Actress Cate Blanchett cut a startling figure on the red carpet at the Costume Institute Gala in New York, sparking fears for her health.

Looking pale and incredibly gaunt in a metallic fringed gown, the Oscar-nominated star’s collarbone appeared to be protruding from her now tiny frame.

Blanchett has always been slender, slim,ethereal figure has long been a designer’s dream on the red carpet.

But Australian-born Blanchett’s new skeletal appearance suggests she may have succumb to Hollywood’s size zero phenomenon.

I really hope she hasn’t fallen for this size zero fad, and I equally hope that she is not so ill in any way that may have caused this dramatic weight loss. Blanchett has always been a stunning woman in her own right and one of Hollywood’s most down to earth actresses (I had read somewhere once that she travels around London via bus, instead of by ridiculous stretch limos as most celebs tend to do).

Please Cate, eat a Quarter Pounder with Cheese or something. It’s painful to see you look like that. If Nicole Richie’s crazy ass can do it, surely you can too.
