Kendall Jenner is the new face of Calvin Klein: good pick?

Kendall Jenner

This 3-month-old photo comes from Kendall Jenner’s Instagram account (although she deleted it for unknown reasons). She’s showing off her Calvins to great advantage. This must be the new go-to method for securing a Calvin Klein underwear contract. Show off the undies, grab some social media attention, and watch what happens. Hey, it worked for Justin Bieber. He also dropped trou on the runway to nab his campaign. Maybe that’s where Kendall got the idea, although she won’t need anywhere near the amount of photoshop as Swaggy. Kendall’s the only Kardashian with a fresh and (mostly) natural beauty, so CK may even send their digital artists on vacation. Page Six says the deal is done:

Add Kendall Jenner to the list of people for whom nothing comes between them and their Calvins.

Sources tell us the in-demand model and junior member of the Kardashian klan has signed on to be a face, or rather body, for the underwear brand.

Jenner, who’s been walking runways for Chanel and Balmain at Paris fashion week, has been posting photos of herself wearing Calvin Klein undies on her Instagram since last year, often tagging the line to show her support.

Jenner’s Instagram posts are similar to those Justin Bieber posted on his own feed before he was announced in January as a spokesman for Calvin Klein Jeans.

Bieber’s appearance in Calvin ads with model Lara Stone drew huge buzz on social media (Calvin reportedly gained 3.6 million Twitter followers after releasing the first images), but also a fair amount of controversy.

[From Page Six]

Kendall’s a bit of a brat, but I still think she’s got the model look. Even more important these days is Kendall’s ability to stir up buzz on social media. That’s the big reason why brands hire her. She’s a face of Estee Lauder and walks at every fashion week runway now. If anyone can make a break from the Klan, it’s Kendall. I don’t think that will happen, but the option is open for her.

Kendall gave a quickie, slightly vacant interview during Paris fashion week. The Mail quotes her tips for comfortably wearing high heels: “I switch off from one foot to another a lot, like this. You have to keep moving your feet!” She also advises shelling out for Manolos. So what’s next — Kendall as the face of Manolo Blahnik? We shall see.

I’m all for someone trying to escape from the Klan, so yay for Kendall. She could just sit back, let Kim show her A**, and rake in cash while slowly bashing Rob/exploiting famous black men, but she’s not and I give her credit for that. Get those contracts and then run, girl!

  2. NewWester says:

If Justin Beiber and Kendall Jenner do a Calvin Klein ad together. The comments on this site would be amazing

  3. Dońt kill me i'm french says:

CK is desesperate of attention,is it?
    First Bieber now Kendull!
As I thought Estée Lauder’s move was clever ( it get young their public) as here Jennifer Lawrence was a better choice for CK

    • QQ says:

Every time I hear Kendull Im never expect it and let out theee most ungodly Bray

      • Christo says:

YES. Never before has so much return been generated on such a small investment as a leaked sex tape. My god…the return on investment has been exponential for said fame whore and her family. Obviously, this has more to do with social media, mouse-clicks and relationships in the industry. I don’t mean to suggest that Kendullll (Krissie-lite) isn’t pretty; it is just that I find her unremarkable from an aesthetic standpoint.

  4. Estella says:

I do think she is beautiful but I cannot support anything the Klan sells so bye bye Calvin Klein.

    • skilo says:

Same here except I honestly don’t think she’s that beautiful. They have ruined something else for me now.

    • Hannah says:

Agreed, I can’t understand why anything these people do is respected by some people. Are they conveniently forgetting how they started? The whole family needs to disappear before it’s too late for the children (North, Mason etc)

  5. Allie says:

I’m tired of seeing only super thin girls with no boobs and butts be the models for women’s underwear. Can I see some variety here?

    • RN says:

Designers choose thin models to best show off the lines of the product and to tone down (at least in the US) some of the sexual undertones. In other words, the ads can’t look too “porny”. Plus, I’m not sure that looking at someone’s rolls or cellulite would move a lot of product. There are certainly lines that feature plus-sized models or items geared toward overweight women. Interesting, though, how much Photoshop is used to still sculpt the figure in those ads. I get a catalogue that sells clothing for athletic women and the models are different sizes, with toned and muscular bodies.

      • Allie says:

I get that but as someone who has a huge rack and butt, I can’t relate to someone like Kendall. I haven’t had that body since I was in 6th grade. Makes me not want to buy the clothing brand.

    • Imo says:

      RN
There is so much wrong with your statement. So if you are not thin you must have rolls and cellulite? If you have hips and boobs you look pr0nographic? There is no middle ground between skinny and overweight? If someone wants to see more diversity and relatability in advertising they should just be content with specialty catalogs? I wish I had a Skinny Girl martini for every cringeworthy issue in your comment.

    • Wren33 says:

Although, I think CK really is made for non-curvy girls, so at least there is truth in advertising. I am an A-cup, and in the past they have been a good option for small bras that don’t have underwire or a ton of padding.

    • Belle says:

There are a lot of variety out there, I think we just don’t like how it is marketed aka plus size etc. Brands can choose to market whatever image they want and we choose to spend our hard earned cash on them. These brands at the end of the day are all about the bottom-line. They appeal to DESIRE, and although thin is apparently not reality for most, it is DESIRED. The majority of women desire to be smaller, not Kendall small but smaller relative to their current body size. Many women are confident in their own skin but for every confident woman, there are 5 who wishes for a better appearance.

Brands are typically not out of touch i.e. they will keep selling you something you reject. If you hate it, they will adjust, because the sales will drop. But that is not reflected which means the ads are working per their research.

  6. Splinter says:

To me she looks so boring as a model. Not distinctive enough, but also not able to transform herself into someone totally different either.

    • Josephine says:

I agree, she’s nothing particularly special, but she can get the PR, and that’s all these companies care about. She seems to be keeping her head (mostly) on straight, so props to her for that. I do take issue with the writer above who says that she’s walking all of the shows. She may be walking in each fashion week, but she walks 1/2 the runways or less, and most models are walking a lot more. But you don’t need talent or hard work when your sister is a pr0n star who continues to butcher herself for publicity.

      • wendy says:

She’s walked in about 15 shows so far in 2015. I wonder if she is super expensive. Cause not only are the brands getting her on the runway they are also getting her tweeting and instagram posts to her bazilllion followers.

    • cyndi says:

I think her only real draw, is who her FAMILY is. She can deny it all she wants but she’s getting these gigs because of her family name. They (CK, Estee Lauder, etc) know that, at least for right now, that Kendull will draw LOTS of exposure from KarTRASHian/Jenner/West fans. She has the attention and (sadly) adoration of millions of young girls. They can buy a CK sport bra, much like the one Kendull is wearing in the top pic, for their first training bra!

  7. MacScore says:

You are far too kind and uncritical of this self-promoting, vapid, boring, dull, unattractive twit who exemplifies everything that is wrong with global culture and it’s so-called “values.” Can’t stand her. She’ll never “break away” from the “Klan” because she is hard-wired just like they are and has _nothing_ to offer society whatsoever. She and the rest of her disgusting troop should be made to serve food to the homeless and give away all of their “earnings.” Please please stop with the Kardashian “news”. [Rant over].

  8. Mispronounced Name Dropper says:

She’s better looking than Cara Delevingne. I’ll give her that.

    • maeliz says:

Absolutely agree. Cara is plain and not very pretty.

      • Dońt kill me i'm french says:

Cara is charismatic and energic ( the fact that her family is in fashion world must help also)

      • cyndi says:

        @maeliz
Both can be said about The Model One as well. I’ve seen bowls of oatmeal with more pizzaz!

    • Dani says:

Agreed. As well as Suki Waterhouse and even Georgia Jagger (sorry but I CANNOT get on board with those teeth. I can’t). I don’t hate Kendall as a model. She has a fun personality from what it seems.

  9. tracking says:

I’ll have trouble supporting anything that comes from this family, but she does have a good look (if somewhat vacant).

    • Kitten says:

+1. I think she’s really pretty, youthful, and fresh-looking, which makes her look distinctly different from the rest of her plastic, frozen family.

At least she has a career?

  10. Naddie says:

No, she’s not the best choice, but still better than the blonde/green or blue eyed/pale skinned model.

  11. misstee says:

How can any self respecting fashion house employ a girl that poses on the red carpet like awkward flamingo?

  12. Tig says:

One thing I’m curious about-does Twitter actually equate to $$$? Seriously, what female or male will be buying CK underwear bec of JBieber? And am assuming this girl will be the face of mass marketed CK- maybe the jeans? Just odd to me.

  13. Skins says:

I’m sure they would have hired her if her name was Mary Smith

  14. maeliz says:

She’s a pretty girl. This is not a ridiculous picture like Biebers was. I still, and always will, buy my Calvins

  15. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I’ve never really liked Calvin Klein ads. Hints of pedophilia in the old ones and just stupidity in the new ones. I don’t know where I stop and you begin…vom.

  16. InvaderTak says:

Bill Kaulitz would have been more interesting, if that’s the look they’re going for. He could do men’s and women’s. I first thought of that as a joke but seriously, that would be cool.

  17. Judyk says:

Give the job to someone who deserves it and not to a highschool dropout. In the last pic, she looks like a ridiculous store mannequin…nothing behind the eyes, which I suspect is a fact.

  18. serena says:

She is a beautiful young woman, stupid and vapid yes, but at least she kinda got away from her family. The dramatic cat-eye liner relly suits her.

  19. Kendull is waay overated, the photo in the white dress would be blah, but the awkward twisted leg pose make her look crippled. Her face is already wide, and then she widens even further with cleopatra eyeliner. Not good

  20. AntiSocialButterfly says:

WTH is up with the black bubble-wrap get up?

  21. jane16 says:

I can’t stand Calvin Klein, so yeah, Kendull is perfect for them.

  22. mar says:

she is so overrated. I remember back in the day when supermodels were breathtaking. Are there no more astonishing beauties left or has celebrity taking over and looks are second to name recognition?

    • jane16 says:

You nailed it. Looks are definitely second to name recognition. The only time you ever see real models anymore are for products from companies that can’t afford to pay a celeb. I used to love looking at the fashion and makeup bibles of old, they were so beautiful and artistic. I don’t buy any of them anymore, and am boycotting Vogue…think Wintour has ruined it. She is so into celebs, and being one herself, that the point of the magazine itself seems to have gotten lost.

  23. uncle bob says:

    meh…

  24. Ivs says:

It’s just so strange! I don’t even dislike Kendall as a person though personally, given Kendall’s opportunities, I would have done something a little bit more intellectually challenging than modeling. But in the end I can only root for a girl who’s genuinely working and not just soaking up the publics attention, making money while contributing nothing. As much as modeling is seen as a vapid career choice she could’ve done way worse, and she seems to have a legit career going for herself (looking at you, Kim).

But I stiiiiill don’t get it, how is she a model?! Thin, tall , pretty, sure; but she’s such a generic brunette! I’m dead certain she wouldn’t have booked all these high profile gigs if it weren’t for her name recognition, but even then – what do all these designers see in her? At least Cara has a distinctive look (and an imagie to match), Karlies look is versatile and fits both high fashion and commercial, Gigi Hadid is drop dead exotically beautiful, and Jourdan Dunne and Chanel Iman both are unique just by representing minorities. Seriously! I really don’t get it. She’s pretty, ok. Then what??

    • cyndi says:

“.., I would have done something a little bit more intellectually challenging than modeling…”
I think walking and breathing, AT THE SAME TIME, is intellectually challenging to ANY of the females in that family.
