Marc Anthony’s ex scored a child support increase from 13k to 26k per month

Dayanara Torres

A judge has doubled the amount of money that Marc Anthony has been paying to his ex-wife. Er … one of his exes. Marc and Jennifer Lopez are not technically divorced yet, but he pays JLo more than he was paying Dayonara Torres up until a few days ago. Dayanara has scored a slight victory in child support court. It would be a major victory for most child support recipients, but Daya’s score isn’t nearly as much as she was asking for.

Dayanara is the mother of Marc Anthony’s two eldest children (both sons), and she was receiving $13,000 per month in child support since 2004. She asked the court for an increase to $113,000 per month. Daya claimed Marc was hiding assets and that he really makes over $1 million per month. She wanted to be able to provide a lifestyle for her sons that would reflect Marc’s lifestyle. Dayanara claimed that she needed a nanny and a housekeeper. Hmm:

Case closed. Marc Anthony has settled an ongoing court battle this week with his ex-wife Dayanara Torres regarding child support. Us Weekly has confirmed that a judge ordered Anthony to pay $26,800 per month in child support for his two kids with Torres, sons Christian and Ryan.

Anthony, 45, was previously paying $13,400 a month. Torres requested that amount be raised to $123,426 a month in November 2013, citing lifestyle changes, in addition to child support needs. Part of the ten-fold child support increase included the need for a nanny and housekeeper, which would cost Torres up to $7,000 a month.

Us obtained the court documents detailing the exact amounts Anthony has been ordered to pay. Anthony’s legal team offered $28,000 per month — the judge ordered $26,800. According to the documents, his team also offered $30,000 per year for travel — the judge ordered $12,000.

The documents also revealed that the original judgment required Anthony to pay support until the kids were 21 plus college education. The judge terminated support when the kids turn 18 per California law.

The Latin sensation and former Miss Universe, 39, were married from 2000 to 2004. One week after their divorce was finalized, Anthony married Jennifer Lopez; the two announced they were separating in July 2011. (Anthony filed for divorce in 2012, but the parents to 6-year-old twins Emme and Max have yet to finalize their split.)

[From Us Weekly]

It’s hard to feel sorry for anyone who thinks that they “need” a nanny and a housekeeper. Child support is supposed to be for the children, not the parent, and Marc’s sons probably don’t care if there’s a housekeeper or not. They’re also getting too old to have a nanny. The court must have agreed that Dayanara was asking for an excessive amount since they only doubled her support instead of going five-fold per request. At the same time … it’s not completely fair that Marc’s sons aren’t living the same lifestyle as their father, who is too busy dating 21-year-olds to notice. FYI: Daya is now receiving more child support than Gabriel Aubrey.

Not surprised this got awarded to her, This dude is known to be a bastard to his exes and a child abandoner and all that good stuff (i.e. arianna …his child was good for writing a tender song but not to be visited and supported, shit, she couldnt even be given tickets to see her dad play the stupid song he wrote about her!) , I think the ONLY reason why he pays JLo well and On Time is because she has more clout than those other girls he’s impregnated and they still have joint ventures still so Lopez knows exactly how his money is…plus there would be hell to pay publicly if that were to happen, she has enough clout

If he is really making that much, I don’t have an issue with the amount of support reflecting that. Especially since by most accounts he is not sharing custody equally, so almost all of their care is provided by their mother. What she was asking for was a huge jump, but I think the judge found a good compromise.
She does not NEED a housekeeper, but can certainly budget for one. However, I remember somewhere reading that one of the kids has special needs, so the nanny might be as a result of that, if that’s true.

  3. Birdie says:

Why does she need a nanny? I doubt she has a job, so why the nanny?

Hold up, wait. Maybe a housekeeper, but a nanny? Marc’s twins with JLo are six, and I know that these kids are at least a few years older. So at least in the pre-teen phase? What is a nanny needed for such older kids? I can see her argument that her kids are entitled to the standard the twins live, but she strains credibility when she claims they need a nanny.

BTW – I always thought Marc also has another child (a daughter, I believe) from before he became famous. I always heard her mother was NYPD or something like that. Weird that you’ve never heard anything from her. Maybe she valued her privacy too much.

ETA: I looked it up! His kids with Torres are 13 and 10 – so do they really need a nanny? His oldest daughter is 19-20.

Oh this should be interesting. Let’s see how many people who dogged out gabe will say this broad deserves this much money. This is who I was thinking of when people were saying gabe gets too much money. I was thinking they wouldn’t be saying that if it was this chick. I can just imagine the reaction if gabe said he needed a housekeeper and/or nanny. And how do we know her kid is special needs? She could just be saying that

I believe that MA’s oldest child is his teenage daughter.
As far as the alimony – I do feel sorry for Torres since MA allegedly stepped out on her while they were still married with JLo, but with that being said I agree that she was asking for too much $$. Still, how in the heck was JLo getting more $$ than Torres?

My guess is that JLo had much better lawyers than Dayanara.

      • sa says:

I don’t doubt that J. Lo has probably has better lawyers, but I think it also has to do with which state they’re in. I don’t know anything about child support in California, but I think that J.Lo and Marc Anthony were NY based, and from what I understand in NY it’s primarily a math equation/percentage of income. I think it’s about 15-17% for the first kid, 8% for the next kid, etc. So (assuming that she could prove the $1 million/month income that she claims), Dayanara would be getting more than she was asking for if NY had jurisdiction over their child support dispute.

  7. thinkaboutit says:

I don’t think a nanny is so unusual given their income and lifestyle. The kids can’t be left alone if she travels or has evening events to attend. And since he’s not in the picture at all apparently, let his stingy ass pay for someone to pick up his slack. It’s hard being a single mom but like we all always say, money makes it much easier!

  8. Renee28 says:

I don’t think a nanny is unreasonable. The boys are still relatively young and can’t be left alone. She should be allowed to have a life outside of her kids. If he doesn’t want to be involved then he should pay for help.

    • Jenny says:

Granted, but you absolutely do not need to over $300,000 per year in non taxable income to hire a nanny and housekeeper. You could do so on a taxed salary that is a third of that , and she was asking for 5 times more to boot.

    • Jenny12 says:

Since she has no job, why does she need a nanny? Who said he doesn’t want to be involved? Of course she should receive support, but her sons aren’t babies or even that young. She could work. Anyone who is a parent should work, regardless of whether they’re with the kids’ father/mother or not. If one person stays home to raise the kids, that’s a huge job, but if you don’t have a job, why do you need a nanny? Especially if your kids aren’t tiny?

  9. Liz says:

Not mentioned is that Marc makes over 600K a month this year. Last year he was making over a million. He has a special needs son that requires extra time and attention. Why shouldn’t she have a housekeeper and a nanny for some respite?

  10. Penelope says:

I knew he made a lot of money but had no idea he was *this* wealthy.

  12. Pumpkin Pie says:

Is the 26,800 allocated per child or for both sons?

  13. lrm says:

Also, 12k for travel. Reduction from original judgment. That is not much to just fly and visit family a few times per year. All the ridiculous comments that she doesn’t need a nanny bc the kids are older. Um, kids need supervision and food, help with homework, driving to activities and sports, etc . Just bc they are not babies doesn’t make them fully functional adults. Teens need a different kind of supervision. But I find it is as intense as having a toddler, tbh.

    • Jenny12 says:

Since she doesn’t have a job, couldn’t SHE do those things?

      • Snowflake says:

        exactly !

      • captain says:

She could. But it is great if you can afford some help with these things. It is a lot of work. Single mothers are often exausted, even when they don’t go to work. It also drains the woman mentally, emotionally, not just physically. So she is providing not such a great environment for her kids.

If she can afford herself enough rest, hobby, me-time, dating – her children would benefit from it.

    • Snowflake says:

      Isn’t that what parents do?

Interesting that the judge ordered less than what MA’s lawyers were offering.

She also has more children than Gabriel Aubry and Mark Anthony is much wealthier than Halle Berry.
