Prince Harry plays rugby with kids & pays his respects to Alan Henning’s shrine

Sometimes when I see photos of Prince Harry in profile or when he’s smiling at children, I really see his mother in him. He really gives me the strongest Diana vibes in profile, honestly. Anyway, these are photos of Harry yesterday in Manchester, doing an event for rugby or kids’ sports or something. It basically a combination of two of Harry’s best kinds of photo-ops: doing something sporty and doing something with kids. Harry coached some boys and girls during a game of rugby.

Can Prince Harry please play rugby with our kids next?! The 30-year-old royal headed to Salford, Greater Manchester, Monday afternoon where he joined a teacher training session at Eccles Rugby Club. After being greeted by local dignitaries and former England rugby captain Bill Beaumont, the proud uncle to Prince George headed to the field to play some games.

Wearing black jogging pants and a casual England rugby T-shirt, Prince Harry was well prepared to spend a couple of hours passing and catching the ball, as well as shouting encouragement to young kids playing. The lucky players, who were all less than 13-years-old, came from St. Mary’s High School and were thrilled to have such a special guest.

Eleanor Dainty, who was able to compete during the friendly matches, shared her experience with the royal family member. “He was giving us lots of tips like, ‘don’t get involved in a situation where you are surrounded by lots of other players,’ and ‘just try to pass the ball,'” she shared with reporters. “It was quite exciting.”

Another youngster named Matthew Connor couldn’t believe royalty paid a visit to his field. “He’s like, dead high up,” he explained. “So for him to come down here, it’s an inspiration.”

“You could see the kids were excited by the fact that he was here to enthuse them to want to be involved in the sport and be able to run alongside him or have him in their side,” England’s Sarah Hunter shared after accompanying Harry throughout his visit. “He’s had a significant effect on them. To have someone as significant as Prince Harry to promote the game nationwide is fantastic.”

The All Schools Program is a project launched ahead of next year’s Rugby World Cup, which will be hosted by England. The organization aims to support middle and high school students over three years with sporting goods, coaching, student volunteer training and links to local clubs. It’s a cause we would totally expect to see Prince Harry involved in. After all, rugby is one of his favorite sports.

“He’s like dead high up” is my new favorite thing in the world! That little kid was so impressed that someone major in the royal line of succession came to see them! That kid would not be impressed by, like, Zara or Prince Edward. Anyway, sweet photos. Harry is so natural with kids and he’s a wonderful athlete.

And in case you think Harry’s trip was just about cute photo-ops with children, he also got serious and somber later in the day when he paid his respects at the “makeshift shrine” for the late aid worker Alan Henning. Henning was beheaded by ISIS (or ISIL, whichever you prefer) a few weeks ago and a makeshift shrine has popped up at Eccles Cross in Greater Manchester. Harry was going in between the rugby event and a fire station photo-op when he stopped by the shrine to lay flowers and, I’m assuming, say a short prayer.

Prince Harry is built out of cuteness and puppy parts, non?

  2. What? says:

    Aww he’s adorable.
I’m nosy and wonder what’s going on in his love life. He’s not really back with that Cressida is he?

It’s hard to believe there was ever a time when I thought William was the better looking of the two.

      Ditto.

    • Dany says:

William has Diana´s face. The same long nose, lips and teeth. Both looked super pretty when they were around 20, but then they lost it more and more. Diana had the luck that she had charisma super powers. So she was still shining. William doesn´t have this charisma to outshine his features and baldness.
Harry comes after Philip and Charles + has the charisma of his mother. So he is the winner lookswise, even with his red face and beginnng baldness.

And women have the advantage of no make pattern baldness, makeup, and nice clothes.

I think William is a mix of Diana and Anne. His facial expressions are all Diana but he also has the horsey Windsor look that ages poorly.

Henry is a mix of Philip/Charles with a strong dash of Spencer but the sparkle he brings is 100% Diana (which is supposed to be like Diana’s paternal grandmother Cynthia).

One of *the* funniest memes on Tumblr was 4 pics of the boys: 2 as teens (top) and two recent pics (bottom). The caption read (and I’m paraphrasing here), “Clearly we bet too early on the wrong horse.”

I thought that captured it well! 😃

Who is running Harry’s PR game? They are doing a much better job than whoever is in charge of the Cambridges. If it is the same folks, this has to be the result of true personalities shining through.

Same people that are doing the Cambridge’s — Harry has what the press teams calls ‘fairy dust’. He brings a touch of magic to everything he does…and it’s not manufactured. Priceless.
