Tilda Swinton in Schiaparelli Couture at LA Film Festival: lovely or unflattering?

In case you were still wondering if Tilda Swinton and Sandro Kopp are still EVERYTHING, here is your answer. Yes. They are everything. And then some. Tilda and her younger lover Sandro attended last night’s LA Film Festival premiere of Snowpiercer. Snowpiercer is being distributed by The Weinstein Company in America, and it’s already come out in many other countries months ago (it was a huge hit in Asia). Harvey Weinstein thinks he’s a genius, so he’s fighting with the director about the cut of the film before it gets an American release. Tilda has actually trash-talked Harvey about it.

As for this LA Film Festival appearance, Tilda actually wore a dress! It happens occasionally, she just usually wears very menswear-inspired pieces (if not actual menswear). This dress is Schiaparelli Couture. Thoughts? I love the color. I love the polka dots (and I’m not a Dots Person). I love the pale blue shoes. I’m not sure about the fabric drape stuff on the hips. And I feel like the neck was supposed to be lower on her shoulders? Also: she needs to stand up STRAIGHT. Enough with the aristocratic slouch. *shakes fist at Tilda’s poor posture*

As for Sandro… God, he’s cute. This is the kind of younger boy-toy I wish more “older” women would go for. He’s not so young that he’s like some shiny, innocent naïf. He’s an artist in his own right. He’s hot in a slightly unconventional way, and he’s not “pretty.” And he’s genuinely protective of her – he’s the kind of guy who calls Tilda “my baby” to reporters. Delightful.

I love everything about her, including what she’s wearing.

    Gorgeous lady, gorgeous couple.

    Unflattering.

  4. Lilacflowers says:

I think I would like it more if it only had one tassel/napkin hip thing. But yes, I do like the dress.

  5. eliza says:

I love it. So wonderful to see old names of great fashion houses being mentioned.

  6. Azurea says:

I love the colour, the dots, the neckline & the
    length….just not the hip-fluffle.

  7. Jac says:

If anyone else (barring Cate or Angelina) were wearing this they’d laughed at.
Put your thumb over her head and imagine it’s Paltrow or Aniston…still love the dress?

  8. PunkyMomma says:

I adore Tilda, adore the dress but not the dress on Tilda. And Sandro is totally a keeper. Yum.

  9. Isadora says:

God… I can’t believe I missed this film. It is dystopian. It’s in a train. There is a revolution. Tilda is in it. What can go wrong with this? Thank god I found a cinema near me that still plays this gem. *buying tickets*

Oh, the dress. I don’t know. I don’t love it and I don’t hate it. She had better looks, I think. Sandro is great. 🙂 I really like his paintings.

  10. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Brilliant pairing of old hollywood glamour and Dennis the menace cowlick – Lady Gaga and Cher step aside Tilda is Queen of fashion; obviously a Lady who treats and tips her colourist since her locks are continual consistent colour and no brass whatsoever.

  11. Janet says:

Ill-designed and ill-fitting dress, and the poor posture makes it look worse.

  12. Darbi says:

Tilda really likes a man with a beard, doesn’t she? The father of her sons/her other partner, John Byrne also has a luscious beard.

  13. Lahdidahbaby says:

Adore Tilda, like this color on her and the dots, love Sandro – BUT I think she looks better and sexier and more iconic in her usual menswear glam. She almost looks like she’s in drag in the first pic. And the hip napkins ruin the dress anyway. She is my idol, so I hope this isn’t gonna be a thing for her.

  14. joan says:

This is the second look lately that’s failed.

Those blue shoes to match the polka dots — not good.

    Just no.

  15. Naomi says:

Snow Piercer is great and Tilda is simply marvelous. Please go see her in Only Lovers Left Alive the Jim Jarmusch film. She is also in his Limits of Control which is wonderfully strange.

  16. I Choose Me says:

Not sure. I’m down with the colours but those peplumy things are throwing me off.

    Scrolls up to look again.

Yep. Cover that shit up with your fingers and this instantly becomes a much better dress.

Delightful. Team Tilda!!! She can do no wrong.
