I decided to do a separate post for Benedict Cumberbatch at the UK premiere of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies last night in London. This post is for everybody else. Since The Hobbit franchise is overwhelmingly about boys and “things boys like” (no disrespect to the ladies that dig it, but even you have to admit that it’s a lot of Boy Drama), I thought we’d start with practically the only woman on the red carpet, Evangeline Lilly. I feel a little bit bad because the only time I write about Evangeline these days is when she’s at the premiere of a Hobbit movie. But she probably likes it that way. Evangeline wore this Reem Acra ball gown which is utterly appropriate and not all that noteworthy. Like, I think she looks pretty and she looks like she loves her dress. That’s what counts. But for fashion gossip, this is sort of a snooze.

Next, we have all of the boys (minus Benedict). I’m including photos of Sir Ian McKellen , Orlando Bloom (in Lanvin!), Richard Armitage, Lee Pace, Martin Freeman, Andy Serkis and Luke Evans. I’m sure I forgot some people and I’m sure someone will yell at me! I just went with the guys I recognized, so my bad if I forgot the 15th hobbit down the list or whatever. Of this group… I would want to have dinner with Sir Ian and go home with Lee Pace. I’ve never got the Luke Evans thing, Armitage looked exhausted at this premiere and I’m never been into Andy Serkis either. Orlando’s best years are behind him too – and his hair is now completely tragic. As for Freeman… I love him. Utterly and completely. But it’s not a sex thing, I just think he’s insanely talented.
