Justin Theroux went solo to the post-Emmy parties, wore a ‘gaudy’ gold ring

Justin Theroux accumulated enough points on his Chore Chart, so Jennifer Aniston let him go out and play with his friends on Emmy night. She made him wear a big ring though. She probably told him to wear a t-shirt that said “I call my girlfriend to check in every ten minutes,” but he refused. He had enough Chore Chart points to go out without the t-shirt! So, that’s basically Us Weekly’s story. Justin went to some of the post-Emmy parties so he could hang out with all of the cool people. And Jennifer was nowhere to be seen. JustJen Conspiracy!

What’s up with the ring?! Justin Theroux wore a massive ring on that finger while attending HBO’s official Emmys afterparty — without fiancee Jennifer Aniston — on Monday, Aug. 25, at the Pacific Design Center in Hollywood.

An observer inside the bash note to Us Weekly that The Leftovers hunk, 43, “appeared to be in a great mood,” even without his mega-famous significant other by his side. Still, solo Theroux, in the spotlight lately for his intense Leftovers performance, was “jovial,” “friendly,” and happy to run into pals like Julianna Margulies and Sarah Paulson, a second eyewitness said. According to one observer, Best Actress in a Drama winner Margulies and Theroux even broke it down on the dance floor when the DJ played “Mr. Saxobeat.”

Added the insider, “It was weird that Jen didn’t come, because it seemed like Justin was having a great time catching up with friends.” The actor and screenwriter, who was the main focus at the event, even “held court at a table in the center of the party.”

Bigger than Theroux, though, was the ring he was wearing on his left hand. An observer described it as a “big gold class ring,” which observers immediately noticed. “It was clearly not a wedding band,” one insider noted, while another described it as a “large gaudy ring.” (Theroux has been spotted wearing the ring on previous occasions.)

[From Us Weekly]

Hm… obviously, a person can out to party without their significant other and it doesn’t mean anything. But the “sources” are very interesting. “It was weird that Jen didn’t come, because it seemed like Justin was having a great time catching up with friends.” What does that even mean? That Jennifer would have loved to party with Justin and it’s a shame he wouldn’t let her come out with him? I doubt that’s what happened. My theory is that Jennifer didn’t want to party at the post-Emmy events because she’s a big movie star and she doesn’t want to be reminded of her TV career (nor does she want to be reminded of the fact that she probably belongs on TV rather than film).

Kaiser, why are we being punished with Uncle Terry photos? Was he there?

    • Frida_K says:

      I know, huh?

I’ve not had enough coffee yet to make seeing Uncle Pervy and his side-kick, the orange oompa-loompa hipster, anything less than a grade-ten level trauma. My eyes! My eyes!

*retreats to fill the coffee cup and recover*

    • starrywonder says:

yeah i wish that pic wasn’t always showcased for JT articles.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yeah, thanks for reminding me. Ugh.

    • Belle Epoch says:

I never realized JT Is BFF with Uncle Pervy. THAT DOES IT! Any shred of interest I might have been able to scrape up for Theroux just went down the toilet. His infidelity is bad enough, added to his heavy duty Hollywood wax makeover and try-hard hipster image. He is basically an escort for JA at this point. I’m starting to believe the rumors. Is “beard” the right term for either sex? Will Celebitchy kill this comment because I’m wondering about this?

  2. Sarah says:

Maybe she wanted to let him enjoy some of the attention that he’s getting from his new job without detracting with her presence.

    • Hautie says:

Especially since Theroux is the lead on that HBO show. And HBO sponsors the best Emmy party. I am not surprised he went out. Plus he did know oodles of folks, before he started dating Aniston.

And hasn’t he always worn a big gold ring since the beginning? Though I love how him wearing a big gold ring, is now something of interest. Geez… he can’t catch a break.

    • doofus says:

yes, exactly. or maybe it’s something as simple as she didn’t feel well…she got her period…she was having a bad hair day…she had a zit…

not everything is ZOMG! they’re breaking up! because he went to an event solo and had a good time.

that does look like a pretty gaudy ring, though. who knows…maybe it has some special meaning, like it was his dad’s class ring.

      • TheOriginalKitten says:

Exactly and thank you. It’s so exhausting.

I think the ring is gross but I have an aversion to men wearing rings. I just hate it.

    • Michele says:

      sure.

  3. Dingo says:

I don’t think he went just hang with friends, but because it was the HBO party – the network wanted him to get his picture taken with some HBO-people to promote him and The Leftovers.

  4. Loopy says:

Does Jennifer bring Justin along when she is having cocktails with Courtney and Chelsea???

  5. MrsBPitt says:

NEWSFLASH: Man goes to party without girlfriend….no drama happens…………..SNORE!

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Right? My husband goes to things solo sometimes and so do I – headache, conflict, don’t know that many people, whatever. I hope we both manage to behave normally for the few hours of agonizing separation. Good grief.

So bummed that this Sunday is the final episode of the season. The show really took an interesting turn last week. Answered a lot of questions as to who and what these characters were all about.

So glad I decided to give this show a try because in my opinion it is a really good show that keeps you wondering.

How about Theroux hates Aniston and broke up with her. She is miserable, and will never find another man to marry. I think that is what most people hope for. Lol.

    • Dingo says:

I really like it too. I great to have a show were you can’t always guess the plot. And the actors are all so great in it.

And I just today found out that the daughter is Andie Macdowells daughter!

      • eliza says:

I also think the acting is really good. Both Nora and her brother always leave me kind of teary eyed. When her brother was trying to get the money for his church, I cried during that episode.

    • Adrien says:

The only character that I care about died (Patti). If there is another season, I don’t think I will watch it.

    • mia girl says:

It was a good episode and did help explain many things. And it was so strange that 10 or so episodes in is the first time we actually hear Amy Brenneman speak! It just shows what powerful acting she’s been delivering.
All the actors are turning in great performances and particularly Theroux as the lead.

I’m holding my breath for what appears will happen in the season ending. It’s going to be brutal. Ahhhhhh

    • Beatrice says:

The whole series is depressing, but surprisingly, I found the last episode the most wrenching of all. Seeing all the characters and the town going about their lives before the disappearance of all those people just made me want to cry. Amazing acting and good writing so I will be watching (and getting depressed) next season.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

My aunt (who is an HBO junkie) LOVES the show. When I see her, I’ll take a crack at it. I thought the trailers were HORRIBLE though. Like I was just completely confused about what it was about, and if I hadn’t known what it was about, then I probably would’ve ignored the show all together.

    • Becky1 says:

Yeah, it’s a good show. I like that it doesn’t spell everything out for you. Of course, like all shows some episodes are better than others. The acting ranges from solid to excellent and I find Justin T’s character super hot (he’s a really good looking guy once you strip away the guyliner and uber hipster apparel).

  7. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Um, is this a surprise? (talking about the ‘gaudy gold ring’)

Does ANYONE remember those tacky name rings that they started wearing a few months after ‘coming out’ together? If I remember right, they were wearing their own names on the rings…….

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Hahaha, I forgot. So high school.

    • lisa2 says:

That is the ring he is wearing in the pictures. I saw it on another site. He wears it all the time. Jennifer stopped wearing hers.

Someone speculated it was an engagement ring. NOPE just a ring with his name on it.

I find that so dated. but hey.. whatever.

    • ann says:

May as well say “ME” on the ring. Kind of says it all IMO.

  8. Tippy says:

It sounds as if Justin was the life of the party and he appears to be friends with a lot of big names in the industry.

Attendance at these parties can go a long way toward furthering an actor’s / screenwriter’s career.

Jenn doesn’t shun television work (30 Rock, Cougar Town…) and she probably didn’t want to steal any limelight from Justin.

    • Sullivan says:

Ah, the old “I’m not going to the party with you because I don’t want to steal the limelight and make the whole event about me” excuse. Works every time.

    • Artemis says:

He was well-known behind the scenes (and working steadily) before dating Aniston. I truly believe he social-climbed but he sure as hell wasn’t a poor nobody either.

Yup, with all this exposure, it’s good to capitalize on it and set long-term goals. Maintaining relationships with industry people is key. Even Madonna still has to rub shoulders with industry people.

If Aniston belonged on TV, she would have been there, it’s really simple. She’s in film because people watch her work. None of the other Friends members can do what she does and they are more talented (especially Kudrow!).

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

I LOVED Lisa Kudrow in ‘Scandal’……I think that she is an amazing actor. For me, she’s particularly good, BECAUSE she’s so believable as both quirky Phoebe, and serious, I’m gonna run for president, Josephine. I didn’t even do a double take.

      • mia girl says:

@VC – if you love Kudrow and haven’t already watched, you need to watch The Comeback , the HBO show she had a while back. She was great as Valerie Cherish. And after many years since ending, the program is making a return soon. So happy.

      • doofus says:

“He was well-known behind the scenes (and working steadily) before dating Aniston. I truly believe he social-climbed but he sure as hell wasn’t a poor nobody either.”

yeah, I know a lot of people dislike him because of the Aniston association and they say things like “he was a NOBODY before he hooked up with her”.

just because YOU never heard of him doesn’t mean he was a “nobody”. I knew who he was, and so did a LOT of people. sure, she raised his profile, no denying that, but it’s not like he was some out-of-work retail clerk before they hooked up.

I just wish he’d end his friendship with ChesterTheMolester Richardson.

  9. Ag says:

it’s a hipster decoder ring. comes in boxes of hemp cereal.

  10. tracking says:

Or maybe she had an early call the next morning for an all-day junket for her new movie releasing this week.

  11. Teresa_Maria says:

Justin has short legs and for some reason wears skinny jeans (sort of) to make them look even shorter. Jennifer, help him, ASAP!

  12. Hannah says:

My fiancé wears an engagement ring, his choice, and I won’t be joining him at a party on Saturday, my choice.

    It’s all very normal!

  13. melain says:

Oh, geez….he does not have enough rat pack cool to pull off that ring. What a cheeseball.

  14. Michele says:

So funny sorry Jen Hens, it’s about Klennex, Bongs and Ice cream time for Manniston. She’s about to be dumped again.
