Julianne Moore in Dolce & Gabbana at the NBR Awards: lovely or not cute?

The National Board of Review Awards were held last night in NYC. I covered the announcement of the winners back in December – go here to see. As I said at the time, the NBR really wanted Brangelina to show up, but Brad and Angelina didn’t come. Perhaps they’re preparing for a significant snub when the Oscar nominations come out next week, so they’re already making other plans for the rest of the awards season.

But! Lots of other people did come out. Like Julianne Moore and her husband Bart Freundlich. I’ve gotten a weird vibe off of them lately, but he’s sticking by her throughout the awards season, so here’s hoping that they continue to be an awesome couple. Julianne wore Dolce & Gabbana last night. Considering her consistently bad red carpet style, I almost like this. It’s not actively awful.

Jessica Chastain picked up an award as well, and she wore this Alexander McQueen look. Ugh with the peplum. That’s one trend that I’m glad we’ve pretty much seen the end of. Peplums were everywhere three years ago but they seem to be dying out. Chastain is one of the holdouts. I just don’t see why her waist needs a dust ruffle, you guys. Oh, and with the white shoes? Very bridal. In a bad way.

I’m also including photos of Oscar Isaac, Michael Keaton, Common, Selma director Ava DuVernay and David Oyelowo.

Not. cute. But hello Oscar Isaac!
Also, Keaton is wearing the sh-t out of that suit. Wait, do I see satin?

  2. Charlie says:

She looks awful. Isn’t her husband younger than she is? He looks much older.

Jessica looks amazing, minus the shoes.

julianne is so pretty. great skin and she looks tiny.

  4. Joy says:

Jessica’s face is so pretty but the material of that dress is giving me maxi pad vibes.

Doesn’t Ms.Moore have a stylist who can dress her? She is dressing bad theses days. Expensive designer clothes doesn’t always mean they are beautiful. Michael Keaton looks good, odd pose but ok.

JM’s dress is making me want to dance flamenco with all the flowers and lace.
JC looks Kardashian sausage stuffed into that Sarah Burton (that IS NOT McQueen!)
Everyone else is looks very nice.
DO clearly raided Batch’s closet. 😉

  7. Blythe says:

That looks like an American Apparel bodysuit underneath a fancy skirt. I love the dress though.

  8. Ashley says:

    Ava Duvernay is so pretty!

  9. RobN says:

What I always wonder is whether somebody tries on a dress like that and thinks, yep, that’s the one! Or is it just a case of not caring and wearing whatever your stylist comes home with? Moore is so pretty, there are just so many choices out there and you pick the flower dress.

I’m only here for Common and David Oyelowo, even though their pics are TINY. Whew they are fine!

The men all look fab. JM’s dress..I’m of two minds on it. Cause it’s two dresses sewn together. See that? Okay, I’m going. No need to call Security.

  12. serena says:

God, it is awful. Why can’t Julianne Moore dress properly? I just want to punch her stylist in the face, does she/he hate her? Cause that seems to be the case.

  13. Tig says:

Well, this dress is a wonderful improvement over the frock she wore to Palm Springs. And Jessica’s dress really washes get out. Just saw the trailer for A most(very?) violent year- very plus/minus- maybe just a bad trailer?
