I hope so! Its been a long time coming.

  2. Black is beautiful says:

Finally a Burton film without Depp!

    • Jaderu says:

      You mean without Depp?
Or maybe you meant Dep hair gel?
Christoph’s hair did look a little “squeaky”.

Edit- Just saw the edit edited. You out-edited me.

  3. Jaderu says:

    Team Amy!
    Team Tater!
Team guy that comes out and explains how the votes are tabulated and how only two people get to see the votes *takes deep breath* and then makes an unfunny joke and then the camera guy cuts to a shot of George Clooney *breath* laughing and then music starts playing!!!

  4. Abbott says:

My money is on Julianne Moore this year. She’s long(er) overdue. Amy’s time will come. Plus, Moore and Adams will have to beat out “I AM AN AMERICAN CITIZEN” first.

    • Nur says:

LOL! She must be fuming already due to heavy competition!
I really hope it will be Moore. Shes so overdue and usually so great, I want her finally recognised.

    • Black is beautiful says:

Wait, I thought it was going to be Jen Aniston? Oh, that was just her PR !

    • Ctkat1 says:

I think this will be a showdown between the two wildly talented redheads- Moore and Adams are both so overdue. I’d be happy with either, especially if it means that Reese W. doesn’t win.

    • T.C. says:

Although Amy has always been consistent she gets overly nominated for everything, so when it comes time to vote for the winner her role doesn’t stand out significantly among her nominated peers for a win. So the multiple nominations actually don’t benefit her in the long run.

With American Hustle showing her sexy side in tight revealing clothes and her unshared female lead role in ‘Big Eyes’, I think the boys of the academy will favor her over Moore who is truly overdue.

    • blue marie says:

Hey now, don’t you know who she is?

    • Jem says:

ANYBODY but Reese. Miss Piggy should get an Oscar before Reese. I cannot STAND that woman anymore.

      • Nedsdag says:

TBTH, Reese shouldn’t have won the Oscar that year. Felicity Huffman should’ve won for Transamerica.

    • Bridget says:

I think it depends on how hard they’re willing to campaign. You KNOW Reese will be in it to win it, and supposedly Moore is going to have another awesome role to submit next year.

    • Kimmy says:

I’m torn….I adore Amy and Julianne. They both totally deserve to win. Until I see both movies, I’ll just say I will be happy with either, as long as Reese loses. I’m already dying to see her “humble loser”, smug face.

  5. Diana B says:

Hopefully. Also, Christoph seems terriffic in it aswell.

  6. DaSariH says:

I like Amy Adams but this trailer doesn’t do it for me. It’s a weak year for Best Actress category so who knows. I’m still rooting for Julianne Moore.

    • RedWeatherTiger says:

I agree. I couldn’t even make it through the trailer, so I can’t imagine plunking down $10 for a ticket. But I do love Amy. And Julianne. Not so much with Laura Jean Poon these days, though…

    • lisa2 says:

Yeah the movie looks MEH to me.. I’m sure with the actors involved it will be good, but I can say I’m not that interested in seeing it in a theater.

  7. Chinoiserie says:

She will probably get nominated again but not win.

  8. M.A.F. says:

This looks like a good film. Finally a Burton film w/o the usual suspects and CGI.

    • Katenotkatie says:

YES. My favorite Burton film is Big Fish, which does have CGI but the story is the heart of it. I’m glad to see that he’s simplifying and not directing the bloated/guaranteed trainwreck sequel to Alice in Wonderland.

      • mia girl says:

Big Fish is my favorite Burton film as well There is so much I love about that movie.
Button restrains himself and so instead of overtaking the story with his usual effects, (makeup, quirk, cgi, oddities, etc.) in Big Fish he uses these things to elevate the story.

Plus Ewan McGregor was so charming.

      • GlimmerBunny says:

        LOVE LOVE LOVE BIG FISH

      • Dany says:

OMG yes! Big Fish was amazing and Ewan is my longtime crush 😀

  9. Birdix says:

Bundling up for a picnic in dense fog, I’m laughing at San Francisco with palm trees by the bridge, people frolicking in bathing suits, etc 🙂

  10. Lilacflowers says:

Does the Academy have something against redheads? Julianne Moore, Amy Adams, Jessica Chastein. Multiple nominations each. Zero wins.

    • manta says:

And yet the great Katharine Hepburn, one of the most famous redheads in the history of Hollywood is still the only one with 4 statues for best actress.
(Granted, it was not exactly yesterday).

  11. MickeyM says:

    Amy Adams is phenomenal.

  12. lucy2 says:

I haven’t seen either movie, but I’m rooting for both Amy and Julianne. Both are so fantastically talented, and both are long overdue for a win.

  13. PrairieLilly says:

    Ohhh that movie looks good!!!

  14. JustChristy says:

Ooh Danny Huston and Krysten Ritter. I know what I’m doing this winter.

  15. Duri says:

Yea no she ain’t happening this year, it’s between Julianne or Reese.

She will get a nomination cz well she is Amy + Harvey

    • T.C. says:

She will win with Harvey’s aid but since everyone likes her they will say it based solely on talent not Harvey. Whereas every other actress (except for Meryl and male actors) who Harvey helps win is apparently talentless. LOL.

  16. luana says:

Not having seen the movies involved and knowing that properly done trailer is not enough, I think American citizen won’t win and it will be a race between Amy and Julianne. I prefer Julianne as an actress. I’d love that another long overdue extremely talented actress will get a nom next year for one of the most risky courageous and emotionally compelling performances this year: Robin Wright for The Congress. But we know she never campaigns and unfortunately that’s not good for her, she even turned down Vanity Fair covers and commercial industry movies. But I hope she gets a nom and in the future a role that finally gives her that well deserved Oscar.

  17. Kate says:

I love Amy and Julieanne and would be happy for either. My gut says it should be Julieanne bc she’s almost 54 and given how awful Hollywood is this may be her last shot. Adams just turned 40 but plays really young and is at the height of her career.

Plus Amy has “Story of your life” ( which should be a massive film given what Paranount paid for it) and Batman vs. Superman ( where she will most likely perform the famous “Death of Superman” scene as the closer of the movie. I would put money on it.). Amy doesn’t need an Oscar. She will get one and I’ll be happy when she does.

  18. OTHER RENEE says:

Being overdue doesn’t always guarantee an eventual win… Glenn Close… ahem…

  19. And then there were none says:

I think this trailer looks very average. What is going on with Waltz’s attempted accent?? I think the only nomination it will get is a nod for Amy. She looks the best thing in it and probably deserves to be nominated (as opposed to some of her previous nominations *cough* American Hustle *cough*). She won’t win though. This is Julianne’s year.

  20. LAK says:

If no better performances/oscar campaigns come along….

  21. TC says:

I’ll be pulling for Julianne Moore this year. Love Amy Adams, but Julianne’s been around much longer and has long been denied an Oscar for some incredibly Oscar-worthy performances (Boogie Nights, The End of the Affair, Far From Heaven, The Hours, A Single Man). Plus, she has TWO strong performances this year with Still Alice and Maps to the Stars.

And to think she started out in daytime television playing twins Frannie and Sabrina on the soap As the World Turns back in the 80s. Loved her then and love her now. She’s come a long way and she’s earned every acting nomination and award she’s won since then. She’s pure talent. Team Julianne!

  22. Remarkable! Its in faqct awesome paragraph, I have
ggot much clear idea on the topic of from this post.

  23. norah says:

i think oscar will be jessica chastain amy adams reese and julianne and 5th actress ( toss up ) though i really want julianne moore to win though i like amy adams too.

  24. tracking says:

This movie is pretty quirky–does anyone think it will do well? (serious question, not snark) Julianne Moore’s Map to the Stars role next year is supposed to be really sensational. This year is ‘meh’ for best actress.

  25. lisa2 says:

There are several other films that have not been shown yet. I think all the early win talk for Julianne or Amy is premature. Watch there is going to be a dark horse coming up..

I would actually like to see some new names in the mix.

  26. Anna says:

Seems like everyone forgot about Rosamung Pike.I wouldn’t be suprised if she would win this year.
