Taylor Swift regrets moving to NYC, ‘feels isolated,’ can’t wait to move back to LA

Taylor Swift has been getting pap’d on the reg for months after she relocated to NYC. I’m pretty sure Swifty was/is working on her new album, a project which is very hush-hush and I assume will be devoted to Harry Styles and the breakup a year and a half ago. In New York, Tay-Tay has also been arranging playdates with high-profile women all over the place, mostly Victoria’s Secret models and Lena Dunham. I’ve been saying for a while that Taylor seems to be playing out some kind of Sex and the City fantasy while in Manhattan – something about the pap strolls in cute outfits, the high-profile girlfriends, the high heels… it just seems like Taylor is trying to live in the world of Sex and the City. But what if she secretly hates it? Ha.

“Taylor feels isolated in New York,” a pal tells Star Magazine. “She’s having a hard time making friends and is begging people to visit, even offering to fly them out!” But Taylor may be more of a New Yorker than she realizes: now that summer’s hit, she’s ready to ditch the city for the shore.

“Taylor cannot wait to split her time between Rhode Island and LA,” explains the insider. “She doesn’t want any part of living in New York full-time – she really regrets moving there.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

Sounds more like her SATC fantasy crashed into the reality of New York. It sounds like Taylor thought it would be super-easy to meet interesting men who fit into her narrow boyfriend requirements and the reality was… she wasn’t meeting many men. She was just working on her album, hanging out with models and wearing cute outfits. So sad, Swifty. Maybe work on your London fantasy next? That’s the fantasy that many single American girls have – “I’ll move to London and meet a great guy with an accent, maybe he’ll have a title or something. I’ll go to polo games and hang out in the members-only clubs.” Living out the London fantasy might do her some good.

Meanwhile, two nice Swifty stories – she has a small part in the film adaptation of The Giver (so small in fact that she was left out of the trailer), and on behalf of the film, she’s participating in the READ project. She appears in a poster with the book The Giver on behalf of the American Library Association’s efforts to encourage kids to read. And here’s another nice thing: she donated $50,000 to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Cancer Center. The money goes towards getting the young cancer patients a music therapy cart – you can read more about it here.

It doesn’t say she can’t meet men – it says she can’t meet friends. That’s different.

    • Lollipop says:

She’s been single for over a year, I don’t know why they make her out to be more boy crazy than she is.

    • MCraw says:

Yknow what tho? So many recent college grads come here for years and it’s so obvious they are imagining themselves in some new episode of SATC. Sitting in a Mexican restaurant and a good song comes on? The table of 3 girls next to you jump on tables and chairs and start dancing, to the confusion of staff and patrons. I think thru her outfits, you can read her fantasy all over her. Of course, it’s silly, but maybe that’s what happens when u constantly and only talk about boys professionally.

Based on the daily pap walks Taylor loves being in NY. She was never so dressed up in LA or so focused on on the paps. Usually she looks away or ignores them but in NY she’s always looking into the lens. I like her music but I don’t know why she’s never called out on her fakeness.

    • Belle Epoch says:

I think that’s why she hates NYC. Nobody cares. She has to call the paps herself.

If you’re “isolated” in New York, there is something wrong with you! She can’t find a friend out of 8 million people and unlimited places to experience?

      • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Exactly. New York is a tough town and people are jaded and used to seeing famous people all over the place. Nobody is going to ooh and aah over the fact that you exist unless you purposefully orchestrate something for the sake of attention. This is why normal celebrities move to New York from L.A. in the first place.

    • Hannah says:

I would get super-excited when I saw famous people when I lived in Manhattan for 8 years. But, hey I read too many celebrity gossip sites!

  3. Nymeria says:

wow the girls in the second picture background….

  4. Sleepyjane says:

The girl crying in the background in the pic with the mustard purse and shoes. That is everything. Lol.

  5. Kaye says:

So what if she has an unrealistic self / world view? She’s harmless. She doesn’t get wasted or fall out of clubs. She gives money to worthy causes.

Maybe we could cut her a little break?

Disclaimer: Yes, I DO know this site is named CeleBITCHY. But there are so many targets more worthy of our scorn.

    • Sighs says:

I really don’t mind her and I actually like some of her music. It’s nice to have a singer who isn’t constantly in our face seeing how much she can shock us with how hard she can twerk or how little clothing she can wear.

    • Lucy says:

Eh I agree she’s harmless, she’s got the mind of a 15 year old so I don’t mind her too much

    • kri says:

God, doesn’t she get enough attention? We have seen her in NYC everyday starring as Betty Draper. She has the money to live wherever she wants. Go make Ed some jam and scones in London.

  6. poppy says:

doubtful she can be lonely with all of her paps, hair + make-up staff, and clothes handlers.
    🙄
seriously, sounds fake. many people in nyc leave for the summer. it gets sort of stuffy and stinky. very, depending on where you live and work.

nice of her to donate some $$$$.

  7. Talie says:

OMG at this girls crying! Get a damn grip!

  8. 30winks says:

I’m not a fan, but I have to give her props for the donation to CHOP–that music therapy cart is going to bring lots of joy and healing to those sick kids. That was an incredibly nice and practical thing to do, a gift that will keep on giving.

  9. Alarive says:

It depends on her goals. She could really move to London and aim toward Prince Harry. Blonde, tall, skinny. Her music doesn’t seem to be evolving too much (or at least not at some great pace) so who knows what she envisions for herself in ten years time. What if she pulled a Grace Kelly and became royalty?

  10. Kaylen says:

She really is a beautiful looking young lady.

  11. ML says:

I thought the American Library Assosiation banned The Giver?

    • priss says:

The ALA doesn’t ban any books. In fact, they celebrate books that have been banned. Librarians are fierce protectors of the freedom of speech and information. It’s a very significant part of our education.

  12. lucy2 says:

I don’t know, I kind of think if she was miserable in NYC, she could just go to one of her other houses elsewhere. Or go travel in Europe for a while. I can’t picture anyone of her resources being stuck somewhere they weren’t enjoying.
Glad to see her supporting the READ project and music therapy.

  13. Bread and Circuses says:

    That last photo. 😀

My first reaction was, “Wow, that skirt is uncomfortably short.”

My second was to giggle at two young women in the background who appear to be acutely traumatized by her.

  14. Meg says:

i read somewhere that she doesn’t even work out, she calls the paps because she wants to be seen going to the gym but doesn’t actually work out when she’s there. she just changes her clothes to be spotted again 90 minutes later. how sad.

  15. Bari says:

Taylor Swift screams “TOURIST” whenever I see her in these PR orchestrated New York photos. So unauthentic.

  16. Kosmos says:

I don’t blame her for wanting out of NYC….I would find it too noisy and there’s just not enough nature around. I’m not a fan of concrete and high rises everywhere, although NY does have tons of entertainment, shopping and eateries, which I would love…..however, I’m a California girl and I guess I’m addicted to the seashore and also to the back country where I can hike. I love living around trees and a semblance of serenity. I go to the bigger city for shopping when I need it, but I wouldn’t switch to NY cold winters and subways for anything!!!

  17. Patty Cake says:

I like swiftly even though she’s a super prissy girl, lol. She would be cute as royalty. Personally, I can’t understand how any Royal or religious person can stand to be bowed or curtsied to, or can stand anyone kissing a piece of jewelry on their hand. I would feel awkwardly like a god and not in a good way. It’s the whole idea of being worshipped in some odd sense that would totally turn me off. & weird me out.

  18. Nikki L. says:

I’m probably the only gossip fan in the world but — I loathe her hair. It’s lank, uninspired and dishwatery. When she first got it done everyone was like OMG SUPER CUTE, but her hair is just too fine for this particular blunt style. It would look better with more all over layers, or just styled less twee, I think. It just never looks quite right.

  19. brionne says:

Country singers don’t usually flock to new York anyway. Why is she there?

  20. Dixiebitch says:

Well, for all of its media glamour, New York is now notoriously one of THE worst cities in the U.S. for single straight women looking to marry a single straight guy, so I am not sure why girlfriend came here at all if her goal is to find something more meaningful than a hookup.
However, it is one of the very best, most fun, and of course safest cities for gay men, which is why me and lots of my friends came here in the first place. We all agree that after NY, we wouldnt move anywhere else that isn’t Miami.
