Here are some photos of Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley at the Newport Beach Film Festival screening of The Imitation Game. The event was held at the ME Hotel in London. Keira looks great, doesn’t she? Great hair and this is the most flattering maternity look she’s worn so far. An empire waist is a pregnant lady’s best friend. As for Bendy… there are no photos of him with Sophie Hunter. I don’t think she was there, but I’m sure some Floral Stalkers will tell me that of course she was there and she didn’t pose on the carpet because the whole thing is a terrible sham conceived by Harvey Weinstein.
This screening and party was one of many pre-BAFTA events scheduled in London over the next few days. I like the way the BAFTA people do it – they get excited for the BAFTAs and everyone looks forward to the show, but they don’t feel the need to spend weeks and weeks doing pre-BAFTA crap. They pretty much limit the pre-BAFTA events to, like, the three days preceding the show.
Since I don’t have much else to say about Benedict and Keira, let’s chat about the BAFTAs. You can see the list of this year’s BAFTA nominees here. They are this Sunday, the same night as the Grammys. I’ll check with CB, but I’m thinking that we’ll probably do the bulk of the BAFTA and Grammy coverage on Monday. Depending on when we get photos from the red carpet, I might toss up a few posts of some of our favorite people, like She-Who-Florals and Lord Dragonfly, on Sunday afternoon/evening. We’ll have an Open Post up as well, for all Grammy and BAFTA-related activities. BBC America will be airing the BAFTAs at 8 pm EST. The Grammys start at the same time, on CBS.

I was never really into her until now. I mean, I saw the first 2 pirate movies, Love Actually, and Atonement (could only watch it once) but now I’m watching everything.
Looks very tired, been flying in and out of USA for many months now. After BAFTA and Oscars, he can rest and concentrate on his personal life. She looks better and better, pregnancy suits her.
She looks good with extra meat on her. She’s beautiful either way though. I think she’s self conscious about her face swelling because she seems to be doing the suction pout more.

Actually he’s been in London – except for a quick trip to LA for the Globes – for a solid month now. His schedule has been relatively light compared to what it was before Christmas but he looks twice as tired. What’s up?

A lot of it is lighting with how he looks. In some of the published photos, his skin looks fine. He’s definitely tired though and his makeup artists need to realize that you put the yellow/orange or red based concealer on the dark circles first and then cover it with foundation that matches the skin, not just lighter concealer (and use a blender ball not a sponge for goodness sake). He looked cute with Loo though. She is so tiny. That is why Sherlock looks so tall, everyone besides Mycroft is shorter than BC.
He’s been under massive stress since November 5th IMO, and it’s taking its toll.
It’s more than tired. He looks utterly done.

People see pissy but I just see tired. I do seem some relief though. He smiled for the arrival photographer for the first time in a while. Keira is so gorgeous. I watched The Duchess on netflix the other day. It’s good but too many unlikeable characters.
He’s been tired before though and still looked in good spirits. He’s a professional so he knows how to put on face when he’s shattered. And the smiles I saw in the photos looked pretty forced, I thought.
I assumed that he would be more upbeat after the pregnancy announcement because it must have taken a toll to keep that quiet.
However, somehow he has taken a turn to even worse…

She wouldn’t be that far from it, judging by the fact she was showing at PIFF very obviously…or indeed dressing to show it. Women don’t tend to show until their late third/fourth month. But not near birth stage, no.

Pregnancy is as fake as it can get. She managed to prolong her contract for a couple of months. And she basically doesn’t need to get out of it, she will just drop all the crap on BC an disappear back into her world.
Gosh, some people in here could use a good therapy session or 20. Yes, of course Sophie is faking it and the truth everyone knows is that Benedict is really adopting a half-otter, half-alien baby with Martin Freeman. If we’re already at it, Amanda Abbington is a beard too and their children are just actors hired for photo-ops. Benedict’s parents are not his real parents, they are faking it, did you know that? I knew from the beginning. Look at their eyes, they’re evil, evil.

@Kat – I don’t care about this relationship either way but I have been a regular reader for years now and It’s just crazy that we got to the point where people have to convince complete strangers who know nothing about the realness of their relationship. We put labels on people’s interactions and if someone dares to behave differently, there is an entire conspiracy theory just waiting for one simple mishap. He is faking a relationship, she is faking a friendship, those people must be divorcing because they were caught with their feet facing in different directions, and the other ones don’t love their children because they didn’t post an Instagram photos of them. What happened with the harmless fan of gossip on here? I miss the old relaxing BC comments sections and not those creepy stalkerish ones that are completely off-putting and filled with irrational anger. So many great commenters have already left and they were replaced with people like Anon and their hatred. Don’t you see those digs Kaiser regularly makes at those statements? She’s right. Once the most cultural and eloquent comment section on any gossip blog, now slowly changes into something out of Tumblr.

I think you’re getting too wound up over it. Majority of people on here aren’t going to lose any sleep over anything they talk about here and there’s a pretty obvious large dose of snark. That’s what celebitchy is to me.
People aren’t grabbing their confusion out of thin air on this particular subject – the fu££ery quota has been through the roof. Course that’s going to get talked about to death. This is a gossip forum first and foremost and when someone high profile is doing something weird, people are going to gossip.
That doesn’t mean they’re not being ‘eloquent’. In fact, I think most people are pretty intelligent and eloquent on these threads.
Also, what does kaiser’s comments have to do with what people say? Nobody needs to conform and agree with her and actually she’s openly sideeyed BC’s behaviour a lot over this.

I ignored those comments up until know, but some of those things people write are so mean-spirited that it seems if they could, they would grab their pitchforks and destroy the woman who we know almost nothing about. A grown men, nearing 40, who has been very vocal about wanting to have a baby before turning 40, is having one with a woman whom he might love or don’t love, no one knows, and somehow she is the big villain who should be torn to pieces, because what – she made him with her evil powers? This type of hatred is not something that was common here but was sadly common anywhere else. It’s celebitchy, people have been snarky, sarcastic and suspicious but it was different, because it was all just silly and good-spirited. It’s not about the fact that people speculate but how they speculate. It might sound dumb to you and laugh all you want, but being able to find escapism on the site like this is important to me. I have struggled with a severe depression for years and as we once discussed here, many people with similar condition have treated CB as something it advertises as – escapism that is smart. I wish I could find something else but this is the only one that proved to be working with my stupid brain. I would feel that people in real life are awful, mean spirited and that life is pointless but I could go on celebitchy instead of staring at the wall, and forget how miserable I am because at least here, people were a lot less awful – we could talk about serious issues like depression and feminism or silly ones like some celeb’s new girlfriend without having to validate my fear that making one wrong move or one mistake will cause people to destroy someone. So no, it’s not about Benedict Cumberbatch, it’s about bigger picture and the general awfulness of the world and my grief over losing this comforting place. So sorry about my rants but it was just too much and you kept digging.

It’s simply untrue to say we don’t know anything about her. We do know some things about her and that’s what majority of people are responding to. Something’s up, that much is obvious. As for what it is…who knows. Hope it alleviates because he doesn’t look happy at all right now and I genuinely think he was looking forward to promoting the film he’s so proud of. I 100% believe he was buzzed to be involved in the surgence of this man’s tragic story. If Weinstein hadn’t bought this movie, things would be very different now, I’m certain of it.

I agree with everything you said Kat. I know he is busy filming at the mo but the weird thing is now that the enGAG promo is over, he doesn’t seem as involved promoting the film anymore. It’s all Harvey. I at least expected him to be happy during this phase of the campaign where its all about Turing, the film and the petition…but nada.
I think the whole thing has been such a ridiculous debacle that he’s embarrassed tbh. And sad to say, but so he should be.

I spent a few moments perusing BTT (Benedict’s Third Testicle) and accidentally clicked on a timeline that features photos of Sophie and where she was/who she was with in relation to Ben from March to September of last year.
Considering that it appears that she was everywhere and with anyone but him before June and after maybe July or August, I wonder if the problem is that the had a very, very short fling and he is expecting a child with a pump and dump that he spent a few days with. Not weeks like I originally thought, but days. There are pictures of her EVERYWHERE from NY to Scotland and with MANY different men, none of them Ben. I can’t believe he would marry her.

Well, when they announced the engagement, one of his friends or family said the ‘romance has taken off in the summer, even late summer”. Which means that by the time the alleged romance was taking off, she got pregnant. Even for someone as broody as BC, this is really fast work.
