Tea Leoni is dating her onscreen husband, Tim Daly: cute couple?

2014 Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour - CBS, CW And Showtime Party
Here’s a nice story of two costars who fell for each other when they were both single. (See also: Lauren Graham and Peter Krause. And don’t tell me they’re not still together or my day will be ruined.) Tea Leoni, 48, and Tim Daly, 58, play a married couple on CBS’ Madam Secretary, and now they’re dating in real life. The best part of this story is that they were both divorced with two kids each when they met, and it’s also somewhat awesome that they’re around the same age too:

Tea Leoni’s leading man on-screen is now her leading man offscreen, too! As revealed exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly, the recently divorced Madam Secretary actress is dating her costar Tim Daly, who plays the husband of her character Elizabeth Faulkner McCord on the CBS political drama.

“Their chemistry on set is electrifying,” a source tells Us of Leoni, 48, and Daly, 58. “They have an amazing time filming.”
The fun continues off-camera, too. On Friday, Nov. 14, the duo were seen strolling down a street in L.A.’s Venice area “with their arms wrapped around each other,” a witness says, adding, “They were definitely couple-y.”

For his part, Private Practice alum Daly gushed about working with Leoni back in September, telling Collider they went to the same high school in Vermont, years apart. “She’s a person, like me and like a lot of people who have gone to that school…who can be perfectly happy sleeping in a wet sleeping bag on a stone floor, or staying in a fancy hotel,” he said of his costar.

“She’s not a whiner. She wants to work hard and she wants to have fun,” he added. “We get along really, really well. We have a really good time. I’ve gotten along with plenty of people, but the chemistry sucked. And I’ve hated people where the chemistry is great. It’s much better if you get along and the chemistry is good. That’s perfect.”

[From US Magazine]

That’s really sweet that Tim gushed about working with Tea. US Magazine points out that Tim has been divorced since 2010 and that Tea just finalized her divorce from David Duchovny four months ago. I doubt this burgeoning relationship had anything to do with Tea’s split – Tea and David first announced their separation in 2008 (after he went to rehab for sex addiction), and they reunited but then split up again in 2011. They may have had a another go-around after that although that’s difficult to google. The point is that both Tea and Tim were single when they hooked up. Tea also doesn’t seem to have any hard feelings for her ex, she told Parade Magazine a few months ago that “David gave me the two greatest gifts on the planet” (referring to their two kids, one of whom is literally named Kyd) and that “We’ve always loved each other, and we adore these kids.” Yay for amicable divorces and new love.

She is one of those that got prettier looking with age!

  2. TeresaMaria says:

They are so cute together! Ever since I started watching “Madam Secretary” I was always wondering whether they will hook up.

    • Pix says:

I know! They have such great on-screen chemistry. They both look so great and surprisingly natural for their age. No crazy botox or bad hair dye. My favorite new show on TV.

  3. minx says:

Very cute, but I guess I thought he was still married. Obviously not.

    • Angie says:

Being married never stopped (most) men from hooking up with someone else before…

      • minx says:

I meant going public, posing with someone, on the up-and-up. When I saw the headline I thought, wait, isn’t he married?

      • Sara says:

sigh why do we always have to make this a gender thing? who do you think “most” men cheat with? single women?

      • Angie says:

@ Sara – “Most” men will pretty much sleep with anyone that is willing to…in my opinion and based on what I’ve experienced in my personal life and I’ve seen in my immediate surroundings. This does not imply that “many” women don’t behave in the same manner…

    • RobN says:

He’s been divorced since 2010. I had never heard about it, either, so apparently it wasn’t a nasty grabfest.

      Yeah for mature people.

  4. Luca76 says:

They are cute and I see Morgan Freeman (aka God) approves.

  5. Kitten says:

    Super-cute. I love Tea.

They kind of look like siblings a little bit..

  6. OTHER RENEE says:

After staying with a serial cheater for way too long, I hope she has found someone who treats her right.

  7. someonestolemyname says:

Awwww they are so cute together, good matchup.
    Love her.

Now if David would just date Gillian Anderson for real, I’d be over the moon.

  8. Jaderu says:

I saw the pic with Morgan Freeman and scrolled back up and re-read the story in his voice. I’m very relaxed now.

    They look cute together.

    • Mari says:

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him a few times and each time I ask him to say my name back to me, it comes out like delicious syrup, “Maaari” 🙂 Love it.

      • Jaderu says:

The list of celebrities that I would actually want to meet is very short. Morgan Freeman is on the top of the list. Very jealous Mari!

  9. Mari says:

I’ve always found her to be beautiful and quite funny and he’s aged very well. Never would have put them together but I really like it!

    • JustPassingThrough says:

She’s always been a favorite of mine, too. I think she is beautiful and I loved her in Fun With Dick and Jane. 🙂

      • Hiddlesgirl85 says:

@JustPassingThrough: Tea was great in that film. As a matter of fact, Fun With Dick and Jane was a really funny film and good remake. Jim Carrey, Alec Baldwin, Richard Jenkins, and the rest of the cast were hilarius! That’s underrated comedy for sure.

      • JustPassingThrough says:

        I agree, Hiddlesgirl85. 🙂

  10. Jayna says:

OH, I love this because I love them both. Wings was a fantastic show and have loved him ever since. They do have great chemistry on the new show.

I watch The Family Man every year with Tea and Nic Cage in it. It’s always on TV and I get sucked back in to watching it around the holidays. She was great in Spanglish also.

    • launicaangelina says:

I’ve loved him since Wings and her since The Naked Truth. They are super cute together!

  11. Etheldreda says:

Around the same age? He’s a full ten years older than her. If the genders were reversed, nobody would say they were ‘around the same age’.

    • Jayna says:

I think they mean both in the mature stage of their lives, so close in age in that respect compared to many “mature” actors and who they date when single again. She’s close to 50. Many actors who are in their mid to late 50s are with women in their 30s to late 30s or just hitting their 40s.

      • Etheldreda says:

I see what you mean, and you’re right that a ten year age gap isn’t that significant for a couple in middle age. But still, if the woman was a full decade older than the man, I really don’t think anyone would say that they were ‘around the same age’. The age difference would certainly be considered worthy of discussion.

  12. GingerCrunch says:

YaY! Tea’s always been my girl crush and remember how cute he was on “Wings”? Adorable.

    • Esmom says:

I loved him on Wings, although my crushes went back and forth between him and the other guy whose name escapes me right now.

I can’t believe Daly is 58, he looks great. But different somehow, maybe thinner? And she really has gotten more beautiful.

  13. Tia says:

Daly is a bit bland to me, not as sexy as her ex husband. But maybe that’s the point.

  14. lassie says:

I would hit Tim Daly hard. Repeatedly. That is all.

  15. lucy2 says:

I couldn’t get into the show, but they both seem like nice people, so that’s great. Hope it all works out though, because that would be a little awkward at work if it didn’t!

  16. Zoe says:

Tim! Daly! I’m really into this pairing. I think she’s hilarious and everyone needs to get to YouTube and watch The Daly Show he does with his son, Max. I cry-laugh every time.

  17. Beckysuz says:

He is still good looking but something is different…he looks thinner maybe ? His face/chin is pointy in a way it wasn’t before, and he looks idk, slight? Perhaps it’s just how he’s aging but to me he looks the way someone does when they are sick and lose weight. Still a handsome man though, and she looks fantastic! So good for them

    • Esmom says:

I said something similar above. Something about his facial structure seems definitely different. It’s starting to freak me out.

      • Beckysuz says:

Yes I went and googled older pics of him, something weird is def going on in the face with him, a noticeable difference from even two years ago.

    • Kristen says:

I think something is different too – could be weight loss. Or maybe his teeth? idk. I love Tim Daly, but if the headline didn’t have his name in it, I would never have recognized him.

      • hmmm says:

My first thought about Tim was ‘facelift’. And new teeth. He just doesn’t look like himself.

  18. Tig says:

Yay for both! She is a terrific comedic actress- wish she got to do more of that.

  19. j.eyre says:

I tend to get excited about anything that has Tim Daly in it, even romantic liaisons so huzzah!

  20. maddelina says:

Her face appears to be full of botox or fillers. It looks uncomfortable.

  21. anon33 says:

LOVE LOVE LOVE Tim Daly!!! My first “real man” crush!! I was the only loser watching WINGS in high school!

  22. CK says:

Yay! Now if only Madame Secretary could be better. I find it to be “ok”, but as an opener for “The Good Wife”, it should be much better. Also, Am I the only one who did a double take after it was mentioned that the Daly relationship had nothing to affect her divorce from her sex addicted husband? Idk how I should feel because my reaction basically was “Well, her husband’s in rehab for sex addiction, she gets a lifetime of get out of jail free cards”.

  23. MickeyM says:

    Love these two together. Yay!
