Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg get a reality show, Donnie Loves Jenny

A Celebration Of Barbara Walters Cocktail Reception Red Carpet
Given Donnie Wahlberg’s involvement in his family’s reality show, and Jenny McCarthy’s lack of a filter or any common sense this seemed inevitable: Donnie and Jenny are getting their own reality show. It will be a 10 show series following their newlywed life and will be titled Donnie Loves Jenny. This sounds like such a great idea, because no new couple’s relationship was ever negatively impacted by a reality show in which they played exaggerated versions of themselves. The show will premiere in early 2015. Here’s more, thanks to US Magazine:

Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg will star on a new reality docuseries that will chronicle their newlywed life, beginning with their nuptials, A&E Network announced Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Donnie Loves Jenny, a 10-episode reality show, will follow McCarthy and Wahlberg’s shift into married life after the stars tied the knot this past August outside of Chicago. As exclusively reported by Us Weekly — with plenty of photos! — the two exchanged vows before 90 guests in an intimate 20-minute ceremony…

The couple discussed their latest joint endeavor (which they will also be co-producing along with 44 Blue Productions) in a statement Tuesday. “Not only have we found a new home together, we have found the perfect place for our exciting new projects to live with A&E Network,” they said. “We’re so excited about this deal and look forward to a long and successful relationship creating entertaining and provocative unscripted programming with our partners at A&E. Our feeling is, who better to make our first show for the network about than about us? We love working together and with our crazy schedules this gives us the chance to both work and play together.”

According to their statement, Jenny and Donnie are so busy they can barely find time to spend together so they came up with the brilliant idea to pitch a reality show. This way they can make money whenever they’re able to see each other, with the minor trade off of their privacy. You know, they seem kind of perfect for each other. They’re definitely on the same page when it comes to promoting themselves. I give it two years.

In the gallery are some photos of Donnie and Jenny’s wedding which we never got around to publishing.

Meh. Can’t really criticize them for this. She’s a hustler even if I can’t stand her. The real problem is the audience. Quit watching these crappy shows and they’ll go away.

    • Mixtape says:

Agreed, it was only a matter of time. I probably won’t watch it but, if stranded in a hotel room with bad wifi, limited channels, and each of them running a reality marathon, I’d be more likely to watch this than some show with people I’ve never heard of throwing champagne glasses at each other in a vain effort to make me care.

  2. bammer says:

All this desperation. They knew each other 5 minutes before getting married. Why whore yourself out like this? Doesn’t he have an actual scripted show as well as his family’s reality show? Millions of New Kid money?

    • Jayna says:

They had been together like a year and a couple of months when they got married. I don’t call that a second. At their age, 40s, they should know. Of course, in Hollywood, they all get divorced, except a few.

I agree about whoring yourself out doing this show about their marriage. They are both successful enough, not needing the dollars, to end up selling their relationship like this.

I feel like the only proper response here is an oldie but a goodie:

    Gag me with a spoon.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

That made me laugh. There were a few years when that’s about all I said. And it fits this situation perfectly.

  4. NewWester says:

Is anyone not surprised about this? I give this marriage two years tops

  5. Kemper says:

God damn! Another f*cking reality show. Doesn’t he already have Wahlburgers or something? Call me when the title is changed to Donnie Hates Jenny.

  6. Loopy says:

Another reality show wow! Anyways the only couple that I know of to survive this curse is the Osbournes.

  7. Jayna says:

I guess I am surprised he’s doing this.

I do like that he actually married someone his own age, which is rare in Celebrityland, and he seems to love her as she is, not trying to change her. People can like her or not, but it is refreshing in that respect.

    • MaiGirl says:

I agree. They are both problematic people who seem to make a good couple. I am not big fans of theirs, but I do appreciate that we don’t have to justify this one with ” At least she’s not 18!”. Over it!

  8. Jmo says:

I have come to the conclusion that Reality TV is the new TV. “Docuseries”. How lofty! It’s a TV show, for pure entertainment. Call a spade a spade. And now we can all go about our business.

    • Josephine says:

But it seems to do such awful things to the people in the shows. I don’t get the trend to be entertained by people humiliating themselves, which is really what these shows are about.

  9. MrsBPitt says:

Joanie Loves Chachi…..these two idiots think they are 15…I think two years is pushing it, I give it a year!

  10. PunkyMomma says:

And who did not see this coming? Bleech.

  11. SypherMomma says:

They are definitely trying to tap into the whole Ice Loves CoCo vein…..only Ice and CoCo have a solid marriage, I give these two a couple of years…..she drives me nuts.

  12. Erinn says:

Donnie loves Jenny – for now.

  13. Skins says:

    No, just No

  14. Kiddo says:

HEY GUYS, there isn’t enough stupid on TV. What are we going to do to change that?

  15. Kori says:

He’s actually really good on Blue Bloods–and has been in other roles since the end of NKOTB. I wish he wasn’t going the reality TV route. I have the feeling that it was her idea and he’s just happily going along because he really does seem nuts about her.

  16. Size Does Matter says:

I have really liked him since Band of Brothers. She cheapens him, to me. I liked her with Jim Carrey. My perception of them all is probably off.

    • briargal says:

I agree with you–she just seems like an x-rated p star. He seems like a PG rated lovable guy. Wonder how long this will last??

      • Size Does Matter says:

Yes, exactly! Love your ratings! Maybe while their images clash, they’re actually well suited in real life. Time will tell.

  17. SugarMalone says:

So I guess that’s the real reason that Mark and his family didn’t go to the wedding – there were reality TV cameras there shooting the whole thing.

It’s one thing to be on a reality show that essentially promotes a business that you have a financial stake in but it’s a whole other level of awful to be forced the tolerate being a part of a crappy Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey retread that’s only going to tarnish the Wahlberg brand. I’m not a Mark fan but I’d say he made the right call on that one.

  18. Mandy says:

This seems like a swell idea! Good luck, they’re gonna need it.

  19. Someonestolemyname says:

    She’s such a Famewhore.
This will end up in a mess.

  20. Tiffany says:

I knew there would be a cold day in hell when I wrote this (no really, it is like 20 degrees here), Mark is the smart one out of this bunch. Damn.
