Anne Hathaway almost got hypothermia during filming of ‘Interstellar’

Here are some new photos of Anne Hathaway in London last night and today. Last night she attendd the Maison Assouline flagship store opening and looked very friendly and touchy-feely with Mr. Valentino. So… I guess she wasn’t worried about getting Ebola from Valentino? For the record, Annie’s rep told The Daily Mail that Annie didn’t “refuse” to shake hands with an Argentine journalist because of Ebola concerns – the rep said: “That is nonsense – she wasn’t shaking anyone’s hands because she was coming down with a cold and didn’t want to get anyone sick.” Okay, but then why was Annie so touchy-feely with costars and Valentino? Something doesn’t add up here, you know?

Meanwhile, Annie has a new interview with The Telegraph, which you can read here. Her new thing is “woe is Annie” and talking about how sick she is. Some highlights:

Her spacesuit was leaky during Interstellar: “It was a scene where my character becomes submerged in water and trapped, so I go down in the water expecting it’s probably not going to be warm but I will at least be dry. But after about 10 seconds the suit is totally full of water. I don’t know what’s happening or why, but everybody is hurting and cold so I don’t say anything about it and wonder, ‘How long can this last?’ Well, it did last and I became tingly and couldn’t feel anything and things were starting to get a bit hazy around the edges. I thought Chris is going to be way more annoyed if I die of hypothermia than he is if I speak up about it and maybe delay filming for five minutes. So I threw caution to the wind and told him what was going on and he said, ‘OK, let’s roll right now.’ And we were done. I was just really, really, really cold and it’s not that Chris sent me off to get warmed up. Wimps don’t last long on his set.”

Her journey: “I’m always nervous I’m going to mess up,” she says. “One of the most important parts of my journey is that I have embarrassed myself again and again and I have failed again and again and eventually that gives you strength of character, so I feel a little bit more comfortable now.”

Her husband: “I’m very fortunate that my husband has a job that allows him to travel and kind of make his own schedule, so he travels with me whenever possible. Sometimes that’s not possible and whenever that happens, we have a rule that we aren’t apart for more than two weeks. When we got married I thought it was a great party, but I honestly thought we were doing it more for tradition and I wasn’t prepared for the radical shift that my heart was going to have.”

Her ex Raffaello Follieri: “I got through my pain the way I always deal with unpleasant things and that’s to make a joke of it.”

She claims she has never “gone Hollywood”: “I just went to my 10 year college reunion, and it was awesome,” she enthuses. “I stayed really close with my tight group of friends from college and there’s about ten of us and I still see most of them every day, and I am going to see a bunch tonight actually, and so it’s not like I left college behind when I left; I took the best parts with me. Going back it was nice to see people I had lost touch with as well but after a certain part of the evening …,” she laughs, “I don’t really remember much.”

[From The Telegraph]

Woe is Annie! She almost got hypothermia and no one was looking out for her and she was so tough and brave and professional. ALL THE OSCARS PLS. As for the whole thing about how she’s never “gone Hollywood” – gurl, you can still have friends from college and be a Hollywood drama queen. Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive.

She also talks about the science-heavy dialogue in the Interstellar script and how worried she was that she wouldn’t be able to memorize it and even if she did, that no one would understand it. I kind of wonder if Interstellar really is going to resonate with audiences or whether it will just be a snooze. Hm.

    HERE WE GO….

Thank you for your great sacrifices for us AnnE, Amen.

Also, I saw a clip of that movie and noticed Matthew McMuppet reprised his scintillating role as the Lincoln Cadillac driver, who is Matthew McMuppet, who is the Lincoln Cadillac driver.

  2. QQ says:

Im not gonna bother with whatever sad misbegotten tale she had for us today about her acting process and her fee fees Im Only here to say her clothes and hair are BANGING!

  3. mkyarwood says:

Almost! Love her outfits here, tho. I’m a sucker for all black + varying textures.

  4. Rose says:

tell me more about your struggles, anne.

  5. emmie_a says:

She gets through painful times by making a joke of it? HA. I can’t see her joking about much at all. She seems like a total killjoy.

And I saw the pics of her draped all over Valentino – her cold story is BS.

  6. Luciana says:

Another Oscar campaign already? Didn’t she learn a thing from Les Mis?
Regarding the argentine journo, let’s put it this way: Entitled b*tch doesn’t like peasants from Latin America.

Her husband has a job? I always see him traveling with her everywhere.

The movie is getting the worst Nolan’s career reviews. The biggest complaints are about the script.

    • Tapioca says:

Ah, but “worst” for Chris Nolan does not necessarily make for a bad movie. Inception was overlong, made little sense and had Marion Cotillard’s character in it and still found an audience.

I shall watch Interstellar with my chin-stroking, serious cinema hat on, just so I can say I’ve seen all his movies. Pretentious, moi?

    • SK says:

I saw it at a premiere screening at IMAX (best way to see it – it was filmed in IMAX film), and it was fantastic. A truly epic space film. Yes there were some odd moments, it was extremely long, and a lot of the science theory goes over your head; but it is definitely worth seeing, and on the biggest screen possible. Nolan is pretty much the only filmmaker making intelligent blockbusters. I think we should all support him to make sure he keeps doing that. And when the film is really good, even better. I would recommend going to see it knowing as little as possible about it. Let yourself be surprised. Oh, and I was sceptical about Anne and Matthew pulling off these roles; but they were both fantastic and spot on.

She sees “most of” her 10 college friends every day? Huh?

  9. DIANE says:

So let’s see what she said:

” I was just really, really, really cold and it’s not that Chris sent me off to get warmed up. Wimps don’t last long on his set.” So Nolan’s a tyrant and she ‘almost’ got hypothermia. Bet he won’t work with her again. “I’m always nervous I’m going to mess up.” How delightfully neurotic. Must make her a pleasure to work with. “I got through my pain the way I always deal with unpleasant things and that’s to make a joke of it.” Who’s she kidding? She never impressed me as having any sense of humor at all. “There’s about ten of us and I still see most of them every day.” Who among us sees almost ten friends every day?

I kind of remember her complaining about the conditions on Les Mis in a similar way. That very well may be true and she certainly should get to complain about her job, as we all do, but maybe she should do so to her husband and friends rather than publicly.

I’m looking forward to interstellar, I’ve liked all of Nolan’s films so far and even if the script is supposedly not great, it looks visually amazing.

  11. Artimis says:

I don’t thing ‘Poor AnnE’ is a new thing – she’s in the same self-pitying, passive-aggressive-ing club as Taylor Swift. YUCK.

  12. Bread and Circuses says:

I still like Anne. I know a lot of people don’t, but I really do. Yes, the Oscar campaign was a bit much, but I still think she’s smart and strong and a great actress. No snark here.

  13. Belle Epoch says:

I went to the store and almost got hit by a car, and I almost yelled at the guy, but then the light changed and I almost missed it, and I almost didn’t find a parking spot, and the store was almost out of my favorite artisanal goat cheese, and I almost couldn’t pay for it, but thank God I had that extra 50 bucks I almost forgot about.

    That is, I bought cheese.

  14. Inky says:

I have never really been either way about Anne – apart from the Oscar campaign, that was just way over the top, but this quote “Her journey: “I’m always nervous I’m going to mess up,” she says. “One of the most important parts of my journey is that I have embarrassed myself again and again and I have failed again and again and eventually that gives you strength of character, so I feel a little bit more comfortable now.”, I can really relate to. It actually makes me like her more and she comes across like a ‘real’ person – whatever that means in Hollywood!

Nah, I am totally over the Hathahate!

  15. Lex says:

Lol almost hypothermia… what does that mean? I almost got a cold last winter. .. I almost broke my arm yesterday. Yea, but ya didn’t so STFU.
