Well that made me tear up. Well done Brian McKnight.

  2. MOT says:

Had to listen to it myself to confirm…yes..goosebumps. A well sung national anthem really gets to ya!

  3. Jaderu says:

I usually get a chill whenever I hear the National Anthem, but wow. That was beautiful.

Am I the only one that finds Lainey’s hate boner for Leo DiCaprio hilarious?

    • Mia4S says:

The hate is even funnier because Lainey used to LOVE DiCaprio. Someday when I’m bored I must go back and see when the shift happened. I mean, the modelizing with girls young enough to be his daughter is not new. It can’t just be that can it?

      • noway says:

Let’s be fair now he is only 40, although lately it looks like a hard 40, but I think the young enough to be his daughter is a bit new, unless he has been going underage or had kids at 15. Maybe Lainey think it is time he stops with the shampoo, rinse and repeat.

    • Abbott says:

I love all of Lainey’s hate boners: Leo, Lively, Marky Mark. She’s gotten especially crusty the last couple years and it warms my cold, dead heart.

“Brian McKnight sang the National Anthem this weekend & now everyone loves him again.”

I never stopped loving him! His music is in heavy rotation on all my devices. Did he do something ridiculous that I’m unaware of?

    • Kosmos says:

I’ve always loved him, too, but if there was ever any question as to whether he could sing perfect notes without backup singers or backup music, let that be dispelled. I think he proved himself here !!!! In fact, I respect him even more than before after hearing him hit every note perfectly, and adding a little R&B just made it for me. Let me say, however, that I really don’t like the National Anthem song any more. I’d like it if they could come up with a revised National Anthem, something less about Rockets red glare and killing, more about Peace in the world, because we should really strive for Peace between all countries.

    • jaye says:

check this version out. It’s him singing with his sons. http://youtu.be/7x9OUt6SLz4

    • Venuslotus says:

I listen to him still. “Stay or let it go” is my favorite…wait no, “find myself in you”..gah so many!

    • tifzlan says:

To answer your last question, he did make a song called Let Me Show You How Your P**** Works and it was….. ridiculous, to put it lightly. But yes, his voice is divine otherwise.

EDIT: Nevermind, i just realized that was a Funny or Die skit, so i guess no! He hasn’t done anything ridiculous!

    • TQB says:

      NEVER STOPPED!!

  5. Mariah McKnight says:

I wonder if I’m related to him …

  6. Mariah McKnight says:

He’s legit such a good singer woah

  7. GingerCrunch says:

YESSSSS!!! We saw this live and I had to remind everybody about him. And we were floored. Then we you-tubed “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind?”. HEAVEN!

  8. greenmonster says:

I’m not even American and I had goosebumps.

    • jaye says:

You don’t have to be American to appreciate good sangin’. That’s right, I said sangin’. He wasn’t singing, he was SANGIN’.

  9. mandygirl says:

I do like the name Harper, but not sure having it paired up with the last name Hammer. Harper Hammer doesn’t sound really great IMO. Celebrities really seem to like that name.

  10. ellesbelles says:

Brian McKnight should be in charge of singing everything. Commercial jingles, national anthems, boring university lectures. All would be made better with Brian McKnight

Back at one makes my panties drop. Just putting that out there

  11. Kimble says:

Awesome! I do wish more people in the stadium would sing though – nothing better than 10’s of thousands of people joining in!

  12. InVain says:

I was so happy to see him when they announced….and then when he sang…like WHOA. He was amazing and didn’t do anything ridicilous with the song. Got goosebumps watching it live too!! What an incredible voice.

  13. Christo says:

No, the guy who is credited for creating the jingle for YouPorn (look it up) doesn’t exactly seem like the right candidate for the position…so to speak.

    • jaye says:

I mentioned something about this upthread. I’m sure very few people were aware of that. His affiliation with a porn site prompted a hard side eye from me, but it doesn’t negate the fact that the man can sing his face off.

  14. Tiffany says:

I know there are some sport bitches here on the site so I want to say RIP Stuart Scott.

Cancer really is a C U Next Tuesday. I try not to throw that word around at all, but it is.

    • Mel M says:

I was shocked when I read it yesterday! So young, a great guy, cool as the other side of the pillow.

    • GingerCrunch says:

      +1…It really is.

    • PunkyMomma says:

Thank you for remembering Stuart Scott. RIP -you fought the good fight Boo-Yah!

      • LolaB says:

I didn’t even realize he was sick. Stuart Scott was a funny dude with great style. He will be missed.

    • Rhiley says:

Oh yeah. What a talented, intelligent, caring, brave man. It is hard to listen to the National Anthem being sung at an NFL game and not tear up thinking about him. He will be greatly missed. Booyah!

    • LeAnn Stinks says:

      Very sad news indeed.

  15. mememe says:

I actually thought it sounded a little rushed…. but he hit the notes veautufully.

  16. Stephanie says:

I saw Downton Abbey last night and I thought it was incredible! Every character had something happen. It was very engaging and enjoyable. Superb acting and Julian Fellowes was on his writing game with this script! Well done!

  17. Tig says:

Scott will be greatly missed- he was a great talent. And yes, this was the best live rendition of the NA I’ve heard in the last five years easily- and that’s ALOT of ball games! Wish they would sign him up for the Super Bowl! OT- the best “non-traditional”- for lack of a better word- is Marvin Gaye’s version at one of the NBA finals from ages ago- what a voice!

  18. Jayna says:

Now, that’s singing the National Anthem. Wow.

  19. Mauibound says:

While the Whitney version is still tops in my book, he killed it!

  20. Tiffany says:

Cameron D is getting married tonight. I am surprised. The Madden boys have said they both want kids. I can’t imagine the other one besides Nicole ‘ s husband shutting that down.
    Hmmm…interesting.

  21. lisa2 says:

Oh my oh my oh my.. that was inspirational.

This and Whitney’s version are not my top two..

I have listened to it 4 times.. make that 5..

  22. Louise177 says:

You know that you did a good National anthem when people start cheering halfway through. It’s funny but Brian didn’t do anything. He just sang great. I think with all of the vocal gymnastics and background music for most renditions something so simple is refreshing.
