Jennifer Lopez inks a Vegas residency deal for $350,000 per show: amazing?

First, let’s have a moment for Jennifer Lopez’s street style. These are photos of J.Lo outside of a studio in LA yesterday. Jennifer refuses to just do sweats and flip-flops. Nope. She’s trying to make those pants happen (and I’m close to buying it), she’s giving us some hipster throwback with the sweatshirt, and she’s basically one of the few women who can still make those ankle booties happen. Top it all off with a fringed Chanel bag and I’m sure it costs J.Lo about $6000 to look like this in her “down time.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has always been pretty good at branding herself at different levels and getting many different revenue streams going. I’m sure her Kohl’s deal is crazy-lucrative, her perfumes sell like crazy (I’m still wearing Glow and I love it) and Jennifer’s tours still sell. And so, at the age of 45 (CRAZY), Jennifer has decided to go full-on Vegas. She’s just inked a deal with The Axis at Planet Hollywood for a lucrative residency gig.

Jennifer Lopez is in the final stages of making a deal to perform in Vegas … and according to the contract — obtained by TMZ — she’ll rake in more per show than Britney Spears. Jennifer is being offered a whopping $350,000 per show at The Axis, Planet Hollywood … the same place Britney is performing.

Britney is making a paltry $310K a show. But Britney will ultimately score more than JLo because her contract provides she’ll do 96 shows over 2 years. JLo will do 72 shows, 3 times a week for 24 weeks over a 1 or 2 year period — the contract leaves that open.

So, in the end, Britney is guaranteed $29,760,000 for the 2-year run. JLo will be guaranteed $26,383,326. It’s all chump change compared to Celine Dion, who does 70 shows a year and gets $33,320,000.

[From TMZ]

$350,000 a show is amazing. Plus, I’m sure Jennifer – being the smart multi-platform brand that she is – probably figured out a way to bring in more money somehow. Maybe by shilling some of her products in some kind of side-deal in Vegas. Anyway, I think this is a smart move. It will give her stability and she won’t have to run around the country doing shows, now her fans will come to her. Plus, Jennifer will actually put some time, thought and money into her show, more so than Britney, who reportedly looks like an uncoordinated zombie on stage most of the time.

    Damnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! That’s all I got.

    • mimif says:

We could do it better, kri. Been working on my dance moves and stuff.

      • kri says:

I’m thinking the Dong Posse needs a residency in Vegas…we need a theme. There should be a couch prop (a la Billy Bob) , the Wax Cumby from Tussauds..and of course a mishmash of choreo from Anaconda, some Fosse moves and maybe some line-dancing. Let’s get to work. Vegas waits for no one. P.S. I am going by the stage name Nomi Coonors. You can be Krystal Malone. No one will know!!

  2. Aye Gee says:

She’s a horrible singer but a great performer. Her and Beyoncé are the only two singers of this generation I would pay to see in Vegas. I would say GaGa but I just… Can’t.

    • kibbles says:

I would never pay to see JLo on stage. She is a horrible singer. I don’t know about her performances but I don’t think it is worth the money to see her lip synching on stage. These days I wouldn’t even pay for Britney and I used to be a big fan of hers in my teens. I attended one of Britney’s earliest concerts in the 90s and I saw that even back then she was still kind of a mess. She had us waiting for her for 2 hours. The only performer currently in Vegas I’d pay decent money to see in concert is Celine Dion because you will be guaranteed an excellent live musical performance.

    • NeNe says:

I wouldn’t ever pay to see JLo on stage. I think she is a horrible singer. She is just awful. I don’t really see what the big hoopla is about her. If it weren’t for PDiddy she wouldn’t be where she is today.

      • deehunny says:

She IS a terrible singer but she is a performer. She dances and puts on a SHOW. You pay for the entertainment. Everyone’s definition of what entertainment is can be different.

      • Pandy says:

up. Agree with NeNe. Terrible singer and Diddy plus Grammy’s dress showing her boobs put her on magazine covers. She’s not a very good actress either. She made the one good movie with Clooney and that’s because she didn’t have much dialogue. Beyond over-rated. But beautiful.

    JLO + Vegas
    ‘Oh the horror’

    • mimif says:

Oh shit, where’s Jaderu? This is going to make her maths flare up again.

      • Jaderu says:

Don’t worry. I’m applying Vic’s vaporub to my maths flare up. The fumes also work on my flux capacitor.

      • mimif says:

How deep down the Doyle Bramhall II taterhole can we go? And will we find a McMuppet at the end? Hairless cats want to know.

I think Jennifer has always had pretty good street style. It’s amazing she’s made so much money off of just being a “good dancer”, a great body, and beautiful face. I’m a fan of hers, but we need to be honest, she is not that good of a singer. I actually think she sounds pretty good when singing in Spanish though. Anyways, good for her. She is one of the few who actually worked her way up out of no where.

    • apsutter says:

Yea she can’t sing for shit but I’ve always loved her style. Her and Bey’s street style are so sexy to me and, I think, when they look their best.

  5. Pri says:

Britney fans always call her the best “entertainer”. JLo can dance and her voice isn’t the best, it is not the worst either. And she has a hit catalogue too.

    • word says:

I think Jennifer’s show will be a hit. She puts 100% into her shows. I’ve never seen J.Lo not perform well.

      • Loopy says:

Britney due to what happened to her years ago has lost her stage spark but boy watch her performances before that,go watch Britney in Last Vegas one of the best shows ever. And also Janet Jackson velvet rope tour way better than JLO or Bey.

      • apsutter says:

        Oh man…Janet! Miss her

      • Tiffany :) says:

Even in her prime I didn’t find Britney to be a great performer. She looked good in costumes, but she was always behind her dancers and would mark the steps a lot.

Janet Jackson was an incredible performer. I think Beyoncé is a better dancer/performer than either JLo or Britney.

      • tabasco says:

        Totally agree re: Janet.

      • deehunny says:

yea wow the velvet rope tour. bringing it back.

  6. Mean Hannah says:

I don’t like the pants or boots but she looks good – and in them, too!

I’m surprised that she can bring in that much per show, though I’m not surprised at her other money making ventures. She should do a makeup line.

  7. Fan says:

I saw Britney’s show in Vegas. I have been to many concerts so I think I have some frame of reference. Britney performance really was great.

  8. Loopy says:

So i guess Vegas is the last chance saloon to put on shows? I can’t ever imagine Beyonce or Madonna doing that, quite surprised at Jlo in fact she is still pretty out there, she had a revival of sorts of the last couple of years.

    • NeNe says:

Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the end of JLo. In my opinion she’s just awful.

    • Yeah says:

It’s not a last chance. It’s a smart choice. Who wants to travel all around the world doing show after show when you can stay in one place and have everyone come to you? Traveling is exhausting.

      • word says:

World tours are exhausting. She has school-aged kids now, twins none the less. It’s best she stay in one spot. This is a smart move on her part. Celine’s been doing Vegas for a long time now, no one said it was her “last chance saloon”.

  9. Jaderu says:

♪Waiting for tonight, waaa ohhhh when you would be here in my arms♪
    Still my jam. No regrets.

  10. Jay says:

Ugh what a sad world we live in where one person can make in a few hours what another person makes in 10 years. I know that’s just how it is and the public is the reason these people make so much, but still. Just ugh.

    • me says:

You’re right it is depressing. Just imagine, if J.LO wasn’t born with that face and body…would we even know who she is? Doubt it.

  11. Ciria says:

    Love this outfit

  12. DrFunkenstein says:

Nah. Can’t picture paying money to see her, dancing notwithstanding. Lousy singer, and in my view grossly overrated all around.

  13. apsutter says:

I’m STILL saucy over the fact that they stopped making my favorite perfume of hers…it was so awesome and its just gone 🙁 I’ve always loved her street style and I actually found her Kohl’s line to be pretty cute. Basic pieces that I’ve been able to jazz up nicely.

  14. lolamd says:

I love those pants. Anyone know the brand?

  15. Lucy2 says:

I think she’s a terrible singer and I would never pay to see her show, but she is one hell of a businesswoman. She’s turned a less than mediocre talent into an incredible empire.

  16. Jag says:

She’s getting that kind of money and so is Britney, when in reality, Charo and Dolly Parton are the ones who should be getting paid like that. Shakira, too, if she’d go back to her old stuff.
