Kaley Cuoco has developed a strategy to avoid getting pap’d: O RLY?

people nerds

The cast of The Big Bang Theory bores me to tears, but still, it was so dead yesterday that I actually clicked on this People cover story to see if there were any interesting quotes or details about the money. Kaley Cuoco, Jim Parsons & Johnny Galecki are making $30 million a year now that they’ve renegotiated their contracts together. The rest of the cast is making good money as well (syndication, bitches!). Unfortunately, this People article doesn’t talk about Jim Parson making it rain while Kaley Cuoco writhes on a bed. Too bad! Still, I enjoyed the quotes from Kaley.

They’re on the biggest show on TV, but the stars of The Big Bang Theory say neither fame – nor their new, huge paychecks – have changed them.

“Everybody’s got their feet on the ground, so it doesn’t feel that much different than day one,” star Simon Helberg, 33, tells PEOPLE in its new issue, on newsstands Friday.

What began as a series about four lovable brainiacs and the women who love them has blown up into the most popular sitcom on television today, but the show’s stars, along with Helberg – Johnny Galecki, 39; Jim Parsons, 41; Kaley Cuoco, 28; Kunal Nayyar, 33; Mayim Bialik, 38; and Melissa Rauch, 34 – say they aim to stay as normal as possible.

“You learn who to talk to, where to go and how to act,” says Cuoco, adding that she has developed a simple strategy of her own: “If you don’t want to be photographed, don’t go to The Ivy, and wear undergarments when you go out!”

By and large, the stars say they much prefer takeout food and each other’s company, anyway.

“A lot of us hang out. It’s just a close knit group,” says Rauch, who frequently spends time with Parsons and his partner, Todd Spiewak, and Helberg and his wife, Jocelyn Towne. “Kaley is the best at throwing parties. Mayim’s the deep thinker, and Kunal is a big giggler. We all get along, and it’s a nice family feel.”

[From People]

I’ll buy that they all get along, except maybe for some residual awkwardness between Kaley and Johnny, because they used to date. But who is Kaley trying to fool? “If you don’t want to be photographed, don’t go to The Ivy…” Coming from the same woman who suddenly started getting pap’d several times a week after a stunt-queen relationship with Henry Cavill? A relationship that involved SO MANY pap strolls for what was basically a month-long thing? I mean, I guess I can’t blame her. She became a household name because of that stunt.

Also – Kaley now drives a $250,000 silver SLS AMG GT Mercedes-Benz. Just FYI. You can see the pics here.

Now, to be fair, she merely explained how not to get papped. We’ll just assume that she finished the rest if the sentence in her head as, “…so you’ll see me at the Ivy or anywhere else there’s a flashbulb.”

  2. Abbott says:

I just laughed so hard I cried all the liquids out of my body.

  3. Loopy says:

She looks so awkward on the cover photo.

  4. A says:

Hey, at least she’s basically admitting she gets papped because she wants to, instead of the usual THINK OF THE CHILDREN schtick.

  5. Sarah says:

Maybe this was just really naive of me but I had no idea that most of the cast members were in their mid-to-late 30s! I think it’s probably because I’ve only ever seen a few episode of the show and I always assumed they were playing teenagers, so were probably in their early 20s. They all look good! Especially Jim Parsons. 41! Really??

  6. Sabrine says:

Fame has changed them because it made them a lot more self-entitled=greedy.

I’ve read if they wear the same clothes out in public on several outings they won’t get papped because the photos can’t be sold. It will just look like the same photos.

  7. boredhousewife says:

I think Kaley is a fameho and can’t really act. But the show is quite hilarious and I like it. Jim Parsons is the best one on the show. Rest of them are OK.

    • Hautie says:

I enjoy the show too. But it is Raj that normally cracks me up. And the girls, Bernadette and Amy.

The smartest thing the producers did… was bringing girls into the cast, for Sheldon and Howard.

And then the slowly adding in Stuart last season. Whom I am looking forward to seeing if he is still babysitting Howard’s, Mother, this year…

  8. Lucy2 says:

Another way to not get papped is to not call them to arrange a photo op.
That is an extremely awkward cover photo.

  9. Eleonor says:

Jim Parson needs to start his own skincare line. Period.

  10. Sea Dragon says:

It’s she still being papped constantly? Because if its seldom to never it sounds like she’s just imparting what she’s learned not to do based on being a fame* for a short while.

Her pap shots are A LOT more infrequent recently, but I think that has a lot to do with her moving. She used to live in Sherman Oaks, and was a neighborhood gal (shopped in the area, etc.), so it was easy to find her. The shots of Henry were in Sherman Oaks.

Now she lives in Tarzana into Khloe Kardashian’s house, and I think it is more out of the way and guarded.

$30 mill a year??? Now I understand why Ryan Sweeting decided that playing professional tennis was too much work.

  12. feebee says:

It is called ‘being Kaley Cuoco’?

  13. Jaderu says:

    I don’t wear underwear and I never get pap’d.
    Huh…I don’t understand.

  14. FingerBinger says:

How this show is still on the air is beyond me. It’s so bad and not funny at all.

    • Ash says:

I loved it when it first came on, but its quality has definitely gone down through the seasons.

    • BengalCat2000 says:

I have so much hate for that crap fest of a show. It’s frustrating that it keeps getting so many awards. I just got a trial subscription of PEOPLE magazine & if that’s the new issue, it will be used as kitty litter liner.

  15. Algernon says:

She gets pap’ed in the Valley a lot. Paparazzi do not hang out in the Valley. Never forget.

  16. Penelope says:

It would be almost impossible to show Kaley in a less flattering light than that cover. Good grief, she’s a pretty woman–who hates her at People magazine?!

  17. Pepinsky says:

I love that show, very VERY much. I’m still watching all the seasons over and over again and still laughting my a** off every time. I find those overstereotyped caracters sooo funny!!

Seriously, is there something wrong with me?! You guys are making me doubt my sanity (my chance at good taste was already dead so that part I can deal with)

    • Anony says:

I work a stressful, professional, high-pressure job. I like to come home and watch shows that are upbeat and don’t require me to think. The characters are over-the-top but enjoyable. The show is popular for a reason. Not sure why so many people on this site have a passionate hatred for it. It’s easy to not watch a show you find boring.

    • Hazel says:

I love the show! These are my people! I recognize the types from high school! Which means, yikes!, I’m one of them!

  18. Brasileira says:

    +1

  19. Loren says:

I love this show because it’s my life! I’m a cute, blonde nanny and my hubby has 2 masters (chem & physics) also phd in physics…..and sucks at driving..
We laugh so hard… Because it’s us.
