Minnie Driver in Parker New York at the Art of Elysium gala: lovely or fug?

The Art of Elysium's 8th Annual Heaven Gala
This morning we’ll be bringing you the fashion from some of the weekend parties leading up to tonight’s Globes. First off we have Minnie Driver at the Art of Elysium Gala. As Kaiser mentioned earlier, the theme was “Marina Abramovic’s HEAVEN” which was supposed to offer guests a unique exploration of the five senses with a multi-platform artistic experience.” Minnie was in a contemporary beaded Parker New York gown accessorized with a bizarre black and white stripe jacket. It looks like faux fur to me, but it’s hard to tell. Those mixed color fur jackets are big this season from what I’ve seen. The dress is incredible, I love the line detail and think it flatters her perfectly. She could ditch the goofy jacket though.

Abigail Spencer of Rectify and Suits was also in black and white. She was posing way too hard in this dress, which would be incredible with the right styling. As it is, she’s overdone it with the dark eye makeup and severe hair. I like the swirling beading and sequins on this gown along with the two stones at the neckline.

Here’s Community’s Gillian Jacobs in a cheap looking pink and abstract purple print dress. I like that she went with a full coverage dress but this is not something you wear to a Hollywood event. It looks like it’s from the mall.

Finally Michelle Trachtenberg was in a black v-neck full length gown with gold accessories. I really like this look, it’s a nice balance between her jewelry and styling and the gown. Michelle is on Sleepy Hollow this year.

Like the black and white dresses. I’m very anti fur, so I really don’t even like faux fur, though it’s, of course, preferable to the real thing.

  2. RocketMerry says:

Minnie Driver is always lovely. The dress is amazing!
Michelle Trachtenberg looks very good too, very simple but chic.

  3. HH says:

I actually like the pink dress, but the look is ruined because of the fit. Tailoring, celebs! You’ll always need it. Also, non-platform heels and a nice low bun. Honestly, it looks like she did this last minute.

Her style isn’t that great. I do love her though. Community will be missed. It’s bitter sweet though. The annie character was the downfal imo. Back on point! Her bottom looks amazing in that side shot!
Michelle also can do no wrong.
Minni though… She’s just horrible. The dress is fine, but so awful she is.

    Abigail’s dress is banging

Well, leave that faux fur jacket for me! It’d be perfect for Burning Man next year (and yes, this is how my mind works, always on the lookout for burner wear).

    • bettyrose says:

LOL Coco! The faux fur should keep you nice and toasty in the blazing desert Sun. 😉

      • Coco says:

Haha it gets freaking COLD at Burning Man as it’s high desert. Super hot during the day and 30-50 at night. That’s one reason there are a lot of things on fire at night…to keep us all warm!

  6. Lucinda says:

Wow! I haven’t seen Michelle Trachtenberg since Buffy. She has grown up and looks lovely!

    • FLORC says:

She’s kept busy. Nothing seeking the spotlight, but busy just the same.
I think she’s a great example of child star to transfer to grown up star.

  7. MJ says:

Minnie’s face looks gorgeous! I’m not sure about her coat – I agree with an earlier comment that it’s giving off Cruella vibes.

  8. Kristen says:

    Minnie Driver is so gorgeous.

  9. Lucy2 says:

I like both Minnie and Abigail’s dresses. If I had Abigail’s gorgeous hair I would never pull it back!

  10. kri says:

Minus the topper, MD is amazing!! Also, MT is fab.

  11. QQ says:

IM super bored with everything im seeing thus far (and The People too! LOL) But That Michelle Trachtenberg Look and Fit and styling is pretty spectacular

  12. Janet says:

Ditch the jacket. The dress can stand on it’s own. Gorgeous.

  13. Jayna says:

Minnie Driver is turning 45 in a couple of weeks and looks amazing.

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

Congrats to Minnie for her refusal to sell out. A beautiful woman who hasn’t succumbed to the Chuckie-cheeks lube-lip high-yi-yi-yi brow look. I salute.

Minnie looks awesomeI love the obviously fake fur jacket, but I am a Burner so I am biased toward those to begin with. Skinned muppet=the LOOK for me!!!! 😉

    • Coco says:

See above comment, fellow burner…that coat is MINE! I have half a mind to take this photo to my friend who makes festival coats so we can knock one off!
