Jennifer Lawrence surfaces in NYC with longer hair: did you miss her?

Jennifer Lawrence

These are photos of Jennifer Lawrence in NYC yesterday. She was in town to tape a segment of GMA that will air later this week. After Jennifer’s professional obligations were complete, she did a bit of shopping at Rag and Bone. Jennifer’s still dressing like Zoe Kravitz in her spare time. I don’t know how JLaw is pulling off the towering, open-toed stiletto boots since she’s such a klutz. Her body is still insane, but the most notable thing about these photos is obscured by the Zoe hat.

Jennifer is already growing out the Kate Gosselin hair. She swept her locks back at the Oscars, so it’s not a stretch to believe her hair has grown this much in six weeks. People has a better look at this cut without a hat (and from all angles) as Jennifer entered the GMA studios. Damn. If I could get away with JLaw’s current length, I’d get this cut in an instant.

Will the JLaw press drought soon come to an end? It’s almost time to start promoting X-Men: Days of Future Past, so we might see some good interviews soon. I have a hunch that JLaw will stay as low-key as possible during this tour. Her Mystique character always grabs a lot of attention, but I think Fox will let her do the bare minimum of appearances. We’ll see. It’s in Fox’s interest to allow JLaw to ride out the backlash in relative peace. I think JLaw would be content to let Shailene Woodley keep taking the pressure off with some more sunshine vagina discussions.

I’m including some photos of JLaw looking fabulously unkempt on Easter with some friends in NYC. She doesn’t always have to look perfect, and that’s okay.

She should live in NY. She doesn’t seem the Hollywood type to me.

    • Lark says:

A few years ago Emma Stone discussed how she moved to NYC partially because she couldn’t deal with the paps in L.A. anymore (she acknowledged that some people call them, but she said they literally loiter in a ton of places and are always getting tipped off). I wouldn’t be surprised if Jen moved to NYC because while she’s getting papped it’s probably a lot less frequent than it would be if she was in L.A.

    • Mark says:

She’s pretty hollywood considering she’s got an oscar

      • FLORC says:

How do you mean? Considering she has an Oscar means what exactly? Sincere questions, I have no clue what you mean.
And she seems normal and not the Hollywood type to me. Or at least not the pap type.
And I enjoy her style. Not her interviews.

  2. Tatjana says:

    Not even a little bit.

    • Eleanor Zissou says:

      Yep, me neither.
In the pictures from the GMA interview, she looks very thin.

  3. Kiddo says:

Yeah, I did kind of miss her. You know what I didn’t miss? Hideous skinny jeans.

    • blue marie says:

I hate skinny jeans too. I went jeans shopping this weekend cause mine are getting all hole-y and out of all the jeans I found there were 2!, 2 styles that weren’t skinny jeans. So annoying.

If I could cut my hair that length without looking like a Q-tip I’d do it in a second. And yeah, I like Jennifer so I did kind of miss her, but am glad she went away for a while.

      • Kiddo says:

Oh yeah, she did need to go away for a while. The skinny jeans need to go away FOREVER, except on ultra-skinny punk band members.

      • Nympha says:

Don’t blame the skinny jeans, blame the people who decide what to sell. It’s really ridiculous that you often can’t find particular pieces of clothes just because it wasn’t a trend in latest fashion shows or street style. I had to buy a black skirt knee length or longer for an event a while ago and it took eons to find. And don’t get me started on boots. They sell either flat boots (often ugly) or like 3-4-inch high that I can’t wear at all here. Nothing in between.
As for the skinny jeans, I was really annoyed when it became a trend, I loved my flared jeans and suddenly there were non because of skinny jeans everywhere that I didn’t even like. But now I like that no spare cloth gets in the way, I can ride a bicycle without tying trouser-legs and so on. Oh, and I found some that look flattering. So I don’t want skinny jeans to go off market. I want all styles to be avaliable to find and not just the trendy one.

      miss her too

  4. pru says:

To deflect from Singer, I would think she would do the full promo tour.

    • Lark says:

The trades said that they are going to trot out Fassy, Hugh, James McAvoy, and Jennifer hardcore to try and deflect from Singer. No way in hell are they going to let her or anyone from that film do minimum promotions.

      • DenaDe says:

According to some of the HG fan sites, Jennifer starts press early for X-men because HG is shooting in Europe in a few days.

      • Liz says:

DenaDe that makes sense. Maybe she will do a couple of European premiers if she not in the US over the next month.

      • Abbott says:

Holla, Lark. No way they’ll let America’s Favorite Farting Cookie Monster sit this out.

      • Alex says:

Fox made her contract when she was still an unknown for 1st class and the contract doesn’t include any iron-clad promotion stipulations. They thought it wouldn’t need to as she was a nobody. On hignsight, huge mistake. Because of this Lionsgate doesn’t need to give her time off from filming Mockingjay for promoting Xmen. They didn’t with 1st class either. So likely we won’t see much of her this time either. She’s doing these pretaped interviews now when she as time off from filming anyway.

  5. Lucy2 says:

She looks cute, and pretty smartly has stayed low profile after award season. I don’t get the backlash to begin with, but it’s nice to see that a huge star can disappear for a bit still.

    • Lark says:

I agree in that she looks cute…I like her hair at this kind of shaggy length. I think a lot of the disappearing has to do with getting out of Los Angeles. She’s been in Atlanta for a long time since they are filming two Mockingjay movies back to back and also in England with Nicholas Hoult. I remember seeing a couple pap photos of her in Atlanta and London and then nada. I wouldn’t be surprised if she left L.A. for NYC.

    • Jules says:

@Lucy2: I think the whole “backlash” thing was bullshit…there really wasn’t a backlash…it was something that was attempted during Oscar season from the office of a PR agent that never really took hold. I mean, when I think backlash, I think Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart or Natalie Portman, etc.,. Anyway, looking forward to X-Men DOFP, Mockingjay, etc., and yeah, wouldn’t be surprised if Lawrence moved to New York…away from Hollywood as she never seemed like the Hollywood type.

      • Liz says:

I think the year before that silly “Hathahate” managed to give a lot of writers pieces that got the clicks and something similar was tried this year. I really believe that next year there could be the same types of articles bashing Lupita after the Oscars.

      • QQ says:

Jules i REALLY was coming here to say… Uh .. what backlash?! Is anyone not hiring here? Or badmouthing her in peess or low key snarking on the stupid gossip shows? Cause that’d be a Backslash, not like her being low key, busy or dissapearing after professional obligations, which she tends to do anyways

      • Liv says:

I disagree. I mean just read comments on this site. When she started out most people here liked her. Now not so much. To each their own, but I do think that there was a backlash. She couldn’t do anything right around the Oscars. People moved on to love Lupita and will probably also move on and hate her.

    • Mark says:

It’s not a backlash just that some people aren’t in love with her and her obsessive fans don’t understand that. So they think people who aren’t keen on her are trying to create a backlash.

      • Jules says:

@Liv: No….Lawrence just does not (imho) get the kind of hate that other actresses (again, Hathaway, Stewart, hell Shailene Woodley for that matter) on this site do. It’s still the same as it was two years ago, there are those that don’t care for her but there are more that do. Considering how popular/famous Lawrence has gotten over those two years that’s pretty damn good. There was never a backlash. I do agree that there was a nastiness campaign attempt around Oscar season but it really didn’t go anywhere.

@QQ: Yup, exactly. Backlash means at least three pages worth of hate bullshit on Google, all those annoying “think pieces” followed by Twitter, Tumblr, etc., as well as low key snark on gossip shows and the like. All of which Hathaway experienced.

  6. Jegede says:

The PR guns for the movie are working to deflect from X-Men director

  7. Liz says:

Yeah I missed her and I Like the hair :-). I think it shows good sense to keep a very low profile when she isn’t promoting her films.
As for x-men with such a big cast we might not see to much of Lawrence as she’s still filming but I can also look forward to McAvoy, Fassbender and Dinklage.

  8. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Didn’t miss her and hate that lawn mower haircut.

  9. Dani2 says:

I love her but no I didn’t, I love that she’s really able to disappear (for the most part) unless she’s promoting something.

    • daisy says:

Because it’s possible – if you really want to; which is why the feigned “leave me alone” we get from other celebs annoys me to no end.

  10. Hissyfit says:

    No.

  11. Lucretia says:

It seems that Fassbender, McAvoy, and Jackman are taking the lead in promotion together–the Graham Norton show, a number of interviews together, the recent promo announcement of the world tour openings.
As for Lawrence, she looks ten times better already. The short hair was a mistake for her–glad to see some length back. She is looking cute and looking her age again.

    • SK says:

I love how Hugh is already besties with Those two. He honestly just seems like the nicest guy. Everyone falls in love with him!

    • Chinoiserie says:

If her hair was really damaged it was probably not a mistake to cut it. And the styling of her hair was pretty good during the awards season. But I would have nerved agreed to cut my hair no matter how damaged, I am still growing out bangs that I cut and immediately regretted 6 years ago.

  12. Jules says:

I missed her very much. I’m happy to see these photos of her looking fabulous. Damn…Lawrence’s body is indeed insane. I love her hair, it’s cute/edgy.

  13. Kelly says:

    No.

Also, hate skinny jeans. I wish they were made illegal.

  14. salma says:

    No i didn’t

  15. SK says:

Oh god I wish I could afford beautiful coats like this. A truly beautiful, quality coat is just unbeatable. The bags and other clothes are all very nice; but it’s the coats I truly lust after!

  16. Samtha says:

She looks cute, minus the shoes.

  17. Isadora says:

I don’t really get where the hate comes from. She seems like a funny and normal person who stayed quite the same through all the fame crazyness. And she looks absolutely great imho with this new look/hair. But I was probably also the only person who DID like the short hair on her. However this length is better.

    • Eleanor Zissou says:

She often comes of rude and as a hypocrite, but has great PR so people looks the other way. Amd she’s a decent actress, but not the second coming of Meryl Streep.

      • Chinoiserie says:

I think is if you say everything you think like Jennifer does you can show some of your flaws. I do not think stars need to be perfect to be likable. I missed her. She still should try to avoid overexposure and disappear after the X-Men promotion again until the next Hunger Games movie comes out. She does not have an awards season movie this year (unless Serena gets an distribution and turns out to be good) so that will help.

      • Claire says:

Girl, people like her becauseo f what they see in interviews and in her movies. i don’t need a pr person to tell me anything.

    • Isadora says:

@Eleanor: I don’t know about her PR as my impression of her is based solely on how she is in interviews and while I think she is a rather direct and outspoken person I don’t find her rude. It seems to be just her sense of humor. But it certainly depends on your personal preferences/limits.

      • Eleanor Zissou says:

Flipping the bird and the way she acted to the journalists after the SAG Awards was frickin rude.

      • Maria says:

oh boo hoo. She had one bad day and was annoyed. Go push your hate toward Cooper and the other male actors that were acting 10x worse. GO blame Bale for not doing anything in commitment for that movie and Cooper leaving the platform.

      • Tatjana says:

Cooper wan’t rude. He might have been sick. He just left. And there weren’t just those things. Other actresses get crucified for less.

      • angie says:

        agree
and Cooper completely bail out during this, i find it more disrespectful than Jennifer swearing jokingly.
Some people do not have a sense of humor and has a stick up their ass and all they do is whine and complain about anything. *rolls eyes*
I prefer people who do not take things seriously in general like Jennifer. JMO

      • Liv says:

I’m with Maria on this. Why blaming Jennifer when it was obvious that Cooper was the one messing up? Don’t know what went on but it clearly wasn’t her fault because she was there and did her job!

  18. The Wizz says:

    Missed her, love her!

  19. m says:

I need that jacket from the first set of pics and her shoes from the second.

  20. Dedre says:

YAY! It made may day seeing a new post for her!

  21. Esmom says:

Didn’t miss her, but I do like this hairstyle. Super cute and less matronly than it could look when it was shorter. It was never an uber-short pixie with a million microscopic layers so I can believe it grew out this quickly. She looks fantastic.

  22. Amy Tennant says:

I cannot help loving her. I just smile whenever I see a picture of her. She could be the devil incarnate, but she’s got me snowed over!

  23. HHazel says:

I missed her, she looks really good. I love her hair this way it looks cute on her.

Fassbender, McAvoy and Jackman started doing promo way before the Singer thing and they seem to be the ones that are leading the promo. Jennifer pretaped two interviews and is starting to film in Europe soon I dont think Lionsgate would let her go that much. Maybe she will attend a premiere or two but I dont think we will be seeing much of her.

    • Isadora says:

Ok, I admit to living under a rock, but… what exactly is this Singer thing everyone is talking about? *seriously missing something*

    • vylette says:

@Isadora. The director of the movie, Bryan Singer has been accused of drugging and sexually abusing a17 yr old boy in 1999.

  24. Nick says:

    Nope. She can stay gone.

  25. mimi says:

Her hair looks cute this length. I actually prefer it over the longer hair style she had before chopping it off.

  26. Ali J says:

    NO. Happy for the break!

  27. The Original Mia says:

Didn’t miss her since she’s been seen out and about in Atlanta. She was low key as usual. She worked. She went to a club every now and then, and she went home.

  28. I Choose Me says:

Nope. But she looks good here. I like her ensemble in the first set of pics.

    • Maria says:

The hate for on here is mind boggling. Even ontd is liking her right now. When did this become the cess pool for J-LAW hate? She has done nothing to earn it. She has stayed out of the spotlight, done her job, and comes back only to do more work. This is the hardest working girl in the industry right now, and she deserves all the respect imo.

      • Maria says:

Dee( for some reason I can’t reply to you),

It’s more than that. It’s saying that she is overexposed or horrible when neither is true. She stays away except to promote a movie.

It’s agreeing with the bs that Lohan spills that she would ever need to sleep with anyone to get a role. The hate for her is not just sad, but illogical.

      • Jules says:

@Maria: No there is definetly NOT a “cesspool of hate” for Jennifer Lawrence….I’m an admitted huge fan of Jennifer Lawrence and even I don’t think there’s any hate-on for her here at CB. People who may not be big fans, gush, etc.,….it ranges from really like to like to Not a fan but no hate. Seriously, read through the comments again….I’d say everyone is being cool for the most part.

      • I Choose Me says:

I don’t hate Jennifer. In fact, I think she’s very watchable in movies. I just don’t genuflect at her throne and I think her image is as carefully crafted as all the other big name actors and actresses. I understand getting upset when a celeb you like gets harshed on for seemingly no reason but trust me the JLaw ‘backlash’ has been mild compared to the criticism leveled at other celebs on this site.

  29. Lucy says:

    Yes! She looks great!

  30. Liz says:

Long live skinny jeans!!! Jennifer has such a lovely shape. The shaggy hair looks so chic.

  31. amy says:

pretty woman working down the street

  32. Karen says:

She looks lovely! I really hope careless “journalists” don’t ask ANY of the cast about the Singer drama. I am actually nervous for her. If someone asks, “What was it like working with the director”, and she says “good”, I can only imagine what the press will say.

  33. angie says:

YES, haters can stay pressed, they are irrelevant lol
She is cool and love seeing new of her
She is generally low key when not promoting something and manages to stay our of the limelight when she wants to.

  34. charlie says:

    she is very unattractive

  35. phlyfiremama says:

I missed her. I love her~she is a fantastic actress, IMO. She intrigues me; I guess I don’t really understand what the “backlash” has been about. She shows up, does her job, everyone who works with her loves her, and she disappears between movies for the most part. She isn’t fake coupling up in my face, or on every magazine cover for her drama filled personal life, and she seems super down to earth like VERY few of the others are. Fart jokes!?! (*clutches pearls to chest and swoons)

    • Tania says:

You’re shading other people but when it’s done to j law you don’t understand. I love Jennifer, she’s a great actress and you can actually compliment her without all that.

  36. Serena says:

Sure, she doesn’t have to be perfect she just needs to wear a bra.

  37. Melissa says:

    Christ no

  38. Jules says:

No bra for Jennifer Lawrence…the woman doesn’t need it (LOL!)…I’m kidding. However, her body looks truly banging in the photos, bra or no bra her bubbage looks damn fine to me.

  39. Camille (The Original) says:

    No.

  40. ann h says:

Celebitchy, please don’t make this talented actress all about “the hair”. This Jennifer has a lot more going on for herself than the other one. Leave the hair, diet, tanning, and yoga to Aniston and leave this one alone on that. Ok, please?

  41. Jules says:

    @Anne H: Agreed.
