Lindsay Lohan Arrested for DUI

Remember when I said that Lohan was about due to be arrested for DUI? I swear I said it just last week after hearing Lauren Hastings talk about how Lohan emptied her closet and then called her delusional when she asked where all her clothes and purses went:

If Lohan isn’t going to face the consequences for stealing, maybe she’ll be the next one of the do-nothing crowd to get nailed for DUI. She certainly seems to drive drunk enough.

Lohan was arrested for DUI at about 5:30 in the morning Saturday and cops mentioned in a press conference that there was a “useable amount” of cocaine found. (Most likely in her car, although they would not specify.) She was driving two other people in her Mercedes convertible when she careened into a tree on the side of the road in Beverly Hills. She left the scene after asking for help from a security guard at one of the nearby mansions and was driven to a hospital, where she was treated for some sort of injury to her chest. Her two friends were not hurt. Then cops came to tow her car away and apparently found cocaine in it. They went to the hospital and arrested Lohan for her long-overdue DUI charge:

Police tell TMZ that 20-year-old Lohan and two other adults were in her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 convertible when she lost control and crashed into a curb and trees in Beverly Hills around 5:30 AM. After the crash, police say LiLo got into another car and was driven to Century City Hospital where she was treated for minor injuries that involved “something to her upper chest area.” Police said the two other people in her car were not hurt.

Officers received a 911 call about the accident and “tracked Ms. Lohan to the local hospital, where she was ultimately placed under arrest” for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The best accounts of Lohan’s eventful evening come from the paparazzi’s blogs at Splash News and X17.

Here’s a recap of what happened to lead up to the accident, primarily from Splash but with some details from X17:

  • Lohan was out at La Deux nightclub with friends Friday night
  • She left to go to a house party in the Hollywood Hills from around 2:30 to 4:30 a.m.
  • When she left the house party, she seemed drunk-looking and pissed off. She was in a chauffer-driven SUV and jumped out of the car yelling “F*** you guys!” and ran down the street.
  • Another car driven by a “male friend” that was following her then picked her up.
  • She went to the Mondrian Hotel on the Sunset Strip and was begging the clerk for a room. (X17 says she went to the Sky Bar there, while Splash has her pleading for a place to crash)
  • When she was told there were absolutely no suites at any cost, she asked them to book her a room at another hotel, and then stormed out to return to her condo.
  • Samantha Ronson, one of Lohan’s rumored lovers, came out of the building, with Lohan following her and trying to get her to stay.
  • Then Lohan jumped in her car and drove it out of the front gate, and asked Samantha to get in.
  • Ronson refused to get into the car at first, but finally gave in and sat on someone’s lap.
  • Lohan drove west along Sunset Boulevard, lost control of her car and hit a tree on the side of the road.

Here are the details of the scene of the accident:

The crash took place in a plush area of Beverly Hills – just around the corner from Tom Cruise’s house and the new Beckham home.
An eyewitness said: “The front side of Linsay’s car had struck a palm tree on the corner of the street.
“The bumper, headlight and hood were completely smashed – it looked a real mess.
“Lindsay got out of the car straight away and ran to a nearby house. She seemed to be speaking to a security guard.
“Her driver then came along and moved the wrecked car out of the way before taking Lindsay home.”
Today, a spokesman for Beverly Hills Police confirmed that Lohan had been arrested for DUI.
“She was arrested for DUI this morning,” the spokesman said.
“She had been involved in a single vehicle traffic accident.
“Following the accident she was taken to a local hospital, where she received treatment for minor injuries.
“Investigating officers at the hospital placed her under arrest. She was then given a citation and a court date.”

[From Splash News]

Lohan was previously said to have feared a DUI arrest after she hit a paparrazo with her car in NY City on March 13 and promptly left the scene to go out to various clubs. Police never gave her a breathalyzer or brought her in that night, and just asked her some questions while she was out about what happened. The photographer is predictably suing her, although it’s unclear if he suffered more injuries than a bruised knee.

Lohan was involved in three car accidents in 2005, only one of which, a minor fender bender, was ruled her fault. In the other two instances a paparrazo hit her car, and she struck a van head on after it made an illegal u-turn.

There were different drivers and perhaps more sober friends around that night before Lindsay put her life and her friends’ lives at risk by driving wasted. She may have been headed to another hotel that was arranged for her by the staff at the Mondrian, or she may have been going to a friend’s house or something. She was driving upset, tired, and probably drunk. This is a clear case of someone who never should have been behind the wheel.

Will Lindsay finally clean up after this scandal? Is she the next drunk-driving young celebrity headed to jail? Remember Nicole Richie still faces time in the slammer, a mandatory 5 days, if convicted of her second DUI.

Maybe Lindsay, Nicole and Paris will all be spending some much-needed down time in that special needs housing unit in the LA County Regional Detention Center. They won’t be there together, though. Justice isn’t quick enough for that kind of coincidence.

These are random pictures of Lohan driving and are not pictures from the night in question. Pictures from Flynet and The Bosh.
