Emily Blunt took Tom Cruise to his first sex club with Matt Damon

Tom Cruise

Prepare yourselves, lift lovers. It’s nearly time for Tom Cruise’s latest sci-fi/alien adventure movie, Edge of Tomorrow. I can’t wait for the premieres to start because I need some new pictures of Tom, who must have retired to his underground bunker lately. Soon he shall blitz us all with a “refreshed” face and the brightest smile known to Xenu. Tom and co-star Emily Blunt are even planning a time-warp stunt for the movie’s multiple premieres. They’ll attend the London, Paris, and New York screenings within one day. I’m not sure how this will convince more people to see the movie.

Emily’s started her promotional duties in cheeky fashion. She’s picking on Tom a little bit. Emily told Jimmy Kimmel about taking Tom to his very first sex club in London. It was Matt Damon’s birthday party, but this was all John Krasinski’s idea. Here’s the story and a clip:

“It was the disgusting Matt Damon’s birthday party. What a loser. And so, John, my husband, wanted to do something kind of crazy for him, because he flew to London to spend his birthday with us. And John was like, ‘We’ve got to do something crazy for him.’ So I don’t know if you’ve heard of this club called The Box. It’s kind of a burlesque stroke sex club. I mean, people aren’t having sex. There’s like weird things that go on that are supposed to make you cringe and run for your life. So Tom loves Matt and Tom wanted to come. Earlier, I think he thought it was going to be a nice civilized dinner. So I emailed him and I was like, ‘Tom, change of plan. We’re now going to go to this club called The Box. I said, just wanted you to know. You may not feel comfortable with this. It’s kind of like a sex club.’ He emailed back and went ‘Jesus Christ! Well just don’t let me walk out of there alone!’ which we didn’t.”

[From Jimmy Kimmel Live]

I would have had so much fun watching Tom’s reaction to all the crazy stuff going on in “The Box.” He’s so wholesome, and I always remember Mimi Rogers’ comment about Tom’s “pure instrument.” Remember how he lost his delicate sensibilities when Dave Letterman dropped an f-bomb? Whatever happened in this club was so much worse.

Here’s the final Edge of Tomorrow trailer. I have to admit it looks decent, but mostly because Blunt is a badass.

Tom has made his fair share of R rated risqué movies. When I was little Cocktail and Rainman were like soft core porn. There’s two sides to Tom Cruise. The one that picks great films and is great in them, and then the other side where people think he’s like a backwards guy that’s never seen a set of boobs before.

    • MrsBPitt says:

Don’t forget Risky Business…when I was a kid, that WAS porn, to me!

      • Original Tessa says:

I can’t believe I forgot about Risky Business. That train ride. Hell.

      • kimmy says:

I always thought the love seen in Top Gun was pretty hot. There is some major tongue action going on.

    • nora says:

Dont forget Magnolia , i love this movie and it’s crazy but i love tom cruise and i think it’s big actor sorry for my english

Oh the youth of today! Get thee to Netflix and rent “All the Right Moves” (1983, rate R … about a high school football playing with dreams of making it out of his small steel mill town with a college football scholarship) with a ‘super’ young Tom Cruise and Lea Thompson. Tom does a ‘FULL’ frontal Monty in their love scene, and unless they used a prop, the man has serious equipment. I saw the film on an early version of cable and was pleasantly surprised at how ‘blessed’ Tom is. 🙂

Eyes Wide Shut was pretty nasty, too…Tom’s been in his share of “sexy” movies…Of course now, in every movie, his only plays a bad ass who saves the planet! snooze…..

      • holly hobby says:

Well Miss Cabbage didn’t want him to film Eyes Wide Shut. I think that was the beginning of the end of his relationship with Nicole. The CO$ didn’t approve.

  2. Jane says:

Chris Hemsworth, Bill Paxton and Matt’s wife Lucy were also at the club with the group. The story isn’t new.

  3. GiGi says:

That’s a great story. My husband and I once took a very shy friend to hooters and a strip club for his birthday – it ended up being just a great night. And I love how Emily & John roll with some solid A listers like it’s NBD.

  4. TommyAnnE says:

    Eyes Wide Shut?

He certainly tried to be risqué. What a silly movie that was. What a silly little man he is.

    • FingerBinger says:

I liked Eyes Wide Shut. It’s based on a story by Arthur Schnitzler. The movie was just a little to drawn out. Also, even though they were married I didn’t think Tom and Nicole had any chemistry.

My friend used to work at The Box and would occasionally get us in for free- “sex club” is an inaccurate description of what it is. They have burlesque shows and sort of circus acts – it is far more on the bizarro scale than the sex scale. I feel like the headline is really misleading and sort of insulting to what The Box is – many of the performers are quite talented and work very hard, it’s not a place to have sex, it’s more of a dinner theater with an R rating, if anything.

    • Lindy79 says:

Yes Ive heard the same about The Box. Its not like a sex show in Amsterdam.
Also a bit like Cirque du Soir, also in London.

    • Original Tessa says:

She actually describes exactly that in the clip.

    • Ag says:

@coco – thanks for the explanation!

wth is a “sex club” anyways? a strip joint?

    • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Coco, who wrote: “I feel like the headline is really misleading and sort of insulting to what The Box is – many of the performers are quite talented and work very hard, it’s not a place to have sex, it’s more of a dinner theater with an R rating, if anything.”

Agreed. The Headline also suggests Emily took Tom Cruise and Matt Damon to a ‘sex club’ together … just those two men.

I would ‘love’ to go to a club like this! I love “Burlesque” with Cher and Christina Aguilera. I kept thinking “Where ‘is’ this club and how do I get there?” It looks like great, wicked fun. 🙂

    • Emily says:

Thank you for the clarification. For a moment there I thought Matt Damon was into swinging, and I was like “Nooooooooo!” Him and his wife seem to have one of the few “normal” relationships in Hollyweird.

  6. Lindy79 says:

I love Emily Blunt but whenever anyone who has just made a movie with him starts talking him up in interviews I can’t help but transfer a little of my Cruise-Ick to them.
Same with Simon Pegg after that Mission Impossible movie, I just want to tell them to shush.

    • blue marie says:

+ 1 stop trying to make him seem likable

    • Happyhat says:

Same here. Simon Pegg is nothing to me now, he’s gone Hollywood (and not in a good way. In the “I disapprove of this for no real reason” kinda way).

    • Esmom says:

I thought she was actually a little backhanded, saying “he wanted to come,” which I took to mean he wasn’t originally invited, lol!

  7. Eve says:

“Emily told Jimmy Kimmel about taking Tom to his very first sex club in London.”

His first straight sex club, is that what you meant? Anyway, I wonder how (un)comfortable he felt while being there.

    • lucy2 says:

Ugh, I bet there was a lot of forced, over the top laughter from him and maniacal grinning to try to cover how uncomfortable he was.

    • Lindy79 says:

Ha! so true, all those lady parts making him uncomfortable.

      • kri says:

That pic at the top of the story is not a still from his new movie. The armor was the only way they could get him into the club, and the explosion was his reaction to what he saw inside. I’m sure he was very disappointed that there was no rubber room with lube dispensers and young male “thetan fluffers”

    • Madi says:

From memory (an article I had read) they all had a great time and both Tom Cruise and Matt Damon were spanked by a drag queen. I think there were more celebs there too, but I can’t remember who

  8. feebee says:

The full quote was ‘Jesus Christ! Well just don’t let me walk out of there alone with anyone I didn’t walk in with’.

  9. Yup says:

I lived across the street from The Box in nyc. It is still one of my favorite clubs. The shows they put on are pretty crazy from peeing on the crowd which was gross to amazing naked acrobats and onstage sexual acts. It’s definitely an eye opener! They always play great music and the crowd is very cool.

  10. doofus says:

this movie looks like a re-tread of any number of movies that have come before.

a sci-fi movie set in a dystopian future where the lead character dies and has to go back and do it over again “until he gets it right”.

combine this played-out plot with Cruise as the star? I don’t predict much success for this movie. but hey, I could be wrong…

  11. jaye says:

Isn’t the movie’s title “The Edge of Tomorrow”?

  12. Ag says:

this makes me feel gross all over. the poor performers had to endure his crazy laugh and insane eyes.

  13. Kiddo says:

Hee, that top photo is darling. It gives me a case of the giggles every time.

  14. HappyMom says:

    She is totally adorable.

  15. FingerBinger says:

Why do all of Tom’s costars feel the need to butch him up?

    • Eve says:

Helloooo? He’s allegedly a Level 9 Operating Thetan! According to their church’s structure and beliefs that means he has telekinatic powers, among other things.

I’d be scared shitless, therefore compelled to only say positive things about him, too.

  16. Madi says:

This happened a year or 2 ago. Tom Cruise and Matt Damon got spanked by a drag queen there

  17. Sagal says:

He’s had a great career & he’s very talented. His personal life aside, I like him. A lot of actors show very little effort, but you can tell he CARES. And as a viewer I appreciate it.
