Michael Fassbender premieres ‘Frank’ in Dublin: would you hit it?

I think Michael Fassbender has been chilling out in Ireland for several weeks, ever since the Irish Film & Television Awards earlier this month. He seems to have been spending time with his mom and dad and awaiting the premiere of Frank, which is financed and distributed by the Irish Film Council (or something). The film is super-Irish, that’s what I’m getting at. And here are some photos of Fassy (plus Domhnall Gleeson) at the premiere in Dublin last night.

First of all… damn it, Fassy looks good. He’s looked like ten kinds of hell for the better part of a year and a half. Spending a few weeks at home has worked wonders for him. His hair is a good length, his skin looks rosy and healthy and he just looks well-rested overall. Maybe my crush is coming back. Slowly. Second of all… Frank is the movie where Fassy plays the “Frank” character and does the whole thing wearing the giant plastic head. You never see his face. Yesterday, The Guardian had an excellent piece about how the film was made and it included new quotes with Fassy, the director, etc. Here are some select Fassy quotes:

Fassy on the gigantic head: “It’s pretty comfortable now. I’m used to it. It was kind of weird in the beginning, the way it sits on your head. You feel a little bit vulnerable because you’ve not much peripheral vision. You can only see straight in front of you. You can’t hear that well either. But it’s quite liberating as well, in the way that masks are. It’s amazing how many emotions that face manages to convey. It can look vulnerable, it can look sinister, at times it looks confused.”

Why this script? “The script just made me laugh out loud,” he replies, admitting he had never heard of Frank Sidebottom. “I thought there were also poignant moments there. It’s a very unusual story, a real standalone. If it’s refreshing to read, it’s hopefully refreshing to watch.”

Fassy wanted to be a rock star when he was younger: “I wouldn’t call it a band,” he says, recalling his efforts as a 17-year-old. “It was just me and another guy on guitar. We could never find a drummer or a bass player. We never even got as far as having a name. We were both called Michael so we could have been Michael and Michael.”

The actors are really playing, but they can’t identify their “sound”: “Somebody said one song sounded like Jim Morrison,” says Fassbender, “but then the next one sounded like the Sex Pistols. We’re never supposed to be good pop music, we’re supposed to be odd music that strikes a beautiful chord in some kind of way, but remaining sort of … not sh-t music exactly, but let’s say … hard to market.”

[From The Guardian]

So, apparently all of the people really are playing all of the instruments and they’re really singing and everything. Fassy plays the guitar and keyboards, Carla Azar (who has worked with Jack White) on drums, François Civil on bass and Maggie Gyllenhaal on “vocals, Moog and theremin.” Maggie also plays Frank’s girlfriend. So, do you want to see Frank? I do not. But I don’t really think any less of Fassy for doing this weird, experimental film.

Aaaaw Domhnall Gleeson – The more important ginger in this post.
He’s hot, who cares about Michael.

    • Eleanor Zissou says:

I agree. I’ve just seen About Time and he is soo cute. But why does he look less ginger-y here?

  2. blue marie says:

No, I’m not attracted to him but I really want to see this movie.

  3. Etheldreda says:

Fassbender does look great here. For a while it seemed as though he was seriously losing the hot – even though he’s still quite a young man – but he seems to be back to his best in these pics.

  4. Deftie says:

Damn, he’s hot again (I am glad, Naomi dind’t destroy his face yet… btw what happened with Butler’s ex?). And I liked the interview as well, more please.

    • jaye says:

Is he with Naomi Campbell, or is that just a rumor? If he is, I will lose my lady boner for him.

  5. Maria says:

Michael looks great and sexy as always.

He’s the more important ginger to me 😉

  6. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

    Very yes indeedy do.

  7. bammer says:

Hell yes. Fassy got his groove back. Swoon.

  8. iskra says:

Hell, yes. He is hoooot in these pics. I can´t really explain why I like him….I usually fall for really tall, dark hair guys but there is something sexy about Fassy and I cant help myself. He is not pretty in any way, he is weird looking guy just like Cumberbatch and Hiddleston but damn, he is hot. Perhaps it is his bad boy reputation. It always turned me on. LOL.

  9. Helvetica says:

Would I? I would. Over and over again.

  10. Lucretia says:

The trailer for the film looks great, and I want to see it. I’ve never lost interest in him, even through a difficult past year. But he seems to me to be trying to take charge of his own image now, rather than letting others create semi-fictional stories/speculation around him. A guy who gets along this well with his hard-working parents (running a restaurant is no picnic, as I know from a relative of mine) is always attractive to me; his father came to Dublin with him for the premiere.

  11. Lark says:

Being back home has done him good 😉 Love him and Domhnall.

  12. HELL YEAH I would hit it. Such a sexy guy and he looks great in leather, even better naked.

I wanna see this movie but I’m sad the Fassface will be hidden 🙁

  13. Peach says:

As an admitted “Fassloonie” even I’d concede he looked pretty rough all through awards season and I was actually starting to worry a bit about him. But here he looks great and back to his hot self. He looks 10 years younger than he has looked lately. He looks refreshed and healthy. He needs to go back home more often!

As for the film, I doubt it will be playing in my area (there’s no Marvel characters in it after all) but I will be sure to catch it out on dvd, I like quirky indie films and I’m glad he takes risks with roles like Frank.

  14. GeeMoney says:

Drool… he looks good. I’d definitely throw him some.

  15. LilyT says:

    Fassbendmeover!

    Is what I would say..if I saw him..because I keep it classy.

  16. Prudence says:

Love this guy, love the chances he takes in acting, love his work ethic that keeps the films churning out. And oh yes–he’s gorgeous.

  17. Lucy says:

SO MUCH GINGER. They both look good. And I have to say I’m quite intrigued by this movie.

  18. Samantha says:

TOTALLY want to see this. I love that he’s doing comedy, even if it’s bizarre, and I do actually think he’s a talented enough actor to convey emotion even with a papier-mache head. Plus, he sings!! A bit sad that I won’t get to see his sharky grin, but I’ll live, probably. 🙂

  19. Jess says:

    Damn he looks really good.

  20. Intro Outro says:

Yes. Then i’d probably wonder YET AGAIN what happened to my preferences in men and why i keep on hitting on fair-haired blue-eyed individuals. And then i’d hit it some more, just to remind myself *why*.

  21. Illyra says:

LOL I love that pic with the fan leaning in.

  22. Cali says:

Gosh, Michael looks cute in these photos! He is so close to his parents, I love that about him.

This movie was done over a year ago wasn’t it? I’d be willing to check it out if it ever comes to the US. I would like to see the comedic side of him.

  23. jaye says:

I’ve said this before, but it is worth repeating. I’d climb him like a tree.

  24. Paul Ó Duḃṫaiġ says:

More Fassbender pics here, seems he was “Selfie King” of Dublin on the night:

  25. ramona says:

Really interested to see how an actor can act with all of his tools covered up. But I can’t lie, I’m going to wait for it to appear on Netflix.

    • Smurphy says:

Sebastian Stan did something similar in the latest Captain America, he had a mask covering most of his face. At times he also had goggles on too and I think those scenes were really good at showing a menacing character. Plus he’s super hot and his eyes are mesmerising so that helped. Not sure how Fassy will go seeing as he’s not playing a villain and you can’t see his eyes.

  26. Anoni Mus says:

He looks great here. May I just say that Fassy has the best jawline in celebritydom?

  27. Undeclared says:

    Yep, he’s a heartbreaker alright.

  28. Mary says:

Kaiser – Michael and domhnall gleeson were on an interiew on the late late show in Ireland. You may be able to watch it on I player @ rte.ie. Both of them were very charming.its about the 60 min mark. Paolo nutini is on the same show. Drool

  29. Gin Princess says:

He is absolutely a heartbreaker and he’d probably be more trouble than he’d be worth but in answer to the original question: Daily and nightly and ever so rightly…

  30. Camille (The Original) says:

Yes I would. All day and all night :). And I want to see the movie, it looks weird and funny.

  31. Blue says:

God, he looks gorgeous. I would definitely hit it a million times over! I’m not sure if I’ll be seeing Frank. What’s the point if you can’t see his beautiful face. I hope it does well at the box office though.

  32. blenheim says:

Yes, like a ton of bricks.

  33. Dani says:

    All Day, every day.
