Now that was a truly talented actor.

He had a great career and a long life.

  2. Kiddo says:

Holy moley, Nick Cannon’s dad sounds drunk, completely illiterate, or both. But even if you can’t choose, add misogynist to that list.

Emmy Rossum doesn’t look terrible. We’ve seen much worse.

    RIP Lord Attenborough.

Here a thing… Oh my God I was laughing so hard my co workers think I was having seizures over here. That post was the best ever…

      • Kiddo says:

Here a thing, there a thing.

      • Kiddo says:

Apparently he’s an author. So there’s more here a thing for your literary indulgences.

        Wow.

        From his book:

“A woman’s purpose can NOT be fulfilled if she has never given birth from her womb, which is also intended to reproduce life.”

“A woman’s purpose in life is to bare the seed of a man and give birth to a child so that life can go on. The definition in Merriam-Webster Dictionary of a woman is: female human being, wife, lover, or sweetheart. Wikipedia’s biological definition states a woman as being that of which: involves nurturing children, or in some cultures, attracting a mate. These examples display those of a woman’s purpose to populate the world with a male partner.”

Besides the fact that the writing is atrocious (redundant much?) I think it’s safe to say this dude is a misogynist of the highest order.

Also, he needs to fire his editor. So many grammatical errors and misspellings.

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT advocating that any one read that crap. I got about five paragraphs in and now I have a searing headache from repetitively banging my head against my desk.

On the plus side, it’s nice of him to do the work of Google and give us Wikepedia and Merriam-Webster’s definition of woman to us. Us women folk needed to be edumacated!! Now let’s go get knocked up so our lives will be worth something.

    • Diana says:

English is definitely not a first language for him. Thanks for the link and response, Kiddo.

    • Diana says:

Don’t!!! His views are still a$$ backwards and mysogynistic!

  3. mia girl says:

    RIP Mr Attenborough
Thank you for making the film Ghandi… it had a profound impact on me.

  4. Ellen says:

    RIP Richard

Not that it matters but he died aged 90 just 5 short of his 91st birthday. You might want to change that

    • FLORC says:

I think when people got the news they didn’t count days he was gone. Just assumed he passed the moment they got the news.
Or maybe they just round up when you’re that old. Still, he lived to be 90. Not 91 officially.

  5. TheCountess says:

    RIP Dickie.

  6. Christin says:

The Great Escape recently aired, following James Garner’s passing. I thought Richard’s performance was very memorable amid such a stellar ensemble cast.

He and his wife were married nearly 70 years.

  7. Mia4S says:

Take the time if you can to read up on Lord Attenborough. An amazing life and apparently a very nice man. I know he had great difficulty after the death of his daughter and granddaughter in the tsunami, so I hope he has peace and has seen them again.

  8. Chris says:

Ah Dickie! A wonderful man, and one hell of an actor…..I give you ( or would, If I could) Brighton Rock. Rest in peace, you were very much loved.

  9. Gretchen says:

Well, f*ck. Such a talented actor and director and an icon of British film. RIP Richard Attenborough.

  10. icerose says:

wonderful actor and director-one of the old school
    lovely tribute in the Guardian
    http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/aug/24/richard-attenborough-death-sad-british-film-industry

” Later, when he was casting his Chaplin biopic, Attenborough had the luck to chance upon the mercurial young actor Robert Downey Jr, who could do such an eerie impersonation. Again, Attenborough showed his sureness of touch: cast a brilliant unknown, so that the picture itself was the star.”

  11. Sam says:

Well I guess this means next week we’ll be treated to a People magazine cover featuring a Duggar, Kardashian or Gosselin with a quick sidebar tribute to Richard Attenborough.

(My kid absolutely loves his version of Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street. A hard movie to remake, and yet he carried it off well).

  12. aims says:

    Happy birthday Alex.

    • JustChristy says:

@TOK, I might have laughed a little too heartily at the kitty on the sweeper bot. Cats. That would certainly explain a lot regarding the stuff that is neglected at my local pizzeria. Thank you for the giggles! 🙂

  16. delorb says:

This is so sad. For some reason I thought these legends would live forever. Garner, Bacall, Wallach (just to name a few) RIP Sir Attenborough

  17. Adrien says:

I attended a talk and David Attenborough was one of the speakers. One of the ladies approached him and she told hm she was a fan of his acting including Harry Potter’s Dumbledore. That was Richard Harris, lady. Richard Attenborough is/was the actor and director. Good thing she didn’t bring up MacArthur’s park. She got them all mixed up.
RIP, Richard Attenborough. The movie you directed, “Passage to India” is one of the best films ever.

  18. Goodnight says:

Very sad, he was a great man. RIP.
