This sounds serious! But it’s only Star Mag so it’s probably not true. Still, if I told you that I was having some weird feelings about Julia Roberts’ marriage, wouldn’t you say to yourself, “I bet she’s right”? Julia and Danny Moder have never been big on the public displays of affection or anything like that. Have they ever walked a red carpet together? I don’t think so. Not that public displays are indicative of anything, I was just sitting here trying to remember if we’ve ever been like, “Oh, they seem so in love.” So they’ve made it 12 years together, they have three kids and now Star is saying that it’s pretty much over.
The warning signs have been there for years: countless public squabbles, questions about fidelity and serious tension with the in-laws. And now, after almost 12 years of marriage, friends fear that Julia Roberts and Danny Moder are finally ready to call it quits.
Trust has been an issue with the couple since they first got together — in large part because Danny was married to another woman when he and the actress first got together.
“Julia’s whole M.O. is to keep Danny by her side, because she’s petrified he’ll cheat,” a source tells Star. “So she treats him like a child, checking his phone, looking for emails and texts from other women and monitoring who he socializes with and when. She rules the house with an iron fist and uses the fact that she brings in the bulk of their income to control Danny.”
The drama at home couldn’t come at a worse time for the August: Osage County star. Her half sister, Nancy Motes, committed suicide in February, and reportedly left a suicide note bashing her famous sister — and Danny didn’t agree with the way Julia treated Nancy, either.
“Nancy’s death really made Danny realize how heartless Julia can be,” an insider explains.
Still, image maintenance for Julia means that the couple may not be able to split right away, and for the sake of their three children, Danny has been sticking around.
Star also says that Danny wanted to do some work on a documentary about ocean pollution and Julia’s first response was “I’m not funding it.” I don’t know y’all… doesn’t this sound like Julia? I have no problem believing that Julia keeps Danny on a tight leash and that she’s in charge of everything, and when Danny tries to do anything apart from her, she’s not happy. But does all of that mean “divorce”? Or does it just mean they have a crappy marriage? A Low Vera indeed.

The Nancy comments make me sure this story is completely false.
There’s enough proof out there (including statements from nancy herself and from her fiancé John Dilbeck) that Julia treated Nancy extremely well and instead of being grateful, Nancy sold stories to the media to trash her, because Nancy didn’t think Julia did enough for her….obnoxious entitled attitude.
I’m sure Julia’s husband had no problems with how Julia treated Nancy.

I always thought I would see some trashy title about blaming Julia for her sister’s death/suicide, before I saw a title about her, her husband, and cheating. It’s a miracle, I suppose. If I was a tabloid writer, I would’ve brought up the ‘Low Vera’ stuff A LONG time ago–probably when she was doing films again (like ‘Eat, Pray, Love’, and that Snow White movie).

There were so many tabloid stories at the time. Allegedly, most of his family sided with Vera. Another seldom remembered detail is that his mother passed away unexpectedly during the pre-divorce drama. It was truly a messy situation.
She’s a successful makeup artist now (does at least one big name). I don’t know if she ever remarried. She was very young when all of this went down.

IMdB says she had a son in 2004. I really hope things worked out well for her – nobody should have to cope with what she did, and from what Google just told me of the Moder family’s esteem for her, and she’s supposed to have suffered a miscarriage just before he left her, she was a good person screwed over at an exceptionally hard time. Which makes that t shirt all the worse.

It was a slam at Moder’s now-ex-wife, because at the time she was fighting the divorce. Julia Roberts was pissed that Vera wouldn’t just roll over for her because what Julia wants, Julia gets, and Julia wanted a married man. So Julia wore the t-shirt and got papped in it. She’s so classy.

there was an item in blind gossip about Aaron supposedly hitting on a woman at the BAFTA awards. Evidently his wife was here in the States and he was trying to take advantage of the opportunity.
Every single story I’ve read about encounters with these two has included some version of her telling him to shut up and not speak until he’s spoken to. Like literally ‘I saw them at Starbucks and Julia just kept shushing him’ or ‘I served them at a restaurant and Julia told him over and over that no one wanted to hear what he had to say’.
But I think they might be in it for the long haul. They never seemed like a couple deeply in love, even when the whole crazy drama with ex was going on they didn’t seem to have much of a spark. He tolerates her behavior, and I think she’s just self aware enough to realize that’s about all she can ask for unless she undergoes a personality transplant.

Oddly enough, I suspect this is basically their relationship. Roberts made it clear, she has the only opinion, that matters. And that will eventually come back to bite you on the ass.

Hautie, At the risk of facing some serious wrath, I think the difference is Julia hasn’t had nearly as high a profile as the Jolie-Pitts have, she virtually disappeared for a number of years when her kids were tiny, nor nearly as much invested in reforming/maintaining an image. She seems to be more in the mindset of “take me or leave me,” whereas Jolie has worked a lot harder to win hearts and minds.
And to those who start throwing balls at me, I’m sorry. I’m not denying that Jolie does do good works and does seem to have a happy, loving family but to say that she hasn’t worked hard on her image over the years is disingenuous.
You bring up a good point, I’ve never once seen anyone say Jolie will lose Pitt the same way she got him, and I suspect that’s because she’s AngelinafreakingJolie, you don’t cheat on her. The truth (not ‘my’ truth, but factual truth) is … Brad and Jen separated on January 7, 2005.
Jen filed for divorce on March 25, 2005.
Brad chased Angie to Africa in April 2005 (unaware that a photographer saw him in the airport and followed him to Africa on a hunch).
Jen and Vince Vaughn began a relationship in July 2005.
Brad and Jen hired a private Judge to finalize their divorce in August 2005 to ensure their privacy. The Judge granted/approved the divorce on August 23, 2005 (perhaps the Tuesday before); which was just two days or one week shy of 6-months from the date Jen filed for divorce.

He strikes me as a bit of a man-child (doormat, if you will). His ex wanted to stay married, but the lure of the big movie star calling him was apparently too much to resist.
I read an interview with JR that mentioned Danny working on various projects. His imdb project list suggests that most if not every project he’s worked on since they got together ties back to his wife and / or her production company. So I do believe this story could be close to the truth. I have long suspected a breakup once the kids are slightly older.
That’s why I’m thinking either this isn’t true or if it is, he won’t do anything about it – she’s his whole career at this point.
Anyway, it’s Star, so I’m thinking it’s not true.

Hi I’m new to this site but I have some info here: about two years ago my husband and I were in Ojai at the Ojai vally resort and she was there with her kids and husband and they seemed very much in love but were low key. They didn’t eat at the restonants but rather they had their meals brought to them and eat on the patio at the town house next to is. My daughter played with her kids (especially the red headed one) she was at the pool in a big hat and sunglasses I didn’t know who she was until I saw some guestes coming to her asking for autographs and making small talk. She seemed very gracious and smiled a lot and that’s when I recognized her. Her kids and her husband played with our daughter in the pool and they seemed very low key but very loving towards each other. I wasn’t a big fan (never seen pretty woman) but she seemed very nice and polite to the staff and towards our daughter.
You should watch Erin Brokovitch – she is great in this role.
If she was afraid of him cheating, wouldn’t she treat him the opposite of a child? Not necessary worship the ground he walks on type of treatment but at least make him an equal partner in the marriage and support him? Seems silly to me.

I think he’s stayed as long as he has for the kids, she’s been seen telling him to shut up, and told publicly if he has an opinion she’ll give it to him if he disagrees with her. She’s horrible, she’s always been a horrible person, and for all intents and purposes she’s allowed to cheat, and he’s not. No prenup after 10 years in California, so it really could be that he doesn’t want to upset the kids, and she’s gone for months at a time, making his life somewhat tolerable. Christ even her neighbors say she’s an obnoxious whore publicly.
