Love the name Edith, not crazy about Vivian or Patricia.

    I am definitely anti-beard.

    • bettyrose says:

The beard is like dating someone in a veil. At some point don’t you want to know what their face looks like?

    • enike says:

      I like Patricia
Edith and Vivian not so much

      (why you need 3 names?)

  2. Hullubaloooo says:

    I luv beard. 😛 I want Cate’s dress.

    • belle de jour says:

Those graphics with the shadow effect are sort of grown-up cute, aren’t they? What a pretty, fun dress.

  3. oneshot says:

It’s a pretty name, Cate definitely had good taste naming her daughter (and it turns out the baby has the middle name Vivian and not first name Vivienne after all?)

I just can’t think of Edith as a name an infant would have. Obviously everyone named Edith was an infant at one point – but I had a great aunt ‘Ede’ (Edith) who just seemed so old, even when I was 3 or 4. I don’t remember a whole lot about her, but she used to feed me molasses cookies, so she was always great in my books. But my family will still talk about Ede, and I just associate it with a nice old lady who gave me cookies. Dad’s side of the family just had such great older lady names. Dorothy, Edith, Kathleen, Violet, Addie, etc. that I just only think of them as such. And they’re cute names – especially Violet imo- But it’s going to take me KNOWING a child with the name to really appreciate it fully, I think.

I had a great-aunt Edie. In the 60s, she had cat’s eye glasses and wore a black bouffant, and sensible shoes. I think of her, but I also think of Edie Sedgwick. Two opposites!

    • bettyrose says:

I keep thinking how in about 50 years people will be like Jennifer/Jessica etc. are old lady names, weird for a baby.

    • oneshot says:

The 16-year-old heroine of one of my favourite books as a teenager was named Edith but went by Edie (the book was published in 2000 btw)

And there is 24 -year-old Burberry model Edie Campbell, not an old-lady name at all.

  5. Penelope says:

Edie is a cute nickname for Edith. I like the name.

  6. Bets says:

Someone else pointed this out…is her married name really Cate Upton?

  7. Alarmjaguar says:

My grandma’s name is Edith (she goes by Edie), and I’ve always liked it.

  8. lucy2 says:

Edie is cute as a nickname for Edith. Or maybe they’ll call her Vivian and Edith is a formality for a family member or something?

  9. Lisa says:

All I could think of is, the child’s initials are EVP. *cue Ghost Hunters theme*

  10. LAK says:

What a great combination of names.

  11. Jan Harf says:

    Karma is a bitch, June.
    I love the name Edith.

Just wanted to post that Sam Simon died today. He was a co-creator of the Simpsons and did a lot of other shows, and after he retired he dedicated his life to philanthropy, especially animal causes.

    • Tiffany says:

Read that earlier. If you have time Google some of his last interviews. He knew that his time was coming and really seemed prepared for death. They are good reads.

  13. SnowGlow says:

That Britney fan is embarrassing, save it for your Tumblr dude.

  14. Christin says:

I like the names. They are more classic sounding names, versus the overused ‘trendy’ names that have been so common.
