You really should consider removing your link to drunken stepfather. I can’t seriously believe that you want to be associated with a site that makes light of domestic abuse, among other things.

ah, heres a tip for all women who considered abortion and didnt go through with it, DONT tell your child you wanted to abort them, what the hell do you think that would do to someones self esteem.?

I agree 110% with Jenny- REMOVE THE DRUNKEN STEPFATHER LINK! WTF is up with that??

  5. Anastasia Beaverhausen says:

Not to pile on, but I won’t ever click on a link that goes to Drunken Stepfather. He’s awful. There are worse words for his blog, but I’ll just stick with that.

I never knew that was a tradition, either. She doesn’t look half bad as Holly Golightly, but I’m really over Jennifer Love Hewitt. I can’t even think of why she’s famous. What was her big movie or TV show?

I’m sorry…that’s not cool. That imitation? No. Not cool at all.

  7. Anna says:

I think the comment about it being a tradition was ironic, folks. In line with the header about her losing her mind.

I think it’s just plain silly. The whole point of the scene in Breakfast at Tiffany’s was to show someone who could precisely *not* afford Tiffany’s jewelry. Jennifer may be cute and may even look okay dressed up as Holly Golightly but she could obviously afford an entire Tiffany’s store and I’m a bit miffed about the mockery she is (albeit unwittingly) making here. I just don’t like it and I especially don’t like the self-celebration, look-at-me-paparazzi thing she has going on. Christ, if you like to celebrate your 30th that’s fine with me but don’t make a photo op out of it. That’s just beyond conceited.

  8. Anna says:

Oh yeah, and I second the motion about drunken stepfather. CB, you are classier than this! It’s one thing to be vulgar and demeaning and it’s another to make fun at domestic abuse in that same manner (or any manner at all for that matter).

although i agree that the whole “holly golightly” thing is a bit silly, i also tend to think that calling a 30-year old woman a spinster is way harsh…

  12. jenny says:

    Morene:
It is estimated that one in three women in the world will suffer some form of domestic abuse during their lifetimes. It has also been shown that one of the most effective ways to end abuse among young adults is to foster a culture of zero tolerance for any abusive actions. You see me as being uptight by questioning why CB wants to associate with the perpetuation of a culture that not only allows, but glorifies domestic violence. I would argue that what you are actually witnessing is myself and others on this board refusing to accept any longer that DV can be the butt of jokes or something to be mocked or overlooked.

If that makes me uptight, then so be it. I hope that you are never the victim of the abuse that you take so lightly, as your comments suggest.

She said on The Tonight Show that she and her girlfriends were having a “Breakfast at Tiffanys” party for her birthday. That they were all going to dress up like Audrey Hepburn and just have a fun day.

    What’s the problem with fun?

    grrr @ no edit…

It’s a BIRTHDAY party… party decorations and costumes aren’t supposed to be anything BUT cheap.

My friends and I definitely do lots of silly things for our birthdays.

It’s the one day out of the year that people do! Cut the girl some slack. Definitely.

Actually I think the Drunken Stepfather link is one that, if examined closely, CB wouldn’t be very supportive of. I can’t imagine anyone who writes for CB supporting a site that thinks domestic abuse is funny.

  18. czarina says:

Actually I thought the Holly Golightly thing was totally cool!!!
I loved that movie as a teenager, and I remember my best friend and I used to have great fun finding those long cigarette holders and had a blast reminiscing about the movie during my first visit to Tiffany (in Chicago, not NY…but we still had think-back-to-the-movie-fun)
It’s not about being literal. It’s not about the jewelry or if Hewett (or even Holly Golightly) could afford to shop there.
It’s about the movie and what it means to you and what memories it has for you.
I never thought much of JLH before this, but now I think she is someone I would actually like if I met her.

Oh, come on. Jennifer is paying tribute to a classic movie and one of the most endearing and talented actresses of all time. I think that her gesture is charming and fun. Like Czarina, I never would have guessed that a kindred spirit might lurk within Jennifer Love Hewitt!

I think the Holly Golightly recreation is priceless and a wonderful birthday present from her mother, who set the whole thing up.

I dressed up as Holly for my 37th birthday costume party. If there had been a Tiffany’s near where I lived, I would have done a photo op there as well!

regardless of the content on his site, the Drunken Stepfather site has some pretty NASTY adds advertised on there. Lets just say I clicked on the link to the site and there were at least 2 advertisements that were XXX in nature and were VERY explicit. glad the kid was not looking over me shoulder.

That photo just makes me think of all the ways in which Hewitt can’t hold a candle to Hepburn. It’s probably mean to be a tribute, but Hewitt looks like some sort of sad, tacky parody of a true screen legend.

I am with everyone here who asked for no more Drunken Stepfather links- that site is gross and its author has an obvious contempt for women. I always wondered why Celebitchy included it… thanks for listening, CB!

Actually, Holly Golightly goes to Tiffany’s as a way to calm down her “mean reds,” not because she can’t afford it. In fact, she doesn’t want diamonds until she is older, because she thinks they would like silly on her.

What a fun idea! She’s had a crappy couple of years, turning 30 needed to be special – good on her mum for caring enough to come up with such a great idea. Good on JLH for being confident enough in herself to go for it! Bravo!
