Shailene Woodley in Zuhair Murad at Berlin premiere: glamorous or awkward?

Shailene Woodley

Here are some photos of Shailene Woodley at the Berlin premiere of Divergent. The sunshine-vadge goddess is wearing Zuhair Murad. This is a rather revealing dress in the bust department and departs a little from Shailene’s usual selections. One thing hasn’t changed — Shailene is sticking with her very mature selections for the red carpet. This dress is gorgeous and daring although a bit stiff. The shoulder-pad effect throws things off, but Shailene’s makeup looks better here than usual. She generally goes for an undone vibe, but these berry lips and polished hair work it. She’s also wearing gold shoes!

Shailene’s crazy, indigenous-lifestyle loving interviews have taken a bit of a breather. I suspect she’s brushing up on her urban survival stills for future reference. Shailene did slip up to a Divergent superfan by admitting she hasn’t read the whole series: “I haven’t started ‘Allegient’ and I haven’t finished ‘Insurgent.’” The punchline? Shailene may not have signed on to play Tris if she knew how the series ended.

Shailene’s also stirring up some Spider-Man fandom circles by admitting she doesn’t know what’s going on with her Mary Jane role in the series. All of Shailene’s footage was cut from the second film for whatever reason. Shailene says she’s not sure if she’s interested in returning: “I have no idea and I don’t know that I’d even want to do two franchises at this point, having been through this.

Shailene pretended to have chemistry with Theo James in Berlin. Some of you love him, and I respect that. But honestly … do you see any fuzzy feelings between these two stars?

  1. Trillian says:

There wasn’t any chemistry between them in the books either.

  2. Lucy2 says:

She looks pretty but I don’t know about the dress.

  3. LadyMTL says:

Oooh, I love that dress…I think she looks great. As for Theo whatshisface, meh. He doesn’t do it for me and it looks like he doesn’t do it for her either.

    • lex says:

He played a major douchebag in The Inbetweeners Movie so I dont think ill ever see him as anything else… ah well!

  4. Kiddo says:

I’m beginning to get confused between Shailene Woodley and Emma Watson. They register as the same person to me, or at least as a type, looks-wise.

I’m loving this dress, shoulder pads and all. It’s old Hollywood-glamour-ish.

    • Mouse says:

I’m glad you noticed that too. I almost commented the same on the Emma Watson post. The first picture in the Watson post had me looking back at the title I thought I clicked on the Shailene link by accident

    • Tatjana says:

Personally, I find Emma to be much much prettier. And far less annoying. But Shailene is a better actress.

      • Eleanor Zissou says:

        I agree with everything.

      • Liv says:

To be fair, Emma has a really, really beautiful face, so it’s hard to keep up. That said I like Emma more. And I’d say they are pretty much on the same level when it comes to acting.

      • T.C. says:

They both look pretty plain and interchangeable to me in real life. In magazine pictures though I think Shailene looks better than Emma. I prefer Emma’s personality and acting.

    • blue marie says:

I like it except for the shoulder pads, I just can’t get behind bringing them back..
I think James is hot, but no.. I see no chemistry between the two.

      • Kiddo says:

@blue marie, Accept and welcome your new broad overlords. Shoulder pads, like shingles aka the pox virus, make a comeback every 30 years or more. πŸ˜›

      • Dara says:

I think if the sleeves were removed right along their seam the dress would be really stunning. Honestly, I have enough chemistry for Theo James to cover two more films.

      • ~Z~ says:

Some of the pics look like he actively dislikes her…Could be MY dislike…
Did anyone see her tweet…(I saw it on the Berry)
“Being stung by a nettle is one of my favorite sensations ever –AWAKE. ALIVE πŸ™‚ grateful.
        WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Please….Go roll around in poison ivy.

      • Liv says:

@Z I think he seems like someone who’s a bit embarrassed by his loony little sister – he knows she’s crazy and can’t hide it…;-)

  5. paola says:

I thought they had chemistry in the film..he seemed hotter there but quite plain in real life. But he’s British so I still like him.
What happens to Tris in the books? Are the book worth reading?

    • LadyMTL says:

I don’t want to say anything because of spoilers, but I was very underwhelmed by the series. The first book really had promise but it sort of…devolved from there. If you like dystopian YA fiction then give it a try, but I wasn’t overly impressed.

      • embertine says:

Yep, I agree. Disappointed by the second one, no desire to read the third. It stacks up pretty badly against The Hunger Games, although there is a .. kind of a twist? that reminded me of a favourite M Night movie… πŸ˜‰

    • Sixer says:

I concur with LadyMTL. Tricky without giving spoilers but I’d say:

Book 1 – predictable but enjoyable and well done genre fare.

Book 2 – entirely based on stupidity of main characters causing romantic misunderstandings. Mills & Boon with dystopian decoration.

Book 3 – author seems to wish she’d never written the first book and so didn’t have to bother with this one. More plot holes. More misunderstandings. Emasculates hero. Disastrous denouement.

(I won’t mention The Truman Show).

      • T.C. says:

        Sixer,
Perfect summary of all three books. The first was OK but the second was eye rollingly contrived and boring. Even the crazed fans can’t stand the third. In that book the author finally realized the premise of the world doesn’t make sense, she tries to fix it to LOL levels.

I find it amusing that Shailene who claims to have taken up this YA for “artistic reasons ” and not for money (LMAO) hasn’t even bothered reading the entire series. You’d think someone who also claimed to not be sure if she wanted to be involved would have investigated all aspects of the book.

Anyway she looks good in that dress, just remove the shoulder pads. Theo James still looks like a tool so no help can be done there.

      • Jessica says:

        @TC

What is the premise of the world? I haven’t read the books.

      • Sixer says:

It’s future catastrophe and after societal collapse, people have reorganised themselves into factions based on personality traits.

      • T.C. says:

        Jessica,

Premise is to put an end to future wars, poverty, illness , etc the society is broken up into “factions” based on a set of predominant personify types: brave, friendly, smart, honest, humble. If you happen to have more than one type (smart , honest, and brave) you are considered bad and killed off.

At age 16 you do a test involving hallucinogens to find out what type you are then have a “choosing ceremony” where you .

    • Dubois says:

He’s more appealing onscreen. Their onscreen chemistry was okay, somewhat believeable. Shailene keeps equating/comparing this movie to Twilight/Hunger Games and saying she doesn’t want to go through what Kristen Stewart or Jennifer went through. I don’t think there’s any chance of that happening. No way will this franchise come close to Twilight/Hunger Games.

    • GlimmerBunny says:

I agree, they had some good chemistry in the movie! It was really not that great compared to the book though.

  6. Melissa says:

Wow, I actually think that dress looks stunning on her.

  7. Mouse says:

Hello again shoulder pads. So we meet again.

  8. kimber says:

Fire her stylist….that’s all u can say about it really.

  9. erindipity says:

She’s got a nice figure, I’ll give her that – but I can’t recall anyone other than JLo ever looking good in a ZM dress. It overwhelms her, imo. Too much drama in this look for a girl who tries so hard to be earthy (or whatever it is she’s going for).

  10. don't kill me i'm french says:

    She’s spectacular in these dress

  11. amanda says:

whenever I see this actress I think of that Mean Girls meme “Stop trying to make Shailene Woodley happen. It’s not going to happen”

I’ve never seen her in anything, I’m not a fan of these book and I feel like she’s just a more boring Jennifer Lawrence that isn’t going to take off because the public is sick of Jennifer Lawrences now…

I could be totally wrong, but that’s how I feel when I see images or articles about this girl. lol.

    • Zbornak Syndrome says:

Thank you! Why is she a thing? Are blogs getting paid to write about her? It’s like when they tried to make Carrie Mulligan happen in the states last year. Sorry, but she is beyond basic imo.

      • Tatjana says:

Please do not compare this one to the lovely and talented Carey Mulligan.
I don’t remeber Carey giving interview after interview and preaching to people. She was shy and resevred, the complete opposite.

      • Melissa says:

Carey Mulligan is super talented though! She seems like a real class act as well, I have a hard time imagining her telling the world she regularly suns her vagina anyways.

    • Dommy Dearest says:

PREACH! This girl is BORING. All of her interviews come across as conceited, like she buys what she’s saying more than any of us. She always looks like she smells something foul. I’m happy they cut her from Spider-Man. Even with Dunst they ruined the bombshell that Mary-Jane Watson was. Her role in the comics caused Parker to do some serious arcs. This girl is not MJ. I won’t watch anything she’s in. Carey Mulligan deserves spotlight over this girl.

    • angie says:

again bringing Jennifer Lawrence into the conversation, can’t people talk about Shailene Woodley without mentioning Jennifer Lawrence.*rolls eyes*
And also, i have yet to see people getting sick of Jennifer Lawrence, the girl is barely in the limelight at the moment, filming away in Atlanta and even, during Oscar season, she was also barely campaigning, missing some important appearances like the Bafta, the Oscar luncheon etc compared to the likes of Jaerd Leto, Lupita Nyong’o etc
Yeah, just because there are a couple of vocal haters on the internet does not mean the public is getting sick of her, has there even been a legitimate poll to justify this assumption? or are these just based on these media articles that were published on the backlash that will happen if she wins the Oscar, the media will write anything on her as long as they are guaranteed to get hits and attention.
what i like about Jennifer Lawrence is that she knows how to disappear when she does not need to promote anything, she did the same thing after she won the Oscar for SLP, she went to film the end of Catching Fire and then, she filmed American Hustle, you barely see pap pics of her in LA or anywhere else for that matter.
It’s not her fault if certain media outlets like buzzfeed continue to publish irrelevant articles about her and thus, making her presence in the media seem saturated when in reality, she has really been away filming movies most of the time.

      • Liv says:

And that shows us again that it’s totally possible to hide in Hollywood. I mean Jennifer was Hollywood’s golden girl last year and even she managed to disappear in between films and campaigning.

  12. Abbott says:

I still dig her. Though I thought she has commented on the ending of the series… Maybe I’ve been glamoured True Blood-style, but she seems to be mixing messages lately?

I’m guessing she won’t return as Mary Jane. It went over too poorly (at least that’s what I was reading last year).

Based on some of the quotes from Emma Watson lately, it seems like Watson is a bit jealous of her peers’ successes (franchises and indies)

  13. Tig says:

I haven’t really understood the ” dressing too old” comments in her posts- after all, this is a premier, not a prom! I liked the Stella aquamarine gown, and this one looks good on her as well.

Theo James is very good looking, but no chemistry in these photos.

  14. Nicolette says:

That dress is straight out of Dynasty. Please tell me shoulder pads are NOT coming back!

  15. Franny Days says:

Okay in pics he isn’t as sexy, but in the movie…holy guacamole. I’m fine with everyone being “meh” about him though, more for me ;).

  16. Kali says:

Has she pissed off her stylists? Because they’re clearly giving her Kate Winslet’s dresses. Or has Kate Winslet pissed off her stylists and they’re giving all her dresses to Shailene?

  17. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

She looks pretty, but I think most of her dresses are lovely, but too mature for her. Joan Crawford should be wearing that dress.

  18. Jh says:

I really, really am not a fan of hers. At all.

  19. Anna says:

This is seriously the best she’s ever looked.

  20. Mel M says:

Yeah don’t find him attractive in the least.

  21. Lucy says:

About the ending of the series: She has said before she already knew how it would end.

  22. aasf says:

I kind of feel like she has an eating disorder and that why she has all these strange alternative medicine practices. I like her and I hope I’m wrong.

  23. daisy says:

She seems to have her head so far up her own as$. She needs to sit down and realize she is just an actor. She hasn’t found the cure for cancer or brokered peace in the middle east. You don’t eat junk food… ooohh…. give her a nobel prize. Big f*cking deal.

  24. wied says:

Am i the only one who think that her face is not symmetric? I don’t actually know which part, maybe her eyes?her eyebrow?
