On Saturday night in LA, the 2014 LACMA Art + Film Gala honoring Barbara Kruger and Quentin Tarantino was held at the LACMA. They got a really good turnout this year – lots and lots of A-listers and friends of Quentin Tarantino and Barbara Kruger. Plus, lots of famewhores, of course. Like Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.
The event was sponsored by Gucci, so of course Kim did NOT wear Gucci. Instead, she poured herself into this unfortunate Cushnie et Ochs dress. What is wrong with her? I’m getting tired of just blaming Kanye for Kim’s crappy style. I mean, obviously, Kanye treats Kim like his dress-up Real Doll. But at some point, Kim has to own her crappy style. There is no reason for a short, curvy girl to wear this dress. Kim probably thinks she looks like a model in it, but the length and cut make her look shorter and wider. The top is a mess too. I love the color (I love a rich sapphire) but in cheap-looking satin? NO.
Kim also accessorized with Tom Ford heels and a Cartier necklace. I’m assuming the necklace was borrowed, just because I really hope Kim doesn’t own such a bad piece. As for Kanye… I honestly don’t mind the leather pants or the black blazer. This is what pisses me off: the brown suede booties. Kanye loves a pair of booties and he also loves a fringed moccasin. He has some legit shoe game, but he needs to invest in some proper dress shoes… in black. This outfit would have been so much better with some Gucci booties in black leather.

Yeah, the cut of that dress conspired to make Kim look as short and thick as possible. She looks comical! How can she look in the mirror at this and think it looks flattering?!
Kim should look for simple, uncomplicated silhouettes that make her look taller and leaner. She should NEVER wear a high neckline, like a crew or turtle. She should never wear shiny fabrics and she should tailor her garments to fit close to the body without being tight. No cropped pants. Dresses should be full-length or hit above the knee when one has legs as short as she ; none of that mid-calf length or complicated skirts like this one for her. She needs simple, uncomplicated clothing in beiges and whites and jewel tones. Why do all of us know this yet she can’t seem to figure it out?
Once more la Kartrashian butchers yet another outfit. She does the impossible on a daily basis. Just when you think she cant get any tackier, she does!
i can almost hear the stitches on the front of her dress across her waist/midsection go “hold onnn hold onnn” they are some of the hardest-working, totally-nails stitches the fashion industry has ever seen.

The only thing I can say is that I really like that color. And not even especially on Kim or anything – just the color in general. There’s really nothing else positive I can say about the dress – at all.
even the colour doesn’t work with her complexion though – that’s a blue for really dark African skin or super pale Celtic – not LA orange.
I don’t think that the dress is a complete failure on Kim. It’s how she’s accessorized that bring it into escort territory. I don’t mind how it fits around her hips, I actually like the detailing in that area, it’s the shoes and choker that look like they are made of rhinestones that cheapens the look. Also, her face looks really bad (which I feel bad writing though I went ahead and did it). Even though she has ruined her natural good looks with surgery I think that she is still an attractive person but I think that we are seeing the effects of said surgery here and her face looks misshapen and cat-like. #Nodisrespecttocatstheyarethesuperiorspecies.

It is NOT the accessories that cheapen it. The midsection area is too tight and the top too loose. She never wears anything that fits properly. The color is gorgeous.

Kim’s dress looks like it was never meant for the female human body. Even a model-type couldn’t make the cut of it look good…and Kim is the opposite of a model-type.

I like this outfit but it probably would have looked better on somebody else. It makes Kim look heavier and shorter than she is.
The scary thing is it isn’t even close to worse thing they have worn? It is probably closer to one of the best, because the color looks good on her and with the draping it doesn’t make her butt look like its own continent. It does make her look a bit like ignored baby #2 is on the way. Kanye with different boots would be fine. So for them it is a win. This is on a Kardashian scale you know the scale that says you are twenty pounds lighter than you actually are.
I’m sorry, but I hate the look of a choker with a low cut dress. It cuts up the look visually and makes it seem harsh. Plus it looks like it’s keeping her neck attached to her body. And satin is hard to pull off with any body type, but makes curvy body types look especially bad. It hugs and accentuates everything you don’t want it to. Especially your spanx/waist trainer.
If this was anyone else, I’d be horrfied. But since it’s Kim…well. She has worn alot worse.I can’t see her nipples, or a caribou toe. I’m not attempting to blind myself this time around. Just not looking again will do.

Agreed. Satin is so awful and unforgiving. (Rarely does it look good–maybe on Charlize Theron because she can pull off a bias cut.) The color is good on Kim, but that is it. The diamond collar just cuts her up and makes her appear stumpier than she already is. She has no taste.

That dress violates my rule of busyness. I always say you can never have more than two interesting things going on at a time. Here she has the cowl neck, asymmetrical neckline, satin, string hanging off one side, asymmetrical hemline, and split.
And yes, it is a terrible fit on her.
What’s worse is with all the other damn near perfection that walked the carpet, they look even more ridiculous. I guess it’s always been that way, but this is the first time it jumped out at me.

I have to agree. I think the brown shoes work with his outfit. It’s Kim’s outfit that is the problem here…head to toe. Why does she keep doing this? Also, did anyone catch Kourtney and Khloe take The Hamptons last night? It was so boring, I regret tuning in. Oh there is so much wrong with her look! Let us start with the good however. The color is rich and looks nice with her makeup. Now on to the bad. The choker is too thick for neck, it makes her look neckless. The dress itself is about 2 maybe three sizes too small. I know she wants press for looking p.g. and this does indeed do that. She has ugly knees and should never show them. The shoes make her already too short and undefined legs even shorter and thus she looks like she is even stumpier then her usual look. And Kanye well he needs to put away those pants and those work boots. It makes him look like he would smell. And this must have been some sort of a buy your way in event because otherwise why would either of them be there? And really when you put Kim alongside an A-lister she looks like a Wal-Mart special.
Why were they there? This was a film gala and neither of them have anything to do with film. Kim especially. She is a glorified porn star in reality. Nothing looks good on her because everything is two sizes too small for her body – for a former stylist and a “fashion designer” she knows nothing about the fit of a garment. Just looking at her and imagining what she does all day exhausts me. She must spend endless hours tarting herself up – makeup on, then off and then on again, endless changes of clothes, nipping out to be photographed and back in to change again for another photo opportunity… And all her attempts to look glamorous, sexy, the fashion icon of our times are completely futile. I couldn’t care less what she wears, but it should at least fit properly.
I feel really bad for their little girl. What role models and mentors this “mother and father” are… I truly hope the nannies are able to fill the gaps for nurturing, engagement and education of their poor child.
