Lupita Nyong’o didn’t diss Kenya Moore, she dissed one of Kenya’s friends

Here are some photos of Lupita Nyong’o out and about in LA last week. I just never got the chance to post them last week, because we were actually busy with other stuff. But this week is looking deader than dead, so why not chat about our girl Lupita? She looks great in these photos, doesn’t she? I miss her. Even in the height of last year’s awards season, we weren’t getting a ton of street-style photos of Lupita, so these pics are extra special. This is how she dresses on her off days. Still gorgeous. I’m in love with that jacket. I love the way she’s wearing her skinny jeans too – this might be the most I’ve ever liked a pair of skinny jeans.

So, what’s going on with Lupita? Immediately following the Golden Globes, Real Housewife Kenya Moore claimed that Lupita had snubbed her when she asked for a photo. Kenya tweeted about it (using the hashtag #girlbye), then deleted at least one of those tweets. But now Kenya is trying to take some of her claims back:

#Alisterproblems? More like #Yousoundlikeajackassproblems. And Kenya did initially claim that Lupita refused to take a photo with her. Ugh.

Meanwhile, Lupita is likely headed to Uganda and South Africa this spring to film Queen of Katwe with my new favorite actor David Oyelowo. Queen of Katwe is based on the book of the same name, and the true story of the “rise of a young African chess prodigy.” Mira Nair will direct, Lupita will play the mother of the chess of prodigy while Oyelowo will play the chess coach-mentor, Robert Katende.

    WOW. .
    She looks great, as Always!

  2. AbbySauruxVex says:

I always enjoy the celebrity feuds when one of the “opponents” never actually engage or say anything. LOL. It’s always one sided with the one idiot just arguing with themselves on Twitter.
I need Lupita’s jacket in my life.

  3. aims says:

    She’s so pretty. .. that’s all.

  4. Kdlaf says:

So while Ms. Kenya is too busy acting a fool on reality tv and begging for relevance via hashtags, Lupita is busy making amazing films, being talented, giving speeches, looking gorgeous, etc. We need to start setting the bar higher for what counts as a “celebrity” these days smh…

    Lupita’s shoe game is strong.

  6. scout says:

Not liking the blue shoes but matching the bag I guess, everything else is casual pretty at best. Movie sounds interesting.
Diss more of Moore Lupita, see if I care!

  7. Felice says:

I’ve seen her instagram pre-2014 and she always had good casual style. But why is she with Kris Jenner?

  8. lunchcoma says:

Do famous people really get pestered by semi-famous people for selfies after awards shows? I sort of thought the point of making these events more exclusive was so they had a night off from autograph seekers.

  9. FLORC says:

She always tries to match too much. I love the bag, but the shoes are terrible.
Bright, bold colors like that with her skin tone though are always a win. She just needs to figure out how to match things without duplicating the color. Find complimentary colors.

    • Greek Chic says:

Τhe shoes are awful. Did she steal them from an elf?
I also think her jeans are too tight (especially in the calves) but she looks nice. Love her face and the bag.

      • FLORC says:

I think she’s still finding her style. That she dresses like a window display from lack of imagination. Or maybe safe and uninspired.

Sorry, if “Real Housewife” precedes your name, you are not A list.

Just read a quip recap of the story the movie is based on – sounds fascinating, I’m really glad a feature film is being made, and that Lupita is getting good roles.

    • YES. I’m so excited that this is a movie whose message doesn’t hinge on race/ethnicity–that it could be a movie (although it may be a true story?) with anyone of any race in the roles, and not make much of a difference.

      • lucy2 says:

It is based on a true story, the woman’s name is Phiona Mutesi. I’d never heard of her before this, but the little bit I just learned about her is fascinating. Apparently there’s a book and a documentary about her as well.
Plus the movie is being directed by a woman – Mira Nair.

Nothing interesting to add – just wanted to HONK for Lupita. She’s lovely and I like reading about her. More like this, please!

This story gets lamer by the day.

    • FLORC says:

      Yup.
On a good note her wardrobe choices remind me of mine in the 80’s. Toy store plastic heels, and that kid size faux leather “members jacket” cropped ofcourse 😉

  13. Sara says:

    Team KENYA.

  14. Duckie says:

Lupita seems to be making very interesting choices career wise. I like that.

  15. Charlie says:

The fact that she deined another person and not Kenya doesn’t change the story at all. If it’s true I still think Lupita came across as rude.

  16. maeliz says:

Those are an ugly pair of shoes. Look painful to walk in

  17. Veronica says:

God, she is stunning. Easily one of the most notable beauties to hit Hollywood in awhile. I’m glad her career isn’t dying off immediately post-Oscar, and I look forward to seeing her in more films.

  18. Tiffany says:

I have been loving me some David Oyelowo since MI-5. Lincoln, Jack Reacher were a couple of films that I really enjoyed him in. I am glad that the fanbase is expanding outside the UK.

  19. Susan says:

Kenya could not take the backlash and ridicule from her tweet. Her only league is the small window of the imaginary entertainment world and players of RHOA. BUT she still has the gaul referencing herself as an A List celeb. Reality bites.

  20. vodkainmyveins says:

    “#Alisterproblems”

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!

even your attempts at back-pedaling are lame, Kenya. Just sit down and be quiet.

  21. Kay says:

I think Ms. Lupita is stuck on herself! Not a fan!
