I usually brace myself for bad fashion when it comes to Kristen Wiig, but she brought her very best game to the Emmys last night. She must have a new stylist because she looks fantastic instead of frumpy. Kristen wore this flattering Vera Wang custom halter gown made of white silk. The thigh-high slit makes this dress pop. The tailoring may be a little off, but I think any awkwardness can be attributed to Kristen’s posture. She’s not used to the siren look, so she’s not working it. One has permission to pose hard in a dress like this. Work it! Kristen’s purposely mussed hair and smoky makeup works well with the dress. This is a major win for her.
Amanda Peet debuted her pregnancy last night in this floaty Giambattista Valli number. Amanda is married to GOT showrunner David Benioff (they’re expecting their third child). An empire waist is an excellent choice to clothe a bump, and Amanda gets a pass for the floral print. To her credit, she chose not to wear the satin coat that came with the runway version of this dress. What’s going on with her hair though?
Anna Chlumsky from Veep (and My Girl!) wore a lovely Zac Posen dress with structured detailing on top. She looked very sophisticated with simple jewelry (love those amber-drop earrings) and a gold clutch. Her hair was done in a simple french twist, and bold eyes completed the look.
Camila Alves wore a distractingly geometric Zuhair Murad dress. The nude cutouts are overdone, and the dress looks pretty tacky overall. Her side of Matthew McConaughey was black and blue and orange all over. Matty didn’t win his True Detective nomination, but that’s okay. As Jimmy Kimmel jokingly pointed out from the stage, Matthew doesn’t have to win everything this year.

Camila looks gorgeous, love the dress. Kristen Wiig looks uncomfortable as if she’d rather be anywhere else but on the red carpet in a dress that fits so poorly on the top. I don’t see a belly button anywhere.

I love me some Kristin Wiig, but I don’t think she looks great. Her hair is too blond, eye make- up is harsh and her dress is ill-fitting around the bust.

Now Anna Chlumsky is a total knockout, styled perfectly, to boot.

Amanda Peet dresses quirky a lot, it’s not the pregnancy. She’s like a more high fashion Zooey D. I think Kristen looks just awful, I much prefer her hair a bit darker, the colour is ageing her and the dress is just a gaping side boob nightie. Camilla Alves, it’s too doily for my liking but her body and face are insane. Matthew, lay off the furniture polish dude!
Yes, Wiig’s hair looks fried and the unconstructed dress is accentuating her figure/posture flaws. The overall effect is “tired.”
I’m sorry, but the first reaction I had to Kristen Wiig was “Gosh, her boobs look so sad.” It doesn’t look like their getting any support there at all – the bust clearly doesn’t really fit her.
Then again, at least she didn’t jack her boobs like poor Viola Davis did. When she walked out on stage all I could think was “ouch.”
Not sure why this bugs me, but I hate when you can see the outline of someone’s bellybutton through their dress on the red carpet. It’s a weird pet peeve, I know.

I love Anna’z dress but not on her. Camilla is of course gorgeous, but that dress looks like those cut-out doilies crafters insist on making. And them giving them to you. Oh, god I hate that.

Um, nope. Not a major win for Kristen Wiig, that dress makes her boobs saggy, it shows her stomach and looks like a nightgown. Also she needed to brighten up her eyes with a different make up. This is what I call an effortless awful look.
Alves’s dress would look tacky on anyone but her, but she could wear a Pillsbury flour sack with three X’s on it and look drop-dead gorgeous.

Kristen looks like she is trying to “single white female” Jennifer Aniston. As for Camila and Matthew — their outfits look terrible together! Didn’t they show each what they were going to wear beforehand or did they ride in separate limos to the freaking red carpet and only moments before being papped, take the ray-bans off and give each other a once over?
Did anyone notice how utterly pissed off Camila Alves looked when the camera cut to her and Matthew a couple of times during the Emmys? This was way before they found out that he lost. The body language was insane, too. Their legs and bodies pointing away from each other and she looked either super bored or angry as hell. Maybe both.
It jumped out at me, so I wondered if anyone else noticed it.
Kristen needs to stop smoking.
