Why does Stark still have Loki’s staff? Why didn’t Thor take that back to Asgard to be put in their super safe weapons dungeon? Did I miss something and need to rewatch?

    • Lilacflowers says:

That would have made sense but SHIELD kept it here. At the end of The Winter Soldier, it was revealed that HYDRA forces within SHIELD had it, along with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. The Avengers have to retrieve it from HYDRA @ the start of the film, according to clips Marvel released

      • InvaderTak says:

Yeah time to watch the Marvel movies again. I don’t know what it is with me and comic book related things but I pick up one thing and forget another. Uhg. I can remember the fight scene in WS, but not important plot points! Question still stands though; why not just take it home? FOR THAT EXACT REASON. It was stolen on Earth and you let it stay there? Come on Thor, get it together. They better have a good explanation for that one. An explanation that isn’t ‘Thor agreed to let Stark study it because Avengers’.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Possibly the same reason that Loki as Odin used at the end of TDW when he sent the Aether away? That it is dangerous to keep two infinity stones near one another?

      • MtnRunner says:

Invader, those fight scenes were HAWT. I see why you forgot the plot line.

And you both are HAWT for geeking out on Avengers. Y’all are My People.

      • InvaderTak says:

Possibly. Loki didn’t have a problem putting the tesseract and the staff near each other in the first Avengers though. Its ok to have them together as long as its temporary? Probably sending the Aether away like that is a plot thread we’ll get back to though (I thought Sif and Volstagg took it to the Collector?). It seems Stark is going to have a Boromir moment with the staff. My big concern I guess is that the writers didn’t think this Infinity Stone business out well. Hope to Thanos I’m wrong though. I should trust them more than my memory to be fair though, lol.
I don’t know what went down int he comic books, and I need a refresher marathon to remember the movies so I’m probably still missing a lot here. Oh well, at any rate, find out in May.
@MtnRunner: I only saw the Winter Soldier once lol Cap is nice and all, but I was all about Guardians! Thanos! The Collector! Cap got lost to me. Puny humans and their petty problems lol

      • Lilacflowers says:

We all must remember, as Loki has repeatedly reminded us, that Thor is a witless oaf. He may not have realized what the stone in the staff was. He had to have Odin explain what the aether was. Loki didn’t keep the staff and Tesseract near one another for long periods of time. He also probably doesn’t want to give Thanos too much reason to pay too much attention to Asgard, given the way Thanos threatened him. He sent the aether to the collector, who still has it.
Hoping Sif sheds some light on the Asgard situation when she visits SHIELD next week.

      • MtnRunner says:

Lilac, I don’t understand a word you said, but it was HAWT.

      • InvaderTak says:

Just realized I was being daft again. The Staff isn’t a stone itself, its part of/powered by the Tesseract. My bad. Its coming back to me slowly. Who all can identify the stones in the movie-verse anyway? Humans aren’t aware of the Collector or Thanos, but the Asgardians must generally be. What about SHIELD? They don’t, do they? When the A’s or shield discovers the truth about the stones and that Thor kept that info from them won’t they be p!ssed? Would Stark using the staff on Earth do something to Tess on Asgard? Good point about not wanting to draw attention to Asgard. Asgard is the only thing Loki cares enough about to really protect, and then he just wants to rule it. Yes, we do need Sif to give us some details. Will they bring the stones and Thanos/Collector into the next Avengers? Feige played coy about it at sdcc in 2014 while the film was being shot. I hope they do. The whole courting Death thing? They have to develop that at some point right? *sniff* I need annnnnsswers..,
But first, let me get my facts straight. I’m going to need a lot of popcorn.

      • TotallyBiased says:

As MtnRunner says: Invader, Lilac–you are MY PEOPLE!
Though (quibbling) being LIKE Tesseract technology doesn’t mean it’s the same. So theoretically it could be the greater premise that they are BOTH Infinity Stones that allows Loki’s staff to mess with the Tesseract-as-portal.

      • Lilacflowers says:

They’re two different infinity stones, controlling different things. The orb in Guardians is a third and the aether is a fourth. The infinity gauntlet is in the weapons vault in Asgard, it was visible in the first movie when Odin tells the boys about the Frostgiants and how evil they are and the casket of winter and that they were both born to be kings, neglecting to explain that one of them was actually born to be king of the frostgiants. So Loki currently has the gauntlet and the tesseract and he knows where the aether is and that SHIELD has the staff somewhere on Midgard. SHIELD knew about the tesseract because it was found in Captain America: the First Avenger, although it apparently had Asgardian origins, so Thor and Loki would have known about it growing up; it had just become lost to them. SHIELD didn’t know about Asgard until Thor and mjolnir showed up in New Mexico. Fury mentioned that in the Avengers when they were all quarreling and Stark and Banner were yelling about using the tesseract to develop weapons. None of them, except Loki, knew what the staff was or could do and they were planning on studying it. SHIELD doesn’t appear in TDW so Jane and Thor may have briefed them on the aether after the fact. SHIELD doesn’t know about the orb or the infinity gauntlet or Thanos. Although Thor should know that stuff if he remembers Odin’s pretty book but he wouldn’t know where the orb is or that the aether is no longer on Asgard. And he is a witless oaf. Why do I know all this?

The Kids Stuck in Spaces video is the funniest thing in the entire world.

    • Birdix says:

The helicopter mom in me worried about the kid with the jar on his head breathing. And it surprised me they included a crib–they made drop side cribs illegal after a bunch of kids died by getting their necks caught and strangling. Apologies for being a killjoy 🙁

  3. QQ says:

everyone but me?? I kind of am dying to see The Hunting Ground (College Rape Culture documentary) AND It Follows you (Horror)

  4. Miss M says:

I can only wonder how many times I will watch this movie…

    • Marty says:

Probably only a couple times more then Crimsom Peak, right? 😉

      • Lilacflowers says:

That movie’s release date is too, too far away.

      • Miss M says:

Speaking of Chrimsom Peak, where the heck were you yesterday?! 🙂
Hillary Duff gave an interview saying her crush is Charlie Hunnam, :/
Back to Crimsom Peak, I have no clue how many time I will watch that: Hunnam and Hiddleston?!

      • Marty says:

@Lilacflowers- I knooooow! It looks SO good though!

@Miss M- Did she? I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of that the more popular he becomes.

    • Lilacflowers says:

      I bought my ticket yesterday

      • Miss M says:

I am watching your comments closely, Lilac. Watch out and make up your mind! Calling Hiddleston and Evans your husbands… The nerve!!!

      • MtnRunner says:

Well, at least she lends out Hiddles.

Lilac, has he recovered from the beating he took at P’enny and icerose’s disposal BC’s wedding weekend? Remember, I’m the good one. He needs his time in nature. And I have apple crumble pie.

      • Miss M says:

@MtnRunner: As one of the official member of the Dragonfly Squad (although I gave up my title), I don’t recall Lilac had the rights to lend Hiddleston. Unless, Miss Jane (j.eyre) gave it to her and didn’t send us the memo.
@Lilac: Can you please elaborate on this lending business of yours? *confused*

      • MtnRunner says:

Miss M, where is Miss Jane? Her account of the raunchy adventures at Thornfield really can’t be topped. No one could answer the “Would you hit it” question like she did.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Browniecakes, AMC is doing a double feature of both Avengers films on April 30. They are also doing a marathon of all MCU films, yes, all of them, beginning April 29. That’s a lot of RDJ

    • MtnRunner says:

I’m ready to buy my tickets.

      • MtnRunner says:

And what d’ya know… Fandango sent me an email for pre-sale tix. Gonna book me a hot date with the huz. Booyah!

      • browniecakes says:

I am hoping there is another movie marathon. The day before Thor TDW premiered here in the US, I bought tickets for three movies back to back: Thor, The Avengers, Thor TDW, all in 3D. I had to take the day off work, but since I work for Disney, they kinda don’t mind.

      • MtnRunner says:

Fandango didn’t mention a marathon, but it’ll be nice to see it the eve of April 30. I’m not a big Thor fan — Loki’s the only one that makes that family interesting, go figure, the adopted kid — so one movie is fine for me. I’m so old, I’ll be at risk of falling asleep if I’m out too late!

      • browniecakes says:

Just heard some theatres are doing an intense 27 hour marathon – all the movies as in ALL the movies.

    • Lilacflowers says:

@Miss M, at some point last year, during a frenzied moment of Cumberbatch lust, JEyre pushed Tom out a window. I rescued him mid-fall and we secretly married last October. Because I am also secretly married to Chris Evans (we are allowed as many secret husbands as we want), I periodically lend them out when one or the other needs some special alone time with me. Tom’s version of events differs greatly from MtnRunner’s so she and ‘P’enny are on probation. Icerose has been banned from the lending library.

Tom is busy this week, frolicking in the snow, but he is available next Tuesday.

      • MtnRunner says:

Tom is full of sh*t. Or you are. Clearly, Someone has been poisoning his mind…again.

When does this ridiculous probation end? I got things to do to him that will have him howling at the moon.

      • Lilacflowers says:

He is still under doctor’s care for the damage you helped inflict last time.

  5. Soporificat says:

Ok, I’m not loving James Spader as the voice of Ultron. His voice is so distinctive that I immediately think of his face and I’m like, why is his voice coming from this robot dude? That makes it even harder to suspend disbelief. I love James Spader, btw, this is totally not a diss of him, but he is just so James Spader, you know?

Also, I’m really sick of Jeremy Renner, on screen and off. Yuck. Everybody else is great.

  6. ilovesunnydaze says:

He’s so handsome and his wife is freaking gorgeous!

  7. Beth says:

I’m going to be the voice of dissent here cos to me the trailer looks generic as hell.

I did however enjoy the first Avengers movie and will watch this. Just not terribly excited about it.

  8. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Lol–about the kids. My little brother once stuck his head under our couch (JUST his head)….and here’s the thing, this couch was like as long as our back wall, HEAVY, and I have NO CLUE how he got his head under it, but he started freaking out when he found that he couldn’t get his head out, and the couch itself was too freaking heavy to lift……

    • InvaderTak says:

You can’t leave us hanging like that! What happened??

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Well, eventually my mom squeezed his head out from under the couch….I have no clue how she did it. It was a giant old couch…….

  9. Jenny says:

Great? looks as boring as the first Avengers movie.

  10. Mispronounced Name Dropper says:

“Everyone’s freaking out about the great new ‘Avengers’ trailer”

A paltry thirteen comments, thus far, would suggest otherwise. Whenever I see trailers for these big budget “extravaganzas” I’m reminded that empty vessels make the most noise.

    • V4Real says:

Well this is pretty much a gossip site. Go check out Avengers Age of Ultron IMDb and you will definitely see the fans freaking out. I’m proud to say I am one of them

      • Mispronounced Name Dropper says:

The IMDB rates The Shawshank Redemption as the greatest film of all time. Enough said.

      • V4Real says:

Um, I’m not talking about ratings sweetie. If you stroll down where it says discuss Avengers, Age of Ultron , you will see the fans going nuts. I think the topic was everybody is freaking out about the Ultron trailer, not freaking out about the ratings. Let’s stay on topic here.

      • MonicaQ says:

And go on youtube. It’s been the most watched thing in the last 24 hours.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@V4Real, who wrote: “Well this is pretty much a gossip site. Go check out Avengers Age of Ultron IMDb and you will definitely see the fans freaking out. I’m proud to say I am one of them”

        Me too! 🙂

    • MtnRunner says:

Don’t diss the Jos. He is a god. I for one am excited for a 3 hour escape from reality and Stark snark and Cap Ass. Oh, and I think the Spader will a fabbie baddie.

  11. Abby_J says:

Yes, according to Idris Elba, he and Loki will be in the movie, but I am almost 100% sure that they will be in the end credit scenes to tease Thor 3. If people are expecting them to have a big part in the movie, I think they are going to be disappointed.

Still, Idris and Tom can only add to the beautiful men on the screen, no matter where their scene is. 🙂

    • The Original Mia says:

Exactly! There is too much going on to give any extended screen time to Idris and Hiddlesworth. They’ll have an end credit scene, which suits me just fine. I am beyond tired of Loki.

    • MtnRunner says:

I ain’t watching this for the sub 2 min of Loki. I’m saving that droolfest for Crimson Peak in Oct. Sharpe is hotter than Loki by a long shot.

  12. seesittellsit says:

No Loki, no seesittells it. That simple.

  13. Tiffany :) says:

The University of Oregon story is TERRIBLE!

    • Kitten says:

      HOLEEEEE SH*T, right?

Next time someone on this board wonders why a rape victim didn’t come forward right after they were raped, I’ll just copy and paste that link as a reply.

It’s incredible how an academic environment that is responsible for ensuring the safety, health, and protection of its students is actually participating in the systemic re-victimization of one of their students.

      It’s f*cking nauseating.

  14. Jag says:

Scarlet is the weakest link in that movie, and that’s saying something because I completely loathe Captain America.

The grammar person in me wants to point out that “Cap” would never speak that one line because it was incorrect, and he grew up at a time where people spoke well.

    • Hudson Girl says:

I agree on the Scarlet not being a great actress thing. I always feel like I am watching her act or something? It takes me right out of a scene.

On the Captain America thing: My boyfriend and I watched that movie and I remember Cap pulling out a notebook to list pop cultural things he wanted to study. Maybe it’s a plotline that he’s getting really into current slang, etc.? LOL.

  15. Maria A. says:

Simply put, I am really looking forward to this flick.

  16. Jan Harf says:

Holy cow! Chris’s SNL teasers were charming and funny! Didn’t see that coming!

  17. Altariel says:

Looks like just another day at the office for the Hulk 😉

Didn’t Whedon state something along the lines that the audience would really feel for Ultron? Perhaps, but not from this trailer!

Loved seeing, and hearing, Nick Fury back at his job 🙂

  18. Altariel says:

Wow, Chris and Elsa are both too good looking to be married…who’s prettier? Talk about genetic lottery, them and their lucky children.

    • Robin says:

She’s had so much plastic surgery that she looks nothing like her former self. It’s really good surgery, and she wasn’t bad-looking before, but nothing like as pretty as she is now. He, OTOH, is spectacular, but apparently not very bright. So they aren’t as great in the genetic lottery as they appear to be.

    • Kimberly says:

      Yes Robin is correct.

Elsa was cute before she did plastic surgery but she was no way as beautiful as is now with it. Her plastic surgeon did a fantastic job!!!

Chris is the only naturally pretty one.

  19. BreeBree says:

I know this belongs in the other thread, but Kim K’s hair looks SO bad.

  20. Lissanne says:

I’ve don’t know a thing about the Avengers, but this trailer makes me want to see the movie. Can anyone suggest where I could get a crash course on the Avengers? (I know such a question probably offends diehard fans. Does being a Joss Whedon fan absolve me in any way?)

    • TotallyBiased says:

Lissanne–no diss here! Some might say you need to see all of the previous movies (and there ARE places running 30 some odd hour marathons, I think 😀 )
But I think if you watch Avengers and then read synopsis of the other MCU movies, you should be good. (Though after seeing Avengers, it would be perfectly understandable if for some reason you realized suddenly that you just HAD to see the two Thor movies as well. Something about the ‘bad guy’ 😉 )
Then again–if AoU is a good movie, it should also stand alone. And Joss is a GREAT storyteller. So you could try just winging it! 😉

    • Lilacflowers says:

There’s plenty of time between now and opening day, almost two full months, to find and watch all the movies at your leisure without going to one of the 24 hour marathons. And be sure to watch the scenes IN and AFTER the credits because they give clues to the plots of the next films. The movies do intersect in small ways from the start. Where they stand at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy: Thanos is still trying to get all the Infinity Gems (not fully explained yet, although 4 of them have appeared in the movies) but he is unknown to the Avengers. SHIELD is in disarray and underground and considered illegal and evil after HYDRA (which is evil and founded by NAZIs) destroyed it at the end of Captain America. Stark is funding SHIELD’s underground activities. Fury, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Captain America, and Falcon are all in hiding. Maria Hill is working at Stark Enterprises. Only Fury and Maria know Coulson is still alive and running SHIELD. Thor is on earth, trying to build his relationship with Jane Foster and thinks all is well in Asgard, unaware that Loki is still alive, has done something with Odin, and is secretly on the throne. HYDRA has Loki’s staff, Loki has the tesseract, the Collector has the aether, and Glenn Close has the orb on Xander.
