Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo were on the elevator in the building where they have a condo in New York when an older resident collapsed with heart trouble. He asked them to get his medication from his apartment and Nick quickly retreived it and gave it to the scared man while Vanessa called for an ambulance.

Singer Nick Lachey and live-in galpal Vanessa Minnillo moved fast when an old fella exited the elevator at their New York condo, clutched his chest - and collapsed at their feet! Barely able to speak, the man whispered he’d left his heart medication in his condo - so Nick grabbed his keys and took off as Vanessa dialed 911. Nick was back in a flash, fed the guy a pill and stayed until paramedics arrived. The man, a chronic angina sufferer, was hospitalized overnight and released.

The article says that the man actually campaigned to have Nick and Vanessa barred from the condo, but after they saved his life he of course changed his feelings about them and now calls them heroes.

People were speculating that Lahey and Minnillo’s relationship might be in trouble after they were photographed looking annoyed. Nick went off on a guy who yanked his arm and caused Vanessa to fall down at a Kentucky Derby party, and the two seemed kind of bored with each other during a beach stroll while in the Bahamas last weekend. They were later photographed all over each other in the pool. It was probably a strategic move on their part, but it worked and now all seems to be fine with their public image.
