Is Angelina Jolie ‘fuming’ over Amy Pascal’s ‘betrayal’ in the hacked emails?

wenn21961429

These are some Angelina Jolie-related stories making the rounds. Angelina really has gone radio-silent since her chicken pox diagnosis last week, so the tabloids are having fun and Angelina’s friends are speaking on her behalf. Let’s start with a tabloid story! We’ve had major email leaks from the Sony Hack about Angelina’s Cleopatra project. I think, at the end of the day, Angelina comes out of the email hack looking professional and detail-oriented while Scott Rudin looks like a jackhole and Amy Pascal looks weak. Star Magazine claims in this week’s issue that Angelina is pretty much done with Pascal – they were once close friends, but Angie’s pissed and she’s going to hold the grudge for a while.

Angelina was “fuming” over the emails, an insider says. But as “rude and tasteless” as she found Rudin’s words, it was Pascal’s silence that angered her more. The two women had been quite close in the past – with Pascal bringing Angelina on board to star in the hit film ‘Salt’ – and that made the executive’s lack of support feel all the more like a betrayal.

“It was a slap in the face, because Amy was somebody Angelina allowed into her world,” the insider explains. “Angie is used to being scrutinized but this was much worse. She’s the type of person who will banish someone from her life if they disrespect her. And so, in Angie’s eyes, Pascal isn’t worth her time anymore.”

[From Star Magazine, print edition]

I know it’s Star, but I kind of believe this. You can tell from the emails between Angelina and Amy Pascal that they were close and that Angelina believed she had Pascal’s support. Pascal’s silence in the emails to Scott Rudin when he’s calling Angelina a “spoiled brat” and worse must have put a significant strain on Angie and Amy’s relationship, if not broken it entirely.

Meanwhile, did you know that Chris Martin wrote a song for the closing credits of Unbroken?! How in the world did that happen? Well, Chris tried to jokingly explain how it happened to Vulture. He jokes that Navy SEALs kidnapped him and brought him to Angelina and Brad and they ordered him to write a song for the movie. Go here to read – it’s total dad humor. When did Chris Martin become this dorky dad? And why did Angelina choose Coldplay for the final-credits song?!

Why is there ALWAYS a story of Angie fuming..

what about the other celebs. Goodness

    • mimif says:

Maybe Amy will bake her a cake and all will be unbroken.

      • lisa2 says:

I saw a story about that picture of them at the Hollywood Reporter event.. that they did in fact hug each other warmly.. but this picture was not posted.

Not surprised. It has become some not so hidden agenda to paint Angie as a weak woman that is emotionally out of control. When in fact that is not who she is.

      • Kiddo says:

@mimif, No maleficent thoughts at the office, all are still friends. They can all keep their Jobs.

      • mimif says:

@KidoO, but rumor has it that horrible bosses enraged with fury catches more blood & honey these days.

P.S. Quit making my brain work, it’s going all world war Z on me.

      • doofus says:

holy moly, you guys are good! hahahahaha….

*flings self on bed, screaming in sympathy and left over angst about not being invited to KiddO’s super-duper pajama kitty tea party, also, burying face in pillows to escape smells emanating from other posters (multitasking)*

    • Brodie says:

Why is there always a story of Angie, period??

  2. The Original G says:

……..because she didn’t always know that Rudin was selfish baby and Pascal was his soother?

    • RocketMerry says:

      Precisely, thank you.
Also, I’m sorry, but this is such a non-story. It happens all the time in most offices: you write polite, carefully worded emails to the client/outside receiver of the email (and usually the receiver responds with the same tone) and then you write petty, explicit and sometimes rude emails to colleagues about what he/she wanted or claimed. I highly doubt that Angelina Jolie would be angered by it (irritated that some of it got out in the open, maybe; but not “furious” on a personal level); we all know that this sort of behaviour is common everywhere, I can imagine it happens even more frequently in HW. Non-story.

      • Yeah, I don’t buy that she and Pascal were super friendly, up close, and personal friends. Angelina probably liked Pascal, respected her as a woman who had to do twice as much as a man to get to where she was–I’d buy that they were work friends. As in Angelina MIGHT try and bring projects to Pascal, but not that they were besties.

And I doubt that anything from Hollywood surprises her, which is why she, Brad, and any number of other celebrities don’t have a lot of Hollywood ‘family’.

      • allheavens says:

        @RocketMerry

No, that would get you fired at my corp. You keep it professional 24/7 or find a new job. You want to get pissy about clients or co-workers bitch to your family, never to a co-worker and especially not in a company or any e-mail.

Pascal was dumb, those e-mails could have come back to haunt her even without the hack. Just stupid and unprofessional.

  3. Jayna says:

It’s Star. It has been reported that Amy has Angie’s support.

    • really says:

Those “reports ” of “support” are no more accurate than these “reports”. NEVER believe anything about Brad or Angie unless it comes from their own mouths on video. I’ve never seen more lies about told about anybody EVER. Not only do people (especially PR beholden media ) lie & lie about them, they constantly drop their names in order to get attention for themselves. It’s been a decade of slander & lies and Brad & Angie have proven to have tons more class & dignity than 99.9% of the insecure Hollywood PR-addicts & their paid media lackeys. At least Brad & Angie have found better things to do with their millions than feed it to liars and spin doctors.

  4. minx says:

First, I really doubt AJ is confiding in anyone who would speak to the Star.
But I know I would be fuming and would probably cut Pascal off. Who wouldn’t?
    She can’t win.

    • Kim1 says:

According to Star Magazine Angie has NO friends so who are their sources, the gerbils? Knox?

    • Kiki04 says:

I thought the new report was that they were all supporting Pascal, mainly because there were some emails that included Brad being really childish about Fury (like threatening to not promote the movie). Hence the atleast public support for her job.

      • lisa2 says:

        “public support”?

Neither Brad nor Angie have said anything about Amy Pascal that says “public support”

    • Tiffany :) says:

I agree, Minx. Star’s MO is to speculate then publish.

  5. kendra says:

Angelina has been in this game along time. This is her job and like most jobs you have back stabbing people, you thought were friends. In the real world you have to learn to shake it off , continue to do your job and consider it a lesson learned. If Angelina has not learned how the game is played by now, she needs to stay home , be a housewife and raise her children.

    • Kimble says:

If you think that backstabbing etc doesn’t occur among housewives and mothers, you are very mistaken. School mums are the scariest bitches I ever met!

  6. GoOnGirl! says:

My take on Amy Pascal: I would be cordial, but as a friend, no, no and no. Amy comes across as very weak and basically threw Angie under the bus.

    • lrm says:

oh, Amy is IMO the opposite of weak; she has to placate multiple sides at any given time-she’s diplomatic and politically savvy. So she ends up appearing weak but it’s really passive agressive and she holds no singular alliance, b/c she can’t. Or, her current alliance could change at any given moment based on what business requires. She would not get to the position she is in if she were ‘weak’.
She may be lame to a lot of people, but she’s playing the game much as a politician does with his constituents and colleagues. Sort of say yes to everyone, say no to no one, semantics, etc.

Also, she didn’t throw AJ under a bus-she just didn’t defend her. But Rudin is the one who talked sh*t about her. Amy didn’t reply to those comments directly. And Rudin is a known temper guy. She’s probably used to his fanatically, extreme reactions to everyone and everything-when it doesn’t go his way. He’s like a toddler, but a smart toddler who she does need to placate in order to make/close deals and, you know, make money for The Sony. That’s the whole reason any of these people are here-to make money-including AJ. Otherwise, she could do smaller indie or low budget movies or another type of art that doesn’t pay all that well. This way, she funds her lifestyle so she can also give exposure to charities and situations that are important to her.

      • noway says:

I agree with this. I think to be in charge and a woman at a major motion picture studio takes a bit of finesse, and you end up sounding like an as*((*( just to have the producers talk to you. I don’t like the racist comments, and that bothers me a lot, but the others not so much. My problem with getting rid of her would be there are so few women in charge and we give the men second and third chances, why not the women. I think Angelina knows that too, and people just want the girl fight. If I was Denzel I would be more pissed, but I think he has been around long enough and knew this score before the rest of us. I think he makes the best of the situation.

      • BNA FAN says:

IMO Amy came off as very weak. She could have defended Angelina by just stopping SR in his tracks with the name calling and disrespecting of Angelina, by saying let’s be professional about this, no more name calling. Let’s stay focus on the topic. Now they both came off as wimps, And Angelina came off as very professional.

      • @noway
That’s why I think that IF Angelina is supporting Pascal in not getting fired, that would be the reason why. I don’t know, one way or another if Pascal should be fired, but it’s sucky to think that when TWO people–a man and a woman–were emailing each other racist jokes over their work emails, that it’s the woman that would get fired.

      • Gia says:

“Also, she didn’t throw AJ under a bus-she just didn’t defend her.”
        Same thing.

    • lower-case deb says:

she’s seen the underside of the bus enough times (even by her own dad), she’s practically a mechanic by now.

but to last this long in this business, i think she must have known.

      • Tiffany :) says:

“she’s seen the underside of the bus enough times … she’s practically a mechanic by now.”

        Great phrase!

    • BNA FAN says:

I don’t believe Angelina and Amy were close friends. I believe they were business “friends”. I believe AJ thought she could count on Amy P having her back in business. IMO, Angie been in this game a long time and know there are few people she can trust.

Anyone noticed Brad and Angelina only had about 20 people at their wedding, they know they are only people they can trust and it’s their family. Angie says she does not have many friends because she knows the business she’s in is a cut throat business, everyone is only looking out for #1. The bottom line is, Angie came off very professional and passionate in her emails. Unbroken is about forgiveness and I’m hoping Angie will let this be a lesson to her, meet face to face and less emailing.

  7. RobN says:

It’s weird when there’s somebody at work, any work, that you think supports you, and it turns out they don’t. I can’t see why this situation is much different. I’d be fuming; I think most people would.

  8. lunchcoma says:

This is one where Star didn’t need to have (and probably didn’t have) a source. Of course Angelina’s unhappy. I don’t think she was completely misled about who either of these people were, but actually seeing things in writing is a bit different.

I’m guessing she’s also feeling a little smug, because she comes off considerably better than either Rubin or Pascal.

  9. SpookySpooks says:

Chris Martin was always very funny.

    • lisa2 says:

I actually like him.. and I like that he is more out and about now. He does seem to have a fun personality. Something I didn’t see when he and Paltrow were married. I always thought he was a stick in the mud for some reason.

I think he is cute too.

    • mimif says:

      Funny looking.

      • nicegirl says:

mimif you are cracking me up today, what with this and your as you wish comments, hilarious. Many thanks!

  10. Andrea1 says:

Wasn’t expecting anything different from star.

  11. doofus says:

    of course she’s “fuming”…

…and Brad is running crying from the room. DUH.

  12. Jem says:

I doubt Jolie is upset about this “betrayal”. She’s a veteran in the business and probably understands this is all part of the game…
I think if anything, she’s upset because her long-time passion project, the Cleopatra film – rumored to be her “last” starring role – is now being openly sh*t-talked and dissected (should it be made? how should it be made? is Angelina too old? it’s nothing but a vanity project… Etc)…
From the email leaks, it’s obvious she’s extremely passionate about the Cleo film and if I were her, I’d be more incensed about the sh*t talking about her MOVIE than anything said against her directly. I’d say she’s probably bullet-proof to personal judgement/criticism by now.

  13. Miss M says:

From the many lessons Angelina learnt from Zamperini , one was to forgive, non?!

  14. kendra says:

My hope for Angelina and her family is that , she continue to seek the higher power Zamperini relied on in his life. Getting to know God will help you though any storms life throws your way and sometimes God put people in your life for a reason.. I feel he put Zamperini in Angelina’s life for this reason. I hope so.

    • Brittney B says:

Eh, I’ve always admired them for precisely the opposite: they derive their strength and morality from real experiences and care about real human suffering instead. They respect religion and faith, and the redeeming impact that both can have, but they know better than to align themselves with any particular theism or deity. That’s why Unbroken treats religion the way it does, and why Zamperini’s family was totally on board with it. It’s why she exposes her kids to all religions. (She also has seen the devastating effects that religion can have, if you’re not open-minded enough to embrace other belief systems…)

Brad on religion: “When I got untethered from the comfort of religion, it wasn’t a loss of faith for me, it was a discovery of self. I had faith that I’m capable enough to handle any situation. There’s peace in understanding that I have only one life, here and now, and I’m responsible.”

Angie on religion: “I respect all religions. What I don’t respect is when people use religion to attack others. I’ve met people across the world, in the middle of nowhere, who are just trying to survive and all they have is religion. In some way it helps them, and I wouldn’t take it away from them. There are also people who use it to hate and kill. I don’t consider them religious people”

It’s also worth noting that Brad’s parents are the kinds of Christians who use the Bible to justify discrimination and bigotry. He’s had bad experiences with it, and I’m sure Louie showed them not all Christians are like that.

      • lisa2 says:

Wow that is kind of harsh about Brad’s parents. They have 5 grandchildren are different races. It seems they love them very much and are good grandparents to them. Saying they are bigots or that they support such is not fair when you don’t know them personally.

      • Gia says:

I thought they had 6 grandchildren? I agree with Brittney B about Brad’s parents. I don’t see anything harsh in what she said. And I don’t think she was talking about race, but about gay rights. Who could forget that letter Jane Pitt sent to the Missouri newspaper about supporting a politician who was against gay marriage? A bigot or homophobe can be nice and loving but at the same time holding homophobic and Bible-inspired views. Jane is probably very nice, but that still doesn’t change the fact that she has anti-progressive views when it comes to homosexuality.

      • Artemis says:

Did you forget about Jane PItt’s open letter? Anti same sex marriage, abortion and she used Obama full name and we all know why she would do that as a conservative.

      • lisa2 says:

        @Gia..

Brad and Angie have 3 adopted children of different races than they are
Brad sister has 2 adopted children of different races.. I have never been to their church so I don’t know what they preach.

and regarding Jane’s letter many people don’t believe in gay marriages. Doesn’t make them haters of homosexuals.

  15. Samtha says:

    Chris Martin/Coldplay because he’s Gwyneth’s ex–and Gwyneth is Brad’s ex. 😉

  16. Sullivan says:

Jolie ended-up looking like a consummate professional. As a professional, she knows how the industry works. I doubt she’s “fuming.” Still… I want to see a photo of a Jolie and Rudin encounter.

    • pwal says:

She sure did. Maybe she should go to the other HW studios and lead a seminar about how to write emails in a professional setting, since these numnuts don’t have a clue. Of course, she would’ve been labeled fill in the blank, by lazy know it all mugs determined to do things their way versus the right way.

Anyone who has worked in a professional business environment know that the correspondence should be detached, especially if it’s in regards to a highly charged issue/subject because of the potential of them being presented in a legal proceeding, regardless of the nature of the business.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Angelina was schooled on this by the UNHCR, since her articles/statements are usually addressing conditions in volatile areas of the world.

  17. Sister Carrie says:

    OT
I think Amy’s nips are approaching Aniston levels of prominence. Every frontal picture I’ve seen in the last few days shows her wearing some sheer-like black clingy shirt with nips out. As the owner of aggressive nips myself, I would sympathize with her, except wearing a bra would probably take care of this.

  18. Bread and Circuses says:

The media just loooooves to manufacture girl-on-girl fights, doesn’t it?

If Jolie has put anyone on her Dead-To-Me list, it’s Rudin, not Pascal.

    • lisa2 says:

I really hope she doesn’t work with him in the future in any way shape or form.

My fingers are crossed on that one.
