Miranda Lambert in Gabriela Cadena at the Grammys: pretty or uninspired?

GRAMMY Awards 2015
Last night’s Grammys were a snooze compared to past years. There were a few standout moments, especially the duet between Hozier and Annie Lennox (although I am so sick of “Take Me To Church,” sorry Kaiser). I also really liked the Sam Smith and Mary J. Blige duet, but overall there were a lot of slow songs and uninteresting songs. Plus Sam Smith and Beck pretty much swept everything. Kaiser already did our Grammys wrapup post. This is just my rambling introduction to Miranda Lambert’s performance of “Little Red Wagon.” Maybe I don’t keep up with current music enough (true) but this is the first time I can remember hearing this song. (In my defense it only came out as a single last month.) Theoretically I should have been impressed because it was an energetic performance of one of the few rocking songs of the night. It was a fun performance, but I couldn’t get past the fact that it’s a freaking children’s nursery song. What’s next, “Ring Around the Rosie,” “Wheels On The Bus”?

Here’s Lambert’s performance. I wonder what she said that got cut out.

Miranda also won Best Country Album, for Platinum. This is her second Grammy. She previously won Best Female Country Vocal Performance for “The House that Built Me,” in 2010. Oh and Miranda wore a black Gabriela Cadena cutout gown on the red carpet. It’s a flattering dress and I like the fuchsia detail at the neck, but it’s not that interesting. She changed into a deep v-neck Sachin & Babi gown with a foil-look overlay after her performance. I kind of wish she wore the Sachin & Babi on the red carpet, it’s a better dress and is much more interesting.

Presenter Gina Rodriguez was in a tight white Christos Costarellos dress with green details. I saw people trashing this on Twitter, but I really liked this gown. Gina introduced Juanes singing “Juntos”. She seemed a little nervous but she recovered quickly.

I’m including some pics at the end here of Courteney Cox and Pauley Perrette, both in short black sequin gowns. Courteney is wearing Marc Jacobs and I don’t have an ID on Pauley’s dress. Both of these ladies need better shoes. Pauley introduced the Grammys music educator award, which went to a man named Jared Cassedy. That segment was really nice. Also, you can tell from Pauley’s Twitter that she had a great time. She took selfies with everyone!

Lol @country music is when I go walk my dogs!!!

Seriously. I changed the channel to peep that new gotta call sal. Of course I was gone just a minute too long! I missed most of fourfiveseconds!!

My point is, freaking country music makes me change the channel! And every year I miss a bit of a performance I been waiting to see!! Because country is like torture to me. It’s not so much the music. It’s the performers themselves 😱😱

I really like Gina and I love her show Jane the Virgin. She was clearly nervous but she recovered well. Her look was on point.

  3. charlie says:

I think she looked great, but I would love the dress even morwe if it wasn’t for the pink straps.

Miranda looks fit and pretty. Gina is young and beautiful, anything looks good on her.

Miss Cox, knee length dresses next time please.

  5. Sarah says:

I did not like Gina’s dress at all. It’s the Grammy’s and she’s young. She could have done something much more fun. Plus, dresses with zippers like that just make me nervous. Miranda looked great, I thought.

  6. Kiddo says:

lol @ Celebitchy’s rant. I love it. So I take it Tom Petty won big last night, huh? Shame he didn’t win the first time for that song /s.

The top of Miranda Lambert’s dress reminds me of a swimsuit, and her hair looks like it spent time in the pool. Rodriguez would have looked better in Perrette’s dress, in a fun color. It seems more youthful. The dress that she wore looks like a lengthened beach cover-up, so maybe she hit the pool with Miranda? But her hair is fantastic.

  7. Maria says:

    Nope, nope, and nope.

  8. Dana says:

Well, Miranda has never been known for her fashion. She’s never had that “Hollywood look”. She dresses for herself.

    Her performance kicked ass.

  9. Susan says:

Courtney Cox…are you okay?? Something looks off. Even the legs dont look right. Is this what bad lighting can do? Ugh. Poor Courteney!

  10. littlestar says:

I like both of the dresses Lambert was wearing, but oh my gahd, I have to say it – the woman cannot sing! I had to fast forward through her performance, it was so bad.

    • Dana says:

Wow, and see, I thought she sounded great. Hitted all the right notes, didn’t over exaggerate like so many country singers (*cough* Carrie) and her voice has a real bluesy feel, full of emotion and depth.

Plus, I think the feminist play on words makes it really cute.

It just goes to show you how peoples tastes can vary so much, I guess.

I liked Miranda’s except for the pink straps. Gina’s is cute and I liked it, but agree she could have gone for something a bit more youthful and daring. But maybe that’s just not her.

    Is Miranda going swimming afterward?
