Horrific photo surfaces of Rihanna’s injuries from Chris Brown

This is obviously not the photo we’re talking about, TMZ has that photo.

TMZ has a photo of Rihanna’s injuries taken by the LAPD after the incident in which Chris Brown is said to have punched her, strangled her, and left her unconscious in a car when he fled. Sadly, the previous details about this story seem to be true as her eyes look black and blue, and her lips are puffy with cuts and blood. There are also two contusions across both sides of her forehead. This picture reminds me of a photo a relative sent me after she had a face lift it’s so bad.

In case there’s any doubt that it’s a real photo taken that night, the LAPD has issued a statement saying that take internal leaks of evidence very seriously and are looking for help finding the person responsible for giving the photo to the press. Given the way the picture is a little light looking as if it’s reflecting a flash, someone may have taken a cell phone photo of it and sold it to TMZ:

Los Angeles: The unauthorized release of a domestic violence photograph immediately generated an internal investigation.

At about 7 p.m. on February 19, 2009, the Los Angeles Police Department Media Relations Section began receiving numerous inquiries about the release of a photograph associated with a domestic violence incident that occurred on February 8, 2009, involving entertainer Chris Brown. The photograph appeared on an entertainment website. The photograph has the appearance of one taken during an official Domestic Violence investigation.

The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence.

The Department launched an immediate internal investigation and subsequently filed a personnel complaint.

A violation of this type is considered serious misconduct, with penalties up to and including termination.

Anyone with information concerning the unauthorized release of the photograph is asked to call, during regular business hours, (213) 485-4152. After-hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to our 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247). Callers may also text “CRIMES” with a cell phone or
log on to www.lapdonline.org and click on Web Tips. When using a cell phone, all messages should begin with “LAPD.” Tipsters may remain anonymous.

There are still going to be fools defending Chris Brown even after this photo is out, but what can you say? He committed a terrible act of violence against the woman he supposedly loved, and all he had to say for himself was that he was “sorry and saddened… over what transpired.” Many of you have pointed out how passive that statement is, like the beating is something that just happened to him too. Several of his family members have told the press how Chris is doing, and how he’s coping as if anyone gives a shit or wishes him well.

Jay-Z’s statement on this is one that really brings it home to me: “Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that.” I also like how unequivocally John Legend worded his statement “If Chris did what they said he did, that’s unacceptable. He has to accept the consequences of it.”

Seeing that picture of Rihanna in that state makes me want to give her a hug and make her some food. She looks so down and my heart goes out to her. Chris Brown should be dropped by every company that ever had anything to do with him.

According to E! Online, Brown may face more serious consequences than just losing his career, all his money and high end toys. He is being investigated for attempted murder after Rihanna reported that he told her he was going to kill her before strangling her into unconsciousness and fleeing the scene:

At the request of the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, the R&B star is being investigated for a variety of felonies, including domestic violence, assault resulting in great bodily injury and—based on specific allegations made by Rihanna—even attempted murder, a source close to the L.A. Police Department’s investigation tells E! News.

But as they build their case, the source says, prosecutors fear that making any serious felony charges stick could prove difficult in a case where there are no direct witnesses other than Rihanna and Brown.
Brown is accused of beating his longtime girlfriend in the early morning hours of Feb. 8, causing them both to cancel their scheduled Grammy performances that night.

Rihanna told police that, while the two were fighting in his rented Lamborghini, Brown said to her, “I’m going to kill you,” while his hands were around her neck. The Barbados-born songstress, who is reportedly cooperating with the cops’ investigation, also told authorities that Brown choked her until she lost consciousness.

[From E! Online]

Brown has hired a crisis management type PR firm, but how is he going to respond to that allegation? The only way he can even partially redeem himself to the public is to admit that he has a serious problem, that he’s trying to understand it, and should never have laid a finger on Rihanna. It’s not like he can deny it happened. Given that there’s an investigation pending, his lawyers may advise him against admitting guilt though. It’s hard to see how this can end in a way that will allow Brown to continue to have any kind of career entertaining the public.

I’ve seen the photo, it’s about as bad as it can be. 🙁 Poor girl, to have to go through this at all but to have to do it in the spotlight seems unfair.

  2. Because I Say So says:

TMZ is scum. I’ve also seen the photo and wish I hadn’t. It’s one thing to gossip about people’s lives and who they’re screwing, but the opportunistic ass who sold the photo to TMZ is just as bad a Chris Brown. To me, it’s like naming a rape victim. Kudos to Celebitchy for not posting the picture

  3. Jenna says:

I saw that photo last night and I was completely sickened. I just can’t wait for the Chris Brown groupies to come over here STILL defend him. He’s a woman abuser that deserves to face time in jail because of the damage he did. I’m not a huge Rihanna trooper but she did not derserve that happening to her.

CB, it’s me from a different computer 🙂

  4. Sue D. Nimm says:

I wish I hadn’t looked at that photo now. If it were my mom, hell, Chris Brown would need to go into hiding. Still, Rihanna always struck me as quite tough and independent so I think she’ll bounce back after she’s recovered. Chris Brown could probably change through serious therapy, but his career is over.

  5. Jenny says:

that picture should NEVER be on the internet. poor rihanna.

  6. Bodhi says:

Oh my God. That picture is awful! Poor Rihanna, I hope she can work through this

  7. mojoman says:

am not even going to look at the picture knowing it’s going to upset and outrage me so much. CB’s career, reputation and social life is definitely over!

  8. CosVis says:

I was so shocked when I saw that photo. I imagine it was much worse the next day with the bruising really took effect. Poor girl. My heart goes out to her. Chris seriously needs some sort of intervention to prevent him from repeating this 🙁

  9. he's bad news. says:

i’m glad TMZ posted the picture.
It puts to rest the doubts in people’s minds about what Chris Brown did.

  10. Mrs.Darcy says:

I think it’s good that it’s on the internet if it will wake up anyone still trying to defend Brown, it makes any defense of him null and void. It might even help other victims of abuse if they are fans of hers, yes it’s a private photo but domestic abuse is still so hidden. For it to get a high profile, even though it is sad for Rihanna I think it might do alot of people good in the long run.

  11. Jenny says:

    ps: today is rihanna’s b-day!

  12. kiki says:

Chris Brown to redeem himdelf to the public

oh really? he can *** off

Those TMZ photos putting a famous face to Battered women its un acceptable in this day and age and if it makes certain people uncomfortable dont look .
It looks like he smashed her face in the dashboard and or steering wheel scratches and bites and it looks like a tiny bit of her ear is missing

  13. lisa says:

That photo made me feel sick. She’s such a beautiful girl and seeing her like that is just horrific. No girl deserves that. Someone needs to to beat his a$$ now and we can all take pics to post on the internet.
How embarrassing for her to have those out.

  14. kiki says:

WHY IS IT ” EMBARRASSING ” FOR HER??????

AGGGGG the one WHO SHOULD be embarrASSed is That punk who beat the shit out of her !!!!!!

  15. Kate says:

I’ve heard rumors that she is going back to Chris Brown, and I hope they are false. Hopefully she has good friends and family members by her side that will prevent him from contacting her, and persuade her to stay away from him.

  16. HolyMackrel says:

I noticed that about her ear too. It looks like she had an earring ripped out. Her expression is so sad and defeated…omg it broke my heart. I can’t imagine what she looked like days afterwards when the discoloration and sweeling really set in. Poor poor girl.

  17. Natasha says:

Yet another reason why I prefer CB to Perez, I wish I hadn’t seen that photo. Major kudos for having the integrity to not post it.

  18. Annie says:

I saw these photos yesterday and am inclined to agree with everyone who is glad CB didn’t post them too.

It’s just awful that we are viewing something that must be very painful for her (emotionally).

It’s bad enough being a victim of domestic violence, but to have it broadcast to the world. You feel weak enough as it is that this could happen, now you’re concerned that others might view you as weak. It’s not a good thing.

On the other hand, it does lay to rest anyone still defending that scumbag.

  19. Kimble says:

I have police photos of my face after a beating by my ex-husband and I have to say, I was in far far worse shape than Rihanna. I will forever be thankful that my photos were NOT made public.

My husband got 2 years’ probation and 50 hours of community service. It will be interesting to see if Chris Brown gets a lighter or more appropriate sentence than my ex got!!!!

  20. Wonder Woman says:

i hate to sound like an ass but if your celebrity what do you expect? your famous and pictures WILL be leaked of your downfall bc it makes money bc people like knowing celebrities are no better then them, besides being filthy rich

  21. Diva says:

Yes, unfortunately when you choose to be famous, you pretty much don’t get to choose what parts of your life are public or not.

Rihanna has nothing to be embarrassed about, she did nothing wrong. And the picture IS disturbing but I’m hoping that it will open some eyes.

  22. BoycottChrisBrown says:

I saw the picture. His career is DONE! Nobody will look at him the same. He’s making Ike Turner look pretty good right about now. Rihanna told the police that it was not the first time he put his hands on her. I betta bottom dollar that the DA is digging up old girlfriends to put on the stand that will testify that they have also been abused by him. Chris you better be glad that was not me, because my 3 brothers will have beat that azz to a pulp for sure!

  23. Wonder Woman says:

    BoycottChris:

He is making Ike loog good right now? I think thats very far fetched.

  24. dewyberg says:

I think it is a good decision that the picture of Rihanna was posted. I’m pretty sure this wasn’t the first time in their relationship that he’s been abusive. But by seeing this picture, it will clearly help Rihanna see that this relationship is not worth ever going back to. Unfortunately, it takes plunging down and hitting the bottom before you have the strength to get out of an abusive relationship. Be strong, girl.

  25. Flour says:

I hope that she’s taking some of her hideaway and recoup time and coming to these sites. Granted, the photo being leaked will probably embarrass her but hopefully the outpouring of graciousness and love from you all will lift her spirits and make her realize that, even if we’re strangers, she still has support. As for the rumours that she’s still with Chris, most victims won’t cooperate with the police if they have plans to continue the relationship. So that’s probably BS.

  26. TMZ is lower than low, scummier than scum, shittier than shit…ETC!!! Details will surface as to who leaked the photo of the aftermath of Rihanna’s beating (LAPD, SHAME on YOU!), and I would bet $$$$$ that TMZ was up to it, and PAID for it!!! Now wouldn’t THAT be a story: “TMZ – THE TV SHOW AND WEBSITE – SHUT DOWN DUE TO BEING SHITTIER THAN SHIT!”

  27. …(continuing)…Oh, and when the local news (WJW Cleveland) ran the story with the opinion that it is an outrage that the photo was leaked,”…THEY SHOWED THE PHOTO while expessing how wrong it is that it was leaked!!! Tabloid SHIT, local news SHIT…

  28. Aspen says:

The only thing she did “wrong,” persay, is choose and then stay with a man who was violent. This incident was NOT the first time he was inappropriate with her. There has likely been a slow progression of violence in the relationship because that’s how it works. The useful lesson that can come from this is the warning that young girls just don’t seem to HEAR until they end up looking like this poor woman’s photo. That is: The FIRST time he puts his hands on you in anger needs to be the LAST time…and it doesn’t matter if he’s sorry or if you love him.

Good men don’t hit their women. Ever.

I am so very sorry Rihanna is going through this. I only pray she doesn’t do the typical battered woman routine and go back to him. It takes a great deal of internal and emotional work to break out of one of these relationships. I hope she can do it before he has a chance to hurt her again.

  29. SixxKitty says:

I feel for her… Her life being splashed across the net like this and him being the closest to her doing this!
I hope his career is dead, i don’t wanna see the new improved Chris Brown in 6 months peddling his wares on talkshows about the ordeal he’s been through and the changed man he is.
I do however, look forward to Rihanna’s sucess and the better life she will have once she has healed and dealed with this..

  30. anom says:

seriously SixxKitty. I’m so afraid he’ll make a come back in 1yr by giving a People interview and they will entitle it ” Chris Brown: Inside His Pain”.

  31. coffee says:

i just saw the photo, it does look terrible… poor Rihanna

  32. Kristin Love says:

I saw that picture and wanted to cry… I feel so bad for RiRi… I was on vacation when this happened, didn’t have access to a computer or anything, and went to the store, and saw a magazine with a small part of the cover saying something about Chris Brown and Rihanna’s fight and I was like ummm what have I missed, read it and its really sad… I sure hope she leaves him and doesn’t go back to him… my mom has been a victim of domestic violence as have I, and we have both left the BOYS who have hit us… its horrible!!

All I have to say is RiRi, take your time, heal and come back when you are ready! and please… leave that loser!

  33. boomchakaboom says:

Damn. She really was beaten. I’ve seen much worse, which is to say domestic violence IS horrific, no matter who you are, but Rihanna got some hellacious injuries. Being choked unconscious is pretty serious. She really could have died. Chris Brown had a lot of rage he took out on her, and that’s scary. Where does he get such anger, especially considering his young age and success? WTF is wrong with him? Having the picture made public may help keep her from considering going back to him, since it will be impossible for her to deny the magnitude of the problem. So that’s a potential silver lining, anyway.

  34. YEP!!!…I was right; TMZ WAS up to it and DID pay ($62,500.00) to an LAPD official for the photo of a beaten Rihanna!…Harvey Levin and your TMZ: YOU ARE SCUMMMMM!!!!!
