Renee Zellweger debuts some new bangs in Paris: still unrecognizable?

Here are some photos of Renee Zellweger in Paris yesterday. She unexpectedly came out for the MiuMiu runway show. This was her first big public outing since everyone went crazy about her new face last October. To be fair, Renee had her plastic surgery (alleged!) done months before and some of us were already aware of her eye work (alleged!), but for whatever reason, when she stepped onto the red carpet in October, everyone lost their minds. Renee even had to issue a statement about her new look, claiming that she lost her squint because of a “fulfilling life.”

What I find interesting is that Renee introduced some new bangs in Paris. That’s one way to explain your surgical work (ask Kim Kardashian): make a hair change and just claim that your new hairstyle is why you look so different. As you can imagine, I do not care for the bangs. I feel like they’re an attempt to “re-squint” her eyes, you know? To make her features look smaller?

Sigh… Renee in Paris. I remember, years ago, when Vogue selected Renee as their cover girl and they sent her to Paris to hang out with all of the Paris designers. It was April, 2001. That was a great issue, that’s why it’s stuck in my mind. She was such a baby back then and she didn’t know anything about fashion!

    Renee! Where you been, girl?

  2. Tifygodess24 says:

I don’t know , as a hooded eye girl myself ( hate it- ruins great eye makeup! ) I would think if she had major eye work done that would have been the first to go. Look how much they cover the actual eyelid. I’m still skeptical. Yes , She does looks different , but I’m just thinking too much Botox /filler , lack of mascara/makeup and the fact that hello she is aging.

    • Hudson Girl says:

Yeah, she looks back to what she was- I’m guessing it was Botox and not surgery. Her eyes do not look post-op to me.

      (Her outfit is cute.)

    • Dani says:

I’m a hooded eyelid girl too and if I were to do any surgical work I’d do that first as well. I’m more worried about the fillers than her eyes.

    • heave ho says:

whatever it was, some lipstick could alleviate all this unwanted eye attention.

    • CB says:

Yeh. It’s aging. We’re used to seeing those in Hollywood that either age well or had work done. Not everyone is Julianne Moore. I’m totally thinking she bathes in virgin’s blood because how else do you look 36 at 56.

      • Dońt kill me i'm french says:

Moore and Streep share the same European dermatologist living in NY ( it’s in Madame Figaro 2/3 weeks ago)

    • melbelle says:

I don’t think she had work done either. In fact, I think she STOPPED having work done and then her face… for lack of a better term… fell. I think maybe she maintained that squinty look with lots of fillers and recently decided to stop getting them. And then reality set in. Plus, that theory jives with her version of events. I think she looks just fine.

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

She looks a little more like the old Renee now. Maybe the eyes have “relaxed” a little? I’d forgotten she tried to explain away the difference by saying she had a fulfilling life. I guess it’s not our business but then I think she should just say it’s none of your business, rather than making up a ridiculous lie. I’ve always liked her, but I don’t think she handled this very well.

  4. savu says:

Gotta admit I love her outfit though. That coat!!

  5. Lendy says:

She looks more like her original face. This is good.

  6. Josephine says:

I like her look – very 60’s mod. I think she looks nice, and folks need to move on. Yes, the change was a bit shocking, but it’s done now and she has led such a quiet life; I don’t think she deserves the mega-scrutiny.

  7. bella says:

she does look a bit more like herself.
i hope she doesn’t do anything else to the face we’ve all grown to love…
    she’s endearing…i can’t fault her for much…
i watched bridget jones diary the other night for about the 200th time..
it’s always so enjoyable – she makes the movie.

  8. paola says:

I’m sorry but she looks great!
The work she has done to her face is slowly settling and it looks like her old face is shyly surfacing again.
Hopefully she regrets that decision and she’ll never go down that route again!

  9. pretty says:

her face changed again! wtf.. so go google her name and the you can see the infamous pictures of her with obviously different eyes. in those pictuers, she has ZERO space between her eyebrows and her eyes. but here, she has plenty of space like her original face. wtf that is so werid…

    • Cindy says:

Brow lift maybe? I’ve always thought she was really pretty. She looks a little like jennifer Lawrence to me- the eyes, lips and cheeks. I’m sure Renee has had stuff done to her face, but it doesn’t seem extreme.

      • Jayna says:

I think it was the overuse of botox around her eyes and eyebrows to give a lift and it’s worn off now.

  10. Lama Bean says:

She looks more like herself, but oddly she is giving me Sarah Jessica Parker vibes.

    Hot coat.

  11. The Original G says:

I thought we were done beating her up over this?

    • Sumodo1 says:

Thank you for saying what I was thinking.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I think there’s a difference between noticing a completely different face and “beating her up.” She’s a celebrity. She changed her whole face. People are going to comment, and she knew that before she did it. I don’t understand why we’re supposed to act like nothing is different.

    • FingerBinger says:

Renee looked different and people noticed it. No one was “beating her up” over it.

  12. Erm says:

You can buy tape that temporarily creates a double fold in mono eyelids. I wonder if that’s what she used for her previous appearances? Plus maybe botox which could explain the change in the distance between her eyes and eyebrows. So strange. I’m glad she looks more like her original self though.

  13. Scarlet Pimpernel says:

I think she’s had a brow lift and cheek implants and perhaps even her chin shaved plus previously botox. The new bangs help to cover the elongated forehead and eyebrows which have altered the look of her face.

  14. Crumpet says:

Her eyebrows are back up where they should be! I wonder if she had a brow lift. One thing that can happen when you remove extra eyelid skin, is that is can pull your eyebrows down. I think that is what we were seeing. But she obviously got that fixed, and she looks much more like herself.

  15. Esmom says:

Her eyes look more like their old shape. With a glam look like this she needs more or better makeup and goodness she seems to get the hair wrong almost every time.

    • GingerCrunch says:

Hey there, Esmom! ITA. The one place I would be sure to slap on some makeup for is a major fashion show! And at my age I always wear lip gloss. Thank god no one is photographing me, tho.

    • Esmom says:

Hi GingerCrunch! I’ve never worn much makeup but as I’ve aged I have found that a tiny bit can make a huge difference. I’ve now gotten to the point where I now need to wear a little mascara just about anywhere if I’m seeing people I know and I don’t want to look completely haggard. And yes thank goodness no one’s photographing me either! 🙂

      • GingerCrunch says:

Yep. A few unintentional glances in a mirror when I’d be out with no make-up has cured me of running around barefaced all the time like I did in my youth! Sheesh.

  16. OriginalTessa says:

It was probably botox that lifted her eyes, and has now relaxed. Her eyes look almost back to normal.

  17. TheGPoint says:

Sorry, but she still looks like a whole different woman to me.
More importantly, she also looks significantly older than before, so, what exactly was the point of messing up with her eyes?!

  18. smcollins says:

I think she looks great! More like her “old” self (seems to be a slight return of the squint). Has she taken any movie roles lately? I miss her!

  19. kittykat says:

She def. looks better and bangs help with her old self but that bun. Good Lord ugh.

  20. bbg says:

She looks like Carol Middleton in that picture.

  21. serena says:

Whatever she did to her face it’s noticeable, even now. Anyway why would an actress go to a major runaway show styled like that?
No make-up, hair in that old-stay at home-bum …. wtf?

  22. TheOnlyDee says:

I think she looks good, and I like her coat. I have a soft spot for Renee.

  23. Lucy says:

She looks good! Great outfit, I just wish the pumps were black instead of nude.

  24. Lilacflowers says:

That outfit is great but, as somebody who lives in a city with cobblestones, I do hope, for the sake of both her ankles and the shoes, that she isn’t planning on walking more than a few feet.

  25. Jayna says:

She looks like an older version of Renee, and I bet in person, talking to her, with her southern accent and the way she smiles, she would look exactly the same. If she put on a few pounds, her face would fill out a little more.

More than anything, I have never seen Renee with a tan, and it throws off the look I’m used to, the very pale skin. I like her better pale with a red lip, not this tan look with pale lipstick she’s been into since being with her new boyfriend.

Maybe she was overbotoxing around her eyes, to do some kind of lifting of her eyelids, and it gave that startled look, and it’s worn off now.

  26. kri says:

Her face is settling a bit-it’s like a souffle, I guess. And that coat is glorious!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. Katie says:

She looks fine! 🙂 Can’t even tell she’s wearing make up!

  28. Miran says:

    Natural aging my ass.

  29. ilovesunnydaze says:

She looks so cute and pretty despite any facial work she’s had. Haven’t they all?

  30. JenniferJustice says:

Saw her in doing an interview once. I was with a coworker who is an expert on body language and facial expressionis expert (human lie-detector dude). He watched her for a while and then said, “that girl has serious, serious problems.” He said she is “dibilitatingly insecure” and that it wasn’t just nerves. He said he suspected she barely functions. I don’t recall what he said after that. I was too busy stiffening up and attempting to be un-readable.

    • Christin says:

This is interesting. I am no expert on such things, but I get a very peculiar vibe about her. I think she is a bit more than just quirky or reserved.

  31. Comity says:

Channelling some Audrey there. She looks healthy and content. Good for her.

  32. CatJ says:

I love Renee, but am laughing at the obvious difference in her foot and ankle colours…. c’mon, you are in Paris at a fashion show…… you are going to be photographed…… sheeeesh

  33. Grace says:

She looks great and surprisingly sophisticated.

  34. Susannah says:

Renee is just concentrating on not opening her eyes very wide in these shots. I’m sure she read all the moaning about “why-did-she change-her look..”
The fired female Sony exec who said “all actors are bottomless pits of need” got it right!

  35. kibbles says:

Oh man, I can’t let this go. I like Renee, but I don’t think she looks like her old self at all. She still looks like a woman who has gotten signifiant plastic surgery to change her face. That old Vogue cover broke my heart. Yes, all of us age, but most of us still look like our old selves except for a few wrinkles. And she’s really not that old. It’s like her weight fluctuations, thinness, and skin problems combined with bad plastic surgery has made her look a lot older than her actual age. It’s frightening to see women like Renee, Kim Kardashian, Melanie Griffith, Meg Ryan, etc. mess up their pretty faces. Women who keep it real and only go to the dermatologist for facials and peels end up looking the best in old age.

  36. Joh says:

    She is SO talented!
    Her face, her life.

  37. Jules says:

I LOVED that issue of Vogue and still think of it every time I see her.

  38. Jellybean says:

That coat and those shoes… Amazing!

  39. Tarsha says:

Um….NO! She could dye her hair black, wear brown contact lenses, and affix fake scars all over her -, but she would still be recognisable anywhere, even in the dark, with that sour-lemon-cat-bum-mouth. It gives her away every….single…..time, and ALWAYS will do.

  40. Domino says:

Why does she look like an extremely skinny, hunched back old lady? She’s only 45 for god’s sake! Awful. Absolutely awful.

  41. danielle says:

I think Wintour getting her claws into Renee was very, very bad for Renee. Renee was always super cute, but not some kidmanesque glamazon. After the Vogue thing Renee got very skinny and was always pose harding. Makes me sad for her.

  42. Sue says:

She looks good with bangs. I like how she looks, her face has settled or something. I’ll always be a Renee fan due to the first “Bridget Jones”, “Chicago”, and her small bit in “White Oleander”.
I wish she’d get cast in something cool again. She’s just adorable and endearing to me. Unique.
