Taylor Swift posts what is possibly the best ‘Woke Up Like This’ selfie ever

I woke up like thissss (With a cat on me)

A photo posted by Taylor Swift (@taylorswift) on

Please help me, because I find this ^^ to be one of the most adorable things ever. Taylor Swift is cat-mother to two beautiful Scottish Fold kitties, Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey. I’m pretty sure this kitty is Meredith. This is the one thing I miss about cats – waking up in the morning to find a cat sprawled on top of you in some weird position. My mom says that her Maine Coon sleeps on her head every night. Sigh… maybe I should get a cat. My dog would freak out though.

So what’s going on with Swifty these days? Eh. People are still setting her up on imaginary trysts with famous men. This week, the rumor is that Swifty and Calvin Harris might be happening. Calvin Harris does have a thing for famous women, and I could see how he and Swifty might have gotten flirty at some point, but please… they’re not dating! Besides, he has a girlfriend.

The National Enquirer also reports this week that Swifty has joined a calvacade of divas in insuring her body for millions of dollars. Allegedly, Swifty insured her legs for $40 million because they’re so vital to her career. It might sound weird, but seriously, lots of singers/pop stars/celebrities insure their famous assets. Mariah Carey has her legs insured for a billion dollars. Dolly Parton insured her boobs for hundreds of thousands of dollars too. Is it so weird to think that Swifty would insure her body?

Holy crap, I’m not a swifter, but that is fantastic. I love it.

    • j.eyre says:

The Heiress is both Swifter (is that really what they are called?) and a rabid cat lover – I think this photo just detonated her Happy circuiting; she will be wandering around with her eyes spinning counter clockwise in jubilant delirium as a result.

      • Kiddo says:

I don’t know if it’s a thing, but I always mistakenly called those dust mops swifters instead of swiffers (which makes no sense to me) and so when I hear about Taylor, I then always think about the mops. It’s circuitous and likely only happening in my head, where it is a thing.

And also..I have missed you and loved your comment. 🏆🏆🏆
Mini Sir Winston Churchill is proud.

      • Kiddo says:

Plus the swifters, like the mops, will clean up anything perceived as ‘dirt’ against Taylor on a thread, in a hurry, much like the mops. 😛

      • j.eyre says:

“Plus the swifters, like the mops, will clean up anything perceived as ‘dirt’ against Taylor on a thread” – OMGsh, that’s marvelous.

Yes, that is exactly what I thought too re: the Swifters. As a matter of fact, until you mentioned the mops actual name, I did not realize they weren’t Swifters. Honestly, when you see the commercials, those people Swifting are so happy in their mopping, they could be mopping along to Taylor’s music so I think this is all just a huge rebranding waiting to happen and we will all know its due to your brilliance, Kiddo.

I have missed you and the crew as well. I’ve attempted to say something of relevance on some posts but I don’t think that has worked out so well for me. Sticking to cats and pretty shoes (and Grand Master G-Chill, of course) is my safe zone and I shan’t veer off again (possibly.)

      • Kiddo says:

Aww, I can’t see you not posting relevant stuff. You are always clever.

    • MCraw says:

      This photo is everything!

      Ok Tay-Tay

    • I Choose Me says:

I don’t think anybody can hate on this picture. Least of all me. That cat is adorable.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      That is adorable.

    • Vexchnrritas says:

Sorry, but those are not million dollar legs.

  2. Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Lol, whenever my cat (technically my little brother’s) makes her way into my room at night, she WON’T sleep with me in my bed, she’ll sit in the window, but I’ll wake up at like 5 am with her sleeping between my legs. And I always freak out because there’s *something* between my legs……..

And lol on Mariah Carey insuring her legs…..seriously? I’d insure my vocal cords if I were her, because they’re about shot….

    • Kitten says:

My little one was in the middle of the bed for the entire night last night-and you can’t move him. He is DEAD weight. It’s really annoying because I’m someone who stretches and moves around a lot in my sleep. Then again, it’s awesome to have the extra warmth..lol

    • Bridget says:

That was in conjunction with Mariah’s Gilette deal, quite a while ago.

I can’t imagine that these celebrity insurance policies aren’t for a finite amount of time, since insurers are notoriously conservative (it’s not like they want to pay out millions of dollars) and celebrities are notoriously hard on their bodies.

    • Rachel says:

I’m pretty sure Tina Turner had her legs insured a long time ago. Because she’s Tina freaking Turner and those legs are still amazing.

Mariah had a Gilette deal? Because she’s so well known for her legs?? I’m confused…

      • Bridget says:

It was when she was constantly wearing mini-skirts and teeny, tiny shorts. Granted, this was probably a solid 10 years ago, if not longer.

    • FLORC says:

      GNAT
That’s too funny! I always got freaked out when i’d wake up to my cat’s silhouette in the window. He was all black and sharp green eyes. Cheshire cat style eyes. He’s was a wonderful cat, but he caused a few late night screams of terror from me.

And Mariah can’t insure her voice anymore because it is shot. Maybe in the prime she could have and should have.

    • NB says:

I have two cats, one of them is a ‘feet sleeper’. He waits until my hubby and I are either half asleep or fully asleep and then curls up on/in between our feet. We laugh because we twist ourselves and make ourselves uncomfortable because we hate to disturb him!

Our other boy likes to snuggle either next to my waist with his head on my stomach or right under my armpit with his paws on my chest and my arm around him like a little teddy bear. He’s the sweetest – he’ll look into my eyes and pet my face with his paw. He’s a mommy’s boy though and doesn’t do this with my hubby.

      Anyway – cats rule.

    • amurph says:

My friend had a cat that hated everyone (EVERYONE). I woke up with the cat two inches from my face, just watching me sleep. I think I fell off the bed while the cat bolted around the room like a pinball. She did it every night I was there. It was the weirdest and possibly most traumatic thing to happen to me while sleeping.

      • Carol says:

If that cat answered to “Smokey” he was a reincarnation of my childhood cat. He hated everyone and would hide in a room for someone to walk through and then launch himself at your ankle. Jaws of life couldn’t pry him off. He sat on my mom’s chest and watched her sleep a few times. Did I mention she hates cats? She woke up to him a few inches from her face. We were all terrified of him!

  3. Kitten says:

RIDICULOUS. More Olivia Benson and Meredith Grey please!

I bet Olivia was laying on her back. Folds love to lay on their backs with paws up in the air.
Please see Exhibit A for proof:

    • LadyMTL says:

Kitten, I am now obsessed with that Tumblr page. 😀 I have an orange tabby who loves to sleep in the bed with me, usually near my feet or right next to my pillow (pretty much nowhere in between), but it’s rare that he rolls on his back like that.

As for Taylor Swift, I agree…more cats please!

      • Jess says:

Ladymtl, I want an orange tabby soooo bad! I’ve heard they talk a lot and are extremely friendly, which has been true in my experience with them.

      • Kitten says:

I need your orange tabby to give a tutorial on bed-sharing to my littlest one! 🙂

Thanks for checking out my Tumblr, guys. I love sharing pics of the kitties 🙂

      • LadyMTL says:

Jess, my cat (Pharaoh) only shuts up when he’s sleeping…seriously, sometimes I answer him when he meows and he then meows back at me. We converse! He is extremely friendly, with everyone except the vet.

And Kitten, I’ll gladly let him teach other kitties how to share a bed. He’s one of the few cats I’ve ever had who actually doesn’t hog everything, lol. And I have bookmarked your Tumblr, cos I love Folds.

        🙂

    • Shambles says:

      KITTEEEHHHHS! So adorable, Kitten.

    • **sighs** says:

Aaaaack! Too much adorableness! Is that kitty named after Zidane?

    • Kiddo says:

      HAHA, BELL-ayes!

    • jwoolman says:

      Like the prairie dog pose.

If your cats like the toy rabbit, have you tried them on Batters cat toys? Very solid stuffed critters that have very long bodies, perfect for wrestling with (“rabbit kicks”) and sleeping against. Here’s a pic at Drs. Foster & Smith (look for cat toys and Batters), we got the mouse one but Junior Cat ran off with it and stashed it somewhere so I have ‘t seen it in a while:

      http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3261+1897+21536&pcatid=21536

Found that wiping the toy with hydrogen peroxide does well in getting rid of l’odeur de cat spit.

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

Cutest kitty pics EVER, Kitten! Now I want a Scottish Fold!

    • FLORC says:

      Every picture is awesomw!
I adore the 1 early on that has the kitty peeking from what looks like a couch cushion.

And animal smells are best to rid with active enzymes. Oxy clean, certain non-chlorine detergents as well as what was stated above all have these. Also, great for getting fresher stains out of fabrics so you don’t get that permastink in say a sports bra.

    • Tiffany :) says:

Soooo cute! Sigh. I love animals.

    • I Choose Me says:

That link is everything Kitten. Thank you.

    • jaye says:

Kitten, your cats…I DIE! So freaking CUTE!

    • Dream Big says:

      @kitten

Love the pics!! I can tell you let your babies have their own personalities!! So much presence in the eyes..happy and loved!! You just gave me an idea to showcase my maltipoo! He has the same look in his eyes just like the grey one. Thinkers lol

    • Marty says:

Thanks for that Kitten! Now I’m seriously considering getting a tumblr just so I can reblog all your adorable pics!

    • StripedSea says:

      You have GORGEOUS chillunz 🙂

    • vauvert says:

Aaaaa!! kitten cuteness overload!! (And your duvet cover is pretty dang awesome too!) I love your pics and the names are cool too. (why Pickles?)

And yeah, still love Taylor, and her cats too. When I was 25 I used to wake up looking pretty luminous too:-) even if she dabbed some gloss on, who cares, she is pretty and young and fresh faced, and I love that her pics include cuddling on the bed with Olivia rather than stumbling out of bars drunk with no underwear on.

  4. Cindy says:

Don’t they say dogs look like their owners? Well, I think swiftly looks like her cat! And I mean that as a complement, what a cute picture.

  5. Suzanne says:

Don’t believe it…she woke up the second time like that! LOL

    • FLORC says:

My hair is a disaster when I wake up. Her’s looks freshly brushed. Still, that cat is everthing in that picture. The rest of bragging.

    • (Original, not CDAN) Violet says:

Agreed! Swifty is wearing makeup and her hair is way too tidy. It’s a sweet pic, though.

      • itzblissy says:

i dunno her eye liner is a bit smudged. it looks like what i would wake up like if i took a short nap.

      • (Original, not CDAN) Violet says:

        @itzblissy

Yep, that could be. In any case, we’re in agreement that the photo is definitely not of her waking up for the first time of the day 🙂

      • The cat pic is too cute so she gets a pass. But girl, take your makeup off before you go to bed. When you get to be my age, that kind of behaviour will ruin your face….

  6. Dree says:

I miss my cat so much, my ex boyfriend got it when we split. 🙁
I used to wake up with her sleeping on my legs or tapping my face with her paw to wake up on saturdays.

  7. lem says:

if you needed any more evidence that her cats are freaking adorable:

    https://instagram.com/p/zoy27rDvKg/?modal=true

    • Kitten says:

Why won’t mine do this? 🙁

      • lem says:

mine hate each other. my bf and i combined kittehs almost 4 years ago and they barely tolerate each others’ existence. mine is capable of kitteh friendship b/c i used to have a second cat who was her buddy (no worries–second kitteh is just now residing with my parents).

    • jaye says:

My boy cat used to forcibly clean my girl cat. She would struggle but he would hold her down and clean her. Not the oddest thing I’d ever seen a cat do, but it was up there. At least top 10.

    • NB says:

Awe my boys snuggle like that too…they are 6 months a part and at first hated each other. Within a few months they were snuggling like brothers. Now they might chase each other around and fight, but then an hour later they’re in bed giving each other baths, and after the bath they curl up head to head and cuddle. It breaks my heart in a good way!

  8. Triple Cardinal says:

    She woke up like this?

Then she went to sleep wearing last night’s makeup.

    • Jayna says:

I’m guessing she had her assistant or girlfriend, if staying over, come over and apply a little lip gloss and mascara before taking the “just woken up” photo. LOL I noticed the same thing.

      • Allie says:

Yesssss. The cat is cute, don’t get me wrong. But girl, you brushed your hair and put makeup on before you took this picture.

    • jwoolman says:

Probably the cat does it so much, she just needed to lie down and wait for kitty to come over and fall asleep on her. Cats have specific sleeping position preferences with their human pillows.

    • Nicolette says:

I know, right? Her hair is a bit too purrrrfect for just waking up. The kittie is adorable though. Our younger cat sleeps in my sons room, often battling him for the pillow. The older cat sleeps on the couch close to the heat. But when the other cat is done sleeping in my sons room, he will either run down the hallway and throw himself against the door, or just sit there and cry for me to open it.

    • Tiffany :) says:

With the sleeping cat, though. How would she get up and get it done?

What am I saying…I don’t care about what she looks like, I can’t take my eyes off that sweet sleepy kitty!

  9. Jaded says:

Ahhhh cat love in the morning….I awake at each new day’s dawning with one kitteh on the right side of my head and the other on the left. Always. They never switch spots. And then they purr and purr….best alarm clock EVER.

  10. jwoolman says:

Hard to dislike someone who is a cat bed. Her priorities are correct.

By the way, Kaiser, cats and dogs can coexist unless the dog has been trained or traumatized into being a cat killer. The cat of course will be the one in charge, no matter how large the dog. You can actually ask a shelter to look for a cat experienced with dogs for you. There are various ways to introduce them to each other, getting each other’s scent on them can help as well as the usual tricks of gradual introduction, good supervision, reassuring the dog that kitty is an enhancement and not a replacement, pheromones in the air and Bach’s Rescue Remedy liberally applied to both. If your dog has to be alone sometimes, the feline companion will be appreciated.

Long ago, I hired two kittens for the feline staff who had been regularly sleeping with a dog. For the first two months, they had a definite doggy odor rather than the more subtle/neutral kitty odor. The vet also told me about a cat who saved the life of her doggy companion- uncharacteristically, the cat stayed very close to the dog for hours while the dog seemed to just be relaxing under a tree. Finally the pet humans investigated and realized the dog was sick. They got the dog to our vet just in time – if kitty hadn’t been so persistent in guarding the dog, they probably wouldn’t have noticed anything was wrong until it was too late.

    • lucy2 says:

One of the rescue groups near me is very descriptive about their cats, including whether they’re good with other cats, dogs, kids, etc. Plenty of them are OK with dogs, many have been fostered with them.

  11. Jayna says:

Many years ago I had a cat once that was an innocent, very sweet and trusting, but looked like a gangly cow the way he was built and big sweet eyes. No matter where he was in my apartment back then, somehow he knew when I was up moving around that I was heading for bed. I could be back and forth all night in different rooms and he never came out of where he was sleeping. I have no idea how he knew that specific time I was in the kitchen or wherever that it was going to be right before I went to bed. But he had some time of intuition and always knew and would come out of nowhere and follow me until I went to the bedroom. I slept on my side. He would jump up and lay behind me and wrap his front legs and paws almost tightly around my neck, burying his face into the back of my neck. I would always wake up with him gone in the morning. But it became a little ritual for about a year. I had broken up with my boyfriend, and so it was sweet I had my little love bucket cat. He died of brain cancer at the age of three years old.

    • Kiddo says:

Ah, that’s sweet and sad. It broke my heart a little, I can’t imagine what it did to yours.

    • Kitten says:

Oh my god…that is like my worst nightmare.
I’m glad you had him to comfort you, even if it was for a short time.

    • venus velvet says:

Jayna, that’s so sweet. Sorry his life was cut short, but glad you have the memories.

  12. J Stone says:

There’s a comment concerning Swift’s preferred choice in bedmates to be made here, but I won’t. It’s too early to completely destroy a Swiftie’s day:)

  13. oneshot says:

….and we’re supposed to believe she wakes up with her hair in perfect shape, with eyeliner and possibly lip tint on? Or did she just go to sleep with her makeup still on..

  14. smcollins says:

I’m not a TS fan in the least, but I have to admit that photo is giving me the warm fuzzies. Beyond adorable.

  15. Domino says:

Suuuuuuure you woke up like that, hun…

  16. Jess says:

This is just adorable, I love that she’s a cat lady! I could look at cat pictures and videos all day, never gets old.

  17. someone says:

The kitten looks like a sock puppet someone popped up in the corner of the picture. Too cute, Taylor and her kitten look happy together.

  18. B says:

That is just a sweet photo, the cat’s little sleeping eyes…Taylor looks cute and natural also, but love the little cat just doing its animal content/sleeping thing.

  19. spaniard says:

I don’t mind if it’s staged or not or if she has brushed her hair and put on lip gloss…this is freaking adorable!!!

  20. katy says:

Depending on what position I sleep in that night, I will have two grown cats vying for a place to sleep on/next to me. If I sleep on my side, there is one cat on the crook of my legs, and the other right near my stomach. If I sleep on my stomach, there is one cat on my butt and the other on the small of my back. If I sleep on my back, they both somehow squeeze onto my chest, which wakes me up because of the weight of those two, so I move one to the crook of my arm and resume sleeping, only to wake up to both cats on my chest again.

Not that I’m complaining. I enjoy every minute.

  21. Kathi says:

Kaiser, this cat is Olivia btw

  22. Iheartgossip says:

  23. Jojar Pinks says:

    ugh. go away..

  24. teri says:

I see alot of Princess Diana in the top picture. I can’t believe it’s been so long sincer her passing, I really miss her.

  25. bagladey says:

My yorkie likes to sit on my shoulder and to sleep part of the night on my head.

  26. ramona says:

My gosh. She’s really pretty without tonnes of makeup and such. And the kitty is the most squinchy, adorable boo I’ve ever seen, besides mine. 🙂

  27. Veronica says:

I thought it was a cute selfie, but it’s pretty transparently NOT a wake up look. When I wake up with eyeliner on, chances are it’s been there since yesterday and smeared halfway across my face, haha.

(I also agree with Lainey that this look is way more flattering than her usual look. She wears a red lip well, but she could really do to cut down on the foundation. She’s 25 – she doesn’t need all that full coverage!)

  28. Amy says:

I am not a cat person but that’s a cute picture. Also how does she look so fabulous upon just waking up? I look like an ogre with my frizzy hair falling out of my ponytail.

I wonder if Taylor has been to the cat cafe in New York City? (Yes, there is one and it is called Meow Parlour and opened a few months ago) I went on Friday night for the first time with a friend who is cat obsessed and wants to open her own cat cafe. It was a lot of fun and relaxing to be with the cats even if they were all a bit skittish. Unfortunately, they made me miss my dog who died last summer and I ended up dreaming of him that night.

  29. Angie says:

Lol at the comments about her state of makeup/hair. Maybe she took a mid-day nap? Honestly, though, who cares?

Her cat is freaking adorable. Id love to have a few myself but we travel way too much 🙁
