Hilary Duff in death threat scare

A crazy guy in the crowd at a live appearance by Hilary Duff on Canadian music channel Much Music shouted a death threat at the teen pop star and was quickly taken down by police. From the pictures of the incident, he just looks like someone who is off his meds and/or homeless and may not have posed a real threat. You never know, though. Duff was stalked by a Russian guy who threatened to kill her at an event and seemed to have an actual plan, so it’s important that they take those things seriously.

Duff was being interviewed Tuesday by MuchMusic host Leah Miller on Live @ Much when a man in the crowd outside the studio started shouting at the 19-year-old star. According to an eyewitness, the unidentified man vowed to kill Duff, prompting several police officers to tackle him.

“The cops slammed his face into the pavement,” said photographer Todd Gillis, who witnessed the incident. “He was bleeding.”

The commotion happened just metres from an outdoor platform where Duff later stood to greet fans who surged forward for autographs and pictures.

Duff is promoting her new album “Dignity,” which was released in the US on April 3rd. Hilary said she wrote the lyrics to the dance-heavy CD while she was going through some personal problems, “I was having things with my family and was with someone and then not with someone so it is very personal. Well I wrote a song, it was one of the last songs I wrote for the record, it’s called ‘Where’s your dignity?’ Dignity is something you just don’t have. It’s something that you have to work on. I feel like I have it a little. The album is so personal. It feels like it just fits— it’s something that I’ve always hoped to have and strive to have.”

Some of the lyrics to the song “Dignity” include “You’d show up to the opening of an envelope,” and “It’s not news when you’ve got a new bag/It’s not news when you’re looking your best/Come on, give it a rest.”

It’s news when you get a death threat, though. It’s also news when you get a new boyfriend. Has anyone heard of Hilary Duff dating someone new recently? She broke up with Joel Madden back in November. Rumor had it that they were fighting over Hilary’s stalker, and that Joel didn’t take it as seriously as she did.

Here are pictures from Hilary Duff’s Much Music appearance along with the crazy guy who got arrested for threatening her. Thanks to Canada.com for these pictures.
