Taylor Swift covers the new issue of Billboard. At this point, she’s already said everything she needed to say to promote her album, so we’re just getting some very repetitive quotes now. You can read the full Billboard piece here, but if you’ve read her interview with Time Mag, Rolling Stone, Lucky or any of the other ones, you know what she’s talking about these days. Girlfriends, lady empowerment, big meanies judging her for her blind-item songs, etc. The Billboard piece actually serves as a victory lap, because it was conducted after Swifty’s album broke records and all of that. These were the only quotes I found interesting:
Whether “Shake It Off” is indicative of her new outlook on life: “This album is not about boys. It’s not about something trivial; it’s not about revenge or breakups. It’s about what my life looks like now. And that song is essentially written about an important lesson I learned that really changed how I live my life and how I look at my life. I really wanted it to be a song that made people want to get up and dance at a wedding reception from the first drum beat. But I also wanted it to be a song that could help someone get through something really terrible, if they wanted to focus on the emotional profile, on the lyrics. Because I’ve had people say things to me like, “When my mom died, I listened to this every single day to help me get out of bed.” And then I’ve had people say, “I danced to this drunk at a wedding reception.” If they want to forget about the lyrics, they can, but if they want to hang on every word, they can do that, too.
Her blind-item songs: “I’ve been dealing with it for so many years now that I expect the media to do it, I expect fans to do it. Human curiosity is never to be underestimated. But I don’t have anyone whose feelings are on the line except for me. If I was in love with someone right now, I don’t know how I would handle everyone else weighing in on our stories, because when you’re in a relationship there are a lot of secrets and a lot of sacred moments that you don’t want to divulge. I, however, am 24, perfectly happy being alone, and one of the reasons I’m perfectly happy being alone is that no one gets hurt this way.
“One of the reasons I’m perfectly happy being alone is that no one gets hurt this way…” I get that, in theory. But in practice… nope. First of all, 1989 is still about boys and love. Just because she’s digging into her dating archives for song ideas doesn’t mean that “no current boyfriend = an album not about boys.” Second of all, she IS dating. She’s still interested in romance.
Speaking of, there was some kind of controversy last week with Swifty’s dating life. Swifty and Karlie Kloss went to a NYC concert for The 1975. As you might remember, there are rumors that Swifty and The 1975’s frontman Matt Healy might be in the first blush of romance. And this was the second The 1975 concert she’s been to in as many weeks. So, there’s something there. But while at the concert, a fan took some photos of Swifty and Karlie where it really looks like they’re kissing – go here to see.
For what it’s worth, Taylor’s rep specifically denied the Karlie Kloss kissing stuff, saying the rumor of a romance was “hilarious” and “crap” apparently. For what it’s worth… I tend to think Swifty and Karlie are not a couple, secret or otherwise. I think they’re genuinely friends and they enjoy hanging out. Besides, I’d rather see Swifty with Selena Gomez! Selena needs to find another romantic focus other than singing depressing songs about Justin Bieber.

I dye my hair that colour some times, my hair is natural a dark blonde or light brown now. So I bleach it with garnier or feria bleach and then use a “medium ash blonde” (also garnier or loreal the other brands are too drying ) I think it looks natural because people don’t usually dye their hair that shade of blonde
I think that may actually be her natural hair color or close to it. She’s always been a honey blonde color. I think she has mentioned that she tints it, which doesn’t surprise me. A lot of blondes tend to color the roots, since their hair will naturally darken over time.

According to that Rolling Stone article, Karlie has her own bedroom in Taylor’s penthouse, complete with framed portraits of Karlie on the walls… But no, they don’t officially live together. 🙂

Taylor eats. She is constantly on the go, doing shows, and working out. All of that requires food for fuel. I bet she eats a lot of very healthy food that fuels her and keeps her looking fabulous. Same goes for Karlie.

I get the feeling that Swift loves that Kloss looks just like her. Fits her egocentric view of life. I just cannot bring myself to really like Taylor Swift because she really has a phony type of quality to her that I cannot pin down. Just very fake I think.
I think so, too. I think in Taylor’s head, it went like, “I look just like Karlie Kloss. Karlie Kloss is a supermodel. Ergo, I am a singing supermodel.”
I have no idea if she’s hooking up with Karllie or anyone, but she comes across as completely asexual to me, even as she writes about boys. Though I’m sure that’s a cultivated image. However, Lainey Gossip suggests she’s banging the 1975 dude, so I’m sure she’s not actually asexual, she just reminds me of my more more innocent, less sexual friends who brag about making out like it’s something super scandalous. Like, into their late 20s and 30s.
I get that impression too. Her persona just seems like it’s so fabricated for her benefit and for publicity.

I believe that Taylor is more straight than gay based on the Kinsey scale, but is open to sexual experimentation with women. However, a part of me thinks that there is a possibility she is a closeted lesbian who has been bearding for quite some time. I found the rumors that she and Karlie moved into together a bit odd. These are two successful millionaires. Why do they need to be roommates even if they are best friends? Can’t they just buy two penthouses in the same building? Sounds like these two could be more than just friends. I have never kissed my girlfriends the way these two are kissing in those photographs.
I agree but also think it’s fine if they live together. Hell, if I had their money, I’d probably have a special compound for all my girlfriends to get away from boyfriends and husbands. But Taylor is young and child free. And living with your bff at that age is especially fun, imo.
i agree. us mere folks cant imagine living in such big places, but the downsides of them it must feel very lonely to be there alone. in a regular apartment it feels more normal to be the only person present.

Why are Taylor and Selena still in the same conversation? Yes, they are the same age, they’ve occasionally been friends and they sing, but Taylor is going higher and higher and Selena is stuck with Bieber.
Romantically and professionally Taylor is out of Selena’s league. And I mean romantically as in Taylor had different complications in romance but she always twisted them to her advantage, whereas Selena always came out bruised and uninspired by her one and true Bieberish romance.
Because not long ago they were inseperable. BFFs that did everything together like Taylor and Karlie. It’s a behavior pattern. Not speaking of careers at all. That’s why.
And I disagree. Romantically Selena and Taylor are on the same page. Both have messy break ups with douchy types. Both write songs airing their dirty laundry. Taylor has cleaner breaks where selena keeps returning, but still. Taylor’s romantic life is a joke and has been literally that for some time now.
I don’t think they’re actually kissing in the photos, but there’s definitely something there. They’re all over each other every time they’re photographed, and Taylor usually strikes me as asexual.

I think you’re right in that there is something ‘there’. Although I don’t think it is romantic, it seems like a very comfortable friendship.
They actually remind me of two female friends I had in college. Both are straight, but when they lived together they would sleep in the same bed often, cuddle on the couch, they were okay going to the bathroom in front of each other. Just super close and comfortable with one another. Some female friendships border on ‘relationship’ territory without being romantic. I feel like this is probably one of those situations.
Has she ever written songs about friends who are girls (or boys, not just boyfriends)? Just wondering, since she seems closer in her friendships to people than she ever has in her romantic relationships.
I’m surprised the guy from The1975 is into her music. I have no idea why I’m surprised though. Her music isn’t terrible, but maybe I thought he was some hipster type who wouldn’t deign to admit he listen to Swift’s music (even in secret like the rest of us).

Taylor is very full of herself, so i can totally see finding a woman who looks a lot like her and has the same bodyshape as very attractive. quite a few celeb couples look alike because lots of celebs are in love with themselves.
the only thing that surprises me is that Pr mastermind Taylor would do that in public. she is so controlled. that makes me think its just a photo taken in movement when nothing serious happened and they just want to tell us they were kissing. happens so often, i remember Johnny Depp going in for a hug with his publicist and it was sold like they were making out in the open in bright daylight.

She’s straight. Ok, I don’t actually know that. But I feel it in my bones. Straight, straight, straight, straight, straight.
I’m all for ladies experimenting and finding that they love each other, so if it’s true I would be so cool with it. I don’t even like Taylor but I am so down for lady love that is cheer for DAAAAAYS. (It’s been a long semester. Sometimes you just need to escape. Even if it’s through Karlie and Taylor alleged romances)
Good for her if they are together. She’s young and should enjoy every moment of her life and success. I think those two are a much hotter couple than any of her past boyfriends were. And who knows? Maybe she would be happier with Karlie. It could just be good old fashioned bi-curious experimentation on her part though being in her Twenties and I don’t see anything wrong with that either. But of course she’s going to deny, deny, deny. Just own up to it if it’s true. But then maybe she’s afraid it would alienate her fanbase?
Oh my goodness. I actually like this new version of her from interviews, but I wish she’d practice what she preaches. On this album of 13 songs, only three are not about boys. That’s still an album about boys. And this is unrelated but I want to get all my griping out because I SO want to like her, I hate how she constantly complains about people trying to guess at her blind item songs, and compares herself to Ed Sheeran/Bruno Mars. The thing is, they don’t do the kind of stuff she does; she sings about paper plane necklaces and put things like Hyannis Port and Maple Lattes in the notes, WHAT does she expect? She could just as easily not do those things and write lyrics that are a bit more broad.
It doesn’t matter, it just doesn’t matter at all whether they’re just friends or more than friends.
I know her songs have left her open to speculations about her romantic life but this photo being analysed so much is a little icky. Whatever the dynamics of their relationship, they seem to genuinely like hanging out which is nice to see.
“This album is not about boys.” I love 1989, but, yes, honey, it definitely is about boys. The only songs that are not about love and boys and breakups are Welcome to New York, Shake It Off, and Bad Blood.
I think she just means that there are songs about boys on the album, but the album itself is not all about boys like Speak Now and Red were as in guys and love are not the main focus.
Maybe what she meant is the songs on her new album aren’t about a specific boy/man, just guys in general.

I’m amazed at how much material she got out of her ‘relationship’ with Harry Styles, considering a generous estimate would be that they spent maybe a month actually together in the same places. When she actually has a real relationship one day we’re gonna get a 20 disc box set to commemorate their first year together.

She’s 24. At what point do “boys” become men? It seems rather juvenile to me that that’s how she refers to the adult men that she dates/would potentially date. Perhaps if she started to frame her potential romantic interests as adults rather than kids, she might have a more mature relationship than what’s she found so far.
On the other hand, when Gawker published this same story about Taylor kissing Karlie, the comments thread was hilarious, and a number of people posted more pictures of Taylor and Karlie, not kissing, but definitely in positions that could be construed as more romantic than platonic. Either way, whatever makes her happy.
It would make sense if she’s gay. She’s an almost 25yr old woman who consistently dates men who are rumoured to be gay (and the odd teenager here and there), and as far as I can tell she’s never had a proper long-term relationship or even spent more than a couple of weeks with a guy without a long break afterwards. Sure, she’s busy, but I can’t actually think of another famous woman around her age who hasn’t managed at least one long-term-ish relationship. It would be one thing if she was presenting herself as not interested in a relationship, but from day one she’s been all about boys and love. So it’s odd.
I haven’t had a long term relationship since I was 21. I’m not in my 20’s anymore. I don’t talk about men, I don’t date men. I’ve worked at the same company for over 5 years. I don’t talk about men and I don’t date men. Everyone who knows me, knows this.

I kind of like Taylor swift BECAUSE she seems a bit, ahem, *off*. I like to listen to her music in the car, but I can deny it because I have a pre-teen daughter and can therefore blame it on her:). I also have this guilty pleasure of irresponsibly diagnosing the more “fun-crazy” celebrities with personality disorders. I say Borderline Personality disorder. Last time I heard, Karlie Kloss had a long term boyfriend, some big money business type. They were pretty serious too. That seems like a bigger impetus to all this than whether or not Taylor is maybe/no way/possibly straight.
My vote is that they are going through the college stage of best friends where roomies sounds like a good idea and road trips and getting dressed for every big night together. Honestly, in my experience, that phase does have a close resemblance to a romantic relationship. It’s a fine line that I don’t understand why people see the need to expect clarification on.

On TMZ the pool was split. The ladies all thought they were either doing it as a goof for the cameras, but more likely were trying to hear what the other was saying.
On another note, Kloss’s brunette choppy hair was (imo) what set her apart from the other VS models. Now I can’t tell which one she is.

Echoing what others said- female friendship in the early 20s can resemble romance, in that you are so close and spend so much time together that it really is like being in love, just without sex. I think that’s what they are- makes sense that since neither went to college, they’re in that stage now.
As for the photo- I think they were trying to be heard during a loud concert, and the blurry video just caught a weird angle.
