Scott Eastwood claims it was his choice not to play Christian Grey: really?

Back in 2013, many of us were surprised by Scott Eastwood’s very attractive Town & Country photoshoot. Clint Eastwood’s genes produced a young look-alike son, only Scott looks and seems much more “frat-bro” than his dad. That was sort of the beginning of Scott’s hustle too, as he’s tried to parlay his “Fratty Clint” looks into some bigger roles, without much success. Scott hustled his way into the Fifty Shades of Grey auditions last year, once Charlie Hunnam tapped out, only it was pretty obvious that producers were not going to make Christian Grey into a frat-bro. But to hear Scott tell it, he was the one who walked away from the role. It was his choice, he swears!

Reading for the Christian Grey role: “They had asked me to come in and read and test for it. But they had no script. I won’t do a movie where there is no script. I am not going to get locked in. And they wanted full frontal nudity. There were some things about it that were not for me.”

He took himself out of the running: “It’s not a bad thing. The movie made a ton of money. It’s been a success. It just wasn’t for me. It was not something I wanted to do. I just didn’t enter the running. It was like, “Okay, thank you.”

Has he seen Fifty Shades? “I’ll have to wait for it to get onto my home channels.”

[From USA Today]

Is it possible that Scott understood – once he got in there – that they were never going to cast him in the role and that’s why he took himself out of the running? Perhaps. But the way he was hustling for it last year, I doubt it. I think it’s far more likely that Scott went into audition and the producers were like “eh, no thanks.” You know who I think legitimately had no interest in the role whatsoever? Matt Bomer. All the fan-girls wanted Bomer but he was never in the running because he simply didn’t want it. And you never hear Bomer talk sh-t about it either.

    Sure Jan gif.

    • Talie says:

RIGHT? He would be loving the attention that movie would bring… I mean, he just worked out in front of the paps shirtless. Girl, bye!

      • Mintessence (the original Minty) says:

Yeah, wasn’t he “working out” shirtless and wearing JEANS? Such an obvious pap stroll. I admit he’s a pretty guy on the surface, but he’s really thirsty.

  2. Katie says:

If he hustled his way into the auditions shouldn’t he have known that they would want full frontal nudity? Was he not clear on the subject matter before he went it? Smells fishy to me

  3. paola says:

I agree with what Kim Cattrall said.
Jamie Dornan is not hot. He looks like a young boy.
Producers should have gone for someone like Joe Manganiello. He does look like he’s into kinky stuff while Dornan looks like he plays with Barbies in bed.
And Scott Eastwood looks just like Dornan. Boring and bored.

    • Allie says:

No way. Jaime Dornan is hot. Watch The Fall, then get back to me. I think Joe is creepy and unattractive. No one will be fully satisfied with the saying of that movie because everybody has different tastes.

    • Dońt kill me i'm french says:

Manganiello is too old.Grey is 27 years old

      • paola says:

Yes, I meant as someone like him.
I still believe the real Christian Grey is a bit too young to have had that kind of experience. That is only my opinion though

      • jaye says:

I was about to say the same thing. In the book, Christian Grey is blonde and I don’t think he was meant to be as big as Manganiello is. I agree with you about Grey being to young to be AS accomplished as he was. THAT required a lot of suspension of belief.

    • Dani says:

Josh Hartnett should have been Grey. I don’t care if his eyes are brown and he’s like almost 40. I DON’T CARE.

    • JosieJ says:

I don’t think Jamie Dornan is hot either. He does nothing for me.

  4. Louise177 says:

He was hot in Town and Country but in all other photos he looked average. He wanted the role as badly as Ian Somerhalder.

    • applapoom says:

Yeah, he is nowhere near as hot as his dad in his prime. His eyes are too far apart and his mouth is a bit funny

  5. Miss M says:

I never read the books and i didn’t see the movie either.

But, based on the comments u read so far and the readings given by my douchemeter, I am assuming his personality seems to be way too close to Christian Grey.

    • Dońt kill me i'm french says:

At least Grey’s character is famous for his corporation.Eastwood’s son is famous for his movie legend daddy

    • Marty says:

We should listen to Miss M. Her douchmeter has a proven 98% accuracy!

  6. Dońt kill me i'm french says:

Just one question…Eastwood is known for what? He’s only “famous” because his father is a movie legend

    • Tiffany says:

Come on French, you know he was in……Ummm, no he was in……ummmm. Yeah, you know that movie……

    • Dani says:

He’s in the new Nicholas Sparks movie. It was actually in the previews for FSOG and it didn’t look terrible.

  7. Lucy2 says:

Wow, someone needs attention, huh? Trying to connect himself to a big movie.

    • Esmom says:

I know, right? “I could have done that but I chose not to.” Lol.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yeah, I wasn’t going to mention this, because I don’t like to brag, but I also turned down the role of Christian Grey. Just wasn’t for me as I try to stretch and grow, you know how it is.

      • lucy2 says:

It’s especially funny since he wasn’t cast in the first round (Charlie) or the second, but thinks we’re going to buy that they wanted him and he walked away?

      • Bridget says:

Really GNAT? The producers really wanted me to read for it but I wasn’t into the idea of being locked in for 3 movies.

  8. GlimmerBunny says:

I’m still bitter that Matt Bomer wasn’t Christian Grey. He would have been perfect looks- and acting-wise, and even though the movie was bad it would have increased his profile, which would have lead to some other (better) leading man roles.

    🙁

    • Betti says:

He he would have been great and they could have gotten away with making Grey a little older. Ian Somerhalder would have been a better choice than Dornan.

Sounds like someone is jumping on the bandwagon to boost his profile a little – he looks soo much like his father.

    • Mia4S says:

Would it have lead to more roles? I’ve seen Dornan’s name connected to some minor stuff but he’s not exactly being overwhelmed. He’s still pretty far down the list for his age group. Bomer’s age bracket is even tougher!

    • jaye says:

Bomer’s too old to play that character.

  9. Anon33 says:

His story doesn’t even make any sense, eapecially since we now know that there was no male full frontal in the movie.

  10. Mia4S says:

I have no interest in this “frat bro” but considering that Clint was generally a massive douche to women and cheated consistently on his wives I will applaud him for being less like his old man.

  11. Caz says:

Your dad is Eastwood yet you can’t get a decent movie career started? Time to pick an alternate career.

    • Erykah B. says:

He can make a career out of talking about things he “passed” on.

    • Mia4S says:

He’s the child of one of Clint’s many side pieces and as the story goes his birth certificate doesn’t list his father. So in his defence I doubt Clint is much help/support.

      • lucy2 says:

Clint put him in a few of his movies to start his career. He seems to be working steadily, but no big breakthrough starring role.

      • Kate says:

Sondra Locke found about about Scott and Kathy while she was with Clint. I don’t feel sorry for Locke. She knew Clint was married when they got together

  12. dr mantis toboggan says:

He looks like a hemsworth brother that wears a confederate flag bandana and lives in a trailer in the backyard which is littered with cars on bricks that he says he’s fixing but never does and has at least one daughter named Destinee

  13. Elly says:

Sorry, but he seems so thirsty.
Yesterday i´ve seen the trailer for the new Nicholas Sparks movie…and who is the male lead? This guy! He plays a pretty cowboy in a whitewashed over-dramatic lovestory (typically Sparks).

Son Eastwood wants it so bad. The Sparks trailer shows his naked, sweaty abs and a shower sex scene…oh yeah he would have played Christian Grey if they wanted him…

  14. belle de jour says:

Nice using the shot of him in grey suit, grey tie.
Or is it really white and gold?

  15. Kiddo says:

He’s gross. “Spoiled rich-douche” is written all over his face, and his father was much better looking when he was young. The end.

    • Bridget says:

Douchey looking: yes. But rich? I don’t know. Wasn’t Clint notoriously stingy with supporting his kids once he and the mother broke up?

  16. JH says:

The douche is strong in this one.

  17. kri says:

You know, alot of people turned down that role for various reasons. I TOTALLY believe Scott. I know that when I turned down the role, the producers were in a PANIC!! They finally had to setttle on Jamie. Yes, yes-that’s how he got the part. Me and Scott said hell no.

  18. ilovesunnydaze says:

He isnt attractive enough to play CG. Either was the guy who did.

  19. Grace says:

I don’t know whether he is seeking attention or not, but man that dude is hot!

  20. Leslie says:

I wouldn’t think he would need any acting skills because of who his father is. He got the Nicholas Sparks role. But, this poor guy really can’t act. It always amazes me that people like him and Lily Collins who have no innate acting skills don’t take some classes. It’s not like they can’t afford them.
