2015 Golden Globes Open Post: Hosted by an American Citizen

FFN_KM_PalmSpringsFF_010315_51617260

It wasn’t until I really looked through our photos of Reese Witherspoon over the past three months that I really began to realize just how photographed she’s been throughout her Oscar campaign. I mean, in December, she barely went a day without being photographed. Even in paparazzi photos with her kids, she was always smiling and looking pleasant. Like a woman who would never, ever drunkenly mouth-off to a police officer. Don’t you know who she is? She’s an AMERICAN CITIZEN!!

Anyway, Reese is our hostess for this evening’s 2015 Golden Globes Awards Open Post. We chose her because she’s probably not going to win anything, even though she’s seriously been campaigning harder than nearly anyone else (exceptions: Jennifer Aniston and Benedict Cumberbatch). And I didn’t want to use Bendy or Aniston because… well, I’m kind of sick of them already, plus we’re going to have plenty to talk about tomorrow anyway. Both Bendy and Aniston will present at the Globes. Reese will too, as will Amy Adms, Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Ricky Gervais (uh-oh), Salma Hayek, Clive Owen (YES), Lupita Nyong’o, Vince Vaughn (what?), Oprah, Colin Firth, Katie Holmes (what?), Jennifer Lopez, Meryl Streep, and many more – you can see the list here.

We also chose Reese because… hey, she deserves something, right? So much hustle. The narrative was supposed to be all about her “comeback” and her focus on making interesting films with interesting lead roles for women. Feminism, etc. The narrative was supposed to be “Hollywood has forgiven Reese for her drunken arrest and welcomed her back with open arms.” And then Julianne Moore stole some of the Best Actress Thunder. Then Jennifer Aniston stole the rest of the Thunder. And so here’s our poor American Citizen, on American Ground.

We’ll be tweeting and posting comments in this Open Post this evening, then we’ll have full Globes coverage tomorrow, starting bright and early. My Twitter is here, KaiseratCB. Bedhead’s Twitter is here. Celebitchy’s Twitter is here.

Thank you, Amelia. It was rough over there. Come back more often!!

        I shall tryyyyyy my hardest!
I’ll be messing about at a news desk tomorrow morning, so I shall join you all for Globes analysis whilst the journalists bicker with each other.
In the meantime, don’t get too sozzled you lovely lot xx

    • vauvert says:

Ugh. Will read your comments and see the pics tomorrow. Finished some cooking and baking, off to watch The Librarians which my kid loves. Fantasy, just a different kind:-)

  2. Charlie says:

Rosamund’s hair and makeup are perfection, but her dress is awful. It does nothing for her figure.
Eddie and his wife look great.
E! people look like E! people usually look.

    • mimif says:

I don’t care for the dress, but damn she looks amazing considering she had a baby like 5 hours ago.

    • bettyrose says:

Ugh @ “just had a baby last month and is killing it tonight.”

      • mimif says:

        Pass the chardonnay, bettyrose. 😀

      • bettyrose says:

LMAO! We must have been typing at the same second. Yeah, she looks amazing, but that comment gave me total sympathy for anyone else who’s just had a baby.

      • Charlie says:

Yeah she had a baby and looks great, but that still doesn’t mean that dress looks good on her. I don’t get your comments.

      • bettyrose says:

Oops, started unintentional drama. the tv announcer (whoever it was) commented that she’s “killing it” for someone who gave birth a month ago. I’ve never been pregnant, but I’m not crazy about the media ideal of getting your pre-pregnancy body back so quickly. No disrespect intended to the lovely Rosamund.

      • mimif says:

Annnd we have our first crime scene of the evening. *rolls out police tape* 😀

      • Charlie says:

Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you were saying it to me.

    • Lilacflowers says:

I agree: Rosamund’s hair and make-up on her already gorgeous face was perfection but that dress, no. Not even on somebody who hadn’t had a baby just weeks ago.

Eddie Redmayne – all the velvet.

      • lucy2 says:

Agreed – her hair and makeup were SO GOOD, but the dress was dreadful. So awkward and ill fitting.

    • lunchcoma says:

Yeah, that’s just not an attractive dress. It wouldn’t be an attractive dress on anyone, I suspect.

  3. Kiddo says:

    Ricky Gervais, yay!

  4. Abby says:

    Looking forward to it!

  5. Dani2 says:

Rosamund Pike looks SO good. She was the highlight of Gone Girl for me so I wouldn’t mind seeing her win over Julianne.

  6. Kaiser says:

I wasn’t into Rosamund’s Vera Wang, but from the neck up, she looked great.

  7. Abbott says:

I thought for sure Reese would’ve been the most obnoxious campaigner. I was so so wrong.

I don’t know if I’m more excited to see the Klooneys or the Cumberbun in the oven.

  8. bettyrose says:

Maura Tierney FTW. Everyone else can go. I’ve been girl-crushing on her since News Radio. She’s still got it.

    • Bridget says:

I re-watched ER when I was at home when my older son was born, and I forgot how great she was on it.

      • bettyrose says:

So great. OMG, the love triangle with Goran Vijnic and Noah Wylie . . . dying just from the memory of it.

      • Charlie says:

Maura Tierney and Goran Višnjić had such amazing chemistry. I wish they could do another show together.

      • Elizabeth R says:

Count me in on that front – that love triangle was well-done and yes, Maura & Goran had some serious chemistry. Now I have to go re-watch ER – I was such a die-hard fan.

    • lucy2 says:

I didn’t see her on TV but just looked it up – she looks gorgeous!

  9. QQ says:

The fact those ding dongs at E Put eddie Redmayne on Hold to talk about Their crappyclothes amongst themselves?!?

Also Leah Dunham continues to pretty up til we forget about her book

  10. Bridget says:

I love Naomi Watts dress and that necklace.

And someone needs to tell Giuliana Rancic that blonde is NOT her color.

    • bettyrose says:

Claire Danes could use that memo also. I love Laura Prepon with black hair. She was great as a redhead, too, but I hated her blonde period.

      • Bridget says:

Laura Prepon looks cheap as a blond. Claire Danes doesn’t bug me as much… if her hair gets too dark it washes her out.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Claire Danes looks fine as blonde , it’s her natural colouring , she is a blonde.
Guiliana’s colouring doesn’t work going full out bleached blonde. She should stick with a few highlights.

    • LeAnn Stinks says:

I love Naomi Watts as well. Most of the time she dresses well and always looks real purty.

  11. Dani2 says:

Liev and Naomi look so good and I’m pretty sure Amy Adams has worn at least five variations of this exact look, so boring.

    • Bridget says:

Amy’s been nominated for so many awards that we’ve seen just about every dress possible on her at least a few times. One of the drawbacks of success.

  12. Charlie says:

Amy Adams looks amazing and God, does Lana del Rey look awful.
    Dakota Johnson looks nice.
    Chrissy Tiegen looks awful.
    Lorde look great!

    • mimif says:

Embarrassed to admit that I love Dakota’s look. *runs to my balloon*

    • cr says:

I like the color of Chrissy’s dress, the actual dress needs to be burned.

    • LeAnn Stinks says:

      Glad I missed Lana Douche.

I cannot believe any of her yawn fest songs was even nominated for anything. She tries to be a female Chris Isaak and fails miserably, imho. Chris Isaak is great and sexy, while Lana is unoriginal, uninspiring and had her career and looks bought for her by her daddy.

  13. QQ says:

Zosia Mamet’s dress has to be Trolling us

  14. mimif says:

Pretty sure I wore Lana del Lizzy Grant’s whole ensemble last time I went to Vegas. On Halloween. In 1976.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

That was you? Remember how embarrassing it was that we had the same costume?

      • Kiddo says:

And the same date: Jack Nicholson. I just looked it up and he was being awarded for One flew over the Cuckoos Nest. That Explains EVERYTHING.

  15. Dani2 says:

Lana looks like she’s supposed to be at prom and Lorde looks about 40 (although she still looks good to me, just overly mature looking as usual).

  16. Abbott says:

What’s the “thigh gap” for arm pits? Because Rancic has it. That concave armpit is so distracting and alarming.

    • Bridget says:

Can we acknowledge that her dress looks baggy on top? I’ve actually had Rancic comments not make it past moderation.

    • moodgirl says:

Rancic reminds of the girls at the gossip table in high school. It’s her job but she is too excited and fan girlish.

  17. Abbott says:

    We want Amal!
    We want Amal!
    We want Amal!

  18. tifzlan says:

I love Diane Kruger’s dress. Who is the person in the black and silver dress with thigh high slits, blonde? Coz wow, that dress.

  19. Lilacflowers says:

Matt Bomer is just too pretty.

    • tifzlan says:

I always confuse Bomer with Cavill. I thought that was Cavill!

    • LeAnn Stinks says:

I had the good fortune to meet him while “White Collar” was filming its last season in NYC. His trailer was parked in front of my building for the whole week. I can confirm he is just as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside..and he is gorgeous. Those eyes in person in the sunlight, good lord.

  20. lunchcoma says:

Lena Dunham actually looks kind of normal. Possibly budget prom, but not over the top weird. I’m surprised.

    • Bridget says:

Thank you, I couldn’t put my finger on why she looked kind of off. It’s the ‘budget’ aspect. That satin wouldn’t look good on anyone.

    • littlestar says:

She looks good tonight, for her, but I think her problem is that nothing every fits her properly in the breast area. Someone needs to get her a proper fitting bra already.

    • LeAnn Stinks says:

She said Zac Posen made her dress and used to babysit for her. I didn’t know if she was trying to be facetious or serious.

      • LAK says:

She was serious. Don’t know if it’s true, but it’s one of those things frequently repeated since she became famous.

      • lunchcoma says:

LAK is right, it’s the truth. That being said, while I sometimes like Posen’s designs, he often does a disservice to her. In this case, the fitting around the bust was very unfortunate.

  21. Lilacflowers says:

Does Lena Dunham have welts on her arm?

  22. Lilacflowers says:

    Diana Kruger is absolute perfection.

  23. Lilacflowers says:

Emily Blunt’s earrings! I NEED them!

  24. **sighs** says:

Did Chastain get a boob job or is that massive tape job?

  25. lunchcoma says:

Oh, man, what’s with these weird necklines and the awful illusion netting? Sienna Miller’s dress is a mess.

  26. moodgirl says:

I don’t see the big deal about Jessica Chastain, she borrowed her dress from my nana’s closet. Lena Dunham reminds me of my car mechanic.

  27. Dani2 says:

Emily Blunt is my fave so far. Stunner.

  28. QQ says:

    Ellie Kemper’s Dress Yall!!*swoon*

Sienna Miller: Lots of Work for an ultimately Fug Dress

Allison Williams dress was really pretty and delicate

Jessica Chastain gets out of the amalgamation of bland redheads amyislaadamsfisher By Virtue if that VA VAVOOM DRESS

Ruth Wilson is such a let down

    • tifzlan says:

Agree on Ruth Wilson, that dress was hideous 🙁

But i love me some Alice Morgan, so i’m letting it pass.

  29. Kaiser says:

So far, my favorites are Amy Adams and Jessica Chastain. What world is this?!

  30. Lilacflowers says:

Michael Keaton and Jake Gyllenhaal, I’m dead.

  31. Gg says:

Did Ryan Seacrest forget to take his uppers?

  32. Lilacflowers says:

    Wow! Julianne Moore looks great.

  33. Abbott says:

So many beautiful gingers on the carpet tonight.

  34. Gg says:

They just flashed Keira Knightley… Little house on the prairie goes preggo hollywood

  35. Lilacflowers says:

Has Julianna Marguilies ever not looked gorgeous?

  36. Abbott says:

Cancel the rest of the interviews! The Klooneys have hit the carpet!

  37. nimbolicious says:

Emma Stone. Movie star dress, edgy hair. Love her. And great in “Birdman.”

  38. Gg says:

Amal taking cues from Angelina and sticking to black on the red carpet

    • lisa2 says:

not sure how she is “sticking to black” what other RCs has she been on. I think the huge build up to her 1st RC with him as a married couple has been a bit of a let down. I saw a few comments saying that she and George looked distant.

but she could have been nervous.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

There’s a lot of beard jokes on Twitter. They did look distant.

The dress is pretty but I just didn’t care for the hanging hair , black dress, opera gloves…looks costume like on her …but Other than that Dior’s design is lovely.

    • muggsby says:

UH..Angelina’s last 3 red carpets she’s worn white or a patterned white…b4 that for Mal she wore colors and neutrals. So your misguided attempt at snark falls flat if you’re pulling things outcha-azz.

  39. Kiddo says:

    Keira Knightly: sister-wife clown top.

  40. nimbolicious says:

I want to be Helen Mirren when I grow up. Lady in red. And she just said fries are her favorite food. No kale for the goddess…..

  41. moodgirl says:

Jennifer Lopez is always half naked. Cover those puppies for once in your life.

  42. Abbott says:

I feel like JLo wears the same dress every time. Big hair, too tight sparkly dress. We get it: you don’t age.

    • Yes! Or nude, tight dresses. I remember being very embarrassed for her when she was presenting that shitty Jason Statham movie when Ben Affleck was up for “Argo”….he’s grown so much professionally, while she’s still going around in tight/sparkly/nude/see-through outfits, doing the same old, same old. She seems to work way too hard at being sexy–and not just her diet or work out.

  43. Kiddo says:

Where’s Taterho? I actually like Mrs Dense Potato’s yellow dress.

  44. Lilacflowers says:

    Channing Potato!

  45. nimbolicious says:

Eddie Redmayne’s wife hasn’t learned the drill yet. Looks like she walked out of the shower, put on a vomit-colored dress and walked out the door without bothering with hair, makeup or jewelry. has a lot of potential, though.

    • Charlie says:

I think she looks stunning. I love the colour of the dress with her colouring, I LOVE that she has no jewellery. Her hair could be better.

    • Bridget says:

He’s so stylish, and yet that’s the dress that jumped out at her. That is a truly unfortunate color. I’ll be polite and call it “army green”

    • icerose says:

I like the simplicity in the way she dresses and it is refreshing to see someone who does not feel the need to compete.

  46. lunchcoma says:

Well, Kate Hudson is certainly looking single. Are there any rock stars at this event? (No, Adam Levine doesn’t count.)

  47. Bridget says:

Salma Hayek is married to the guy who’s company controls some of the best fashion houses, and that’s what she chooses to wear?!? That is terrible.

  48. Kiddo says:

Amal looks like she’s smelling something foul. Oh, I see Seacrest gave them toilet sign tees, it must be bathroom stinks.

  49. lunchcoma says:

Amal looks lovely, but obviously doesn’t know how to stand for the camera so that her face can get in the shot with Ryan. You see them having to move around angles to fit her in. Which is fine. She’ll learn.

  50. mia girl says:

Amal has SUCH a sparkling personality!!

  51. nimbolicious says:

Mark Ruffalo: I want to marry him.
Adam Levine: Seems like the same d-bag he played in Begin Again. Plugging another stupid single on the red carpet. IDGAFOS….
Matthew McC: Looks like he shaved off his pubes and put ’em on his face. Not likin’ the look.

    • Jayna says:

Nooooo. I’m first in line. I remember watching him in that movie with Meg Ryan years ago, where he played a cop, and there was frontal nudity with him. I’m not ashamed to say I rewound that scene over and over. LOL

If anyone on here hasn’t seen his HBO movie on the AIDS crisis, The Normal Heart, you need to catch it. Mark Ruffalo was amazing in it, as were other actors like Matt Bomer and Taylor Kitsch.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

He was so hot in that Meg Ryan film.

      • “Into The Cut”

*fans self* I’m with you Jayna……and in the spirit of celebitchiness, I’m gonna pretend to be a Stepford wife for a few hours, while you console yourself with Liam Neeson, over Mark Ruffalo not winning….

*Also–I never really realized, until recently, just how sexy Ruffalo is. He’s normal, every day sexy…..lol.

      • icerose says:

The scenes between Ruffalo and Meg in Into the Cut were amazing and I kike his intergrity.

  52. Jayna says:

I just caught a glimpse of Salma Hayek’s gown. Stunning. I love it and it looks beautiful on her.

  53. mia girl says:

Did no one like Julianne Moore’s dress? I think it is her best yet this award season.

    • Imqrious2 says:

I loved her look…just gorgeous. She doesn’t always hit it out of the park,(hell, she sometimes doesn’t even get to first base!), but tonight she was perfect.

  54. Katenotkatie says:

There’s so much going on, I can’t deal. Lorde looks faaaab, as does Sienna Miller (that bob!!) and Emily Blunt. Steve Carrell and his wife are so adorable. I don’t begrudge Keira her prairie nightgown because she’s pregnant and probably super tired and uncomfortable- although I can’t believe that E! ran her off stage to make way for JLo!

Amal’s white gloves. I’m dead. I’m getting a weird Speed Racer vibe.

    • dpatz says:

those gloves look ill fitted – ugh should have left them home!

    • Those gloves are TRAGIC. I don’t really like her look, especially since she’s doing an affected slouch. She’s swamped in fabric….if it had been more fitted, and she added some jewels (PONY UP, GEORGE!) or gold or SOMETHING to offset the “Black Widow Clooney” look….it would’ve been better.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

I didn’t like the way she put herself together either. The Doir is a lovely dress, but she seems swamped by it and her gloves look so loose.
Wow she is getting super thin.
        She looks costumey.
        Would have preferred no gloves.

  55. Ruth Dunbar says:

The Batch has landed, alone and with no mention of marriage and impending fatherhood (at least on NBC).

    THANK YOU JESUS.

  56. Jayna says:

Is Cake even out? They keep talking about Jen’s performance, but I’ve never seen the movie even advertised or anywhere to watch.

    She looks very pretty tonight.

  57. moodgirl says:

Just saw Benedict, his bow tie is crooked but he looks good.

    • Kiki04 says:

Saw him talking with Lauer, i’m pretty sure he ended up summarizing Turing’s entire wikipedia bio in 30 seconds. Someone REALLY really wants this…….

  58. nimbolicious says:

Nice change of pace for Jen’s hair. I like the messy bun and the the sparkly halter dress.

    • **sighs** says:

      She looks good

      • LeAnn Stinks says:

I usually really dig her style, especially her causal looks. But the top that dress is making her look a little like an NFL linebacker.

Speaking of which, since my Giants are long out of the race, sorry Peyton lost, but tickled pink Aaron Rodgers and the boys took out the Cowboys.

    • Lilacflowers says:

She’s a serious actress now so she has to wear her hair up at awards shows

    • lucy2 says:

I like her dress. I don’t think hair up like that suits her, but it’s good to mix it up now and then.

    • Bridget says:

I love those earrings, and it’s nice to see her change up the hair.

    • ES says:

I loved Jen’s bun too. The Friends hair has gotten old.

  59. Jayna says:

Man, I guess I’ve missed most of the celebs you guys are talking about. Are you on NBC or E?

  60. lunchcoma says:

Oh, Reese is so thirsty, bringing Cheryl Strayed, the real life inspiration for her movie. Worth noting that the Strayed was both better-dressed and a better sport than some of the actors have been.

  61. Kiddo says:

JEN ANISTON the greatest actress of our time has arrived!
Lupita looks like a delicate lily pond. Lovely. I like her hair.

  62. Freshmeat says:

Benedict still looked slightly frightened/stressed. Even by himself. Hopefully he has a few and lets loose a bit.

    ETA: Oh not alone…enough said.

  63. Kiki04 says:

Is it just me or is there SO much more movie plugging this year around on NBC’s red carpet show? I feel like they usually focus on the movies and clothes, but everyone they talk to (cough JLo cough) is schilling a new movie instead……..

  64. Jayna says:

Come on, Jennifer. Bring Casper back out of the closet. We all know you are still seeing him and aren’t alone. Jennifer Lopez looks beautiful. It’s who she is, showing the boobs and legs. I’m cool with it.

  65. Lilacflowers says:

Did Jennifer Anniston have to grab Kate Hudson’s butt?

    • M.A.F. says:

Yes. Come on. 😉 Reese did it right before (I was watching E!).

    • Someonestolemyname says:

Kate Hudson is stunning, her body is slamming. I think the other actresses can’t resist. LOL Showing admiration with a squeeze. 🙂

  66. truthSF says:

WTF is up with Kate Hudson’s face? And damn Jennifer Aniston’s shoulders and arms are huge, did she always have very broad shoulders?

    • dpatz says:

She’s added weight in general but think that is the angle – in pictures she looks like her trim self…

      • Imqrious2 says:

I thought her face was “off”, too. Then I saw it: if you look at her profile, (esp. On the RC E! Interview) the contour used on her jawline wasn’t blended into her neck. It made her face look almost misshapened front on.

    • I don’t like her dress…not because it’s black, but because it makes her look very thick. I hate belts that squeeze your stomach under them. She’s not fat at all, but it makes her look like she’s trying to suck it in or something….is Justin with her?

  67. Lilacflowers says:

Floral! Sophie is wearing florals! Pour me an absinthe!

    • lunchcoma says:

I need something for my eyestrain. I rolled them too far.

    • Abbott says:

I keep missing her! Goddamn comet…

    • moodgirl says:

Notice he was the one of the few who didn’t interview with his partner by his side? Maybe she couldn’t make it up the steps. Kevin Spacey was with Kate Mara even though he killed her on their show.

      • MtnRunner says:

Perhaps he’s trying to play down the pregnancy. You know they would have been congratulated if she had been standing there with him.

      • icerose says:

I stared to write a comment and an advert of Benny photo bombing with a packet of adverts flashed across my consciousness.
Definitely got to put that bottle of Grand Marnier away.

  68. Becks says:

Kate Hudson looks amazing! Her body is insane.

  69. ncboudicca says:

Another dress with pockets, Sophie? Oy,

  70. Lilacflowers says:

E just interrupted the interview with Benedic Cumberbatch so Guilianna could do a tequila shot with the Clooneys.

  71. tifzlan says:

Lupita is bringing tears to my eyes

  72. Jayna says:

Viola’s color gown is stunning against her skin.

  73. OSTONE says:

Amy Adams looks beautiful! I wonder if it was awkward to be interviewed by Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie..

  74. nimbolicious says:

Kate Hudson looks flawless. (And I love her workout wear line.)

  75. nimbolicious says:

I want Bill Murray’s hat and bow tie.

  76. truthSF says:

Alan Cumming in a full peach outfit is EVERYTHING!! Everyone else go home!

  77. nimbolicious says:

Why do I get the feeling that Catherine Zeta Jones is actually way older than her “official” age of 45?

  78. Abbott says:

I’ll say it: Sophie looks pretty with her hair up like that.

    • Charlie says:

      But her dress is awful.

      • ES says:

I like her dress but it is with it with pockets again, lol. Where does she find them? Or the pockets custom made?

    • moodgirl says:

      She combed it?!

    • Bridget says:

That’s only because you don’t see her true evil nature shining through – don’t forget that hussy trapped the otter with her pregnancy! You can see her flaunting that bump all over the place.

I finally checked out one of the otter’s posts. Those Cumberfans are very, very invested.

  79. Charlie says:

Lupita’s dress is awful. Her hair and makeup though – perfection.

  80. Reece says:

Woman in giant pink fur behind Rancic?!?

ETA: I just got home so I’ve missed everyone.

  81. Kiddo says:

Julianna RansiWhatsherface is a mess. She reminds me of a baby bird that tried to fly but fell out of the nest too soon.

    • littlestar says:

She is so unnaturally thin that I find her painful to look at. That woman needs help (no snark from me, I truly think she has a serious problem).

      • Elizabeth R says:

I was wondering who was going to mention this. It seems painfully obvious that she has a very, very serious problem, and I truly, sincerely hope she gets the help she needs. No shade, no shaming. Just genuine concern.

  82. mia girl says:

    I’m liking Melissa McCarthy’s look

  83. ellesbelles says:

I liked Sophies dress and hair situation. I still don’t like her. *runs away*

  84. lucy2 says:

Helen Mirren looks amazing. I don’t understand Kerry Washington’s. Kate Beckinsale’s dress is pretty but her hair looked odd on TV, like a croissant on her head. Taylor Shilling looks like her dress is choking her. Uzo looks great, as does Heigl. Reese’s dress is pretty but it seemed like she was wearing too much makeup.
My worst dress is tied right now, Claire Danes and Rosamunde.
My favorite might be Anna Kendrick or Amy Adams. Or Christine Baranski.

Katie Holmes dress is pretty but must have wrinkled in the car. Lupita’s is pretty and fun. She is too gorgeous.

  85. Jayna says:

Matthew McConaughey seems out of sorts tonight.

  86. lunchcoma says:

Oh dear, the 50 Shades commercial.

  87. Jayna says:

I can’t see Amy Adams playing Janis Joplin at all. I thought it was a rumor, but she pretty much confirmed it.

  88. Kiddo says:

Fifty Shades of Grey promo looks like shite.

    • Abbott says:

Which is why I’m going to see it.

    • moodgirl says:

Jamie Dornan says he is afraid that a deranged fan will murder him over the movie. If anyone kills him it will be a studio executive because the movie looks like a total waste of money.

    • littlestar says:

Won’t lie – I think it looks goooooood! What is wrong with me? I F’ing hated those books (yes, I read all of them). Jamie Dornan is hot. That is all.

      • Kiddo says:

He is, but the commercials are flat, like a BAD romcom.

      • littlestar–I saw the full trailer for that shit show when I went to see Unbroken WITH MY DAD. OMFG. I wanted to curl up in a hole and DIE. It was so freaking awkward.

        @Kiddo
The biggest issue is Dakota. She is monotone throughout the whole thing, and her sighs/moans sound like she’s bored and faking it….

      • mimif says:

*hold littlestar and pops her a Benadryl*

      • littlestar says:

100% agree on Dakota – flat and dull, so she’ll probably make a GREAT Anastasia haha. I noticed when I was watching the red carpet preshow that she seemed so uncomfortable and out of place.

Virg, my parents and sister are coming up to see us Valentines Day weekend, I’m hoping my mom and sis want to see 50 Shades with me and make it a girls night out lol. Stuff like that is SO mortifying with fathers around!

      • littlestar says:

mimif – I’ve been sick for two weeks, no drugs seem to be working for me. I think you’re going to have to throw the “serious” stuff at me!!

  89. dpatz says:

jamie dornan’s wife looks great… the hair – i covet.

  90. Jayna says:

    I missed Amal and George.

  91. Jayna says:

    These two women inspire me.

  92. moodgirl says:

    Oprah is there with Steadman!

  93. smee says:

Tina, wtf do you have on?
    Amy looks gorgeous.

  94. bettyrose says:

Does Amy Poehler have boob makeup that gives her the impression of having implants? That’s freakin’ hilarious.

  95. lunchcoma says:

Emma Stone is a good sport. Joaquin Phoenix had that coming. Wes Anderson is dressed exactly like someone who’d arrive on a bicycle made of tuba parts. George is easy to pick on.

    • Charlie says:

What did the say about Emma nad Joaquin?

      • lunchcoma says:

Emma was referred to as a Big Eyes painting who appeared there in person, and she made faces and macked for the camera. They announced that Joaquin wasn’t there tonight because he thought awards shows were bullshit – and then the camera cut to him.

    • M.A.F. says:

Anderson is probably going to have the tuba bike in his next film.

      • lunchcoma says:

His next movie will probably be set inside a tuba bicycle. I’ll probably still find it delightful.

    • Lucy2 says:

The bicycle out of antique tuba parts line killed me.

  96. bettyrose says:

ZING! Tina Fey NAILED it with the Amal/George joke.

  97. Abbott says:

That Bill Cosby joke was it.

    • Little Darling says:

It and everything. Omg my mouth dropped and then I started clapping. Thank GOODNESS and on national live TV baby!!!!

  98. Jayna says:

    Tina and Amy forever.

  99. ellesbelles says:

Oh my god the cosby jokes!

  100. Ellen says:

UM did jen aniston just basically show her entire cooch?!

  101. Flora says:

    My dress top 5:

    1. Kate Beckinsale
    2. Anna Kendrick
    3. Helen Mirren/Viola Davis
    4. Amy Adams
    5. Reece Witherspoon

  102. lunchcoma says:

Ooh, JK Simmons snarked at Miles Teller.

  103. **sighs** says:

    See miles? That’s class.

  104. mia girl says:

@Kiddo – did you faint from the Aniston / Batch combination?

  105. tifzlan says:

DOWNTOWN ABBEY OVER UZO MOTHER FREAKIN ADUBA ARE U KIDDING ME

    • tifzlan says:

Although i must say the acceptance speech was lovely. Especially given the whole Cosby thing right now.

    • Jayna says:

I was rooting for Uzo, but I am okay with Joanne winning. Joanne does an incredible job on Downton Abbey and had a great story line this season.

  106. Lilacflowers says:

JK Simmons just spanked Miles Teller!

  107. Jayna says:

I love her in Downton Abbey. She is wonderful in it. I’m happy for her.

  108. Charlie says:

    I’m so happy for Joanne.

  109. Jayna says:

I didn’t see Amal and George on the red carpet, but she does look beautiful sitting there with the black gown and red lipstick.

    • jane16 says:

I went through the dresses on e, and could not believe how many boring and/or ugly dresses there were tonight. The three women’s dresses that I thought looked really nice were Mirren, Hayak and Amal. And I loved the gloves. great touch.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

Gloves made Amal look costumey…that gorgeous Dior didn’t need white prom gloves.

      • jane16 says:

Really? The Dior gown is amazing for sure, but I think the gloves are a charming accessory and really set off the dress. Also, the black and white keep the ensemble from looking morticia-ish. I love black and white. Very classy. Amal, you nailed it for your first GG. One of the best dressed, and attractive women there.

      • jane16 says:

btw, I think Hayak is an insufferable bitch, but I thought she looked great in her dress. Was rating these women on their appearance tonight, not what I think of them as people.

  110. Jayna says:

    Mark Ruffalo must win.

    Edit. He was robbed.

  111. littlestar says:

Why does Jeremy Renner seem so awkward and greasy presenting? Get it together man!

    • MtnRunner says:

I was not impressed with him tonight. Maybe he’s been at the bar a little too long.

    • Jedi says:

He looked blasted drunk. seriously man, wait until after you have to get on stage to down the bottle of vodka.

    • LeAnn Stinks says:

Must be the stress of all the blinds about his marriage crumbling and potential custody fight.

  112. Lilacflowers says:

Great Billy Bob Thornton speech because what was there to say after Renner’s Globes comment?

  113. Jayna says:

I can’t get past Mark Ruffalo not winning for The Normal Heart. I’m crushed for him.

  114. MediaMaven says:

Kevin Spacey is wearing a wiglet from the John Travolta Hair Collection, available now in the Scientology LA Celebrity Center gift shop.

  115. Jayna says:

    Kerry Washington is so beautiful.

    • Olenna says:

Yes, and her dress is gorgeous.

      • Janet says:

That dress was a mess. It would have been really pretty if it had been only one color, but the second color distracted from the general line and didn’t do anything for it. But she looked good.

      • Olenna says:

@Janet, I knew most people would pan it (gosh, I really miss Joan Rivers–she would have had a field day with it) but, oddly, I like the structure and pattern–there’s something futuristic and a early Asian about it. The shoes su*k, though.

  116. bettyrose says:

So many facial expressions were like ‘Yeah, I hate terrorism. But these shoes hurt, do I really have to stand up?”

  117. Kiki04 says:

Colin Firth……..sigh. Just give him all the awards for just being Colin Firth.

  118. mia girl says:

Did Cumberbatch photobomb again, reprising one of his most charming moves??

  119. Abbott says:

Did Cumberbatch change jackets? And then change back? Am I imagining this or is he gearing up for a song and dance number (hopefully featuring a tummy slide across the stage like a baby seal)?

  120. Jayna says:

I want Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to host it one year.

  121. tifzlan says:

I’m so glad none of you were here to listen to the primal scream i just let out for Gina Rodriguez YES YES YES SO MUCH YES

    • lunchcoma says:

I don’t even watch the show, but it was so nice to see someone who didn’t really seem to expect to win, especially given how happen she was.

      • tifzlan says:

I am a huge fan of the show, it really is great and i did not expect her to win at all but i am SO SO SO happy she did because she deserves it. She really truly does.

    • **sighs** says:

      That was awesome

      • tifzlan says:

It was! It really was! And her speech was so wonderful. There are so many great speeches tonight, hers and Common’s and the lady who created Transparent and Joanne Froggatt’s all great speeches

    • MisJes says:

I’m just so happy that both Lena and that awful, pretentious piece of shit Girls got shut down. Yes!

    • truthSF says:

I’m not watching, but damn it if i’m not ecstatic about Gina’s win. I’m the #1 JTV fan. #Jane&Raphaelforever

      • tifzlan says:

Sharing that JTV throne with you. I tell everyone i know to watch it and give it a chance but everyone always brushes it off because it’s a CW show. WELL MORE FOR ME/US THEN! #RogelioMyBrogelio

    • Tifygodess24 says:

Omg yes! I am so excited Gina won !! I never actually watch the award shows for the awards – I watch for the dresses and hair ☺️ But I was rooting for her and genuinely happy she won. She is such a great actress and the show really is a such a breath of fresh air , unlike anything really out there. I look forward to it every week. So glad a new episode is on tomorrow night!!! Congrats Gina!

  122. mia girl says:

    Gina Rodriguez!! Yes.

  123. Primrose Path says:

Cumberbun sighting – check, awkward award presentation – check, wardrobe change – check, photobomb – check — man, I think I’ll go ahead and take my Ambien and call it an early night, we’re just about done here already!

  124. M.A.F. says:

    Prince!

  125. MtnRunner says:

Prince has the ‘fro on the go…

  126. Tiffany says:

Prince is EVERYTHING!!!!! And the audience knows it.

  127. ReturnoftheMac says:

Only Prince can make a room full of celebrities go apeshit when he walks on stage! ☺️

    • Someonestolemyname says:

      +1000
      Lol 🙂
      So true.

    • Ncboudicca says:

Prince is a bigger STAR than anyone in that room, and I’m not saying that to diss anyone there.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

I always wonder what MJ would have been like if he befriended Prince during Thriller years and later, maybe he would have let go of all the craziness.
I know MJ was very impressed with and had total respect for Prince.

  128. Jayna says:

John Legend is in my top five of favorite performers. Good for him.

Common is a hunk of burning love. Could that man be any more sexy?

  129. tifzlan says:

Can we TALK about Common’s speech PLEASE

  130. Kiki04 says:

Honest to God, my mom just texted me to ask when Prince went blind. I’m now off to explain to her why he was wearing sunglasses and a sparkly cane………

  131. Blythe says:

I need the camerapeople to pull up on the True Detective table.

  132. Jayna says:

My heart is broken. Matt Bomer gets a Golden Globe and did an awesome job, but Mark Ruffalo didn’t get one for lead.

  133. Jayna says:

    Ricky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  134. lunchcoma says:

Wow, Ricky Gervais and his booze glass and all those glasses he presumably had before he went up there…

And Amy Adams doesn’t have speech and is just gushing. Though I kind of like the general thrust of her speech if she’d had something put together ahead of time.

  135. Jayna says:

Amy is pure glamour tonight in that gown. The color on her is breathtaking.

  136. Nimbolicious says:

    Ricky Gervais. Hysterical.

    • **sighs** says:

I wish he’d host again. He’s the best.

    • ES says:

He was. And just how drunk he was ?
I was wondering did he really forget about opening the envelop or was it scripted?
Or being drunk was scripted too? That is why he had a glass of wine with him?

    • Jayna says:

I love him. I still watch that skit he did on his show Life’s Too Short with Liam Neeson on Youtube and crack up every single time watching Liam saying he wants to do improv on stage as a new career, and Ricky’s comebacks and facial expressions are priceless.

    • Kiki04 says:

I hope they bring him back. He’s so funny, I don’t care if he offends half of the people in that room 🙂

  137. Nimbolicious says:

Amy Adams is the next Meryl. And I really do think she can pull off Janis Joplin.

    • Nikki says:

But Meryl actually gives entertaining speeches…

    • Someonestolemyname says:

Care Blanchette is the next Meryl Streep. ..
..but I DO think Amy Adam’s is extremely talented , deserves an Oscar and will rock the house as Janis. Amy has an amazing voice, great range, I just watched the Disney movie she did again, the woman can sing.
She can play gritty very well, I’ll never forget that porch fight in the FIGHTER, lol. She was so gutter.

  138. Tiffany says:

Just how small is Kevin Hart if Salma Hayak has a few inches on him.

  139. Jayna says:

Salma’s gown is the most stunning of the night. I love everything about it, the texture, the cut, the color. And she is a knockout in it.

  140. Nimbolicious says:

Kate Hudson made me realize I need to go back to Bar Method…..

  141. MtnRunner says:

    Patricia!! Loved her in Boyhood.

  142. Abbott says:

Linklater looks like Haley Joel Osmont, yes? Man, this show is dragging. Tina and Amy need to come back.

  143. eribra says:

Patricia Arquette I love so much and she just made me cry with her acceptance speech. So glad she won!

  144. Nimbolicious says:

Kirsten Wiig needs to lay off the orange spray tan.

  145. Abbott says:

Maybe it’s because this show is dragging and Kiddo and Mimif have abandoned me, but I think I like Kristen Wiig’s look.

  146. lunchcoma says:

I could have done without seeing the North Korean representative again. It was amusing the first time. This time around, it was a little more obvious that the joke character speaking broken English was one of the few people of Asian heritage in the room.

  147. **sighs** says:

I hope this doesn’t sound weird, but I am loving all the Latino/Hispanic love going on here at these awards.

  148. MtnRunner says:

    Jane Fonda looks fab!

  149. Jayna says:

Jane Fonda, unbelievable. She is 77 years old and is wow in that gown. What a figure. And she looks stunning but not overdone plastic-surgerywise.

    • MtnRunner says:

She’s the American Helen Mirren. Wowza.

    • ES says:

Yes, Jane Fonda rocks. I know many people don’t like her over politics, but the woman looks 30 years younger and got a powerful personality.

      • Janet says:

Hey, she shot off her mouth and said some stupid things which a lot of people will never forgive her for, but that was like 50 years ago. At 77 she is drop-dead gorgeous. I want to be just like her when I grow up.

    • LAK says:

Jane Fonda had a full face lift a few years ago. She went to a really good surgeon. Debuted her new face in Cannes. She also had her boobs done and various other bits too.

It’s a pity she didn’t pass her surgeon’s number to Jessica Lange, whose surgeon completely botched *her* face. It’s settled now, but she was such a beauty before.

The only other person who had a good full face lift is Julie Christie. Like Fonda, she looks like she’s aged very well rather than someone who had a face lift.

  150. Nimbolicious says:

    Jane Fonda. Wow.

  151. nicegirl says:

    Am I missing Brangelina? sightings?

  152. kri says:

I am at work Damn it! OH viola! Tina and Amy rule! I wish I was home.Fun dissecting for tomm. Have Many drinks and lots of snarks for me.

  153. Jayna says:

The camermen are awful tonight. They aren’t panning to all the big stars in the audience very much at all except the ones nominated. They used to pan across to stars before commercials, etc, jokes.. I’ve never seen George and Amal panned to but once, etc.

Maggie, grow your hair back out..

  154. lunchcoma says:

Oh, I like Maggie’s thoughts on roles for women. (Also, it’s interesting so many speeches touch on that this year.)

  155. scarf girl says:

I love how sonny underdogs winning ;assuming that is why so many having to walk from back, not front, tables).

Bill Hader as Stefan with Kristin Wiig as hosts next year!

  156. Jayna says:

Catherine Zeta Jones’ gown is stunning.

Katherine Heigl’s gown is va-va -voom on her. Gorgeous.

    • Lou says:

When did Katherine get so thin?! It’s an abrupt change. She was calling herself “Fuller-figured”, which was weird. She looks so much more bony than she did. Maybe it’s just the dress…

  157. MtnRunner says:

Spacey’s speech made me cry, dam-nit!!

He’s so classy. I would love to see him host one of these.

  158. Jayna says:

Goopy looks very pretty out in the audience. She is wearing her hair more natural, loose, healthy looking, not flat ironed and damaged looking. What a difference.

  159. Jezza says:

Sophie the comet seen draping her arm around our otter overlord as kevin spacey walked up to collect his award. Get a room already, lest the palpable sexual chemistry betwixt you ignites the room!

  160. Jayna says:

Kevin Spacey is so old Hollywood to me, the class he always brings to a speech. It’s those kinds of speeches that make me love award shows. Many may not like him, but his talent is undeniable.

    • lunchcoma says:

Spacey has a real talent for that kind of thing. I’d like to see him host one of these affairs sometime – he can sing and dance and schmooze and do comedy, and I think he might be an amusing choice.

      • Jayna says:

He was so funny on a late night show I saw last year. I mean, he was so funny, great comic timing, dry humor, great snark, quick on his feet in coming back with something witty. And the host said you should host the Oscars, and he said he wanted to. Watching him that night, I thought he would be amazing.

    • vauvert says:

Oh man, that would be fabulous. He can be classy and snarky and sexy all at once.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Over the past year and a half, Kevin Spacey has spent a considerable amount of time visiting and raising money for the care of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. I love him beyond words for that.

  161. Kiki04 says:

Cheadle and Margoulis? No Pitt? Or Damon?

    *sigh*

  162. scarf girl says:

And can I just say I love Julianna.

  163. MtnRunner says:

Clooney’s speech was wonderful. Love how he said he was proud of being Amal’s husband. He sure seems smitten.

    • LeAnn Stinks says:

      He’s an actor, remember? 😉

    • Jayna says:

He even choked up when talking about her.

    • Pants says:

      Agreed!

    • MtnRunner says:

That was no act LeAnn… that boy’s in lurve! Everything about their body language confirms it too.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

Wasn’t this his whole goal after being the Joke of last years GG, to come back take his victory lap with a credible wife I front of a worldwide audience and be lauded and bowed to by all those who laughed at him last year for his personal life.
Mission complete in a year, PR job and beard wife at award show, while the world and host praise Clooney’s wife and himself.
Total PR 101 but the audiences are buying it. So good job.

  164. Jayna says:

I love George. I won’t stay in the closet to my fellow Celebitchers. I stand here loud and proud.

  165. tifzlan says:

Clooney is hammy, and he really kicked it into high gear this year with his sideshow of a love life, but i really do like Clooney so i’m okay with this eventhough Fey-Poehler’s roast earlier tonight was too true!

  166. lunchcoma says:

…and this is why they love George. He makes them feel good about themselves.

  167. Katenotkatie says:

Ralph Fiennes: ride or die, always and forever. Who’s with me?

  168. Jayna says:

Boy, The Affair are way at the back of the room.

  169. Tig says:

Don’t get Ruth Wilson at all- she suffered through The Lone Ranger and her part in Saving Mr Banks was depressive, so guess she’s due. That dress is odd.

  170. MtnRunner says:

    Keaton FTW!

  171. Jayna says:

Aw, Michael Keaton. I heart his speech. Talk about an emotional speech and from the heart.

On a side note, I held my breath for a second. For a split second, as he paused, I thought he was coming out as gay (I really did), and then it was his son he was talking about as his best friend, etc.

  172. MtnRunner says:

So the leak wasn’t real after all… GBH!!

  173. Iheartgossip says:

I feel like Clooney is trolling everyone, all the time.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

      His PR planned worked.
Credible wife for worldwide audiences, lauded with a big award, and try to erase being the joke of last years GG for his personal life.
Still think she’s a beard and it’s about image more than anything.

  174. Tiffany says:

Wes Anderson looks like Tilda Swinton. That’s all I got.

  175. boredblond says:

Pretty crappy gg’s..high point Michael K…low point cloon doing the aw shucks foot shuffle

  176. Jayna says:

Julianne Moore never ceases to amaze me, how she never ages. Beautiful.

  177. lunchcoma says:

Goopy’s hair looks great, but my goodness, what is she wearing?

  178. Kiki04 says:

And 3….2….1……until the Cumberlings burn down Hollywood.

  179. tifzlan says:

Looking forward to the commentary regarding Redmayne’s win, although i was reaaaaally pulling for Carrell

  180. scarf girl says:

Really thrilled with the winners this year, even if show tempo was meh.

  181. OSTONE says:

Yay Eddie Redmayne!! Benedict must be fuming, all that try hard for nothing! At this point, Michael Keaton and Eddie Redmayne are kilometers ahead for the Oscar.

  182. mazzie says:

All I can think right now is how PISSED Harvey W. must be about Eddie R. winning. (Hee!) and I like pre-awards Cumberbatch.

  183. Miss Jupitero says:

GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL! *Does a cartwheel*

    • Lilacflowers says:

Crazy happy. Been doing cartwheels since Edelman threw that rocket to Amendola yesterday and GBH’s win just keeps the cartwheels going.

    • vauvert says:

Yay! More movies like it please! Pouring champagne for everyone.

  184. Tiffany says:

It looks like King Otter might be done for. I wonder what went wrong? Hmmm…

    • mazzie says:

And wait until the Oscar noms come out. Keaton and Eddie will be in the same category. No hope of winning.

      • MtnRunner says:

If voters look at all the potential nominees, BC wouldn’t even get a nomination. I like him as Sherlock and Khan, but Keaton, Gyllenhaal, Fiennes, Spall, Oyelowo and Carell deserve a nom more than Bendy this year.

      • mazzie says:

@MtnRunner: Agreed. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets on (he got one for the GG so there is a chance) but he won’t get the oscar.

      • Someonestolemyname says:

I think Ralph Fiennes and Eddie and Keaton are the real contest.
Just did a SAG screening of Birdman, wow Keaton.

    • MtnRunner says:

He didn’t look happy at all during Eddie’s speech.

    • MtnRunner says:

I guess Harv couldn’t buy off a win for anything except maybe Big Eyes, but I loved Amy in that movie so no shade here.

  185. Nev says:

    WERK goop!!!!

    Well done to Eddie!!

    Beyond thrilled for the win!

    • Just here says:

Same here! I even did a little clap. I know others might find him dull, but I really like him. And his mention of Hannah, making her laugh and blush, was really sweet.

  187. MtnRunner says:

BOYHOOD!!! This movie touched me so much. I am so happy!! Glad to see the little movies get this kind of recognition.

    • MtnRunner says:

I would have been equally happy with Grand Budapest… that movie was so well done and a delight to watch.

  188. MeloMelo says:

I’m sooo excited for Eddie! Although I’m also sad for Jake G… *sighs*

  189. **sighs** says:

Wow. boyhood? I’m a little surprised.

    • Veruca Salt says:

I know. I’m a little surprised a sad trombone didn’t play in the background when Boyhood was declared the winner. So overrated. Hawke, Arquette and the actor who played the boys stepdad were the only redeeming qualities of that film. Other than that, it isn’t a cinematic masterpiece or anything close to that.

  190. LAK says:

Very happy with all the winners.

  191. Marshmellow says:

    Thank GOD Julianne Moore won!!

    • Camille (The Original) says:

Yes, so true! Here’s hoping she wins all of the other best actress awards to come as well!

  192. J says:

    boyhood? nope lol

Jake G. or Oyelowo should have won, but ER was the biggest hustler this year so congrats to him

    oscar is keaton’s

    • TotallyBiased says:

ER was the biggest hustler? Srsly? Huh. Whelp, think we’re going to have to agree to disagree on that one.

      • ES says:

It is actually true. There was an article on ER and he attend something like 13K+ functions/ interviews. He wouldn’t have won otherwise.
But he is not very interesting personality wise, or controversy wise. So the media/ tabloids don’t write much about him.

      • J says:

yep, ER was the biggest hustler this year, thanks, ES!

      • delorb says:

Yes, he worked harder than anyone. I posted a link last week that showed who did the most behind the scenes work (parties and screenings) and Benedict didn’t make the cut (too busy filming Shakespeare and now Sherlock). Eddie topped their list. On the GG page, they list the winners and under the tag for the best song, they used a picture of Benedict as Hawking and not Eddie. Awkward.

      • TotallyBiased says:

13K Interviews? I find that..difficult to swallow, shall we say. Plus it also depends on how you define “working hardest”. And hustling.
ES –I am curious, since you believe he wouldn’t have won otherwise (and I can’t argue that, really, since I’ve not seen all the nominees):
Who do you think would have won, w/out ER in the equation?

      • Veruca Salt says:

He really was the biggest hustler this year, though…,

      • Lindy79 says:

Genuinely surprised, I thought Benedict would win here if nowhere else.
I do agree that Eddie has been campaigning hard for it, given that he has the time, it’s just imho been a better one and more industry (as he’s had the time) less tabloidy reliant than Ben’s. They’ve both used their personal lives but Eddie’s has seemed more…classy, probably because they’re in a 2 year relationship whereas Ben’s just seems, rushed and awkward.
*waits for the hardcore Ben fans to hit me*

The Oscar is Keaton’s though. Having seen Birdman, and the majority of the other possibilities for nominations, none of them including Ben and Eddie come close.

      • icerose says:

I agree Eddie has way more class than Benny-he may have attended more parties etc but overall his PR presentation was less media orientated and his overall approach was less pushy. Eddie’s relationship existed before the Oscar PR started and it was handled with finesse. Most of the pre globe predictions were for Eddie/ ,

Loved Eddie’s win but Jake/Carell were also a strong contenders and judging by the predictions Benny’s performance was not even rated.

      • ES says:

        > Who do you think would have won, w/out ER in the equation?

Jake G. should have won. A wonderful actor, has looks, humility, talent everything. Far better and mature than ER. ER is a cute boy but that is about it (and I am saying that even though I love me some posh Brits , lol). Jake has been in this business for years despite his youngish looks.
Not to mention how he and his sister are togher is adorable. It is nice to see such a wholesome relationship in showbiz.

    • ES says:

I actually thought Jake deserved to win. He has been putting out good performances for years.

      • delorb says:

I haven’t seen his film, but I’ve read good things about it. I couldn’t get through the theory of everything. I’d seen the Benedict version, since I’m a fan, and they were so similar that I couldn’t muster up the energy to sit through 2 hours of what looked to be a rehash.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

I think Oscar will be between Keaton and Ralph Fiennes.
Both older been around forever doing credible work, Keaton making a comeback of sorts.
I think voters will give it to the two older actors in the race, figuring Eddie and Cumber have many more years to earn it.
      JMO

I did a screening of Birdman and now doing a screening of Budapest H. and I think It really will be between Ralph and Keaton.

  193. India says:

    The view from here:

    1. Wiig and Hader stole the show.
    2. Amy and Tina are incredible Hosts.
    3. Wiig and Hader for next year!
    4. Cumberbatch and Aniston…the shameless campaigners. No wins. Maybe the HFP saw through the scarade.
    5. Julianne Moore does deserve the win.
    6. What the H kind of kiss did MC give Julianne Moore as he presented her with her Globe?!
    7. George Clooney was drunk. His speech clear of the Paris Solidarity March was meh.
    8. Julianne and Don presenting George…she was three sheets to the wind. Don is a class act.
    9. JLo. Holy freaking boobs. Damn. She looks hot in whatever she wears.
    10. GP. Looked. Pregnant.

    That’s it. For now.

  194. InvaderTak says:

I’m late to the party but I thought this was interesting: when you search “Golden Globes Cumberbatch” all the google front page results are about his photobombing. Unless I scrolled to fast through NBC’s couples slide show they weren’t there either. You have to specifically search for her to get results.

Edit: and my love for Common just went through the roof.

  195. Lilacflowers says:

I just have to say that some actresses and actors need to work on their facial expressions when somebody else’s name is called. This Golden Globes captured some of the most unprofessional reactions I have seen.

    • ES says:

Losing is hard. Especially when it is over something subjective like acting.
It reminds me of Olympic figure skating. But there there is at least silver and bronze in sport competitions.
In acting awards there is no second place . ))

What channel were you watching? I was watching the regular NBC coverage and they only showed the winners, I didn’t see the losers reactions.

      • Lilacflowers says:

I was watching the regular broadcast on NBC. Aniston was shown reacting to Julianne Moore’s win and BC, Steve Carrell, and Jake G were all shown right hafter Eddie’s win. Carrell was fine. Jake was laughing at something Maggie whispered to him. BC looked nasty.

  196. Sabrina says:

I’m so glad that Benedict Cumberbatch won nothing. I’m surprised that ‘The Affair’ won two awards as I really expected the other nominees to win.

  197. Sabrina says:

I’m so glad that Benedict Cumberbatch won nothing. Hopefully he will give the campaigning a bit of a rest now.

  198. Janet says:

    Best dresses of the night:
    1) Viola Davis
    2) Jessica Chastain
    3) Kate Walsh
    4) Jane Fonda, just because she looks so damn gorgeous at 77

Worst dress of the night: Keira Knightley’s. What in holy hell was she thinking of?

  199. kim says:

    This is my thoughts.

1.Oh my look at Benedict’s face when they called Eddie’s name.

    2. Eddie deserved his win and it made me really happy.

    3. Julianne should have won the comedy or musical department too but I’m happy with Amy. I don’t know what Reese and Aniston expected.

    4. Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel’s win made me believe in hollywood’s standards of art form again.

    5. George Clooney and Michael Keaton’s speeches were way too long. It was annoying and got even worse when Wes Anderson and Boyhood people had to cut thier speeches short.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Wes Anderson’s speech was everything. BC and Aniston’s faces when they lost were not nice.

  200. Lindy79 says:

There is a tweet going around from a journalist saying not to ask Cumberbatch about hie personal life on the red carpet as he won’t answer them.

    Ok then……

  201. Betti says:

I’m glad Eddie and Grand Budapest hotel got wins.

Also glad Bendy didn’t win – his campaign has been pure tabloid bait with blatant shilling of his whoopsie with the Huntress. I haven’t seen TIG or ToE yet but several of my friends have seen both and all said that while TIG was a good movie, ToE was superior and Eddie gave a better performance. A few said that while BC is a talented actor, he struggles to carry a movie (he struggle in TFE).
