Amal Alamuddin & George Clooney vow to never be apart longer than 2 weeks

FFN_Alamuddin_Amal_FFUK_061314_51449935

These are still my favorite photos of Amal Alamuddin! I wish she would wear this ensemble for her wedding. At the very least, I hope it becomes part of her trousseau!

Anyway, we’re still being inundated with inane stories about George Clooney and Amal just ahead of their (alleged) Venice wedding this weekend. I find it suspicious that George and Amal haven’t been getting pap’d regularly in Venice this week. I have a theory that Venice is the decoy locale and they’re really getting married in Como. But we’ll see. As for Amal’s wedding style… we keep hearing Oscar de la Renta. Over and over, everyone has said it’s de la Renta. But Amal has made several stops into the House of McQueen, and now The Daily Mail/Us Weekly says that Sarah Burton is definitely doing Amal’s wedding gown. Just like Duchess Kate!

She certainly isn’t thinking small for her reported Saturday nuptials to George Clooney in Venice, Italy. On Wednesday UsWeekly reported 36-year-old lawyer Amal Alamuddin will wed the 53-year-old actor in a gown by designer Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. She is the same woman who created Kate Middleton’s impressive lace wedding dress when she married Prince William in 2011.

The brunette may also wear a Monique Lhuillier gown to her after party on Sunday, added a source. This comes on the heels of the news that Clooney will wear Armani. On Thursday Giorgio Armani announced at his Emporio Armani show during Milan Fashion Week that he’s dressing the ER star.

‘George has chosen and been fitted for an Armani suit for his wedding,’ the Italian fashion designer said according to People, which got it’s information from Italian TV reporters at the show. A designer for Armani was spotted visiting the Oceans’ Eleven actor at his home on Italy’s Lake Como earlier this month. And on Monday the star’s assistant was seen at Armani headquarters in Milan.

[From The Daily Mail]

Clooney in Armani is a no-brainer. He pretty much wears Armani suits exclusively and Mr. Armani adores him. But if Amal is going with Sarah Burton instead of Oscar de la Renta… that’s interesting. But I don’t really care for what Burton has done to the design house, so maybe the dress is super-boring.

Meanwhile, Life & Style has this gem about the happy couple:

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin aren’t giving up their jet-setting lifestyles — and unlike most newlyweds, the duo will often be apart, even after tying the knot!

“When the honeymoon’s over, they’ll be a truly international couple,” an insider tells the new issue of Life & Style, explaining that Amal loves her work as a humanitarian lawyer, and George wants to get more involved in charity work in Africa and the Middle East.

But the happy couple have already come up with a solution. They have vowed never to be apart for more than two weeks and when separated will “be on the phone with each other constantly,” the insider tells Life & Style.

[From Life & Style]

I’ll believe it when I see it. Although George has already surprised me in the past five months or so – he and Amal have been traveling and vacationing together all this time. So far, they really haven’t been apart that much. But we’ll see what happens when George needs to make a movie or when Amal gets a big case or something.

Have they sold the wedding photos yet or are they going to televise it on PPV?

  2. lisa2 says:

I saw pics of her arriving in Milan (IIRC).. carrying some big box and garment bag.

relationships are difficult. life happens and right now George and Amal are not really setting up house. they seem to have been on a Summer vacation. Day to day life is not that interesting.

Curious to see how it all works out.

    • AG-UK says:

Yep exactly. I don’t care how famous you are day to day won’t be that interesting but I guess they can chat on the phone, face time when she’s getting her hair done. Good luck to them. Makes me laugh the first photo with her mouth like that all I can think of is RuPaul singing -werk..probably before everyone’s time.

      • Belle Epoch says:

Strange article – it’s setting up the Separate Lives Scenario in advance, so they can be imitation married. Don’t ask why they are never together. They have a Two Week rule, remember?

I’ve heard plenty of couples vow never to be apart for even one night, but two weeks is a new one. “I promise to go to your red carpet events and make sure the paps see us together every two weeks, um-kay?”

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

        @Belle Epoch
        I don’t understand your reference–‘Separate Lives Scenario’?

      • Pandy says:

@Belle Epoch that’s what I thought as well. Fake wedding and probable baby within a year. Not sure what’s in it for Amal though.

      • Belle Epoch says:

Virgilia I just feel like this is a pre-emptive PR strike. They aren’t even married yet, and they are already explaining that they will be apart much of the time. But they cleverly flipped it around from “don’t expect to see us together because this marriage is weird” to “we can’t live without seeing each other every two weeks.” I think Amal is an odd duck – the human rights lawyer who doesn’t actually care about human rights, the barrister who seems to have an awful lot of free time, the Druze who is not Muslim but sortof is, the woman who is never seen with girlfriends, a grown woman who has no apparent romantic past, and of course, a grown woman with toddler taste in clothing. I have no idea what is going on with George, except marriage is certainly out of character for him.

      • Greyson says:

Isn’t this place called Celebitchy? Snark regarding celebrities is allowed.

IMHO, she looks too thin. I have a naturally thin build and there’s a difference between that and being underweight.

  3. Bea says:

    How very Brangelina of them.

Countdown to the live streaming video of when they adopt.

  4. PunkyMomma says:

    Guilty click, here. 😳

  5. Chrissy says:

All this press has gotten so ridiculous. Totally out of character as has
been noted. It makes me wonder what George’s endgame is.
Totally off topic, she has the worst, most juvenile dress-sense. Kind
    of embarrassed for her.

  6. Santolina says:

Now, he’s making vows in advance of the wedding. To do what — prove that he wants to cohabit with a woman? Clearly, love has nothing to do with this media circus.

  7. MrsBPitt says:

I still am in denial about this wedding! George was always so adamant that he would never marry! That he would make a lousy husband! And, to have it happen all so fast, is curious….I suppose, he could have met Amal and fallen head over heels, but George never struck me as that type…Well, I guess, no one ever thought Warren Beatty would get married either!

    • Sabrine says:

I don’t think they have any plans whatsoever to add children to their very busy lives. It would not work out. It’s not going to be that bad them not being together all the time. Their relationship won’t get boring and tedious. When they do connect, they’ll be excited to see each other….sounds like a better deal than the monotony of daily life.

  8. Rhiley says:

I somehow don’t care about this one. Actually, most weddings I don’t care about. Babies are always a sweet addition to a family, and I bet if they do have a child, that child will be beautiful. But I don’t care about their wedding except that I bet she will look really pretty her dress and we all know the Cloons can pull of a suit/tux. So they will look gorgeous. Other than that, it is kind of weird, and I wonder if at this point in his life, Clooney isn’t really boring to be around. I picture him sitting in his Italian Villa watching American programming and drinking port.

  9. starbright says:

Amal will be the one who will break this “2 week” rule. She doesn’t really know who George is, a man-boy with serious issues.

As I wrote before, her astrology chart is that of someone who is very independent. His chart says, restless, controlling, dependent. They won’t divorce but likely will live apart within 5 years. By then no one will care about him. George is fading into the background.

    • lisa2 says:

I don’t think anyone knows anything really about this woman. nothing except that she was on the team of some high profile cases. No one knows her personality or history. There have been no interviews from her close friends or even associates talking about her. No mention of her past relationships. Just media reports based in nothing.

So when people make pronouncements of her being this or that based on very little information I find that over the top. She is still a mystery in many aspects; which at this point is strange to me.

      • Jayna says:

Attorneys don’t generally give interviews to talk about their co-worker’s private life or personality. Her boyfriends were probably average men who work in the legal field or business sector but are nobodies in the celeb world and aren’t fame-hos who sell a story or run to the press to discuss dating her, a different world where people don’t actually care about giving an interview to a People magazine type publication because they know someone who is marrying someone who is famous.

Stacy Keibler was a D-lister but still in the celeb world. I know zero about any man she dated before Clooney nor did I ever read anything about that when she was covered in the rag mags or press while dating Clooney.

      • noway says:

I may agree with you somewhat on the lawyer thing, except I have found lawyers to be some of the most gossipy people I know. May not be into People mag, but certainly like to to talk a lot. Just curious with all the people she knows that it doesn’t seem like many people who know her would even say that much about her personally. I too find it odd. Especially since she is marrying the man that celebrated not getting married, you would think that the “media” could find someone, and very little being said on the record or off.

No as far as Stacy and the other Clooney girlfriends, I think you just weren’t interested. Geoff Stults, Chris Evans, the wrestler guy all said something about Stacy. Elisabetta had that soccer player. Even the Las Vegas concierge girl had friends and boyfriends talking about her.

This could be part of the reason some think it is managed, because it looks a bit controlled with the info out there.

      • Sassy says:

This marriage and courtship publicity, which I feel is overkill, could be managed in order to prevent the press from digging too deeply. Time will tell.

  10. kibbles says:

Most weddings are so overblown. It’s a day to celebrate with your friends and family. That’s all! The world does not need to have a wedding countdown for Alamulooney. From the comments I see on websites, fewer people care about this wedding than Alamulooney believe. Everyone is just tired of their antics and pap walks.

  11. Santolina says:

The classy bride-to-be is wearing jeans with torn knees, again…

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/amal-alamuddin-flashes-engagement-ring-4319538

    • Lorelei says:

And when flying an international flight that is a problem because….?
I might understand the judgement if she was wearing them at the actual wedding but not for a casual trip on her own.

      • break says:

assuming that coat isn’t made of an animal, it’s a great travel outfit. i think she looks great.

      • Chris2 says:

        Agreed, Lorelei
I think she looks terrific in her casj outfits, especially the really ripped Levis and ultra-hip buckle/bovver boots recently.
Even this much maligned Bananarama look, main pic, is fine by me bacause she always understands the vibe of her outfit. Many would have added sexy cwap like heels, crucifixes, ankle and waist chains, tattoos and other otiose accessories, but she ‘gets’ restraint and wears it well.
(Yes, I’m def a fan of her style!)

    • Jayna says:

I might not always like her style, but I do admire the fact that she has KEPT her quirky style and not changed it because of who she’s marrying and the judgment on her style, which I have no doubt she ‘s read or heard about. I do give kudos to her for that, staying true to her quirkiness.

I don’t see anything wrong with this outfit to take a flight. Her jeans aren’t ripped all over anyway. I like the colors together.

    • Santolina says:

I’m not a fan of the grunge look on her. To some, it’s quirkiness, and to me it just looks like she ‘s trying too hard to look like a college student.

  12. bopit says:

Ah yes, I remember when Avril Lavigne and Chad promised not to be apart for longer than two weeks as well….

  13. HoustonGrl says:

My fiance and I have had to do the long distance thing for a few months. We try to see each other almost every weekend, but a few times we’ve had to be apart more than 2 weeks. For some reason, the two week mark becomes a relationship stressor. We start freaking about about missed phone calls, texts etc…I think Amal and George are nauseating, but I get the two week thing.

    • Ange says:

My husband and I are apart a lot, the latest time was for three months. It’s funny, 2-3 week or a month separations were a lot harder than the long ones for some reason.

  14. Jaderu says:

What a coincidence! I made the same vow with my lover, Moose Tracks Ice Cream!
Never more than 2 weeks apart!

  15. Christin says:

Perhaps she will take a page from Kim K (wedding number 2) and wear multiple wedding dresses. Maybe George will have a wall of flowers in the background, too.

    • lisa2 says:

Maybe she has a dress for the rehearsal dinner. Stella M.

I would like to see pics.. I like wedding pics. But after that … moving on.

  16. anonymous says:

I like George Clooney, seems to be a good man with a good heart, very accepting and understanding of humans from all walks of life. Regardless of who you are, marriage is a very serious matter and you need to have somethings in common, like customs and culture, get to know that person for awhile, strange match-up.

  17. Misstee says:

Who calls the paps to see you walking through an airport with you’re wedding dress box??

I just cant with this woman’s gargantuan level of smug whilst being totally famewhory.

  18. Steph says:

This old fossil and his bride are certainly milking this wedding for as much publicity as they can get.

  19. Paloma says:

I think George has caught a glimpse of his mortality; hence, this complete change.

  20. HappyMom says:

    She’s got gorgeous hair.

  21. Charlotte says:

Remember George the fameho who would drive around with his pig in his car and pose for pap pics and joke around with the papz? Then, when Princess Di died, he was the first to blame the papz and they shunned him.

George has always been a fameho.

    • Belle Epoch says:

That’s the problem! His pig died! He really just needs a new pig.

      • Charlotte says:

Yeah, I was trying hard not to equate Amal with being his new prize pet pig. No offense to either the lovely Amal, nor to the beautiful porcine species is intended.

  22. cody says:

Two weeks is nothing for a couple. I have family in the military and they go for 6 months to 18 month deployments. Now that is challenging for a couple. It almost sounds like they have to give an excuse of 2 weeks to see each other. Maybe she needs to keep an eye on him. I read that Hugh Jackman and his wife have the same 2 week rule.

    • Ange says:

Yeah it can be done, it’s not ideal though. These guys can probably arrange their lives to be that way whereas military families don’t really have the choice. I’d be interested to see if the two week rule lasts with these two once the marriage is sinking in that’s for sure.

  23. Jen2 says:

Yes, we know she is a “high powered barrister with a major case load” and can work from anywhere, but she is going to just sit around while he works for months on a movie or will she come visit every two weeks? It is different when they are both actors with long stretches of down time, but this just seems to be something to make people go “Wow”. Amalooney is trying a bit too hard. Just have a nice wedding and move on. These daily bulletins are so Kanye of George and that is just a damn shame.

    • Candy Love says:

I agree Amalooney is trying way too hard and I’m still unclear on the reason why.

George and Co.have told us when, where, what hotel, the designers, the officiant, they made public wedding invitation and the guess list. I would be surprised if the whole this was televised and I’ve on seen this much attention seeking since Kim K last two marriages

  24. Reece says:

Ok NOW I want to see the dress! If Sarah Burton is designing it then I definitely want to see what she comes up with for someone with, not my personal taste but at least…different…interesting, style vs. Duchess “JCrew” Kate.

  25. Loralei says:

He is just marrying her because he wants to run for office and she would make a good politician’s wife. His past girlfriends woud not be appropriate for the role. There’s just something about her I don’t like. Also, her waist looks like an actual skeleton.

  26. maddelina says:

I like her style! It’s a bit trendy and quirky at the same time. She looks anorexic to me though.

  27. smcollins says:

Call me sentimental, but I don’t get all of the cynicism surrounding this relationship. He found someone who truly makes him happy and who he wants to fully commit himself to. I know we’re talking about Mr. Playboy Bachelor himself, but I think it’s great. I’m happy for them. 🙂

    • davina says:

the cynicism comes from the fact that george has a history of selling his relationships to the public. this relationship is no different except there’s a wedding to sell.

if george would have gotten married quietly with no publicity, than people wouldn’t be so doubtful.

  28. Loralei says:

It’s suspicious that he’s that he’s making such a public display of everything marriage related. It’s overdone.

  29. lowercaselois says:

I am sorry but she needs to eat, she is too boney. I wouldn’t want to go out to dinner with her, she probably only eats lettuce. George will definitely save in grocery bills.

  30. Katebush says:

I’ve got a soft spot for George and I am a bit obsessed with weddings at the moment as I’m getting married in four months so I don’t have any snark for this couple. I can’t wait to see her dress.

  31. Dita says:

    Love her sunglasses

  32. lisa2 says:

I see body shamming comments. Some women are thin. That is their natural way. Every woman on the planet is different. Looks, attitude, feelings, dreams, desires.

I don’t understand why people assume because a woman is thin she is anorexic. If I looked at 5 women on this site in real life none of you would be the same shape or size. It is sad that this comes from other women. I guess being skinny is the new crime.

and the thing that is crazy is some people act as if being skinny is something these women do to others. Like their body size affect someone else.

    • Amy says:

Thank you!! I have the same build as Amal. I do have more curves than her but I have a flat butt and not very busty (not flat chested but I don’t have a rack to brag about). I have been thin all my life, it runs in the genes on both sides of my family. As a kid I was a gawky thing with skinny little legs running around. Telling me to eat a hamburger is rude. I’m not anorexic and I don’t see why it’s ok to joke about eating disorders with thin people. When you actually compare a normal thin person to a person with an extreme eating disorder, you can usually tell the difference. Even now friends find it appropriate to circle my waist with their hands or my wrist to determine… I don’t know, how bony I am? Amal is naturally thin and shouldn’t have to apologize for it. And neither should I.

  33. gorgies says:

Kim K must be seething with jealousy . She tried to hire and contact Sarah Burton to design her wedding gown but Burton said she didn’t want to be associated with a D list reality tv star. Amal’s dress will no doubt be beautiful. I am sure many other famous fashion houses would want to make a gown for her too.
Atleast Clooneys fiancée isn’t a porn star.

  34. Loralei says:

How do you know that Amal is naturally thin?
