Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams got married yesterday

It was supposed to be the wedding of the year, and now Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have let us all horribly down. Wait, no. Actually, I thought this would be one of those engagements that got called off. Why? Because Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams just seem horribly mismatched to me. She has a generally sunny disposition – though she’s got substance too, and is certainly not an airhead. He is legendary for his… how do I put this nicely… “artistic temperament.” And yesterday, the two quietly got married in Savannah.

Mandy Moore and rocker Ryan Adams have wed, reps for both stars confirm to Usmagazine.com. They tied the knot Tuesday in Savannah, Georgia, adds the reps. The secret wedding should come as no surprise.

After confirming her engagement to Adams in February, Moore said she wanted the wedding to be “less … of a big deal… Hopefully, it can happen and slip by unnoticed by everybody,” said the singer, 24, who has dated Adams, 34, off-and-on since March 2008. “I guess we have to be sort of sneaky about it, but I’ll see what I can accomplish.”

She added that she has never been “that kind of girl” who obsesses over her wedding day and added that she hadn’t even thought about a dress.

“I kind of feel like, because I’ve been able to get married in a few films, I kind of got the whole giant wedding fuss out of my system,” Moore said.

In April’s Marie Claire, Moore calls Adams “a good egg. I’m in awe of him — his brain, his passion. He’s truly one of a kind.”

[From Us Weekly]

I heard about a small concert years ago where Ryan Adams stormed off the stage when someone made a joke about Bryan Adams. After a string of curses. He’s intense. Incredibly gifted too (“La Cienega Just Smiled” is one of my top 5 songs of all time), but doesn’t seem the type to have ever been interested in Mandy Moore in the first place, let alone want to marry her. They both strike me as very smart and cool, just not necessarily well-matched.

I don’t ever want to respond to news of a marriage with divorce predictions… but it does seem that this relationship moved very fast. I cautiously wish them both the best though.

Mandy sure has come a long was from the bubbly pop princess from Orlando. Sheesh.

  2. Bodhi says:

They have been on & off for a long time, JayBird. I think they are a great match & I wish them well.

  3. pixiegirl says:

Agreed that they seem mismatched. But they both seem like perfectly nice people. Perhaps they can make it work.

  4. me says:

    “La Cienega just smiled”… SWOON.

  5. Codzilla says:

I wonder how he wore his luscious hair for the ceremony.

  6. IvyMades says:

Wow. This couple has me scratching my head. Reminds me of Amber Tamberlyn (Joan of Arcadia) and David Cross. Anyway, Mandy seems to be into boho chic these days. They both look a little unclean…

  7. Ally says:

I think they’re very well matched. Both normal people who happen to be artists in a crazy business.

That note Adams wrote after they broke up last time, about how she was so sweet and he was a dope to let her go, was very sincere and touching.

I think they’ll make it work because neither is in it for riches and media attention.

  8. Mairead says:

I’m with Ally, I don’t think they’re that odd of a couple. Good for them and long may it last.

  9. Brown Sugar says:

correct me if i am wrong, but didnt’t she run back to DJ Am just a few months ago? She is always with a different man…the tennis player, the guy from Srubs, DJ Am. out of Brittney, Jessica, and Christina, she was the good girl, now we just know her as this is who she is dating…sorry, but I call a divorce

  10. RAN says:

I have no idea who he is, but he sure is fugly.

Having said that… who cares what he looks like – I just had to mention it. I wish them all the best in this new branch of their lives.

  11. Aspen says:

RAN! Ha ha. I was thinking that, but I wasn’t going to type it. Everyone thinks I’m so awful, anyway, so I figured I’d stay away from comments about ugly.

But there it is. She’s gorgeous and he is…well, not.

Since that has nothing to do with their happiness, however, I wish them the very best. She has never seemed like a woman who would rush in. Hopefully, this is a great thing for them both.

  12. Jill says:

yeah, but his music is AMAZING.

  13. Leah says:

WHAT?! I just came home from Savannah! It must’ve been REALLY quiet, because there was no indication AT ALL that two celebrities were there, getting married!

I kind of wish I could’ve run into them around town somewhere…

I bet they got married in one of those gorgeous churches in the historic district. 🙂

  14. jessiee says:

I’m with you, Jill. GOD, I LOVE his music. He’s awesome. And if they’re happy, more power to ’em.

  15. Cinderella says:

    So when’s the baby due?

  16. Javagirl1 says:

He must be amazing in bed. Because lookswise???

  17. mojoman says:

Hope both of them washed their hair before the wedding.

  18. barneslr says:

Wow! That is one unattractive man! My opinion doesn’t matter, though. I hope that they have a long and happy marriage.

  19. JJJ says:

    NoooooOOOooooOOOOooo…this is so wrong

  20. manda says:

I have heard of Ryan Adams (and laughed at the whole Ryan/Bryan Adams thing because I am old enough to remember when Bryan Adams made songs that people listened to) but have never seen him before. Wow, he is UGLY!!!! WOW! I can’t take my eyes off him.

  21. GrnMtGirl says:

I’ve always like Mandy Moore and I wish her the best of luck in her marriage.

  22. nanster says:

I think Mandy Moore is adorable, but Ryan Adams – not so much. I really hope this is a good move for both of them, but I doubt it. If you keep breaking up and getting back together, marriage isn’t going to fix the problems.

  23. Mairead says:

    @ Aspen- you are awful! 😯 Don’t change a thing 😉

He’s not really bad looking, it’s just the really unfortunate combination of the worst hairdye job, ill-fitting Buddy Holly glasses and a gormless expression that aren’t doing him any favours in these candids.

He’s a damned sight more attractive than, say, Spencer Pratt!

  24. lisa says:

Ew, poor girl. That would freak me out to wake up to him each morning.

  25. Ned says:

She is not 24 years old.

If that was true, than she would have dated about Andy 4 years ago and it was more like 8 years ago (or even 10).

    Definitely not 4 years ago.

  26. barneslr says:

She dated Andy Roddick from 2002-2004. She was born in 1984 and will turn 25 next month.

  27. spooge says:

    Man… what a goober.
Is he serious with that haircut and glasses or did Halloween come early this year?
