Blake Lively steps out for Marchesa’s NYFW show: lovely or too matchy?

Here are some photos of Blake Lively outside of Marchesa’s NYFW show last night. This was Blake’s second postpartum outing, and it was also her second NYFW appearance. Blake has a history with Marchesa – she’s worn Marchesa gowns to major red carpets and she allegedly wore Marchesa to her wedding with Ryan Reynolds. She and her parents apparently sat front-row with Anna Wintour. God, I bet Wintour gives her another cover this year. Wintour adores Blake’s bland, vanilla vibe.

Anyway, I think Blake looks pretty here. Her hair has improved since her first outing and I don’t hate the hummingbird print on her skirt. I’m ambivalent on the matchy-matchy shoes though. Blake apparently loved the Marchesa show, writing on her Instagram: “Turns out it’s not appropriate to drool at a fashion show… in awe of Georgina & Keren.” Gurl, it’s Marchesa!! You don’t need to work that hard.

I think Blake’s parents must be staying with her these days. Earlier this week, Blake and Ryan had a date night in upstate New York, when they went out to dinner at The Inn at Pound Ridge (terrible name). According to People Mag, they sat beside each other in the main dining room and seemed “super lovey dovey.” Since they don’t have a nanny (that’s what Ryan said), I guess her parents were watching sweet baby James.

Like the dress, don’t like her hair, and if that’s real fur then I HATE the coat.

    • Jegede says:

Like the skirt. But Michael Kors did it better. Blake looks glowy

And O’Kitt where have you been gurl?
And ‘I Choose Me’? ‘Original Camille? The oldies are leaving *sob*

Edit: Oh, Sometimes mind, they are parrots.
    ?/><!!

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I’m not sure how I feel about this.

    That was fascinating, eh?

  4. PunkyMomma says:

Loving the buttons on the jacket.

  5. Abbott says:

She hustles for Marchesa like she owes Weinstein a favor.

Anna will give her the April cover, I bet, for that frozen Benjamin Buttons movie (or whatever) she has coming out.

    • Lee says:

I think Harvey produced Ryan’s latest movie…so it kinda makes sense!

Look wise, I think this outfit make her looks with no waist area. Big no.
And I still don’t get why Wintour loves her so much.

Those shoes are awful. I like the color but good god, they are ugly. Doesn’t she own like a 10 closets worth of Louboutins? Girl, get yourself a new pair.

Blake = incredibly bland. But I want those earrings. What is that jacket – it looks like something from Burlington Coat Factory. No, girl.

I wonder how Preserve is doing from a financial standpoint. There were SO many articles written about how bad the website looked and how it didn’t have strong branding, messaging, etc but it’s still up and active. Not that Blakey needs the $$ but I wonder if there is a significant ROI. Or maybe it’s too soon since it hasn’t even been a year (?) since its launch.

  7. taterho says:

I think she looks really lovely.
    I’m sorry.
    Never Mind.

  8. scout says:

Looks older, she is pretty and young enough not to wear frumpy clothes and hair style.

  9. wonderwoman21 says:

Yikes the contouring on her nose is so bad and unnecessary; blend, blend, blend! I’m ready for this contouring trend to go away, mostly because it’s been overused and abused at this point.

  10. oneshot says:

Marchesa were always the wannabe budget McQueen (when McQueen himself was still alive). But unlike McQueen, Georgina Craig and Keren just lack the artistic sense to elevate elaborately embroidered clothes to, well, anything memorable.

Blake remains blond and vapid, no surprises there. I’ll go out on a limb and say I understood the Kardashian Vogue cover way better than any of the THREE Anna has chosen to confer on her, because at least Kim K is relevant to the general public (still a terrible person though), unlike Blake who was a jumped-up CW girl with delusions of being a “style icon”. (I will never forget the shade thrown at her by the NYT profile they did of her for the Chanel bag gig, lol)

And that website of hers is an embarrassment to e-commerce, graphic design and the English language.

    • Prince Valiant says:

Well, her website must be doing well. She was high on Forbes’ list of successful entrepreneurs under thirty years of age. As for the Chanel bag gig, I thought it was great. I actually think it is still the best relatively recent Chanel ad until now. She has splendid hands – unlike some other actresses – and they were used advantageously in the Chanel shoots. Can we admit that what is poison for some is food for others, i.e. something one may like might be disliked by another.

      • oneshot says:

did Forbes actually have figures on how much her site made, or was that ‘successful entrepreneur’ title based on her CW-era earnings and product shills? Or is it just based on the fact that it got written about a lot because she is famous and the content is atrocious? I absolutely believe Jessica Alba, for instance, is a successful entrepreneur whose business has some legitimacy. Lively…..not so much.

as for the Chanel gig, her look is way too downmarket for that brand and even Chanel employees said as much when Karl gave in to Anna’s demands and gave her the bag gig. And she was gone within a season. Splendid hands don’t make up for vacant eyes – she would have been fine in a Guess campaign, but Chanel? Nope.

      • Jegede says:

        @Prince Valiant.

So true. Different strokes for Different folks

And people forget now, but Alba was denigrated & mocked when she started her blog.
Jessica was also featured in Forbes at Honest’s infancy, so maybe the magazine knows what its talking about

Blake moved from Chanel to Gucci.
        One season? Big deal.
Mila Kunis had one season with Dior and moved on
It happens. They earned their money and kept it moving

      • Prince Valiant says:

Oneshot, I happen to think that her site is quite good. Of course it is aimed at a younger target than the other sites. That explains the dark colours, the videos, the music. It is pretty great, actually. As for the vacant eyes, I disagree. She laughs, smiles often and the eyes are definitely involved, differently from other actresses who look dazed and confused in an attempt to convey sexiness. Let us agree that you intensely dislike her while I like her. OK, no problem.

  11. Curious Cole says:

I need her cuff earrings! Can anyone ID them?

  12. taterho says:

@Curious Cole I wondered too. I think they might be vintage/recreation Tiffany?

  13. Dawn says:

Love the skirt, hate the shoe color at this time of year especially. I think she looks fine. I’ve seen people dressed a lot worse than she is that’s for sure.

  14. INeedANap says:

She looks happier here, likely because she is more comfy in this skirt and top than that too-tight white dress from the other day. Girl, just say NO to lycra.

  15. Tiffany says:

I really want to find her interesting, but it is just not there.

  16. Andrea says:

Westchester is not upstate NY. It’s the suburb where Pound Ridge (hence the name Inn at Pound Ridge) is located just North of the City.
