Beyonce hallucinates compliments from Michelle Obama

oscars arrivals 9 220209

What’s the conventional wisdom on Beyonce? I don’t really care for her in interviews, but I like her music. She’s sort of like a more talented version of Jessica Simpson, right? Self-absorbed, not all that bright, but basically harmless?

This little piece of news has me doubting the “harmless” stuff. Beyonce announced to The Sun that First Lady Michelle Obama personally thanked her for being a role model to Sasha and Malia. Keep in mind – this did not come from an interview with Michelle Obama, so this is not some kind of semi-official message being sent by the President and the First Lady. Beyonce herself announced that she’s the Obama girls’ role model. Ugh.

First Lady Michelle Obama has thanked singer Beyonce for being a role model for her daughters.

The R&B star, 27, said the US President’s wife — mum to Malia, ten, and Sasha, seven — approached her the day before she sang at one of the inauguration balls.

Stunned Beyonce revealed: “She told me that she was very happy that her children had an artist like myself and — I don’t even feel right saying this – she said she was happy they had me to look up to.”

[From The Sun]

Oh, Beyonce. “I don’t even feel right saying this”? Then don’t say it. Because I’m not buying it. I have no doubt that the Obama girls probably listen to Beyonce’s music, they probably sing and dance and play around to music like all little girls (and some big girls) do. But the idea of Michelle “thanking” Beyonce for being the girls’ “role model” is a bit too much.

My guess is a simple compliment from Michelle somehow got twisted in Beyonce’s diva mind. Michelle probably said something like, “Thanks for singing at the inaugural ball. The girls love your music.” To which Beyonce responded, “Of course I know all little girls want to be me because I’m Sasha FIERCE! At laaaa-sst….”

That dress is visual evidence why stars should leave the designing to the professionals.

I don’t know Michelle Obama but I’m sure she would want someone with a little more substance as her daughters’ role model.

  2. Sauronsarmy says:

I had no idea I could passionately hate someone that I don’t even know.

  3. Codzilla says:

Lord, this woman is such a jackass.

  4. HEB says:

I remember once someone asked Barack what he thought about the more scandalous celebrities out there like Britney, Lindsay, etc. that might be mistaken as role models and his answers was that his daughters did not know who they were, that they were more interested in Beyonce. She probably read/saw that interview and derived this from it.

  5. Katja says:

I guess Michelle could have been glad that her daughters have a successful black woman to look up to?

Although my vote would be Oprah, not Ms. Fierce.

“I want my daughters to grow up, sell out, wear trashy gold dresses and secretly marry Jay Z!”

  6. Baholicious says:

What’s today, Thursday? So it would be Beyonce is a “little turd in a big bowl” day right and not vice-versa?

  7. geronimo says:

Beyonce’s probably got a whole new batch of business cards printed up with ‘No.1 Role Model to the Obama Children’ (in gold on black) on them. Jackass is right. Seriously, how do these people get to be so stupid?

  8. Ash says:

God it looks like she got twisted in a god aweful saran wrap floral curtain.

  9. Ash says:

oh I wish I had the edit ability to remove one less God from that sentence…’scuse that.

  10. Musey says:

Katja, the Obama girls *do* have a successful black woman to look up to. Her name is Michelle Obama.

They don’t need to aspire to be spoiled, overrated rich divas like Beyonce when they can look to their own mother as an example of someone smart, hardworking, talented and successful.

Although if they do need a celebrity role model, I guess they could do worse than Oprah. I’m not a big fan, but at least Oprah cares about people other than herself, unlike “Sasha Fierce.” 😛

  11. buenavissta says:

you said it all for me, Musey.

  12. Christina says:

harmless my ass… didn’t she basically backstab a whole bunch of destiny’s child members and left them in the dust?

  13. Lem says:

WoW I thought I was the only one who couldn’t stomach B.
Glad to see I keep good company.

  14. FF says:

Sad as I am to say this (because it kind of makes me a hater) I really do wish she would tell her mother where to stick those cheesy designs.

They are HORRIBLE. Worse, they make her daughter look HORRIBLE.

ps – The Sun have been known to make total crap up. Freddy Star ate my hamster, anyone?

  15. Polkasox says:

What’s with the awkward pose? She looks like a barbie doll whose arms are permanently bent.

  16. becca says:

Oh, Michelle probably did say something as simple as “thanks for singing at the ball, the girls love your music.” And then it went right to her overinflated ego.

Byeonce’s never bothered me, but after hearing the rumors (which I think may be true) that B and her entire family are card carrying members of the f-ing GOP (so B went to glorify herself in front of Obama like so many other celebs out there who went to the parties), and her comment that she’s “frugal on jewelry” which is total BS, I can’t stand her.

  17. morgs says:

That pose is is her signature “Eff my pits” pose. Her go-to everytime. It makes her look chunky because it adds too much volume.

  18. Holly says:

@morgs she does it, ironically enough, to look less chunky. The arms look worse when held at the sides and the flab is allowed to bulge.

HILARIOUS! Yeah, I wish she would go and sit down somewhere and be quiet. The more I hear about this girl, the less I like her.

  20. boomchakaboom says:

She lost me when she dissed Etta James. That sly little “at laaast” at the Oscars did not escape my notice – nor Etta James’ either, I’m sure. Bee-yotch. And an ungrateful, entitled, bee-yotch at that.

  21. j. ferber says:

Maybe Michelle Obama did say something like that, but she’s a gracious First Lady and would presumably compliment all entertainers invited to the White House. Brad Pitt was just there and maybe she complimented him on being a role model for young people with his charity work. If so, I somehow don’t see him gushing in interviews that he’s a role model for the Obama girls, too. I agree that whatever the First Lady said went straight to B.’s head and she immediately had to broadcast it to the world. On another note, I just adore Michelle Obama. She reminds me of both Jackie Kennedy (with her good looks and stylishness) and Eleanor Roosevelt (just a hunch that she’ll do a lot of good for this country, just as that other great lady did).

  22. j. ferber says:

Forgot to mention that the House of Dereon clothing is truly ugly and tacky. Beyonce may be a good daughter for wearing it, but it certainly doesn’t look good on her.

  23. Candice says:

They have far better role models to up to like Michelle Obama, Hillary Cliton, Ms Rice and Oprah, just to name a few. These are real women with real causes.

  24. lway says:

I cannot stand this woman, or her music….. My colleague just received the latest CD for her birthday and plays it at work continuously. It drives me insane!!

She has this “oh, but I am all that” attitude that makes me want to kick her!

  25. pixiegirl says:

Unjustified inflated egos always hypnotize me.

  26. biz says:

Beyonce’s not bad, as role models go. Sure there are better, but there are also worse.

She’s a successful woman, married to a successful man who seems to love her, has a good life, does not do drugs, and is apparently emotionally stable.

Maybe Michelle did say that! At her girls’ age I wanted to be a pop star too, not a chat show host – or Secretary of State.

I used to hate Beyonce, but she works extremely hard for her success.

Her Destiny’s Child band mates turn up at her shows etc to support her, and she seems to do the same for them. Would that be happening if she was as mean and spiteful as she’s been made out to be?

  27. Autumm Leaves says:

Beyonce is DELUSIONAL! What a liar. Does anyone really believe that the First Lady would say something like this to one who is uneducated and a high school dropout? It defies common sense.

I don’t care how much $$$ she has, she’s still uneducated and it shows every time she opens her mouth. Beyonce is trying to get some shine by riding the Obama’s coattails for her career boost. Totally classless.

Rule of thought, if it didn’t come from Michelle Obama’s own mouth, then this is a lie. We all know First Lady Obama can speak up for herself.

  28. Autumm Leaves says:

@ biz, your last paragraph about Destiny’s Child “showing up to her concerts” is more to do with promotion under contractual obligation than support. If things were “great” then Kelly wouldn’t of broken her contract with Matthew Knowles.

@ Becca, you are right about the original compliment and how Beyonce twisted it around. ALso, yes Beyonce and her family or (secret) Republicans. Destiny’s Child performed for Bush in January 2001 for the Inauguration Youth concert. It’s on Google.

  29. I'm with you on this! says:

    @Lem

    I agree.

I truly (and I do mean TRULY!) believe, “Destiny’s Child” was a group formed by her parents to introduce her to the industry because they knew there was no way in hell she was talented or savvy enough to make it on her own at the time and that it was “The Plan” all along that she would be a “Solo” “Artist”.

Think about it, Where was she in “every” photo, interview or anything else pertaining to publicity as well as performing ? = FRONT AND CENTER after they realized that four members would hinder her ability “to be seen”. And do you think the “Blond Hair” was merely a fashion choice or just another way for her to stand out from the others. I say the latter. Furthermore, the other members should have realized something was up when they chose to name “A Group”, “Destiny’s Child” and not “Destiny’s Children”

It seems to me they took a few courses at “The Diana Ross School of Entertaining”, lol.

  30. rarahrarah says:

OH COME ON! 😎 At least they don’t look up to that miley slut! Beyonce’s got some class

  31. Sakota says:

Sounds like Beyonce is desperate to climb the social ladder. Already going on about her posh education and upbringing, which in her mind should translate into regular invites to the White House for diplomatic dinners and maybe she plans on dumping camel face for a billoinaire shipping or oil tycoon.

  32. RAN says:

    Camel face?! Bwhahahahahahaha! :>

  33. RAN says:

ok so the laugh smiley didn’t work, but that comment was HILARIOUS!

  34. Dani says:

Codzilla and RAN..I piss my pants everytime I read your little comments on Bey-Once. Bey will only be Once in our lifetime and then be quickly forgotten…(the stanky ho). As in “Beyonce who?” and Camelface…Ha…………I’m laffing my ASS OFF!!!!

  35. chocbabe says:

  36. chocbabe says:

Oh!!!!! neither you or i were there when the first lady said what ever she said so none of us are in a position to say anything.cause right now we all working on opinion and no facts.and she’s not your role model and you don’t have to like her if the girls do there’s nothing you can say or do cause frankly it’s none of your business and life will go on for B no matter how much you hate because she has talent and dont trip on that.its not what people say or call you it’s what you answer to so big ups to sasha FIERCE she is fierce and no one got her there she worked for it.its not fair guys’lets be honest some of you will go to your grave without even coming close to making the sacrifises she has to be where she at.she’s trying and that deserves credit.

  39. JackieSA says:

What happened to the little dog she dumped at her PA’s house?

  40. Iris says:

How is Beyonce hallucinating the comment from Michelle Obama? She’s not going to make up what Mrs. Obama said. I swear envy is not attractive.

  41. Well, the topic of the Michelle Obama ideas about music is certainly a fascinating topic. Her ideas is worthy contribution to this interesting discussion of music art. We have to watch it carefully. Although I do not harmonise with all aspects of Michelle Obama, but all in all I am fully in line this up-to-date use of pop music. I am looking forward to upcoming updates from Michelle, which probably brings some more music.
