Anne Hathaway in Rodarte at the NYC premiere: lovely or unflattering?

Sorry for all of the Annie Hathaway posts today! In my defense, we really needed to talk about the fug jewelry Anne’s husband designed for her at the LA premiere of Interstellar. Just as we need to discuss these photos – Annie at the NYC premiere of Interstellar. Is it just me or has Anne’s style mojo taken a hit during this promotional tour? You know why? She fired Rachel Zoe, her long-time stylist. Say what you will about Rachel Zoe as a person, but Zoe managed to give Anne some BIG-impact fashion moments. I think they had a falling out after Annie’s Oscar dress disaster and their relationship never recovered.

Anyway, Annie wore this Rodarte look to last night’s New York premiere. I hate it. Most people refuse to admit that Rodarte really isn’t the best at designing flattering, pretty clothes, but maybe that’s the deal with Rodarte. You’re wearing “art” not “fashion.” Annie’s heels are Christian Louboutin ‘Follies Resille’ pumps. Meanwhile, Annie recently spoke about one her most celebrated films, The Devil Wears Prada. Apparently, Meryl Streep iced her out completely during filming:

Eight years before Christopher Nolan hurtled Anne Hathaway into space alongside Matthew McConaughey, in this weekend’s Interstellar, the actress was starring opposite another Oscar winner, Meryl Streep, in The Devil Wears Prada. Hathaway played a fresh-faced, frizzy-haired recent college grad who unexpectedly finds herself at a high-fashion magazine, assisting its icy editrix played by Meryl Streep. And in a new interview, Hathaway remembered what it was like embodying that kind of abusive professional relationship with the revered film star.

“When I met her she gave me a huge hug,” Hathaway recalled recently on The Graham Norton Show. “[A]nd I’m like, ‘Oh my god, we are going to have the best time on this movie.’ And then she’s like, “Ah sweetie, that’s the last time I’m nice to you.’”

“She then went into her trailer and came out the ice queen and that was really the last I saw of ‘Meryl’ for months, until we promoted the film,” Hathaway said.

The Oscar-nominated actress made it very clear that Streep was merely staying in character between the scenes of the movie, which was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel.

“She’s the most amazing, warm person,” Hathaway said of Streep, before adding that she would be up for doing a sequel of the film. “Wouldn’t that be fun? I’d love to do that,” the Interstellar actress said, before adding a less-hopeful side note: “But I don’t know if there is any plan for it.”

[From Vanity Fair]

I could see Meryl going completely Method and treating Annie and Emily Blunt like dirt throughout filming. I’ve always thought Anne still seems sort of afraid of Meryl still, to this day. Ha! Also: I still watch that movie whenever it comes on TV. You know what? It holds up surprisingly well.

And I’m including some photos of Jessica Chastain (wearing a rather good Prada gown) and Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves, also at the premiere last night.

Fabric remnant challenge on Project Runway.

LMao Matthew looks like a mad scientist.
    *tears*

  3. Hissyfit says:

Anne’s dress is fug as hell. Camila and Jessica looks great. Matthew looks like his wife just pulled him out from somewhere to stand and pose with her. Lol.

  4. Julie says:

Anne can’t pull that dress off. It’s meant to be worn by model types. She doesn’t just have it.

There is literally nothing appealing about Interstellar. I dislike most of the actors in it, Nolan seems smug and pretentious. Glad it’s not getting the reviews they all thought it would.

    • Jen says:

nothing appealing? The reviews say it’s visually one of the most beautiful movies ever.

      • lucy2 says:

I already bought my tickets for imax. I like Nolan’s films, but mostly I just want to see the visuals in this.

    • Isabelle says:

Already bought my tickets & can’t wait to see it. Lmao because some reviewers don’t like, the majority do like it, but haters are making it as a complete failure with a 0% fresh rating.

  5. Really says:

Camilla is better dressed than both of them

    • Josephine says:

I agree. I love her whole look. It’s a nice change for her. I find her dresses are usually indistinguishable from the next, but she’s never poorly dressed. Just usually safe, and I like this change.

  6. Someonestolemyname says:

Matthew Mac’s wife Camilla is Stunning! Wow!

Anne’s dress looks like a fishing net, someone pulled up from the ocean, full of sea weed and sea creatures and made a dress out of it.

    • Charlie says:

I find Camilla so unfortunate looking.
Anne’s hair is great and her makeup looks good here.

      • Brionne says:

Yes,she is such an unfortunate looking hot Brazilian former model.

      • Charlie says:

Gisele is also a hot Brazilian model and I find her face unfortunate too. Different tastes.

      • Grant says:

Unfortunate is such a strange word to use to describe someone’s physical features. At the very least, Camilla and Gisele are both marginally attractive people. “Unfortunate” is what I would use to describe, I don’t know, Quasimodo in the bell tower.

      • Charlie says:

To be honest, I find her ugly. I was trying to be polite.

  7. Luciana says:

Jessica looks amazing. That Prada dress should have worn Anne to the Oscars.

  8. lower-case deb says:

Emily Blunt was all kinds of amazing in TDWP. even her haughty, wordless gesture. the finger snap is one of my favorite scenes.

on the Rodarte dress… this is what happens if you kill off all the mice in the world until there’s not a single one left to sew a ball gown for Cinderella.

  9. GlimmerBunny says:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jessica’s whole look! I never understand people who say she has bad syle, in my opinion she always looks lovely!

  10. fd says:

When I see an unflattering but interesting dress like Hathaway’s here I think who could pull this off? The answer is usually Lupita! Glad to see her on the site today, she is such a goddess.

    • Josephine says:

You’re right, she could. For some reason, this dress makes Anne’s legs look chunky, and it doesn’t seem like they could be, right? Her body seems a lot like Katie Holmes’s bod in this pic, and I don’t usually associate the two.

  11. QQ says:

Matthew Looks like he slept on those clothes 3 days, out in the hot hot sun ( 4 out 5 Boehners) and the woke him juuussstt in time to walk the Carpet

Anne is a Patchwork of Ill fitting bad

  12. Leftovers says:

Those shoes need to be incinerated.

  13. lucy2 says:

    I don’t like Anne’s dress, and Jessica’s is a little boring.
I remember Anne talking about that with Meryl before. That movie really has held up, I watch it whenever it’s on too.

    Anne´s dress…
Does someone here know the Grimm fairy tale “The peasant’s wise daughter”?
Disney 😉 hasn´t made a movie out of it so i don´t know how known it is outside of Germany.

The King jails a peasant and the daughter wants to free her father. The girl in the story is known to be very smart. So the King wants to prove her and she has to solve a riddle: she has to come back neither clothed nor naked, neither walking nor riding, neither on the road nor off it.

So the girl dresses in a fish net 🙂 That´s how Anne´s dress looks to me. Fish net plus algae. I bet the motto of the collection is “Into the sea”?

That fairy tale is worth a look. She ties the fish net on a donkey´s tail and so on to fullfull the riding/walking/road parts. The King marries her and makes her his Queen, but later has ego problems with her being smarter than him. He sends her away, but she is in love with him and way to smart. So she outfoxes him in the end and wins his heart.

So if you want to read a fairy tale about a smart woman, riddles and kingnapping ehh kidnapping… That´s the one for you 😀

Awful dresses! And Anne’s is a mess.

    Mathew looks like Doctor Who.

I love the dress actually…very artistic and appropriate for premieres of this movie
