Here are some photos of Nick Cannon leaving the Manhattan apartment he used to share with Mariah Carey. Most reports claim that Mariah stayed in the apartment and Nick got a separate place. We could assume that he stopped by his old apartment to see his children, or perhaps check in on Ol’ Crazy Mimi and talk about their impending divorce. TMZ says that Nick and Mariah have actually been getting along a lot better now that they’re not pretending everything is fine:
Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are actually getting along — way better than when they were together and loathed each other — but TMZ has learned there is NO chance of a reconciliation.
TMZ first reported … the divorce is a “done deal” and the couple has been separated since May. We’re told they are not only on good terms — primarily for the sake of their kids — they even went to dinner Friday in Tribeca and shockingly no one even noticed.
It’s a big improvement from 6 months ago, when there was so much contempt they literally could not be in the same room together.
We’re told it’s all about the kids … they’re both committed to making the divorce as easy as possible on them. But — let’s just say one side tells us — they will NEVER get back together.
I don’t understand why everyone always assumes that a couple would or could get back together after they’ve already gone through the trouble of announcing their split. Most estranged couples – especially those with kids – get along a lot better once they’re not living under the same roof and when there’s no pressure to keep up happy-couple appearances. So, of course Mariah and Nick are getting along better these days. They don’t have to deal with one another’s bulls—t 24-7 anymore. Think of Goop and Chris Martin – they too seemed so much happier when they finally gave up the ghost.
Meanwhile, Nick’s father has been talking to several media outlets, telling all about his son’s marriage. It’s pretty off-side and James Cannon seems… I don’t know. He should let Nick and Mariah figure their stuff out without chiming in publicly about them. James Cannon says Nick never cheated on or “beat” Mariah (good to know?) and that Nick should have focused more on Mariah’s career. Of course, James also says that Mariah is an “angel” and he never “saw her as diva,” so clearly this man has issues. You can go here to read more of his comments.

i was so shocked when i saw recent pictures. It’s not as if i was paying attention to him per se. in my mind he was frozen at 15yrs old at most. i can’t believe how old he looks!!! presidentail aging is the only comparison.
Nick actually got very sick a couple of years back, his kidneys shut down. I’m pretty sure he was near death. He started looking rough after that.
Of course a bad marriage can do that, but he looked about 60 for a while after that stint in the hospital.

He always thought she was an angel not a diva doesn’t mean that he doesn’t think she isn’t a diva now, especially coupled with the first statement about how it (the marriage) would have lasted if Nick only worked on Mariah’s career. And he brings up how Nick could have cheated, if he wanted to, as if he did Mariah a favor by not doing so.
He seems to have graduated to a much more subtle tone of shading versus the last hardly veiled questions about what a man should do.*

Honestly, I think this is gonna get kids-in-kitchen-baking-a cake messy. He could have lots of interesting stories to tell, and I’m sure she has something to say about his (rumored) infidelities. It’s just another celeb couple splitting up. If the money is agreed upon, we won’t hear too much. If not, things will get interesting.
Hmmm. I think it will be restrained. There’s a lot of talk about various Hollywood/show biz marriages that are fake, beards and what not. I don’t believe most of that but this was one I always felt was a straight up arrangement. I don’t think either are hurting that much and money’s been arranged long ago.
Everyone always talks about how difficult it must be to live with Mariah, but Nick seems like he would be too. he’s always bouncing off the walls and seems exhausting. I don’t think these two should have married to begin with. Nick seems like he just loved the idea of Mariah and Mariah probably just liked having someone so enamoured with her.
