Have George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin moved up their wedding to August?

CLO-1429 -CoverFinal

I have no qualms about poking the bear known as George Clooney. I’m actually hoping that his new thing is sending out lengthy missives telling off the blogs and tabloid media outlets. Don’t let me down, Clooney! Anyway, for a while now, Closer Magazine has been trying to get a foothold in “nice” celebrity coverage. We get sent a lot of stuff about the older generation celebs, and hand to God, most of the stories are like, “Remember this celebrity? He’s not dead, and he spoke to Closer!” This Clooney cover is one of the first times that they had a cover subject that I was interested in. So, what does the “nice” gossip mag have to say about Clooney? Well, apparently he’s moving up the wedding.

Closer Weekly can exclusively reveal George Clooney and fiancée Amal Alamuddin are so excited to get married, they’re pushing their wedding date up a month!

“He’s planning on changing the date from September to mid-August to make sure the weather is just right,” a confidant close to the couple tells Closer.

As for A-list attendees? “Those expected to be on the guest list include Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Sandra Bullock, Bono, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, and perhaps even Barack and Michelle Obama,” a source also tells the mag.

And while Ocean’s Eleven co-star Brad was rumored to be George’s pick for best man, insiders tell Closer they believe he’ll go with his producing partner Grant Heslov or a close friend like Rande. George’s cousin, NCIS: Los Angeles actor Miguel Ferrer, is expected to be a groomsman, while Amal’s sister Tala will likely be her maid of honor, and her brothers Ziad and Samer will play roles as well.

Wedding planner expert, Lisa Vorce, of Lisa Vorce CO, tells Closer Italy is an ideal place for celebrities craving privacy to tie the knot.

“Italians in general are not star struck — and there are so many remote and isolated villas — so it makes it a wonderful destination for celebrities,” Lisa explains. “For non-celebrities as well — you can’t get much better than Italy,” she adds. “It’s a country focused on good food, good wine, and amore! What else do you need?”

[From Closer Weekly]

I think Grant Heslove, Miguel Ferrer or even Rande Gerber are much better candidates for George’s best man. It wouldn’t be Matt Damon or Brad Pitt. Let’s be real. George loves Matt and Brad, but Grant, Miguel and Rande are his boys. The most unbelievable part is that the Obamas would fly to Como to attend George’s wedding, but it’s just the kind of pipe dream that makes for a perfect gossip story. As for the main crux of the story – that George and Amal will marry in August not September – it could happen. The wedding planning seems to be going at a steady clip and George’s parents and Amal’s parents are spending a lot of time in Como these days.

ELOPE NOW!!!!!! I can’t take it any more!

  2. lisa says:

i wonder what color her mother’s feather visor will be at the wedding?

  3. HappyMom says:

    The Obamas??!! Oh please.

  4. marjalane says:

There’s just something so hinky about this eye rollingly, over the top wedding. It makes me think George is having some kind of personal crisis over the actual one on one aspect of getting married. He’s never seemed to be the flamboyant big, big, bigger type.

    • Juliette says:

Also: What’s the rush? If its meant to be, its meant to be.
I see no need to rush to the alter within a year of meeting and dating.

      • Malak says:

        She is probably pregnant!
I was also thinking the Pitts will be in Malta from the end of August.

    • Angie says:

Seriously! The whole roll out is so unlike the calm and dignified persona he’s always tried to cultivate. It’s the Hollywood version of whether a tree falling in the woods with nobody to hear it makes a sound. If a movie star gets engaged with no publicist to proclaim it does the movie star actually exist?

    • Francis says:

All he needs is a couch jump.

  5. kimber says:

A bump from September to august? Not sure how that’s “omg”. Money and the press this…we’ll continue to call “relationship” brings pays for any needed changes.

Now if I was told it was next week and Matt was presiding the nuptials while ben brought his wife Jen, his favorite escort, and his bookie….then yeah. Omg. ; p

    • Malak says:

Ben will only be going if there is a casino in that village (where they’ll have the wedding).

  6. Micki says:

I’m SO excited that they are excited! I hope their guests share that excitement to the full and will obligingly change their summer plans as not to miss the eight world wonder

    • Malak says:

I was wondering if it was her father who said that she could do better. After all, I haven’t seen him in the pictures out so far. Maybe I missed seeing him.

  7. Truthtful says:

He is starting to look really grandpa’-ish, and looks more like the father of the bride (or groom) than the groom himselfs!

This whole wedding is just confirming that the rumors about him might be true: too exposed, too much information and too much of a rush, everything is leaked too much to the press to be genuine (even his “letter” to daily mail)

The guy should elope quietly at 54 yrs old if it’s a true wedding he should be private about it

Otherwise good luck to her… she is marrying a grandpa, not the eligible bachelor he was 10 years ago!

    • Belle Epoch says:

His face looks dramatically different to me! Any word on plastic surgery? With the magazine you don’t know what is PhotoShop, but in the head shot he seems to be going for the Cary Grant/Gregory Peck look big time. Oh the perils of marrying a younger woman!

      • frisbeejada says:

Nah it’s all due to the ‘healthy diet’ Amal insisted on a couple of weeks ago (so he could go away and quietly get refreshed/surgery that we weren’t supposed to notice) I totally agree with you about the Cary Grant thing, he’s been trying to be Cary Grant for years and years which is a pity, there was only one Cary Grant (and Gregory Peck in ‘To Kill a Mockingbird – sigh – they just don’t make em like that anymore….)

      • Malak says:

Who knows. I did read that he spent $50,000 on his teeth. He said it himself in an interview (unless the magazine made it up).

  8. Dorky says:

Sorry, I just really can’t take seriously a lawyer who dresses like a toddler (even on her off time).

  9. feebee says:

I know times have changed but if JFK Jr could do it… c’mon George – it doesn’t have to be this way.

Look, whatever it is I hope they do what they want and are happy. Also, while it’s nobody’s business I’d be happy to see a statement about no babies for them (if that was the case) so that we’re not subjected to an Amal bump watch for the next four or five years. Actually even if it wasn’t the case it might be helpful.

Obamas? Don’t think so, but it’d be tempting on both sides wouldn’t it? It makes me wonder about how many things Presidents really do have to forgo because of the presidency that ordinarily would be a great experience (on this sort of scale i.e. a high profile wedding, not whatever’s on the list of really bad ideas for presidents).

    • Christin says:

John and Carolyn pulled off a great surprise. Their little wedding looked beautiful. Still can’t believe it will be 15 years next week since they left us.

  10. Hautie says:

They are still is the oddest couple to me.

And what is Vegas odds on it lasting? Longer than 2 years?

  11. FingerBinger says:

If George and Amal moved the date of their wedding then good for them. I’m more curious about the “painful decision” Celine Dion made about her husband.

    • aqua says:

Celine Dion “painful decision” was to no longer have her husband as her manager due to his failing health.

  12. kimber says:

His people try too hard with her , the wedding, the info coming out, I’d be more accepting if this whole thing didnt seem so fake and forced.

    • Candy Love says:

      ^ 1000000+

Why are his people trying so hard with this.

    • Santolina says:

They’re trying so hard because they have to completely overhaul his carefully crafted image as “heterosexual bachelor” (to fend off gay rumors) to “married man” and it’s not that easy to REBRAND someone. Basically, nobody’s buying it!

  13. Fan says:

Let’s leave George alone now. Let him sort this out himself so that he has nobody to blame. Good luck and congratulation in advance.

  14. Altariel says:

These two again! And what’s with all the kiddie fashions!! She gonna wear a bib on her wedding dress?…oh right, Kim…

  15. Altariel says:

Geez the media adores this guy. Well, it’s good for some things…we get to make more fun of his antics and it can lead to, as Kaiser said, more lengthy missives telling off media outlets. Because they are entertaining. And bc he is George Clooney. Enough said.

I’ll never forget “Diana is dead.”. We were still reeling from hearing she’d died, and he goes out on his soap box. He’s been like this a very very long time, lol.

    • Francis says:

That was truly odd, I remember looking at all the tragic footage of Diana and feeling sorry for her sons and suddenly. George is giving a speech, holding court with the press speaking about Diana. I know he’s a celebrity, but I just didn’t get it why HE had to speak out when he did.

  16. aqua says:

Can anyone else see her nipples through that dress?

  17. Mrs McCubbins says:

She’s an attractive woman and I mostly like her quirky styling but this dress looks like every kind of awful to me. Love the shoes!

    • Santolina says:

She has an elegant, chiseled face and statuesque figure that doesn’t go well with the mini-dresses and the quirky hipster/retro/90’s thing she does. It’s all wrong for her. She should lower her hemlines and go with classic, cleaner lines when dressing down (think Tilda Swinton’s character in “I Am Love”). She’s selling herself short (no pun intended) on many levels.

  18. Lisa says:

Assuming their going to have children, I don’t understand how women get ragged on for having a child 40 plus but no one even mentions HIS age. Researchers now believe that once a woman hits 35, the man’s age is as important as the woman’s in determining if a child will get down’s syndrome and it increases by 25% if her partner is 40 plus. (If a woman is 40+ her odds double if her partner is 40+.)

Other studies show a man at age 40 is at as high a risk to have a child with schizophrenia as a woman is to have one with down’s syndrome and is 6x as likely to have a child with autism. Her odds of having a child with bipolar disorder may be as high as 1 in 5 because he is 45+.

Children of men 45+ also, on average, have lower IQs, are 60% more likely to fail in school, and are 70% more likely to drop out of school. I don’t think researchers even know all the risks of the different mental and physical disorders related to advanced paternal age. They have just started studying it.

A woman I know had a child with a man in his late 40s before this research came out. Their child is four years old now and still can’t talk. He has an illness related to advanced paternal age, so it does happen, even though older men would prefer to believe it won’t happen to them.

Some studies suggest the older a man gets the less likely he is to get a woman pregnant, the longer it takes to get her pregnant and the more likely she is to have a miscarriage. Men 45+ are 5xs more likely to take a year or more to get a woman pregnant that a man in his 20s. If your partner is 40yrs old you are 5x more likely to have a miscarriage and the odds go up with each year the man ages past 40. She is ten times more likely to have a miscarriage because he is 50+. Scientists think it may be nature’s way of getting rid of fetuses conceived with sperm with too many mutations.

    • Truthtful says:

Because society is biased and sexist. And men prefer to cover the fact that they are also submitted to age that’s why!!

Plus most women don’t have a real education on the subject , they keep repeating why they heard about women, thinking men are fertile for ever.

Thanks for your very informative comment I hope that more and more women will be as aware as you on the subject

  19. Nimbolicious says:

I sort of wonder whether Rande Gerber is actually Clooney’s boyfriend. This whole thing still doesn’t seem real to me; I don’t know why.

  20. Mixtape says:

After all the ridiculous brouhaha about this “relationship” and purported wedding, particularly this week, I’m convinced Clooney’s one true love/hate/obsession is the press… He needs to stop hiding his feelings and come out of the closet as a pressexual right now!

  21. Fue McCormick says:

On the Closer photo he reminds me of that guy in Ghostbusters … Eugene Levy?
Also, I think his Dad will be his best man …

  22. Trashaddict says:

Anybody on the bandwagon that he’s grooming for a political career? That’s the only thing that makes sense to me. Also, don’t care what he’s had done, he looks like he’s aged 10 years in the last one.

    • Malak says:

He has a lot of baggage. He said it himself. Now he is marrying an Arab from a family that is very much against Israel.

    • Francis says:

But she’s an awful choice politically so why her if it’s political.
The woman doesn’t even have a green card,is she even allowed to vote?
Also her client list baggage is not good, the opposition will use it against George.

  23. Daffy says:

George made a new statement to USA today. He refuses DM’s apology.
George doesn’t know how to let it go….what an *ss ! It was the same with Steve Wynn’s fight.
    Grow up, George ! You’re 53 , not 10 !

  24. Francis says:

Just wait until the divorce and he’s fighting with Advil a few years from now.
George is going to be writing a lot of letters in years to come.
