Kim Kardashian appears on ‘Today’, defends her ‘fun little’ iOS game

Here are some photos of Kim Kardashian outside of her hotel yesterday in NYC. That skirt… my God. Why is she obsessed with making her hips look bigger? This was early in the morning, by the way. She was on her way to do two segments on the Today Show. First, she sat down early with Matt Lauer. They talked about whether she and Kanye will have any more babies (she says she wants one more and after that, she doesn’t know) and whether her new iOS game is bad for kids. Here’s the video:

When asked about the game and whether kids should be able to keep making purchases within the game, Kim says: “You just have to make sure that your parental controls are all set. I think you just have to be responsible, and don’t have your credit card linked to where your kid can just spend if they want to, or ask permission.” When asked if the game – which so many people are obsessed with – is a bad, message-wise, Kim says: “In the game, you definitely see that it’s just fun and it’s not really serious. You pick your friends, you pick your clothes. It’s just a fun little game, kind of like when people get into Candy Crush so much. Like, is it good to be obsessed with Candy? It’s just something fun to do. All games, I think, are just entertaining.”

After this segment, she must have just hung out in the green room and came back out for a segment with Hoda and Kathy Lee. She talks about her love with Kanye and how North always makes a “serious” face when she’s being photographed. The way she flips her hair over and over is so annoying. Here’s that video:

  1. It is what it is says:

She loves it when we talk about her hips…these people have their existence validated when other people hate on them or notice them at all.

  2. Jules says:

Parental controls? If I had impressionable children right now, one job as a good parent would be to teach my children not to be vapid and vain famewhores like this useless grifting family. My daughters would graduate from school and not get pi$$ed on in a sex video. What is wrong with people?

  3. Leah says:

The comment about North making a serious face for photos proves she spends all her time reading about herself and cares way too much about what people think. She spends her life trying to disprove negative things said about herself.

  4. Kate says:

She’s short and she has big boobs. It’s one thing to be tall and top heavy, but if you’re short you need to balance that out, hence the hip widening skirt.

    • Kaylah says:

That only makes sense if you’re straight up and down with two huge knockers on your chest. If you already have wide hips there’s literally no reason to further enlarge them.

  5. pretty says:

she looks very beautiful in these interview videos.

    • Aussie girl says:

So does medusa and if you looked her in the eyes you would turn to stone, just like Kim.

    • Ivy says:

I find her beautiful too . In a very botox-y kind of way , but still beautiful !

    • Nedsdag says:

She’s “beautiful” in a Mme Tussaud’s Wax Museum sort of way TBTH.

    • Sacred And Profane says:

Beautiful… She looks like one of the many kitsch, dead-eyed, creepy porcelain dolls my mother bequeathed to my daughter…

  6. Brittney B says:

I turned it off before she came on, but I watched Meryl Streep’s interview with Matt (ugh) just before this one. Her open disdain for Kim was the only good thing about it.

After Matt spent several minutes absolutely infuriating me and proving himself unworthy of Meryl’s greatness (“did your character’s ugly hair help you get into character?”/”what kind of soccer mom were you?”… I kid you not)… he started introducing the upcoming Kim interview. And I guess Meryl shook her head when he mentioned Kim’s “game app” during a cutaway, so of course he decided to inform the audience and grill her about why she shook her head. I doubt she loved that, but she did laugh at the very idea of it.

Meryl has no patience for Matt, but she’s too classy and smart to call him out when she’s using him to promote her work. Not so with Kim. HAH.

  7. Dani2 says:

Nude top, nude heels, unflattering skirt – who is her stylist and why do they hate her is much?
As for her game, she’s set to make a LOT of mints from the game so props to Evil Mastermind Kris I guess.

    • AlmondJoy says:

Kanye is her stylist, right? You know he’s a visionary! Lol

    • M.A.F. says:

The girls love of nude tops is disturbing.

    • Josephine says:

You forgot b**b spillage – she needs a bra fitting. It’s one thing to show ample cleavage, though I think it’s unflattering most of the time, but it’s quite another to show your breast tissue oozing over the side of your bar because you’re too dense to get properly fitted.

    • Dani2 says:

Ugh, my comment is full of so many spelling mistakes, boo 😔

@AlmondJoy Lol yes, a true visionary for the ages 😉

@M.A.F Right? This is what she always does, she finds a trend and she overdoes it.

@Josephine She needs to love herself already, she’s not super thin and theres nothing wrong with that.

    • Nedsdag says:

She reminds me of a Barbie doll who has gone through a trash compactor.

  8. Ice Queen says:

I’m so sick and tired of this woman. Please GO AWAY. And take your horrible style with you!!

Why oh why did I open this post? It’s always like watching a train-wreck.

  9. Barbiegirl says:

I have downloaded her game for curiosity (and because I am interviewing for gaming companies) and I have to admit it is quite fun and the graphic is good. The message is not that great (dating costs money but can make you advance fast in Hollywood) so meah…
What I do not like about the game is the super aggressive monetization strategy, in candy crush you can proceed to the next levels without paying a dime, on Kim ‘s game you are basically forced to monetize agressively early in the game otherwise it is difficult to proceed through the levels… Which I find irritating as I refuse to give her money. However from a mobile gaming perspective, it is a success as it forces you to monetize so in a way I once again have to give in and consider that, as much as she has no style/education/morale etc… She knows how to turn her brand into $, and that is something I cannot not notice.

    • Mia V. says:

I too downloaded her game just to see what the buzz was all about and it’s fun, it’s kind of addicting, but fun. I won’t spend real cash to buy things, but it was fun until you had to wait an whole hour to finish a photoshoot. She knows how to make money, we can’t deny that.

    • LeahMommy says:

I downloaded the game because I got bored with Candy Crush but it turned out to be really addictive and fun. I’m now an A list star(without spending a penny of my real money).
Funny story: over the weekend I lost 3 million fans because I was in the hospital for a couple days to have a baby and was unable to play and then I lost another 3 million fans because I was taking care of my newborn and didn’t have time for parties/photoshoots etc… Hilarious. I think that tells you something about Kim 😉

    • K says:

I made it to A-list in slightly over three weeks and I didn’t spend a single dime. It’s a fun, addictive game but people being impatient is what makes them spend the money they do. No one NEEDS a virtual wardrobe, they just WANT it and that’s why they end up spending the money they do.

      @LeahMommy

Lol, that happens to me all the time! Kim’s life must be a hoot. 😂😂😂😂

    • Michelle says:

She as in KRIS knows how to make money? I doubt Kim makes a single decision of her own. Kris and Kayne control her life. Kris definitely knows Kim’s audience and capitalizes on it.

      • hunter says:

Seacrest. Seacrest knows how to make more money more ways, I bet it wasn’t Kris’s idea. Kris only knows how to make money through fame whoring and sex.

    • Eve says:

I downloaded Kim’s game when it was just released (before it was advertised everywhere) because it was free and I found it very boring very quickly, it was a very 12 year old girl’s kind of game (which I usually like lol), so I am very surprised when people say it very addictive and even go and spent a lot of money in it.

    • Anna says:

The game is so addicting, I feel like I have to complete every fashion show and photoshoot, it’s so much fun though haha it’s the one game other than solitaire that I play regularly on my iPhone

  10. Audrey says:

I don’t blame Kim for this

Parents need to be aware and keep up with technology.

It’s not like her game is the only one doing this. I’ve been hearing about these in app purchase bills for a long time.

Don’t blame kim. It’s up to the parents to block it. This is a general technology issue, not a kardashian one

    • Erinn says:

It’s been an issue for years.

Look, if you’re going to link your account to your credit card, and then hand the phone or ipod over to your kid so it can mash away at buttons – you’re asking for trouble. It’s going to be an issue in ANY game, not just Kim’s.

  11. Lindy79 says:

I’d feel I had failed as a parent if my kids wanted to purchase anything to do with this lot however she does make a good point about parental controls.
I’ve lost count of the amount of stories I’ve seen online where parents are complaining about big companies ripping off their kids who ran up massive phone/data bills while on holiday or spend a fortune on games.
(including a picture of them holding up aforementioned bill looking angry/sad)
Eh you’re the parent. if you give your child a piece of technology it’s YOUR responsibility to make sure all the correct controls are in place to stop that happening. Advertisers have always aimed stuff at kids, but just because they want to doesn’t mean they can. Don’t give them your AppleID account details or remove the card details on it or contact their mobile provider and not authorise any data usage . Its not rocket science nor is it the companies fault you don’t monitor what your kids are doing.

Sorry it just smacks of this “blame everyone else” culture some people have adopted when it comes to raising their kids.
    *steps off soapbox*

    • AlmondJoy says:

Lindy, I agree with you! One thing though: Please don’t feel that you’ve failed as a parent if your child wants to download this game. Kids download dumb games all the time! Let me assure you, it has nothing to do with your parenting skills. It seem similar to all those makeover, shopping and fashion games.

  12. Lilacflowers says:

That skirt is hideous but that top is not flattering either.

  13. Sabrine says:

I like that she embraces her body shape. Her hips may be large and wide but she’s wearing a skirt that she likes, not worrying about what other people might say negatively of how it looks on her. I think that sends a message to not be ashamed of your body and appearance and live your life with confidence in yourself.

    • Eleonor says:

If her body was real and not the result of ton of plastic surgery and she would tell the truth about her size I could agree with you.

    • Amanduh says:

” I think that sends a message to not be ashamed of your body and appearance and live your life with confidence in yourself.”

      …yeah, in Bizarro world!

    • Kaylah says:

Kim the queen of photoshopped instagram pictures? Kim that even goes as far as setting up scheduled paparazzi photoshoots so she can be photoshopped ahead of time is the one the one the one that’s “spreading the message of embracing ones body”?
I’m sure there’s sarcasm in there somewhere I must have just missed it.

    • Cheryl Tunt says:

I can’t agree with this, she has spent lord only knows how much money on her face and body to completely alter it, not just some minor surgery or enhancements here or there but a total transformation. She seems insecure in herself, she openly belittled Khloe’s appearance in episodes of kuwtk more than once when she felt she looked better than her. That’s a mark of major insecurity. With KK it’s more than just enjoying looking good and taking pride in your appearance, it’s an obsession with being considered the hottest at all cost, even to detriment of building character and intellect imo

    • Josephine says:

She is the queen of hating her body and her face. She has flippin’ butchered herself for goodness sake and rants about her insecurities to the teens that follow her. She dresses that way b/c her life is one long troll. She wants the negative attention b/c she has no means to earn positive attention.

  14. anjulie says:

I’ve played this game for a bit and it’s no different than others I’ve played on my phone, from building farms/kingdoms/theme parks. They all try to sell you items or faster gameplay or what have you, so I’m surprised this game is getting so much attention. I guess its because of the Kardashians, which then just makes me sad because they are never going away, are they?

But I do hope that with the kajillion dollars Kim is getting for this she can hopefully buy a couple of bras that actually fit 😛

  15. Jenni says:

Why does she always wear condom-like-clothes? And she always wears those shoes that make her short legs shorter and chubbier.

  16. Ohreallynow says:

Every time I see a pic of her walking around the streets she always has the exact same expression. Does her face not make any other expression. Never a smile or any emotions. Maybe I’m just not seeing those pics but she even posts the frown pics on her instagram. When she first came out I thought she was so pretty and stylish but now at least for me she has lost her appeal. She’s changed her face and style so much that I don’t get the appeal anymore.

  17. jwoolman says:

She’s just sold her likeness to be inserted into an existing game. She didn’t have any creative input, I’m sure. The game was popular before her name went on it.

And obviously she has never played Candy Crush. It’s not a game about eating candy. It’s a match three puzzle game that just uses candy images on the board. I suppose she thinks Bejeweled is all about buying jewelry… Candy Crush’s appeal is that it requires thinking to get through the diverse levels and also its excellent graphics.

  18. serena says:

I don’t get all the bashing she’s getting for that game. It’s just a game. I criticize her when there is a need to (often) but this seems silly.

  19. MonicaQ says:

Man, I hate to agree with this woman but it’s true. Parents are so quick to blame “the thing” and not themselves. How about your 6 year old not have a cell phone. Or not connect a credit card to it. Or maybe give them an older phone that can’t run these games. Or–and here’s something CRAZY–tell them not to do micro transactions. Shocking.

  20. Jayna says:

I saw the other day where she said Kanye liked her blonde and asked her if she was ever going to go blonde again. She said he would like her to go back blonde but it’s hard on her hair or something, but might wear blonde wigs sometimes because it’s fun to be blonde. He is obsessed with Beyonce, isn’t he? I thought when she went blonde it must be for Kanye and he was trying to turn her into Beyonce. It looks like that’s true.

    • I don’t think Kanye is obsessed with Beyoncé, at least not anymore. I think he’s always had a thing for Kim. As for the blonde preference, I just figured this is Kanye and his issues with race. He wants a blonde girl but it would hurt his image to date a blonde female because she would be white and Kanye can’t have that because it would look like he’s selling out. Maybe that statement is too controversial, but that’s the feeling I get from him. I could have sworn Amber Rose naturally had darker hair and then she got with Kanye and he made her cut it and dye it blonde. But it was okay because despite Amber Rose being very light, everyone was aware that she’s half. At least that how I think Kanye thinks.

Kim never tried to be blonde before and she should go back to that mentality because blonde doesn’t look good on her. She can’t pull it off.

      • Bess says:

Kanye didn’t just date a white woman, he married one.

Also, with the exception of President Obama, I can’t think of another successful AA man, who married a woman with a darker complexion than his own.

  21. Honeybea says:

“Amazing”, “so great”, “Its crazy!!”, “obsessed” – these four words would be the only ones if the kardashian wrote their own diktionary (notice its spelt with a k and not c). Read a damn book, seriously!

  22. eliza says:

Let’s see: Trying to avoid being sued over her video game by comparing it to a popular game: Check

Letting the world know she is STILL in love with Kanye: Check

Giving excuses why North looks miserable and as if her parents are strangers to her: Check.

Blaming parents for her rip off game being a rip off: Check.

All in a days work of excuse making.

  23. Hissyfit says:

I don’t know why people are upset by her game app. Apps get rip all the time. Although I can’t stand her, she knows how to make money and I can’t hate her for that.

She needs to dress up for her shape and size now! That outfit is horrendous!

  24. Dany says:

why should she have to defend her game app?

  25. Irishserra says:

LOL!!!! The questions from Matt about the feeling of being married. I love how he totally goes along with her and pretends like she’s never been married before… multiple times!

  26. ketjo says:

Other then put her name on it and let them use her image I don’t imagine she had a thing to do with its design or the way it works cause its standard issue game format….So please stop giving her credit for the game which some game designer/artist worked hard on….Like working on a project for a year and having you boss take complete credit for it…..

  27. Dommy Dearest says:

Anyone that plays this game I judge and I judge hard. No better than the vacant drones that sit in front of their television to watch their scripted reality show.

  28. holly hobby says:

She’s full of baloney. You have to provide cc info on file in order to use the Apple App Center. Telling parents to leave off their cc info on file is not really an option.

I guess she didn’t hear about some author’s kid (the name escapes me but it was in the news) running up $$$ by buying crap for her craptastic game.

She sucks. I hope North West and South (the future kid) runs up their apple accounts with over a million dollars. Then she can stop blithely telling people it isn’t a problem.

    • jwoolman says:

Parents can set an Apple store password that is strong enough that a typical person can’t guess it. (If their kid can, they have a much different problem and should just take away the electronics…) First thing to do is turn off in-app purchases in Settings under Restrictions (make sure a separate numerical password is required to alter restrictions, something different than the code used to unlock the phone itself). Then in the same list, set require password (for purchases) IMMEDIATELY. This means that if the kid wants to download even free games, he or she has to bring the device to the parent who will then enter the password without the kid being able to see the typing directly or indirectly.

What burned some people was that they didn’t realize the default setting was in-app purchases ON and the window for downloading without entering the password again was 15 minutes by default. That was enough time for a kid to spend hundreds of dollars without realizing it was real cash. The games push hard to get you to buy the stuff, so it’s easy for that to happen. Even Candy Crush has become more aggressive- when you fail to clear a level now, instead of just zipping you to the try again screen, they proclaim you a loser and ask if you want to buy more time or whatever. I have in-app purchases turned off myself so I don’t click in the wrong place. It is deliberately confusing.

Another option is just to buy apps as gifts and transfer them to the kid’s phone. I don’t know if the same can be done with in-app purchases. If a credit card must be on file (which may not be so, especially now), maybe a fake one would work for a kid’s account? In any case, parents do have to learn that they need to be very careful with devices like this in the hands of kids. Otherwise they are just handing over the keys to the car and their credit card to seven year olds. Even if they think they can trust their kids- they can’t trust their kid’s friends or a thief.

  29. lisa says:

i havent seen contouring that harsh outside of a pride parade float

  30. Bess says:

I wonder if a very reputable, high-end plastic surgeon would even work on Kim at this point. Do they really want to be associated with someone who is beginning to resemble a plastic mannequin?

  31. kitty-bye says:

She is like the incredible hulk but in female form 😀
