Halle Berry wasn’t nominated for anything last night. She couldn’t have been, because she only made the jump to television this year. She was just one of the bigger name presenters, and she owned that stage when she floated out to announce the final Emmy, for Lead Drama. (Breaking Bad FTW.)
Halle wore this amazing Elie Saab gown in a light lilac color. The dress fits her like a glove and features a diaphanous skirt and modern gold belt. It reminds me of her character Molly’s fashion on Extant. Molly is always wearing contemporary, draped fashion in solid colors. Halle hit it out of the park here, I’m so impressed. Her styling is spot on too.
Edie Falco also looked incredible in a bold Escada gown that is tailored perfectly for her. I’m not sure what to call this purplish blue color, but an online color tool tells me it’s called “Christalle,” which I haven’t heard of before. I really like this dress on her. Edie was nominated for lead actress in a comedy, for Nurse Jackie, which went to Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
Nominated in the same category, for her work in Mike & Molly, we have Melissa McCarthy in custom Marchesa. I normally dislike Marchesa’s design, but this is a pretty gown and a change from her usual designers. I like the sequin belt although the tulle skirt is a little much.
Presenter Debra Messing was in a full length Angel Sanchez black dress featuring sheer asymmetric lines. In some light this dress looks like a deep navy blue, but I do think it’s black. I know many people will find this boring, but it’s something I would wear. I favor clean contemporary design and this dress is an excellent example of that. It’s a nice choice and a unique look.

yep. she’s a gorgeous woman (great dress! that hair!) but she’s looked ‘toxy/filled for a couple of years, and it’s only getting worse. shame.
She totally does, first thing I noticed after I wished her dress was “Christalle”. Worst name ever for a color, btw. Sounds like one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends. (Apologies in advance to any of Christalles and/or Hugh’s gfs reading this.)

Halle was on a talk show last week and I was stunned at how beautiful she looked. Now here she is again looking equally if not more gorgeous. Everything is perfection, those arms, those shoulders, the stunning figure, that face. She won the genetics lottery. Her hair also looks so much more attractive being a little longer. I think it’s styled a little funky because of the show she’s on.
I wanted her to get her hair out of her eyes. But then, I spend half of every episode of Extant wanting her to get her hair out of her eyes.
Me too, it drives me nuts! The bangs are curly in Extant too, they’re just so long/in her face! Other than that I like the show’s styling, I mean it’s kind of vaguely Star Trek-y and I guess they don’t use synthetic dye or something in the future because the colours are all neutral. I find myself getting distracted by the sweaters or lovely Goran and then I’ve missed some convoluted alien/robot /conspiracy plot point though, agh!
Halle Looks great and listen To be Marchesa and to be Melissa? This is a win for both ..cause they both usually dont do themselves no favors on red carpet

It is a hot mess, and sort of looks a little greyish when contrasted to the dusty lilac dress color. She’s too matchy-matchy with the aubergine eye shadow and the amethyst earrings, too.
It’s beach hair.

Melissa McCarthy is getting closer, but it’s the neckline that kills it every time. Also, I think she would look better in a deep jewel tone instead of basic black. The whole thing is a just a little too boring, but it’s getting better!

I agree – it needed a deep V neckline to elongate her neck. And maybe lace sleeves to lighten them up, so she doesn’t look so blocky on top. But she is definitely getting closer!
Totally agree about Melissa! Boring neckline and PLEASE NO BLACK! There is a law that all fat people must wear black (to “make them look slimmer”) so I have worn nothing but black for 30 years. Finally I decided f*ck this and got some pink pants Melissa needs COLOR!!!
Black makes you look 6% thinner. I always think I look smaller in black but maybe it’s more in my own mind than in that of the beholder.

Gosh, Halle is just such a beautiful woman. I actually like the juxtaposition of her punky hair with the softness of her dress.

I think her face has been looking very tired for the past two three years ,she’s still beautiful but looks worn out around the eyes I wonder if it’s all the drama of fighting the past few years

Halle is undeniably looking beautiful, but I find the all-lilac a bit flat, perhaps some other shoe color/earrings…but ok, it’s just a matter of taste. I also think she looks tired, and that hair in her face disturbs me. Debra Messing looks wonderful, I like those simple lines.
Halle’s hair is a weave. Saw it on another site when she was at Disneyland with her daughter and the wind was blowing her hair. You could see the tracks near her scalp.
This woman has the loveliest bone structure…Angie has this on her face too. Halle has the whole package and really knows how to carry a gown (without it carrying her!)
I like all the dresses, and the ladies look stunning, but I feel like I have seen “that look” worn by Halle B. a lot, but there is nothing wrong with that either.

I’m not fussy about prom-dress MM, but every other gown here is superb, really stunning.
I just wish HB’s bangs were a bit shorter. She looks uncomfortable and a little outdone by her hair. Or that could just be the crazy coming through.
